Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know I will be away from access to computers and unable to post this Saturday, 2/27 (all day). I will be back and able to catch up early in the afternoon (US/Pacific time) the next day. Bot me as needed.

No worries. I've had some hectic days this week too!

Sorry to hear. Hope it gets better soon!

There are some crazy powerful things in this fight for level 1. I've pulled a couple of punches so far, otherwise, Esha would be twice dead by now. Pretty much just ignored crits. But do take care.
Also, please do include all of the information I asked for in the post. It gets a bit confusing sometimes which round an action is supposed to be for, or if rolls are posted with no context.

I can't believe she can't hit him. This is the worst - I feel so bad for her!
I know the feeling. I'm playing a soldier in a starfinder game on a different forum. I have a huge gun, that does crazy damage, and I can't roll more than a 10 to hit.
Then the spear launchers on here that should hit you on a 2 or crit on 12, I'm rolling 19's for...... It's so unfair.

Lol, so true! I so want her to redeem herself against him!

Ah, there's a small problem with that :D
So, looking at it, the two crits that I softened out would both have taken Esha into dieing. If everyone's actions had remained the same though, Calvus' healing would have brought her back both times, and she'd now have a wounded 2 condition. Other than that though, it would have played out basically the same.
Guess I should trust the system...

With Hallod dead (though there's a bit of stuff to work out in the cave) that is the end of part one. With a little nudge, that is also enough XP to make Level 2.
You are still a bit on the gold poor side. But feel free to make a start on leveling your characters now.

Done. Elo is now a part-time alchemist, and has Innate Detect Magic via Arcane Sense.

Sorry I have been slow to post. March is a crazy work month for me and I am working very long hours. I should still generally be able to post once a day, but there will be times when it's a little less than that.

Hey gang - I'm going to announce Laurel's retirement from this game. I don't think I'm committed to the long haul here. It's been almost a year already, and it looks like another two years to go. That said, I had a great time playing with you all, and wish you luck.
See you around the boards!
Elo Zozakzod
It's been fun Laurel! I liked the "lost boy" style character.
Looks like we need another recruit? GM, what do you think about allowing up to two or three more so that future departures don't force us to pause?

Sad to hear that Rainzax, but glad you've enjoyed. I'll admit, I've failed to understand Laurel from the get go, but the antics have been a hoot. I hope you find other games to enjoy! Good luck.
Has it really been two years already?
First post on the discussion thread says "May 24, 2020, 11:31" so not quite a year for part 1.
That said, parts 2 and 3 are a *lot* less on the social interaction side, and so are likely to go a fair bit quicker.

Yeah, now seems like a logical time to bring in some new blood, I help off introducing more than one last time, but I think two would be good right about now.
Back to the recruitment thread it is.
All that said, it takes a lot to get a game to stick like this one has. I'm proper enjoying running it, and I'm glad you are enjoying the ride.

I am definitely enjoying the game.
I'm sorry to see you go, Laurel! I have enjoyed the interaction between Laurel and Esha. I agree that now seems a good time to bring in a couple new players. I doubt I will have time to level Esha tonight, but I should be able to work on it tomorrow.

Laurel is such a fun character! And gaming with you has been a pleasure.

Once you let us know how many days of downtime we'll have, Elo will post about his plans. Wizards and alchemists can *always* find something to do, especially with 50gp worth of reagents to work with.

What level of items are for sale in town?
Most common items (level 1) can be found in the general store, but unless they’re items that might be useful to a farming community, the store has only one or two in stock. The only magic items they have on hand are three minor healing potions and a potency crystal. No alchemical items are in stock, and if anyone asks Delma, she simply replies that the town hasn’t had "one of them chymist witches" for almost 20 years.
Elo Zozakzod
Okay, so spell scrolls are probably out of the question too.
Elo Zozakzod
Nice. if the caravan has first level spell scrolls, then I might like one or two.
Elo Zozakzod
Whoops. Just realized Elo actually has very little money left. So, he's going with earn income for 7 days.
Earn income (Crafting alchemy), task 0, DC14: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 => 5cp / day => 3sp, 5cp
Elo Zozakzod
Okay, so lets say earn income is 6 days instead of 7 (so 3sp) and Elo has one day to shop and learn spells from those scrolls.
With the spellbook prodigy feat he can make one attempt per 30m (instead of 1 hour, for 1st-level spells).
It's 4gp for a scroll, and 2gp of material to learn, so he'll purchase 8 spell scrolls (and material for learning attempts).
STUDY TIME (4 hours):
Learn a spell, air bubble (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Learn a spell, alarm (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 can try again after 1 week
Learn a spell, animate dead (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 can try again after 1 week
Learn a spell, burning hands (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 can try again after 1 week
Learn a spell, color spray (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Learn a spell, fear (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Learn a spell, floating disk (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Learn a spell, sleep (Arcana, DC15): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
"After one week" instead of "1 level" also because of spellbook prodigy

Hi all... seems I'm your new party member...
Anything you particularly recommend I catch up on and any summary you can give that may help me better gel with the game/party?
Any hooks you might recommend to grease the RP treads?
Calvus Hellensis
Well Calvus is having an ongoing crisis of faith and has no idea why he's going through what he's going through.
Elo Zozakzod
Well, Elo only just got pulled into the party's hijinx :P He only acts curmudgeonly, but sort of likes being dragged along to where trouble is for an excuse to use the spells he spends hours studying.
He is never without a cigar, the effects of which are made obvious by a very gravelly voice. He's a kobold that sounds more like an old dwarf with lung issues.

Esha is a blue-haired gnome barbarian. She is quite friendly unless you threaten one of her friends or insinuate that she in incompetent because she's short/a gnome. She considers Calvus as one of the wisest people she's ever known and views him as their talented and fearless leader. She's just getting to know Elo, but likes that he is also short, and that he smokes cigars.

Basically, they travelled here with a caravan and then the caravan leader was poisoned and they have been helping out the sheriff by trying to find the murderer. The just found the person that did the actual poisoning, but it seems he was directed by another, so I assume that is their next task. Oh, and they are about to have a sit down in the tavern with a mysterious woman that just showed up in town, so him eavesdropping on that situation might be a good opportunity to get involved.
Steetch Silentgaze
Hello everyone. I'm eternally grateful to join you guys on this one.
My name's Niles and I've been on these boards for about 8 years. Covid got the best of me and I dropped off the boards for about 8 months but I'm back and enjoying my time gaming on the forums.
As for Steetch's entry into the game. I'm playing Steetch as being from Almas. He was traveling from Almas to another ysoki warren in Elidir. He could have been waylaid by those wolves that the mysterious elf found. Steetch could have been saved by the elf and pledged himself to helping her rid the area of those creatures.

Part of the party did :P
