I'll jump in with Bugface here. I'll have to finish leveling to 8 then I'll fill out your form. If that's alright.

I think I've played with both Bluuuuuu and Jackojare but perhaps not with Bugface. Good to see y'all again.

![]() |

I recognise all those names so far, either from playing or GMing. Welcome aboard.
I've played this before, but not GMed it, so I might start with some splat text tomorrow to get you going while I am still working through the rest of the plot.
That will give others a chance to jump in too.
Please, add your icons to the map (makes my life much easier)
I know what it is like to be a completionist. I'm that way myself, but nowhere near finished. I do like it when I get a black line on my sheet showing that I have both GMed and played a scenario though.

![]() |

I'm going to feel like a baby with my 5th level Envoy. He'll be in for moral support, I guess.

![]() |

I'm sure the gas-shield will keep you safe :-)
If you could provide all the information that would be very helpful for me. I tend to find it easier getting all the organised play details up front in terms of getting everyone's chronicles done and the game reported at the end.
I was just looking at the cover, and only just realised that the star system inside the wayfinder for those season 1 scenarios is the Scoured Stars system. D'oh!
Edit: Checking through it looks like it started around #16, so I don't feel quite so dumb.

I have the following starship option. If the group is so inclined, I will slot it and use it.
When used in Subtier 7–8, the PCs crewing this ship gain a bonus reroll that can only be used on a d20 roll made during a starship combat encounter. This reroll is meant to give the starship a slight bonus when outmatched by more powerful encounters. This reroll can be used by one PC, and does not count towards the reroll limit for that PC. Otherwise, this ability functions following the rules for rerolls as detailed in the Starfinder Core Rulebook on page 243.

Starship role Typically engineer (engineering +17) or science officer (computers +17)
I have the following starship option. If the group is so inclined, I will slot it and use it.
** spoiler omitted **...
I'll leave this out there until after the briefing. I'm not a starship build expert, but if this excites enough people I can use it here.

![]() |

You do need to pick your ship.
Guess I need to work out your tier too.
Dax - 5
Sefel 6
Bluu 8
Bugface 8
Jack 8
Plus a pregen (8)
Puts us definitely in high tier. On the plus side... bonus credits for Dax and Sefel.
So your choices are the bonus ship (tier 7) or a tier 8 Pegasus or Drake.

Chivix Velloro |

Vanguard it is then!
I'll hop into the gameplay and post up!
As for ship, my vote is the Crypt Warden, followed by the Pegasus
Starship role: Gunner +12
Character to apply credit to:
Chronicle: 19
Player name: bigrin42
Character name: Chivix
Organized play #-#: 52459-702

Fame: 36

Reputation: ACQ (66), DAT (3), EXO (2), SSLE (1), WAY (1)
Boons: T-shirt reroll

Bluuuuu |

I’d be ok using the Crypt Warden too. Though would propose replacing the EMP on the turret with either an Aeon Caster or a Tactical Nuclear Missile Launcher (I have the booms for both options, though ofc just the one can be picked here)

![]() |

I'll let you all finger wrestle over your choice, and we can work out the final ship configuration.
Also time for you all to finalise your slotted boons.

Bluuuuu |

Boons:
Ally - Cedona
Faction - Acquisitives Champion
Personal - Alien Admittance (Barathu)
Promotional - Promotional Reroll
Social - Knowledge of a Forgotten Military
Starship - Weapons of a Lost Civilization (unless someone would rather the AeonCaster)
Bluuuuu will also purchase some acolyte Shadow Chains (for 6,800 credits)

![]() |

I prefer the Drake.
That's one vote against. So it looks like I won't slot the starship boon this scenario unless he is swayed by somebody with interest for the choice.
and everyone at the table must agree to you slotting this boon.

![]() |

To be fair, at high tier the Drake does have a somewhat stronger set of weapons and shields than the Corpse Fleet ship.
Bluuu - are you still going to go with Weapons of a lost civilisation?
Starship boons:
Jac: ???
Bugface: Defender of the Fleet (which upgrade?)
Bluuu: Weapons of a Lost Civilization (TBC)
Dax: Star Monster Slayer
Chivix: not available
Sefel: TBD
Roles & Bonuses
Jac Gunner+13, Pilot+18, ChiefMate+15. Preferred Gunner
Bugface: Engineer or Scientist, +17 to both.
Bluuu: Gunner? (+10)
Dax: Captain (diplomacy +12/intimidate +12/bluff +9), Engineer +9, SO +9, Pilot +12, Gunner +7
Chivix Gunner (+12)
Sefel Engineer (+17) or Science (+17)
So it looks like Sefel and Bugface can flip between getting covered in oil or covered in bytes.
Chivix and Bluu appear to be only viable as gunners.
For Pilot you for Jac at +18 or Dax at +12

Bluuuuu |

If the Darke, Bluuuuu will actually them slot and check a box on Runedrive Rewrite, to turn the Drake’s mk2 Trinidad computer into a mk3 trinode.

I prefer the Drake over the Pegasus, but I will take the Crypt Warden. Not use to bonus ships being a choice.
Have no starship boons to slot.Guess I'm the Pilot, just fyi, I'm terrible at X-Wing game, cause I don't know the best places to tactically move, so if I someone can state in character good ideas, I'm up for it. Like a flip and burn is a good idea, or just get us turned around.

![]() |

If there are no votes against the Cryptwarden, then it sounds like that is your ship. Which still leaves you with boons to slot.
I think I have your roles correctly assigned down below, if you want to change, then sing out.
Starship boons:
Jac: none
Bugface: Defender of the Fleet (which upgrade?)
Bluuu: Weapons of a Lost Civilization (TBC)
Dax: Star Monster Slayer
Chivix: none
Sefel: Crypt Warden
Roles & Bonuses
Jac Pilot+18
Bugface: Engineer +17
Bluuu: Gunner? (+10)
Dax: Captain (diplomacy +12/intimidate +12/bluff +9),
Chivix Gunner (+12)
Sefel Science (+17)

Attack (Forward) heavy laser net (5d6), plasma cannon (5d12)

Attack (Turret) TO BE REPLACED BY??? Bluuu

crew quarters (common) mk 5 armor, mk 4 defenses; Expansion Bays cargo hold, escape pods, life science lab, medical
bay (modified to accommodate undead)
Modifiers +2 Computers; Complement 6–20
Also, can I suggest you pre-assign default use of the computer.

Bluuuuu |

It doesn't look the the Crypt Warden has a default __node computer, just gives a bonus to Computers checks. Unless I'm misreading the sheet summary
Bluuuuu will replace the turret with a Tactical Nuclear Missile launcher

![]() |

I would lean towards upgrading the computer with that boon but am open to suggestions.
I can either take the computers from a dunode to a trinode etc. Or, give the computer bonus a +1. Or upgrade the thrusters, T6 to T8 for example. Or give all of the weapon damage rolls of 1 a reroll.

![]() |

I prefer the Drake over the Pegasus, but I will take the Crypt Warden. Not use to bonus ships being a choice.
Just to be clear I don't mean to single you out or talk you into it :) I'm just reiterating the conditions, and if the group wants to go with the drake that's no problem as well. I am *not* a starship build expert.

![]() |

I actually think bonus ships are better than pegasus and drake. You have to unlock them, so in theory they must be powerful. And we will probably need in in this starship combat, which I'm expecting this one to be hard, given it ain't low tier.

![]() |

Awesome. Undead fleet ship it is then :)

![]() |

Just on the pure numbers, the drake does have better weapons, shields and computers. The huge hp value of the undead ship though is pretty impressive.
Also, the Drake/pegasus options are one tier higher, so you would expect them to be more powerful. I have a vague feeling when I played this we had the Crypt Warden as our ship.

![]() |

With the 'Defenders', I tend to find the computer boost more useful than the weapons or thrusters (just my opinion ofc)
Normally I agree but looking at a basic computer, it looks like we can either give ourselves two +0 bonuses or one +1 bonus. I don't know that that'll be helpful at tier 7-8. I think I'll do weapons unless someone wants to request something else.

![]() |

Funnily enough, when I played this, we did have a transport vehicle.
The trip was still pretty brutal.

![]() |

They are unfortunately a bit like sniper weapons... typically overlooked in scenario design - unless they are a specific feature of it.

![]() |

No worries, the first bit is mostly a setup to remind you of how brutal the moon really is.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Sorry, slightly snowed under and wanting to give everyone a chance to post. I hope to do an update this evening.

Radiation in SF. At least as I understand it. If someone thinks I have this wrong, happy to have it corrected.
Part 1 : active exposure.
At this stage are facing the initial exposure to radiation. This is a poison effect (constitution track). If you progress too far down the track, you then may get radiation sickness.
As soon as you leave the area with radiation, you stop having to make new saves, but so long as you are in the radiation, it is saves once a round. This is the exposure that your armour normally protects you from (depending on your armour level and the degree of radiation).
Even after leaving the area of radiation, you still need rest to recover from this affect.
Part 2: Radiation sickness.
If you progress too far down the radiation poison track, you have to start making saves vs radiation sickness. This is a disease(physical track) effect (although non contagious). To recover from this is pretty tough to do without assistance as you need three consecutive fort saves.
Sefel is currently in the "latent" stage of radiation sickness, but in the impaired state on the poison track.
Budface is also 7hp down from his initial exposure to the radiation as well, something I forgot to put in the status update.
