Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

You get ready and leave towards the town.
You notice that the tracks of the 2 hobgoblins turned towards the mine.
You ignore them and move towards the town.
The rest of the day is pretty standard and uneventful.

When the evening starts you have moved quite some ground.

Giving you the opportunity to do something before proceeding.
Do you want to do something special during the night?
What did you do with Fat's armor?

Really not much else to do, really.

"Duncan, can you wear this armor? Seems heavy" - Akkramar nods at the gear they recovered from Fat Fartsbag.

Yep set up watches and sleep

That's it. And during travel setup a forward scouting thing, with one or two people. Akkramar seems right, and additionally I'd say myself or Lukas for backup

Lukas is not a scout, he goes with the group

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

During the day from time to time you see John and Peter far away, you are more or less following the same path, but by nightfall, you do not know where they are.

Duncan let me know if you are wearing the armor or not.

After a calm night, you get back on the road, you walk all day, you have been traveling a road that winds lazily across the rolling grasslands of the Greenfields.

Sundown is approaching when you top a rise and see the town of Greenest just a few short miles away. But instead of the pleasant, welcoming town you wished for, you see that you have reached Greenest too late!
Columns of black smoke rising from burning buildings, you see several running figures that are little more than dots at this distance a scenario that you hoped to have been able to avoid ...

Suddenly, you all view a dark, winged shape wheeling low over the keep that rises above the center of the town.
Greenest is being attacked by a dragon!

Image here

"Impressive" - Akkramar comments, perched from atop an observation position - "I hope they have heavy weapons in town, because they will need it"

So... - Lukas looks dumbfounded - this is unexpected

He starts to move forward still trying to come up with some sort of a plan Come on, we have to try to help somehow

Prepared spell: Illusion

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

As you approach Greenest, you see in better detail the blue dragon and humanoids (maybe humans, elfs, ...) covered with robes ... there are talking and rumors about a Cult of the Dragon, could this be it?

As you follow the dragon's attack, you saw his breath destroying parts of the city and killing several of its inhabitants ...
But when you are still moving towards town, the dragon ceases to attack and lands on a nearby hill where what seem like a few hooded figures awaited him. (at this distance and with the sun going down you can't really see any better)

The sun has set by the time you reach the edge of town.
The burning buildings and a half-moon provide dim light throughout the town.

You are now at the edge of town. You see several buildings burning and hear people screaming mostly in all directions.
How do you want to proceed?

If the armor is better then the one I have then I'll use it. ofc :)

We need to get those robed moth&% f*#%&s

"We should not have come here" - Akkramar grunts, then dashes into town, intent on helping as he can.

What I do depends on what I find... I assume getting people from under collapsed rubble, putting out fires, carrying (or tending) to the wounded. Stuff like that.

Lukas tries to help out, same as Akkramar
While he moves around town, he tries to understand what happened and what's happening now

Did the attack came from out of nowhere?

What are they waiting, have any of them spoke or yelled anything about their intentions?

Who's in charge?

How's the guard holding on?

diplomacy(12): 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5

I'm thinking this is a stressfull situation so I'll make an IQ roll to keep my ghost in check
will(13): 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) = 7

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Duncan just with the armor, weapon and shield you are carrying close to 80 lbs. You are with light encumberance.
Basic Move x 0.8. Dodge -1

dodge -1 check

Guys dont show up yet. We need to get rid of the hooded figures. we could try to get closer and when the dragon goes for another attack, or leaves their side we should be ready to attack them.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

As you ponder what to do, Akkramar dashes forward, without warning, five humans dash out from between two buildings on his left. A limping man and three young children race across the street into more shadows, and a woman carrying a round shield and a broken spear turns and faces back in the direction from which they came.

Soon after, eight kobolds stream out of the alley on the family’s heels and fan out around the woman, who looks determined to delay the creatures for as long as possible...

The woman's plight resonates with Akkramar, as she defends her young and wounded as a she-wolf would - "Here!" - he roars at the kobolds, unleashing an arrow - "Dogs are not worthy of nipping at wolves' heels"

Arrow Shot (skill is 20): 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) = 10
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

The kobolds were unaware of you so you score an easy hit on the hobgoblin.
The arrow trespasses the kobold killing him on the spot!

There are 7 more kobolds that were taken by surprise just like the family they froze when the arrow hit the first kobold!

Guys, it's your turn to act. Akkramar is 20 feet away from the kobolds and the rest are 30 feet away.

Initiative:
- Akkramar (already acted)
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Lukas
- Z'orto

Rolls:

1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 4
1d6 ⇒ 4

Lukas was also moving but as he sees the situation, he slows down, concentrating on his magic. As he mumbles some strange words, he points forward and smiles. Around him a small army of me appear, clad in heavy armor and wileding long spears, the sound of their boots echo in the street as the move forward

Illusion, two yard radius around me. The ghost concentrates on changing the spell to Ice storm

IQ roll for the perception checks: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) = 7

There goes the plan of catching the hooded guys controling the dragon - mumbles Duncan to himself - ...well like my uncle used to say: a good kobold is a dead kobold

If I can, I charge to the closest kobold and attack him. If I can't I want to run and place myself between the kobolds and the human family to attack the next round.

If I can attack
attack: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) = 13
Dam if hits: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5) + 6 = 19

When it's Seamus' turn he wants to get between the family and the kobold pack and stands his ground.

If he can still act, he casts Penetrating Weapon and braces for the onslaught.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Duncan, you are 30 feet away so this round you run 7 feet, you are now at 23 feet from the group.

Seamus, you can move and cast, so you cast Penetrating Weapon and run 6 feet, you are now at 24 feet from the group.

Z'orto also runs towards the group and is now at 24 feet from the group.

The kobolds and the family are still surprised this round.
your turn to act:
- Akkramar
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Lukas
- Z'orto

Spoiler:

3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4) = 12

Same intention, I move to stand between the family and the kobolds and cast Bull Strength.

Lukas keeps advancing slowly casting more spells

Ice storm on them. The ideia is to scare them with my army so I'll roll intimidate. The ghost concentrates on changing the spell to Blood boil

ice storm: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
intimidate(13): 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3) = 11

Akkramar lets off another shot at the closest kobold - "You better run off!"

Arrow Shot (skill is 20): 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4) = 11
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18

I keep running then...

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Duncan, you are 23 feet away so this round you run 8 feet (the 2nd+ turns you run faster), you are now at 15 feet from the group.
Seamus, you cast Bull Strength and run 7 feet (the 2nd+ turns you run faster), you are now at 17 feet from the group.
Z'orto also runs towards the group and is now at 17 feet from the group.
Akkramar you kill another Kobold, your arrow impales him right in the heart.
Lukas, your ice storm hits the entire group and the group seems severely damaged all of the Kobolds.

The kobolds are still surprised this round, but the family seems to wake up.

your turn to act:
- Akkramar
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Lukas
- Z'orto

Movie plot spoiler:

3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) = 15
3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) = 10

Just keep on runnin' until I get there, then start killin'...

Lukas draws his shield, and the ghost his sword as they keep advancing

"Or not" - Akkramar snarls and shoots again.

Arrow Shot (skill is 20): 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1) = 9
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Akkramar kills another kobold on the spot!
Lukas ice storm bombards the battlefield, killing the remaining Kobolds.

The woman and the man look incredulous at the situation.
And then the woman turns to you Thank you! I wasn't expecting to see friendly people so far away from the keep.

Then you notice that the man is severely wounded.
You all have time to get close to the family if you wish to.

Ice Storm: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8

Seamus wants to get close and check how everybody's doing, but since he's no healer he walks away and moves in the direction the kobolds were coming, to see if there's more.

He moves a bit, maybe 50' to 75' and keeps watch.

Lukas resumes his earlier actions, helping people and trying to gain information

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Lukas, around here you don't see anyone else it seems except for this family everyone else is dead or fled. Occasionally You do hear sounds of people further into the city.

Seamus as you move down the road from where they came, on the first intersection you look around left and right and see more kobolds pillaging and burning homes. Straight ahead you don't see anyone but you hear the sounds of stuff breaking and kobolds laughing.

I think that the best thing to do is to get this family to the keep and whomever we find on the way.

Seamus goes back to the group and reports on what he saw.

So, do we stick around and help fend off the kobolds, bite at the tail of the snake, or do we ignore this and go strike at the head?

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

The family is close to you so they hear you speaking.
Woman: Raiders are everywhere but they are not very organized.
We are hurt and it would be difficult for us alone to reach the keep in safety.
Please help us make our way to the keep, it’s the only safe place in Greenest.
The raiders haven’t set up an effective cordon around the keep, so it’s still possible to move through the front gate, but not for long I fear.

I agree with Duncan, let's move and pick up any survivors we find

So be it. Let's move!

Is the husband ok to walk? If not I can support/carry him for as long as Bull Strength holds up.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Woman: Thank you. We should hurry!

Seamus The husband is badly hurt, he can walk but slower than normal.
Carrying the smaller child will speed up the group.

Akkramar moves a bit ahead of the group as they decide if they will carry the child or not, and scouts the path they will be taking.

Stealth(skill is 16): 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) = 11

Yup Seamus carries the child, whatever it takes to get this done and move on.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

The family knows the way around town and with their help you manage to easily avoid multiple raider groups.

You reach a spot where you are on a street and all the passages are blocked, what seems to be the "easiest" passage is through a square, but in that square, you see 5 kobolds.

"Can you again do one of those clouds that kills all at once?" - Akkramar whispered to Lukas.

Of course - Lukas winks and gestures towards the group

ice storm: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8

Can I attack the kobold nerest to me or is he to far away?

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

See the map in app.roll20.net

From the corner of the street you are in, it's more or less 5 hexes until the 1st kobold.

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Lukas casts his Ice Storm and hits 3 kobolds and leaving them completely flat-footed!

It's Akkramar to act
Innitiative
- Lukas
- Akkramar
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Z'orto

Dices:

3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10

Akkramar steps forward, and fires a shot at the closest kobold.

Bow Shot (skill is 20): 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) = 14
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10

Scarab Sages

Male Human Wizard 1

Akkramar fires an arrow that hits the kobold leaving him grasping for air ...

Akkramar is hiting the closest one so I run towards the 2nd closest (the one on the right I guess). 5 hexes means 25 feet? ee

I want to charge the kobold.
