You get ready and leave towards the town.
You notice that the tracks of the 2 hobgoblins turned towards the mine.
You ignore them and move towards the town.
The rest of the day is pretty standard and uneventful.
When the evening starts you have moved quite some ground.
Giving you the opportunity to do something before proceeding.
Do you want to do something special during the night?
What did you do with Fat's armor?

During the day from time to time you see John and Peter far away, you are more or less following the same path, but by nightfall, you do not know where they are.
Duncan let me know if you are wearing the armor or not.
After a calm night, you get back on the road, you walk all day, you have been traveling a road that winds lazily across the rolling grasslands of the Greenfields.
Sundown is approaching when you top a rise and see the town of Greenest just a few short miles away. But instead of the pleasant, welcoming town you wished for, you see that you have reached Greenest too late!
Columns of black smoke rising from burning buildings, you see several running figures that are little more than dots at this distance a scenario that you hoped to have been able to avoid ...
Suddenly, you all view a dark, winged shape wheeling low over the keep that rises above the center of the town.
Greenest is being attacked by a dragon!

![]() |

As you approach Greenest, you see in better detail the blue dragon and humanoids (maybe humans, elfs, ...) covered with robes ... there are talking and rumors about a Cult of the Dragon, could this be it?
As you follow the dragon's attack, you saw his breath destroying parts of the city and killing several of its inhabitants ...
But when you are still moving towards town, the dragon ceases to attack and lands on a nearby hill where what seem like a few hooded figures awaited him. (at this distance and with the sun going down you can't really see any better)
The sun has set by the time you reach the edge of town.
The burning buildings and a half-moon provide dim light throughout the town.
You are now at the edge of town. You see several buildings burning and hear people screaming mostly in all directions.
How do you want to proceed?

Lukas Ardheim |

Lukas tries to help out, same as Akkramar
While he moves around town, he tries to understand what happened and what's happening now
Did the attack came from out of nowhere?
What are they waiting, have any of them spoke or yelled anything about their intentions?
Who's in charge?
How's the guard holding on?
diplomacy(12): 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5
I'm thinking this is a stressfull situation so I'll make an IQ roll to keep my ghost in check
will(13): 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) = 7

As you ponder what to do, Akkramar dashes forward, without warning, five humans dash out from between two buildings on his left. A limping man and three young children race across the street into more shadows, and a woman carrying a round shield and a broken spear turns and faces back in the direction from which they came.
Soon after, eight kobolds stream out of the alley on the family’s heels and fan out around the woman, who looks determined to delay the creatures for as long as possible...

Akkramar |

The woman's plight resonates with Akkramar, as she defends her young and wounded as a she-wolf would - "Here!" - he roars at the kobolds, unleashing an arrow - "Dogs are not worthy of nipping at wolves' heels"
Arrow Shot (skill is 20): 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) = 10
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11

![]() |

The kobolds were unaware of you so you score an easy hit on the hobgoblin.
The arrow trespasses the kobold killing him on the spot!
There are 7 more kobolds that were taken by surprise just like the family they froze when the arrow hit the first kobold!
Guys, it's your turn to act. Akkramar is 20 feet away from the kobolds and the rest are 30 feet away.
Initiative:
- Akkramar (already acted)
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Lukas
- Z'orto

1d6 ⇒ 4
1d6 ⇒ 4

Lukas Ardheim |

Lukas was also moving but as he sees the situation, he slows down, concentrating on his magic. As he mumbles some strange words, he points forward and smiles. Around him a small army of me appear, clad in heavy armor and wileding long spears, the sound of their boots echo in the street as the move forward
Illusion, two yard radius around me. The ghost concentrates on changing the spell to Ice storm
IQ roll for the perception checks: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) = 7

Duncan Freespirit |

There goes the plan of catching the hooded guys controling the dragon - mumbles Duncan to himself - ...well like my uncle used to say: a good kobold is a dead kobold
If I can, I charge to the closest kobold and attack him. If I can't I want to run and place myself between the kobolds and the human family to attack the next round.
If I can attack
attack: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) = 13
Dam if hits: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5) + 6 = 19

Duncan, you are 30 feet away so this round you run 7 feet, you are now at 23 feet from the group.
Seamus, you can move and cast, so you cast Penetrating Weapon and run 6 feet, you are now at 24 feet from the group.
Z'orto also runs towards the group and is now at 24 feet from the group.
The kobolds and the family are still surprised this round.
your turn to act:
- Akkramar
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Lukas
- Z'orto
3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4) = 12

Duncan, you are 23 feet away so this round you run 8 feet (the 2nd+ turns you run faster), you are now at 15 feet from the group.
Seamus, you cast Bull Strength and run 7 feet (the 2nd+ turns you run faster), you are now at 17 feet from the group.
Z'orto also runs towards the group and is now at 17 feet from the group.
Akkramar you kill another Kobold, your arrow impales him right in the heart.
Lukas, your ice storm hits the entire group and the group seems severely damaged all of the Kobolds.
The kobolds are still surprised this round, but the family seems to wake up.
your turn to act:
- Akkramar
- Duncan
- Seamus
- Lukas
- Z'orto
3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) = 15
3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) = 10

Akkramar kills another kobold on the spot!
Lukas ice storm bombards the battlefield, killing the remaining Kobolds.
The woman and the man look incredulous at the situation.
And then the woman turns to you Thank you! I wasn't expecting to see friendly people so far away from the keep.
Then you notice that the man is severely wounded.
You all have time to get close to the family if you wish to.
Ice Storm: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8

![]() |

Lukas, around here you don't see anyone else it seems except for this family everyone else is dead or fled. Occasionally You do hear sounds of people further into the city.
Seamus as you move down the road from where they came, on the first intersection you look around left and right and see more kobolds pillaging and burning homes. Straight ahead you don't see anyone but you hear the sounds of stuff breaking and kobolds laughing.

![]() |

The family is close to you so they hear you speaking.
Woman: Raiders are everywhere but they are not very organized.
We are hurt and it would be difficult for us alone to reach the keep in safety.
Please help us make our way to the keep, it’s the only safe place in Greenest.
The raiders haven’t set up an effective cordon around the keep, so it’s still possible to move through the front gate, but not for long I fear.

![]() |

The family knows the way around town and with their help you manage to easily avoid multiple raider groups.
You reach a spot where you are on a street and all the passages are blocked, what seems to be the "easiest" passage is through a square, but in that square, you see 5 kobolds.

![]() |

See the map in app.roll20.net
From the corner of the street you are in, it's more or less 5 hexes until the 1st kobold.
