I'm stuck on the number of eyes thing but I really don't know team... I'm imagining this room is a big combo lock. Sunsets in the west so maybe we turn left/counter clockwise for those and right/clockwise for sunrise?
The number of clicks though escapes me, maybe it is number of eyes to number of eyes but the Medusa really kinda throws a wrench in there with a bunch of serpent hair eyes.
Does anyone have any knowledge skills to identify these statues? Would History apply here @GMF or are any of them common knowledge? Was i wrong at all on my count of eyes?
Taking a stab could be:
Turn to Gorilla/6 clockwise
First wall/1 counterclockwise
Back to start/8 clockwise (dern Medusa...)
Wall2/Dragon counterclockwise
All the way back round Wall2/Dragon clockwise...
Kinda assumed Kellan knew what a Dragon was but I had to look up a couple on the parchment and I still have no idea what some of the statues are...

Sorry my dashboard also didn’t update as well. But based off your idea which I think is a good start I think the parchment had mislabeled some of the creatures; maybe have if to try and connect back to what they might be?
I know that Renac most likely would not be able to identify these creatures; possibly even the parchment ones. But I think they work out to be:
Chimera - giant possibly
Cyclops - Beholder/tentacles monster
Medusa - aboleth possibly
Umber Hulk- Gorilla
Basilisk - Dragon

Could be simple enough as you said Kellan, left and right to each statue in order on the parchment.. give it a go? I'm sure given understanding the lock and enough time.. the party can figure it out.. but bhru is as thick as stone, so i am him :)

Man... we're kind of a party of charming dummies without Ukufa... Katigar at least has a positive Wis.
I have negative Wis and no bonus/average Int... I can take a stab at it but other than just bumbling about it seems unlikely Kellan would have any justification for his actions. Is it just me or is this especially jarring in PbP...
Would these creatures fall under general knowledge @GMF? Enough so anyways to know how many eyes each might have?
GM Fanguar |
Some of them would fall under common adventurer knowledge, but not all.
That being said, Katigar literally has an ability called monster lore and Ukufa has the knowledge skills to know how many eyes each of the monsters on the parchment has.
You guys have the gist of the puzzle solved, so if someone wants to gameplay post I think we can crack this safe open.

Just in case anyone missed this and still can't get on.
Here is the information concerning the outage today and not being able to sign into Paizo. They appear to be back up now, but you have to go into your settings and manually delete you cookies associated with Paizo first to be able to sign in. (May take several attempts. Mine took deleting the cookies three times before it stuck.
If anyone needs assistance or questions I am on Discord (Tyranius#2300)
Kellan Ved |
Huzzah! Its working... I'd already tried deleting cookies several times so I guess that worked I'm back in!
So split up I guess and meet at an arranged time? Say four hours after we leave here, like 1400/2pmish. Hot damn have I got a diplomacy score and centripetal for this!

I haven't bothered to use slides, mostly since I generally don't provide that much extra stuff that needs to be put together.
There's something to be said to not having players fiddle with the map, but if people want to, I've adjusted the permissions, so that you can move their your tokens. If you want me to continue to do so for you, just let me know. (I know it's not super phone friendly.)

Sorry for not posting much lately.
I am waiting for a new laptop and I broke a finger on Monday, so posting on the phone is difficult as well.
I will get back to proper frequency once the new laptop arrives.

Morning gang - just a wee heads up that I'm in today for lockdown overdue surgery on my sinuses. Not a major procedure but means I'll likely be out of the loop for 24-72 depending on success, pain meds and all that fun stuff.
Please bot Ukufa as/when necessary until I'm (figuratively and literally) back in the game.

I feel as useless as a level 1 wizard in 3e!
I wish I had more cantrips available: having disrupt undead would be fun right now.
Mainly, Voronwe is a poor scholar. Next time he gets some cash, he'll definitely invest in a few alchemist's fire and holy water vials.

Sorry for my absence gang - been immersed in an audit all week. Ops (my role) came through with flying colours today - so chilling tonight and will get back in the posting tomorrow.

Sorry for going AWOL lately.
Work/Life got crazy for a little while.
We had my wife's 40th birthday.
We had a load of other delayed birthday things (here in the UK, lockdown has just been eased).
I was the busiest I have ever been at work: I'm a teacher whose students are all doing end-of-year exams. Due to COVID, the exams were all cancelled and replaced by teacher-assessed-grades. The exam boards did not explain how to gather, evidence and share these grades until very late in the metaphorical day. I have done so much marking and assessment, I've started dreaming about assessment criteria.
I should get back on track with all of my games over the next few days.
Ukufa |
Whereabout in UK are you Voronwe? I'm up in Aberdeen.
Have friends working in education - saying the same, exam boards had a destination just forgot to give the schools and institutes the map to get there! Don't envy you my friend.

I'm in Warwickshire.
I do have a little sympathy for the exam boards. They had a good plan last year but then the politicians lost their nerve.
This year, it feels like they have decided to protect themselves by offloading all responsibility onto teachers and calling it 'flexibility'.
All they want is assessed work that they can look at to verify teachers' grades (like they do with coursework). Apart from that, they're keeping well clear.
The problem is that they suggested that they would give us more guidance and support, including assessment options, and then left us, last minute, saying 'What? Is that it? We have to do it all off our own backs?' If we had known that much earlier then we could have been much better organised.

So this is an new scenario for me in PF... I'm now back to positive HP but was unconscious and grappled yet my turn is coming up before the zombies... I have a rule question @GMF, do I get a turn having technically been roused last round? If so, I believe I can attempt to attack or attempt to break the hold, but not both, correct?
GM Fanguar |
If you are conscious you may act.
If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent’s CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent’s CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can). Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that doesn’t require two hands to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack or full attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you. See the grappled condition for additional details.

Apologies for being MIA gang - work has been uber busy and been struggling for motivation/inspiration for my games.
Have massively appreciated the patience, but probably makes sense if you look for a replacement for Ukufa to keep the momentum up.
Thanks again - especially to GMF.
Ukufa |
On the party makeup - am happy enough to continue with the four of us at present - could be our MIA duo come back, if not we could look at bolstering our arcane spell casting?
Regards levelling up - HP rolled or average +1?
