Ardriel recognizes the spell he just cast. Leothar moves up and when his hand touches the wall gives a two handed swing and Radiance almost vibrates out of his hand. Enos looks around but doesn't see her anywhere.
There is no AoO, Dadna can't do one as Leothar said.
Round 3
Ardriel, Dadna, Enos Up
T 39
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
With nothing else that she could do, Dadna looked for the missing mage. ”Everyone, make a line at the force wall. If she drops the wall to get out, it gives us a chance of finding out.” If she is still even here. Dadna thought glumly. She didn’t like how helpless it felt when facing such magic. All it took was one spell and everyone was as useless as an axe at an archery contest.
Ardriel Zinro |
"She isn't invisible - she used a dimension door to teleport away. I don't know where she is."
Ardriel pulls out another scroll and attempts to dispel the Wall of Force.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Mythic Surge: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Mythic Surge Reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 1
23 total on the Caster Level check to dispel the Wall of Force.
Leothar |
"Smash it down, Dadna."
Wall of Force has Hardness 30, so Leothar isn't doing much... but Dadna's Mythic Vital Strike will.
Dadna Cloudbreaker |

Damage: 2d10 + 32 - 20 ⇒ (6, 4) + 32 - 20 = 22
If we cannot dispel it, Dadna will swing away at it until it is destroyed...and our buffs run out
Leothar |
I imagine we are staying in rounds, since she may have gone to get reinforcements. And you and Ardriel are now locked away in a prison. She's not going to wait long enough for our buffs to run out, as that would mean waiting long enough for the Wall of Force to vanish. I will try to hold out as long as I can. Still have 4/7 LoH and 5/7 Mythic Power, Bull's Strength (cast at time-count 2.5), Protection from Evil (3.6) and Eagle's Splendor (3.7). We are now at time-count 4.1 I think, so have some time left on those. Also have Enlarge Person if I need it, though it hurts my AC.
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
It could also mean that she retreated deeper into the fortress. Tells everyone that we are here, and that we are currently cut off from each other due to her spell. So she would be coming back with more forces to kill us. And Dadna will be swinging away until she gets back to try and ensure that we aren't stuck here...hence why I put all of the rolls in. Just to be there should they be needed to move us along
Leothar |
"We lucked out there. Would have been in big trouble had she come back when we were split up.
I think we disrupted the ritual, and we did kill the demons assisting with it, but I'd feel more certain of that if we killed the caster. If she has time to get more allies and re-start the ritual... well, I think we at least bought ourselves some time.
Where to now? Deeper into the dungeon? Or start heading back?"
Ian Passeri |
Frustrated that the woman escaped, Ian gestures back towards the entrance, "Let's go deeper. But keep it tight, the chief's right, we're stronger when we're together."
Ardriel Zinro |
"Destroying it could unleash a wave of destructive magic upon the room - and us in it. Taking it with us might be the better option. Perhaps Aravashnial could more safely disperse the magic within."
How difficult would it be to get the crystal and take it with us? How big is the crystal?
Leothar |
"Let's leave it for now."
Leothar hesitates.
"I don't like this. The caster on the bridge escaped with his wand of teleportation. He hasn't reappeared. Now this caster has escaped. We might have to fight both of them at once, and we know that there are demons above us. Still, if we can retrieve the Sword of Valor, we will be in a better position to combat them.
I suppose we should press on unless there is a strong preference for retreating. I have sufficient power left, I believe.
If we are to retreat, I'll destroy the crystal before we leave. I can use the scale of levitation and the adamantine axe."
Leothar moves to the double doors in the southeast. Are they locked?
He also checks them for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Enos Flamebrother |
Enos moves to the doors with Leothar to provide a second search.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
And if they found none, he will attempt to unlock the doors.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (15) + 24 = 39
Ian Passeri |
Nodding in agreement with Leothar, "Destroying the crystal is better than letting it fall into the enemy's hands again."
As Enos works on the door, Ian keeps a keen eye out, to make sure no one is approaching from the rear.
Ardriel Zinro |
"Destroying the crystal could also destroy the entire Citadel. We can come back and retrieve it after we have the Sword of Valor."
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
"Aye, that we can. And it may prove useful to our cause." Dadna added in. "Keep faith in that we will prevail." She said, her head held up high. "Our cause is just and the Gods are with us. Let us press on, and bring these heretics to justice."
Enos Flamebrother |
Enos inspects the door and finds no traps and easily unlocks it.
5.1
Prot. from Evil spells cast at the entrance to the dungeon are now gone.
I had to check - I cast just before your post with 2 - is that minutes? So it's been three minutes?
Ian Passeri |
Nodding his head in agreement with Ardriel, Ian realized the archmage was probably right. As he followed the chief to the double doors in the south east corner, he realized if worst came to worst, it should probably be him who stays and destroys the thing. Smiling at Dadna's positive attitude, he hoped she was right.
Once Enos unlocks the doors, Ian moves closer intent on staying near the dwarves so his defensive magic may be useful,
Ardriel Zinro |
Mine and Ian's are still up - Arcane Endurance Mythic Path Ability gives my Prot from Evil spells a 9 minute duration.
"Let's keep moving."
Enos Flamebrother |
Enos Flamebrother wrote:Yours is gone you cast with the others.I had to check - I cast just before your post with 2 - is that minutes? So it's been three minutes?
I wasn’t questioning that, I was curious about the timekeeping for future reference.
DM Trawets |
The doors reveal a short hallway that turns left and then goes down some stairs to another set of doors. Enos examines them and finding no traps unlocks the doors.
Swaths of pulsating red lichen illuminate this long, 30-foot-high,alcove-lined hall. The alcoves themselves display elaborate, colorful murals of demonic entities, each with inscriptions chiseled into the stone below them. At the far end of the hall stands a massive iron framework that displays a red banner. The murals on the walls depicts the demon lord Deskari mutilating and savaging a different deity—Iomedae, Sarenrae, Torag, Desna, and Shelyn. You hear what sounds like spellcasting coming from the larger alcove.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
DD: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36
Ian Passeri |
Letting out a low growl when he see's the murals, Ian believes he recognizes the sound of someone casting a spell. Torn between keeping a defensive posture and getting to the demon worshiper before they can cast too many spells, he looks to Leothar, "Chief, It might be best if those of us who can run fast get to that caster."
Leothar |
"We're not splitting up again. I'm not getting that far ahead of you."
Leothar moves out into the room and uses Divine Bond to enhance Radiance, making it Holy.
Ian Passeri |
Nodding his head in agreement with the chief, Ian stays close, ready to use his defensive magic to help his friends.
DM Trawets |
As the party moves into the room the casting stops and a large rocklike creature appears in the hall.

Ian Passeri |
Seeing the rock-like creature appear in the hall, Ian guesses, "Anyone else think that spell may have been summoning a rock monster?" Considering his ability to detect evil, he realizes he's too far away and he doesn't want to stop moving long enough to try it anyway. As they move forwards, he adds, 'When we get a little close I can use the power of my faith or holy shield."
He will delay and move forwards at the same pace as everyone else. Either a double move, or single. If it's a single move he will use a standard action to cast Power of Faith
Ardriel Zinro |
Ardriel frowns. "Would a shadow demon summon a rock monster to defend the Sword of Valor, or do you think this is another fake like the one upstairs? And if so, do you think we could avoid this rock monster entirely with a way around?"
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
"I don't see a way past it." Dadna said. She then added "Leothar, I'm with ye."
Will move to be behind Leothar as he advances
Leothar |
"Good question, Ardriel, but I think the caster that fled is here."
Leothar takes a 5' step and starts casting Enlarge Person.

Ardriel Zinro |
Ardriel looks back at the other set of double doors across from the ones where they came in and says, "No sense leaving the caster at our backs, but I don't think that's the real Sword."
Ardriel tests the effectiveness of his arrows on the rock monster.

Leothar steps forward and begins to enlarge himself. Ian begins glowing sharing the power of Iomade with his friends. Ardriel fires at the creature and the first arrow bounces off and the second leaves a small scratch.
From out of the alcove steps the tiefling except there are six indistinct versions of her moving around encased in wispy green flames. She moves out and points her fingers at you as lightning flies from them striking Dadna and Ardriel. The creature lumbers forward and slams Leothar hard.

Dadna grimaced in pain as the electricity washed over her. She barely got out of the way of the worst of it, but in doing so it became nearly impossible to attack the golem. However, the divine power inside all of them allowed them to do the impossible. Pushing herself past her own limits, she forced the heavy weapon back around, and smashed it across the side of the creature.
Leothar |
@Dadna, did you count Ian's Power of Faith bonus (+1 morale to hit and damage)? That, combined with the fact that the creature seemingly charged Leothar, might make your first attack a hit. And of course +2 damage on each hit (+1, doubled for Mythic Vital Strike).
Leothar's spell is disrupted he cannot make a DC 43 Concentration check but that is fine. It drew the rock creature into a vulnerable position that Dadna took advantage of.
Will wait to see if Dadna dropped the the creature before deciding on my turn.
Ardriel Zinro |
Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Ardriel took the brunt of the lightning blast, screaming in pain as it pulsed through him. He quickly heals himself a little, then fires a pair of arrows at the Tiefling before preparing to fire another at her if she begins casting a spell.
Lay on Hands: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 4) = 19
Swift Action to Lay on Hands. Full Attack vs the Tiefling, then spend a Mythic Power for a Standard action to ready an attack against her if she casts a spell. I made her the target of my Smite Evil here, which persists until she's dead or until the next time I rest and regain uses. I'm not sure if there are 7 Tieflings total (6 images + original) or 6 Tieflings total (5 images + original), so I didn't roll that.

Ian Passeri |
Realizing they would need to get past the rock monster before the could get to the tiefling, Ian cals out, "For Iomedae and Kenabras!" Lifting the 'ladies gift' he waives it in an impressive display.
5 ft step, full action Iomedae's Inspiring Sword
For all of you:
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.
Iomedae's Inspiring Sword: 1 st of 2 rds. While wielding a longsword, you can perform an impressive display of prowess as a full-round action. All allies within 30 feet who can see your display gain a +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 round + 1 round per 5 points of base attack bonus you have.
Power of Faith 2/10 rds. This causes a nimbus of light to emanate from the warrior of the holy light in a 30-foot radius. Dadna manages to miss most of the lightning bolt but Ardriel never sees it coming. Dadna moves and swings at the creature glancing off of it with PoF. Surge: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4
If his attacks destroy the summoned creature, he will then use Amazing Initiative for an extra standard action, channeling to heal the party LoH now at 2/7, and Mythic Power now at 3/7 if the Surge was needed or 4/7 otherwise.
