Fley nods at Leothar as he moves in to the corner, drawing both his weapons. "Thank you for looking after me friends. Do you think he's coming back?".

Leothar wrote:
"Let's form up. Fley in the corner, Dadna against the closed door, and the other three of us forming a barrier to the south of them."

Nodding in agreement with Leothar, he shifts out of the way, letting the others move behind him. Looking for the demon, waiting to see if it casts darkness. Wondering what supernatural skills he could use against it.

Readied action, if it casts darkness, he will use daylight, if it attacks he will cast PoF with the his last LoH.

Time passes and then the group begins to see darkness emerge from the room to the west. It fills the western part of the room and then those with darkvision see the demon step into the room in the center of the darkness. He points at Leothar and a black bolt of energy streaks from his finger striking Leothar in the chest and he feels weaker. Negattive Levels: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Touch: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Round 18

I made a mistake on the radius of the darkness. It's 60' so much bigger areas were in darkness. When you closed the northern door in this room it returned to normal light levels. When Ian casts his daylight the light level will return to normal light.

Dadna moved forward to attack the demon. But the sudden change in light caused her attack to falter as she ran into a chair. She kept to her feet, but it was still not ideal.

DM Trawets wrote:

Just clarifying, the readied action (daylight spell) was round 17.

Relieved his aasimarian light was able to remove the darkness, Ian moves forward behind Dadna, releasing his faith, increasing the light even more. Speaking to the demon, trying to take it's attention away from his friends. "You should have fled when you had the chance demon."

AC 26/27 vs demon, Divine bond:+ 1 shield enhancement 9th of 10 rds. Move action: 10 ft, Standard cast PoF
For you all
PoF 1st of 10 rds. This causes a nimbus of light to emanate from the warrior of the holy light in a 30-foot radius. All allies in this area (including the warrior of the holy light) receive a +1 morale bonus to AC and on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear as long as they remain in the area of light. This power lasts for 1 minute.
Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.

This demon has rolled 3, 3, and 4 on 1d4 for what I think is Eneveration. Not only is it crafty and elusive, it is also damn lucky.

I think furniture prevents Leothar from moving 20' and attacking, and he is down to 1 Mythic power.

Leothar moves closer to the demon and uses Total Defense (since he can't quite get close enough to hit it).

AC 27 against the demon, with +4 from Total Defense and +1 PoF.

The readied action was if he cast darkness. He did not cast any spells they were already in effect

so seeing the darkness approaching doesn't count? I mean the demon did cast darkness at some point in time, Ian just became aware of it in that round :)

You can cast it in round 18 when you became aware of it.

ok, since 18 is described already, he will cast it in 19.

Fley hears Leothar scream as his strength is sapped. "Hey, you. Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"

Dadna moves forward and misses the demon. Leothar moves to get closer to be able to attack. Enveloped in the darkness Ian tries to activate the power of his faith and even though he can feel the power it doesn't do anything in the darkness. Fley then stumbles forward in the dark while Ardriel readies an arrow if there is light.

The demon stares at at the group and you feel your life being sucked out of you. Everyone make a DC 18 fort save or gain a negative level The demon then is on his guard as he concentrates on something and steps forward and touches Leothar who feels drained by the touch.

Okay... so Leothar has now lost 25 HP from negative levels, and now 15 from that attack. And he is at 5 negative levels. Can't take another one from that gaze attack.

On the brink of death, Leothar moves south taking the AOO, and strikes at the demon.

Feeling the darkness wash over him, Ian resists the cold clammy sensation of the demons dark stare. From deep within himself, something wells up. As if generations of celestials call to him, to 'know' himself. For the first time, he begins to glow with a light, not from his faith in someone or something else, but from inside of himself. Seeing the demon for the first time, Ian raises an eyebrow, looking at the thing. "What? You? Your the one causing all this fuss?" Smiling, he readies the demon bane sword.

I believe Ian intended to cast daylight, not light.

Ardriel resists the demon's gaze, preventing it from draining his life force. As Ian's light fills the room, he can finally see his foe, and he unleashes a pair of arrows at him.

Durr, yes, sorry about that got so excited about useing something that may penetrate the darkness that I didn't say it properly, he is casting daylight: Aasimars can use it once per day as a spell-like ability (caster level equal to the aasimar’s class level).

Dadna carefully moves by the desk and chair and attacks the demon, smaking it hard in the head. Leothar moves forward and attacks but Radiance is pushed aside. As the darkness turns to normal light Ardirel fires two arrows at the beast and one manages to find its mark and the demon falls.

Silence once again falls over the temple.

Leothar:
As the demon falls you feel warmness fill you traveling up your arm from Radiance. You feel strongly that you should spend time cleaning up the temple and removing the taint here.

With the demon fallen, Dadna fell to her knees, both in exhaustion and in prayer. She didn't even bother saying anything. She was just glad that it was over, and that those who had defiled the temple had been punished.

As Ardirel's arrow brings the demon down, Ian breaths a sigh of relief. "I'm surprised the thing was able to do so much damage to us. I must learn to deal with the darkness better." Looking to his friends, seeing Dadna fall to her knees, Leothar looking like death warmed over and poor Fley looking like he's barely able to stand. Ian jestures towards the altar. "I will check under the altar see if there is anything there that may help us."

While the others catch their breath, he moves to the alter sheathing his sword. looking for a way to move or investigate under the altar.

Leothar offers a prayer of thanks to Torag for the reliable aim of his allies. Would that I had done as well.
"I am in your debt. All of you. Thank you."

His very soul has been torn apart by the demon.
Those that but tear the flesh I can endure. How can I face a foe like that one?

"I take the blame. These rooms were individually too small to maneuver in, and taken together too extensive to back each other up.
Running around, getting separated... We should have shrunk the battlefield and closed doors.
And we should have prepared to disrupt its magic. We cannot use magic of our own to prevent teleporting, but a well-timed strike can do that."

That could easily have been a TPK had it used its Enervatiom to focus fire on Dadna (who did nearly all the damage).

Fley sits down, exhausted. "Thank the gods. I feared the worst. But we prevailed.". He nods as Leothar talks. "Don't blame yourself. It caught us unaware and unready. But now we know what kind of monsters we'll be up against. We can prepare better for the future."

Watching the others, Fley asks, "what now? I want to clear the taint out of this temple?". He eyes the body of the demon. "And we need to get rid that body."

Ian moves into the chapel to look for a way to find the rumored supplies.

"I concur. We must find a way for the two of us to do better when faced with darkness - I was blind as a bat. Perhaps there's something there to deal with that. I will assist you in cleaning and purifying the temple, Leothar. Let us send a message to the army first, to let them know what we are doing."

Calling back over his shoulder as he inspects the altar, Seamus calls back, disappointed how little most of his 'light' was. . "I was as blind as a bat as well. We will need greater power against the darkness."

Remembering how the others did so much to clean the altar dedicated to Iomedae he adds, "Clearing and restoring the temple is the least we can do."

Curious to how Ardriel would send a message he asks, "Yes a message would be good, how would we do it?"

While Ian is talking he will take 20 (21) on perception searching the altar

Fley half listens in to the conversation while staring directly at the body.

"Did you see that?" he whispers, second guessing himself. The body twitches some more.

"It's still alive! The demon! It's twitching!". Fley stands up, drawing his kukri.

When Ian gets halfway to the alter the room the room goes dark again. When he enters the temple the hair on the back of his head stand on end again and he feels slimy again. Ian spends two minutes looking for a trigger for the alter. Know there should be one and where it might be helps greatly and just as he is ready to give up he finds it. He trips the switch and a sizable hollow space below the altar is revealed. It is lined with lead and contains dozens and dozens of cure light wounds, enough for an army.

When Ian found the cache she smiled, though it was a tired one. "We have all done the will of the Gods here, today. And this cache will likely save more than a few lives. Well done, everyone."

As Dadna and the others enter the Chapel they feel the hairs on the back of their necks stand up and that slimy feeling all over.

Ardriel sits down to write a message to Irabeth, telling her what they encountered and their plan to reconsecrate the temple, as well as bury the two crusader's bodies they'd found. The army could camp for the day, and if she could send a few soldiers up to help carry the cache of healing potions down to the army, and ask Horgus to see to their distribution.

Nodding to Ardriel. "That's a good idea."

Keeping his halo illuminated Angus Takes his shield off, slinging it over his shoulder, unconsciously rubbing his arms. "Why does this room feel so...off?"

Leothar attempts to follow the lead of the others in cleaning the temple.

First, he will remove the demon's body, and those of the ghouls, taking them out to the courtyard and building a pyre.

He then focuses on any bloodstains, or any other remnants of torture (like the manacles that Dadna ripped out before). Scrubbing with water and praying for the souls of the defenders.

Then he will work on repairing the physical structure as best as he can. He is no stonemason, but will make an attempt.

He will pray to Torag for guidance, and will look to arrange things as they should be in such a temple.

After clearing the bodies from the building, Ian helps clear the debris and put things back in an orderly fashion. Scrapping dried blood off of the floors he begins to pray to Iomdeae for direction on how to help purify the temple and asking her to clear the dark, almost oily stain, from the atmosphere.

Not sure what needs to be done, Ian doesn't have spells or knowledge religion.

As the group cleans the temple, Ian gets the feeling that something isn't right in the chapel; the undead were more powerful there and it just feels evil.

”I, for one, don’t have the blessings to consecrate this temple.” Dadna said. ”And I’m sure that Torag wouldn’t want us to put our siege on hold. We have a war to win, and the best prayers we can offer is victory.” Her face was pale and she fought the shaking in her hands. She did not want to appear weak, and there was no point complaining over what couldn’t be fixed. ”Our main goal should be getting these resources to our men and women who will be fighting this war.”

"No, I think we should consecrate the temple. Radiance is... speaking to me. This is important.
I will go to fetch Sosiel and Aravashnial. To Dispel the evil magic and then Consecrate the temple. I am not fit to fight, but I can be a messenger. We will need Terendelev's scale of levitation, I think.
We will need to rest here anyway, for at least some of the demon's magic to wear off."
