Ian Passeri |
Stepping into the doorway, Ian points into the room with his sword. "By the lady of Valor, the Light of the Sword!" Then through the power of Faith he becomes a beacon of light.
5 ft step: Standard action: Power of Faith: This causes a nimbus of light to emanate from the warrior of the holy light in a 30-foot radius. All allies in this area (including the warrior of the holy light) receive a +1 morale bonus to AC and on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear as long as they remain in the area of light. This power lasts for 1 minute.

Leothar |

Nausea: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Well... Leothar can stay here and tank attacks at least.
Leothar coughs and hacks as the sulfurous fumes eat at his lungs.

Leothar |

Leothar will move back.
He will eat AOOs from two Dretches in doing so, but his AC is pretty good.

Fley Flaxon |

After Leothar moves out, Fley moves in. In the deep gutteral language of Abyssal, Fley continues to call these dretches names. "Evil beings. We will destroy you and everything you stand for.". He's hoping to distract the dretches long enough for Donnen to destroy them one by one.

Cold Iron Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Having moved back into position, Dadna was once more able to attack. She took a deep breath and then swung her weapon over Fley's head, seeking to avoid hitting either him or the kukri that he was waving around.

Donnen Phelps |

Donnen moves his waraxe with violence once again, letting it heavily slice against the enemy in front of him - and then cleave against the one at his southwest.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 - 2 + 1 = 23 PA, Inspire

Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 10 - 2 + 1 + 1 = 24 PA, Inspire, Cleave
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 4 = 14
If the enemy in front of him drops, he will five-foot-step towards the last enemy. If he doesn't drop but the other one at his southwest does, he will five-foot-step there as well - the goal is to approach in melee the last enemy if possible. He's not using his defensive stance this fight, and since he cleaved he got a penalty to his AC.

DM Trawets |

As Leothar moves out of the room he his hit by one claw. Dadna then comes in and hits and while Fley distracts them, Donnen drops both demons. Donnen then steps up to engage the last demon and eats two claws for his effort.

Round 7
Party Up

Ian Passeri |
Seeing Leothar struck while making room, Ian watches while Donnen is able to put down two Dretches, but grimaces' as the third hits his friend. Moving into the room, Ian swings his longsword at the last enemy.

All allies in this area (including the warrior of the holy light) receive a +1 morale bonus to AC and on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear as long as they remain in the area of light. This power lasts for 1 minute.
Edit: Do the attacks on Donnen take into account the + 1 AC for the PoF?

DM Trawets |

Ian moves into the room and puts a devastating hit on the demon, though it still stands.
Honestly, I am not sure what Donnen's AC is at the moment. I think he took 2 hits and maybe a third. I'll let him figure it out and let us know.
If anyone does something that affects the AC in your stat line would you please post your current ac at the end of your post for your turn? Thank you.

Dadna Cloudbreaker |

Hit: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 2 = 10
Cold Iron Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Feeling quite confident, Dadna swung her weapon for a killing blow! It would have obliterated a demon...if it connected. All it did was take a chunk out of the ceiling.

Fley Flaxon |

Fley dashes around the dretch (maybe provoking an AOO) to help flank with Ian.

He Fley, you didn't add the +1 to damage from the PoF, don't know if it matters much, but it increases you damage by 25%.

Thanks! Fley would do a total of 5 damage if he hits.

Donnen Phelps |

Donnen's AC was 23; it's usually 24, but he cleaved, and got 1 extra from Ian, so 24 - 2 + 1 = 23. I think only the second one hit. Does the creature claw bypasses DR adamantine? If it doesn't, then Donnen didn't take any damage.
Donnen does another sidestep to align with the enemy, and then swings with his waraxe again.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 10 - 2 + 1 = 26 PA, PoF
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 4 + 1 = 12
Donnen's AC at this point is 24 + 1 (PoF) = 25. He's not using defensive stance on this fight

Ian Passeri |
Seeing the dretches fall, the still glowing Ian Looks from the nauseated team members to Fley. "Hey Fley, while the chief is taking a break, why don't you sneak up the stairs and see what's in the hallway." He gestures towards Donnen and Dadna. "We got your back."
round 8, used 3 of 10 rounds for PoF

Dadna Cloudbreaker |

Dadna nodded, while fighting down the urge to wretch. If it wasn't suicide she would have volunteered to go up the stairs just in the hope of getting some fresh air.

Fley Flaxon |

Fley feels the claw slide across the side of his body. Take 4 points of damage. "That really hurt. But not as much as it'll hurt when you rot in Hell."
Nodding at Ian, Fley heads upstairs with a potion in hand. When he's halfway up the stairs, he'll drink the potion of invisibility.
Route (assuming he doesn't see any baddies or anything too threatening): War Room -> Barracks -> Scrying Room -> Conference Chamber -> Library -> Aerie.

DM Trawets |

Fley gets half way up the stairs and sees legs up at the top of the stairs. Fley hears a voice upstairs in abyssal say "Did you hear something on the stairs?" A tiefling head then looks down the stairs but sees nothing. The head disappears and Fley hears "Guess they aren't coming quite yet."
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Fley Flaxon |

Stealth, invisible: 1d20 + 13 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 13 + 20 = 40
Fley hears the tieflings speak in Abyssal. 'Hopefully I can sneak around them.'. Fley tip toes up the stairs to calculate the risks.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
[ooc]Is it possible to get around the tiefling or is he effectively blocking the landing? If Fley can't get around, he'll just see if there are any other threats up here (more tieflings/demons/cultists). If Fley can get around and there isn't anything too threatening, he'll poke his head in to room P14, then P16, P15, P11, P12, then P13).

Fley Flaxon |

'Ahhhh! No thank you. Not gonna get past those baddies.'
Fley will hurry back downstairs to the others. "I spotted at least five tieflings up at the top of the stairs. Was unable to get around them unfortunately so there may be more hiding in the rooms."
Fley shivers at the thought of more of tieflings. 'I'm going to have nightmares about this.' "They are crowding around the top of the stairs. I believe they are waiting for us to come up."

Leothar |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Well, I suppose there is nothing for it but to punch through. Our armor is sturdy and our arms are mighty. They will fall.
To battle, then.
The stairs give them an advantage since we cannot bring our numbers to bear all at once. And there isn't enough space to call upon my magic of growth. We'll need to make an opening.
Donnen, do you wish to take the lead? That axe swing you used against the Tieflings down here proved most effective. Once you drop one, I will step over its remains and clear some more space."
Donnen goes up, with Leothar and Ian right behind, and he attacks or maybe Cleaves; if he drops one, Leothar moves into its space and attacks; if Leothar drops one, Ian moves into its space and attacks.

Ian Passeri |
Still glowing from the Power of Faith, Ian nods in agreement with Leothar, "A good plan." Sheathing his sword briefly he drinks the Elixir of Help' hefting his sword and shield He looks to Donnen nodding.
GM, how many rounds did Fley use scouting about? So the POF is + 2

Well, no time like the present! - says the Stonelord, which drinks his potion and moves with conviction.

I assume those before Donnen are delaying for them to go. If that is not the case let me know.

Fley Flaxon |

Fley waits for Donnen or Leothar. "Be careful up there. Don't want anything to happen to you."
Delay.

Dadna Cloudbreaker |

"Let's do it!" Dadna said. Once the two dwarves went up, she came after, intent on making the reach of her weapon count.

Donnen Phelps |

I was waiting because I thought the enemies were going first (my apologies if it's not the case!). I will post my action, in case it's my turn
Donnen gets upstairs and assumes his defensive stance. Feeling his blood thicken almost to stone, the Stonelord attacks the first enemy.

Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 14
Donnen is in Defensive Stance; his AC is 26 + 2 (Power of Faith) = 28. If he was able to cleave (hit the first enemy), his AC would be 26
Edit: Adding Ian's Aura on the rolls and AC.

Leothar |

Donnen also gets a +2 morale bonus to AC, attacks, and damage from Ian's temporarily-boosted Power of Faith aura (Warrior of the Holy Light).

DM Trawets |

As Donnen reaches the landing three tieflings attack him and miraculously all three shortswords hit each other. For his payback Donnen's axe gashes one tiefling and continues on into the next one and stops at the door frame. Both tieflings drop to the ground.

It is 30 feet for Leothar to get into the first gap and 35 feet for either Dadna or Ian to get to the first gap. Moving into the second gap will provoke AoOs. I will let you decide how far to move. I don't think any of you have more than 20 feet movement so it is a double move.

Leothar |

Leothar will double move into the second gap, taking the AOOs.
With Power of Faith, he is AC 23.

Ian Passeri |
Nervously waiting as Donnen then Leothar charge up the stairs, Ian falls into line sword and shield in hand, his body aglow from the Power of faith. As he rounds the stairwell past Donnen he sees the gathered tieflings, lifting his sword he lets out a roar. "for Iomedae!"

Ardriel, seeing no room up the stairs and no line of fire for his bow, chooses to wait until there’s more space before climbing the stairs.

Dadna Cloudbreaker |

With a reach weapon, I take it Dadna can't attack orange? If that is the case then she will just wait until an opportunity arises

DM Trawets |
