Omari the Landless |
"Uarrgh!" Omari groans as the poison takes him. He retreats to the edge of the window, and in the sunlight, casts bless.
I really hope this spider doesn't have combat reflexes...
Move action - move 15' back to the window
Standard Action - Casts Bless (+1 morale on attack and save vs Fear)

The spider falls off the ceiling as Roryx makes it slippery. It lands on its back and flails around with its legs.

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Does involuntary movement draw AoO's? I know getting up does...
AoO vs Prone spider: 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 19 vs prone (-4 to AC) spider
It's also probably flanked, to boot...

Heshan Antar |
As the spider went splat on the ground, Heshan made sure not to suffer a similar fate and moved between two of the legs in a flourish. It was a proud moment for him.
Given that the spider spent it's time attacking Ohrmizd, he decides to spend his own time dealing some guaranteed damage of his own. A hand is pointed at the spider and two balls of force strike it.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
He then retreats back next to Ohrmizd.
Manuun |
Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 3 + 2 = 32
Seeing the spider beginning to lose its footing, he immediately starts to jump out of the way and ducks between the legs of the fallen spider.

Ohrmizd smile for taking the attention of the spider disappears as the poison takes hold of his muscles. Due to the sudden weakness he barely manages to escape the falling star of the show "Ah, good hunt Roryx!"
Although the spider did not came in the expected way, come it did, and so the Keleshite attempts to strike at it with his scimitar.

Ohrmizd, Manuun
Roryx, Omari, Heshan <--
Spider(RIP)
Omari the Landless |
"Damn thing was supposed to be asleep! This poison needs treating." Omari digs out his healer's kit. "Ohrmzid, come help me."
See discussion about what I'm planning. Assuming we agree, I'll put the rolls in the next post
Omari the Landless |
I'm assuming Ohrmizd will make his aid another checks... If he doesn't these results will need to be modified

Ohrmizd |
Ohrmizd quickly removes the scimitar from the fallen spider "Quite smart and well done Roryx. That spider would have been nasty if she managed to stay there on top"
Turning to Omari, the Keleshite nods "Sure, let's be quick, I can already feel the poison weakening me"
"Sarenrae, tend to those in need" Ohrmizd casts guidance all the times needed and aids with the heal as suggested by Omari.
Heal aid Ohrmizd+guidance: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 = 27
Heal aid Omari+guidance: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24
Heal aid Heshan+guidance: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 13
Ohrmizd quickly takes Omari's arm and tries to suck the poison out of the wound, spiting it afterwards. He repeats this treatment for Heshan "My master did this to me once to save me from a serpent's poison. I think it helped"
Fort+Heal treat poison DC 16: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 4 = 23
Note guidance does not help in the save because it is same bonus (competence) as the treat poison bonus
Roryx |
"Do spiders actually sleep Omari?"
Ohrmizd quickly removes the scimitar from the fallen spider "Quite smart and well done Roryx. That spider would have been nasty if she managed to stay there on top"
"No problem. Magic always has a way" - as Omari and Ohrmizd tend to the poison, Roryx puts Swiper on the ground, and they keep watch over any exit from the room.
Are there exits Foxy?
PErception?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Omari the Landless |
"Do spiders actually sleep Omari?"

Omari replies without looking up from his work, "Gotta admit, I assumed they did... They're alive after all"
Omari Poison Save: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 4 = 24
+7 base +4 successful Heal check
Ohrmizd |
"Well, this one is now sleeping and that is all I need to know" Ohrmizd chuckles while padding both men.
Ohrmizd searches the tower in case the victims of the spider left any valuable items.
"I feel quite weakened, but I think I can continue a bit if we do it with care" Ohrmizd comments, then looking at the group's wounds "A channel might be of help as there are many of us wounded, but if you prefer to preserve your god's blessings I can ask Serenrae for a bit of healing"
Omari the Landless |
"Yes, Erastil's blessing will do us much good." Omari channels to heal...
Channel, Healing: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) = 12
How much are you down after that Ohrmzid?
Ohrmizd |
Feeling his wounds closing, Ohrmizd smiles back at the cleric "Thanks for that. Almost like new"
HP 47/48
Advancing himself to see where the stairs down lead Ohrmizd asks "What have you found there Roryx?"
Omari the Landless |
Before we run downstairs Ohrmizd, let's find out if Heshan is still conscious... If he fails both saves I really doubt he is (and if he only fails the 1st one, he's down to a 2 str... And he only has a +2 fort save)
Heshan Antar |

His hubris was rewarded with a retaliation from the spider, he hisses as the creature pierced his shoulder, but he was able to push the head away before it could inject the venom on him. Still, it was a grievous puncture wound as he was glad that Omari was able to heal away the worst of it.
"We better leave before the mother finds out what happened."
Manuun |
"Well I'd rather be ucky than godd, wouldn't you agree Heshan?"
Towards Ohrmizd and Omari he remarks: "Do you really feel well enough after all that poison? I must say I am more with Heshan on this one." [ooc]you are both still at -8 STR correct?
Ohrmizd |
"I can endure it, but I can rest likewise if you do prefer" Ohrmizd face changes to real worry "You are sure joking isn't it, there cannot be something larger and uglier than that" he points to the fallen arachnid with his scimitar.
Roryx |
”I was able to see a door, and the stairs then wind further down” - Roryx commented with the others - ”But the path is filled with thick spiderwebs” - he added.
Foxy, Roryx will tentatively try to touch one of the spiderwebs with a stick or something like that. Just trying to understand if it is something we would be able to hack through, or if it needs to be burned or something like that.
Manuun |
"Does anybody has a torch for this?"
Otehrwise Manuun will try to help by cutting the strands with his knive.
Foxy Quickpaw |
cutting through, ripping apart, burning, all that would work. How clever the different options are I leave to you to figure out.
Roryx |
"Fire will probably mean we will quickly be suffocating in smoke I think Manuun... Maybe we should try to just hack through it like you are doing" - Roryx nods, and follows his companion's example with his own dagger.
Do we make any progress with it?
Ohrmizd |
"Despite it would make for a great demonstration to Sarenrae, I agree we are all too covered in webs already for this to be safe" Ohrmizd says just ripping apart the strands with his blade and shield.
The Keleshite advances forward, casting guidance "Sarenrae, lead us to a safe place on this tower" he opens a door after Manuun and himself check it out, if he finds one.
Foxy Quickpaw |
To remove the spider's web is annoyingly timeconsuming but easy enough to do. The stairs lead further down to another door.
Meanwhile Ohrmizd opens the first door. It leads through a short corridor into a twenty-foot-wide hall. The walls of this hall are completely obscured by thick sheets of webbing, transforming it into a cloying, musty tube where sounds are eerily muffled. To the south, the web tube cinches down to a ten-foot-wide tunnel. Here and there, large shapes encased in thick webs hang from the walls.
Most of the web-wrapped meals are animals, but one of them near the northern end of the hall is a desiccated human bandit still wearing his chain shirt.

Amulet of Health? That is a 3.5 item, right? :D

I think you can check the spoilers guys.

A question or two.
1) @ foxy - we climbed 40 ft up the outside, and now we've come down to the floor below. How far down have we come? (ie. if we've come down 10 ft, we can expect 3 more floors to this minaret(above ground); 20ft 1 more floor a ground level. Anything more than that and it's time to start searching for secret doors...)
2) @ Roryx (& Foxy) - what other door? We came down the stairs, "opens the first door. It leads through a short corridor into a twenty-foot-wide hall." There is no other door described...
"Manuun do you know if spider lay eggs or some such? Do we need to burn this web-nest thing?"
K Nature anybody?
Foxy Quickpaw |
While Ohrmizd and Heshan discuss what to do, Roryx found that the stairs lead underground to a door. And they lead further down, but the passage is blocked by thick spider webs.

Ohrmizd arches an eyebrow as Heshan starts to don the chain shirt "It seems some heroics are sticking into you Heshan. Are you sure you know how to properly move on one of those?"
The Keleshite nods appreciating both magical items "Good finding. I have my own amulet already though. Maybe someone else should take it" he looks at Heshan "Wouldn't this amulet make you more tougher than that armor?"
"It seems there is nothing else in here" Ohrmizd looks around "It will require a bit of cleaning, but it might do for a good base of operations. I doubt any gnoll will come around in a good time"
Omari the Landless |
"Ok everybody, stop. We've cleared the spider and found another entry into the underground portion of this complex, which clearly, no one has used in a long time. This is good, it gives us an alternative to leading any gnoll pursuit directly back to the escaped slaves (by using the other stairs). But we weren't going to rush into the gnoll complex this morning. So we're not going any further."
Omari pauses to wipe his face and continues:
"The next step in the plan was the "the lopsided tower over there, with horrible looking stonestatues that come to life." (Knowledge check Manuun?), provided we can get to said tower without being spotted by the gnolls. But first, on the way back up this tower (to where we got in), we need to search for secret doors - nobody builds a solid tower 40' high and 25' across..."
Manuun |
Know arcana Take 10 to learn about the stone stature: 10 + 8 + 2 = 20
"If that would be okay with you Heshan, I would also like the shirt, and you could probably gain more from the amulet." Manuun has no spell failure for light armour and would profit a bit more.
" I think Omari is right, we should not rush down there. lets check this place thoroughly."
Heshan Antar |
It did not fit him after all. With a sigh, he took off the shirt and gave it to Manuun before turning towards the others.
"Let us leave that to the two who have been poisoned. With that said, I would rather that we clear the place sooner rather than later. Both for the refugees and to not get spotted."
Omari the Landless |
”I was under the impression we were trying to find an ‘off the way’ route to access the complex, and this could be it” - Roryx comments to Omari - ”Could it not?”
"Yes, that's what I said. But we are not rushing down there right now. We've got 2 of us seriously poisoned...And we also wanted to try to get the troglodytes to work with us. So we have other stuff to do before we charge ahead."
