Weird that only witches get that spell, and they don't get Purify! Shouldn't you get Purify if you're good and Putrefy if evil, and choose if you're neutral!?!

Hey Timespiraled, just dropping in real quick, I saw your entry post for Taicho, I normally post more detailed posts morning and afternoon, once my wife is home in the evening, I check the games a couple of times and may throw up something quick; bur since it's Taicho' first post I wanted to put a little m0re into it. I will get something up in the morning.

Take your time! We're not rushed.

I apologize for being delinquent on Taicho’s backstory. I will continue working on it, but I wanted to get a feel for Tengus in this world, Timespiraled, tell me if this is ok with you.
Combining ideas from Tengu and Yamabushi I wanted to reflect the a little of how they were viewed in eastern lore, but wanted to maintain a bit of the personality relating to ravens/crows, thus the ‘collecting’ things; for instance, Taicho will collect shiny rocks.
The Celestial Court formed Yuanzi some unknowable time ago, but recorded history does go back at least five thousand years. Though there are many theories about The Court method of creation it is clear that Yinyu goddess of the skies of Yuanzi brought the Tengu race to Yuanzi. Though there are many different theories. Some say she created the Tengu from dust and wind, some say she gave a murder of crows sentience and hands, some believe they were oni in the spirit world that she conquered to serve her and some heretics believe the Tengu were a race brought here from another dimension. However it happened, they still serve her, each in their own way.
Tengus are seen as strange by the more human races, most of that is due to the differences between the races. It’s not just their avian nature of laying eggs or mating for life. Tengus prefer to live in small communities either in the forest or the mountains, away from large cities. They spend as much time in the spirit world as they do the natural one. Due to that, all Tengus train in weapons and fighting. They seem to have a very ascetic lifestyle. Though this is a misnomer, it’s that they don’t care about possessions the same as other races. Most Tengus are not socially concerned with possessions or appearances. Though individuals do have an unusual hobby or collection that they enjoy to the point other races would consider it an obsession.

To make things easier for everyone, tomorrow I'll go through the gameplay thread from start to finish and overhaul the FFoH Setting Guide to include everything/everyone we've met so far, as well as compile clues and leads we have.
Also it's just a damn fun read and I'm trying to convert it to a potentially publishable (or at least distributable) module in the not so far future.

Sounds great. I know I had a good time reading it. Keep us aware.

Agreed! I have one game totally in Discord and another that is half and half. Had one live game that met once a week for several hours. Used Roll20 for the maps. It was fun but got a bit hard for the GM to have maps and such prepared. Also, had issues with Roll20 crashing things, dropping the fog-of-war effects and such...

Oh shoot, can you re-send the Discord handle? :)

We were unique and met in a library. :P

Group meets with Patron at the [Fill in the blank].... Played in a table-top game once and this never happened. They met with "agents" of their patron, but never the actual patron until the final "boss" encounter. Then they had to kill him! Was fun doing that one!

Very Reverse Charlie's Angels, Katala!
Katala Doratian |
Yep! And just as much fun.... Or maybe more!?!

Normally I avoid discussions of things going on "Behind the Curtains" but I just want to say I really enjoyed this deconstruction of the Golden Carp poem, and whether or not each of the individual clues extrapolated was planned (some were, some weren't), I'm going to roll with them.
After all, it's not often you can get players to come up with something so cool.
Lung Shanyang |
hehe, I was kinda hoping for some Rule of Cool here ;) *high fives Piella*

Inquisitors get a bonus Teamwork Feat at Level 3; is there anyone who might take a teamwork feat or should I just burn it on any old thing?
Lung Shanyang |
I forgot about Solo Tactics, so I took Lookout. If I'm adjacent to an ally, we both get full round actions in a surprise round.
Piella Pollyhum-Prettyfoot |
I was contemplating a 3rd level feat for it, but I think I need my few. Plus, there aren't many good ones for the two of us.
Shiro Heida |
Phew. I think I'm going to have to tap out, I'm sorry. I've really enjoyed my time here, but my life is much too busy these days. At the current pace I'm having difficulty keeping up and I don't want any of you to be waiting on me.
I'm giving full permission to use Shiro as an NPC however you see fit Timespiraled. Personality wise, he's fastidious and likes to plan ahead. He feel generally more comfortable with animals than humans.
His skillset is based around physical athletics (Acrobatics, Swim, Climb), information gathering (Diplomacy, Disguise) and the more typical rogue set (Disable Device, Sleight of Hand).
As an NPC, he'd probably be giving the players new information or introducing military, civilian or underworld contacts. Given the team's prior history, he'd be more trustworthy than any new character.
Combat-wise, he works as a team with his dog, Gou. The Tekko-kagi he uses allow him to disarm easily and he will try it on any armed opponent.
Piella Pollyhum-Prettyfoot |
Piella gets an animal familiar eventually, I believe. I'll snag Gou from you and watch him while you are on missions if that's okay?
Timespiraled |
Thanks for having stuck with us this long Shiro! You'll be missed! You're always welcome in any of my future games or to pop back in later down the road! Perhaps an appearance in the finale?
If you'd like, given that the group is heading to Xin, it could be a good moment to make a goodbye speech if you'd like to leave naturally. If not, no worries, I'll make a moment in Xin.
It's been great!
Piella Pollyhum-Prettyfoot |
What type of wand do we want? Infernal healing? Liberating Command? Magic missile? Something else?
Lung Shanyang |
I sometimes think it should be Augury in this game! :D
Lung Shanyang |
Argggh! Take care of that honker, Timespiraled!
Lung Shanyang |
Sorry, I couldn't post yesterday--will catch up now.

Darkness is the absence of light. To an elf or human, in this zone they are blind (50% concealment). To a creature with darkvision 60ft, he can see perfectly clear out to 60ft without penalty but not further.
If a dwarf using darkvision, however, were in an area of dim light, such as a cavern with glowing illumination or outdoors at night, he would have unhindered vision out to 60ft but then would have dim vision beyond that (20% concealment) as far as the eye can see, like a human. Anyone could roll a stealth against you and gain the advantage.
If an elf were in an area of dim light, however, such as outdoors at night, or in the cave with glowing rocks, they would see as clear as midday to a human as far as the eye can see that dim light. In an area of pure darkness though, they can only see as far as the dim light from their torchlight spreads, which is the 40ft.
I mention this because a lot of people think that if you have low-light vision, you can only see 40ft at night and many GM's and players I've played with have had creatures sneaking up on the party despite open terrain. That shouldn't be the case though, right?
A human can see as far as the eye can see at night but there is obscurement and anyone can conceal themselves from you. It is at this point your perception needs to overcome their stealth roll. To an elf or gnome though, that isn't the case. Your vision is unhindered 100% as far as the eye can see that dim light. That means there is no concealment which means you cannot roll stealth.
You cannot hide at night from a creature with low-light vision unless you have something to hide behind and are moving when they aren't looking (by means of a bluff check to create a distraction). I thought that was interesting to mention and to hear your thoughts.
