GM. I know that dwarfs only get base 10 Fel. But could I petition a +10 bonus when speaking to other dwarfs? It seems to me that dawi should have average Fel when communicating within the confines of their own culture. But when speaking with anyone else, their gruff nature and intransigence would cause the lower Fel.
Your suggestion makes complete sense to me. For Dwarfs your Fellowship should be 2d10+20.

Thank you :)

I haven't been rolling on the Lore skills because Lore is advanced and you need an advance in a Lore grouping to be able to roll it at all (my understanding). Is that correct?

Talther Augenlos |

I have lore local trained.
*checks*
Yes, lore skills do fall under advanced and need at least one advance in them to use at all.

Talther Augenlos |

I'm having flashbacks to the horror of PCs being set on fire in Dark Heresy and other 40krpgs. That ruleset is *rough* and it doesn't look any kinder in WFRP!

Valghaz Ironhammer |

You mean the ones that survive long enough to reach their second career ;)

Darkest Doomed |

I'm loving the pace of the game, but it's hard to notice that not everyone is keeping up. Xavier last posted less than 48 hours ago (not that long really) and we've moved the game a lot in that time.
I guess I don't want to be unfair...does anyone need us to slow down?

Talther Augenlos |

That's a fair point, Landolf. I actually have had some time to post during the day and got overly enthuastic.

Adelaida Lehner |

You post quite often, that's sure, and I have trouble keeping up with you.
I'm always afraid to miss something importanat because I have to read that much….

Darkest Doomed |

I guess it comes down to whether anyone wants us to slow down. Maybe everyone likes the faster pace even if they aren't quite keeping up? It has the advantage of not being crazy slow...

Aubster |

It’s probably one of those things that I should have discussed with everyone at the beginning but didn’t, mea culpa - I think that’s Latin for blame the dwarf :)
My unwritten approach is that combat and non-combat are handled differently. Combat has a set order and goes in rounds. I believe that everyone has to take their turn in order before we go to the next round. But if you don’t take your turn in 24 hours, I reserve the right to either Bot your character or skip your turn. When I’m a player, I always hated combats that had days between folks posting because it spoils the suspenseful atmosphere. So far, we’ve only had the 1 combat and everyone was so engaged that rounds went quickly.
Non-combat I look at as free flowing. You can post or not and nothing bad will happen to the character. So I try to move that along at the speed most of the players are going. But, and this is a big but, no one should feel left out of what’s happening. You all put way too much time and effort to make this characters for the game not to be fun for you.
If things in RL are hectic and you know your posting rate will be slow let me know and we can work it out. If things are going to fast, let me know and we can slow down.
You all are at an interesting point right now because the character get together at a tavern doesn’t require GM input at all but I think it’s a great and important role-playing opportunity. I want to give everyone a chance to have their characters talk about the Watch and your dear sarge rudi. As long as there’s an active conversation happening it should be allowed to run it’s course. How you all handle or don’t Rudi has an impact on the rest of the game so you guys hopefully can come up with a consensus.

Valghaz Ironhammer |

I, for one, like a brisk pace. Too slow and games die.
Also +1 T, for T46. Can’t wait for that magical T50 :)

Darkest Doomed |

Aubster, I assume we'll be ordering at the Red Moon Inn soon. Is there a menu or should we just use book prices for the meal? Is there a price to use a private booth?

Talther Augenlos |

Just a heads up.
Once the week proper hits, my free time will plummet. I should be well able to post once a day at least but I can't say about any more than that.

News - bad and good (hopefully)
The bad news is that Xavier has dropped out. He sent me a very nice note last night letting me know. I think that this campaign runs fine with 5 characters so I wasn’t planning on opening up recruitment again but will if the group wants a 6th. It’s up to you all.
The good (hopefully) news is that I bought the Enemy in the Shadows campaign book yesterday and have a plan on how to transition characters from the starter campaign to that campaign. So, if y’all are interested, once we finish Ubersreik we can move straight into The Classic Warhammer campaign.
Next week could be combat heavy depending on choices the characters make. If so, the pace will be such that everyone gets their turns in combat.
PS. If anyone is interested, Drive Thru RPG has the WHFRPG 4e on sale right now.

Talther Augenlos |

Thanks for the heads up.
I have a preference for having a sixth player but five is also fine.
I'm keen to go for The Enemy Within after this.

Valghaz Ironhammer |

Sorry to see him go. But yes, we can get by with 5.
Also yay for Enemy Within!
I’ll get a post up by tomorrow. Weekends are always slow for me, as it’s family time

Ruprecht Scheinfelder |

Indeed as it is for me as well....crazy busy on the weekends.
As for posting speed, I think it's a matter of perspective. While I might not get as many posts in , at least the other players are engaged, which helps me stay engaged.
I work from home now , so I'll generally keep up :)

Darkest Doomed |

Regarding a potential sixth player, I asked if my brother was interested in joining, and they said yes. My brother was in the prior campaign that Landolf came from, and is MUCH more into Warhammer lore than I am.
I did tell him I wasn't sure that we were taking a sixth player, though. Are we looking?

We weren’t “looking” but I’m happy to have a new player, especially one that’s into Warhammer (as long as he doesn’t think Age of Sigmar is better than classic Warhammer). Hopefully he’ll have a cool career.

Gods such a vile statement.

Darkest Doomed |

I should mention since I've figured it out since I joined this campaign. What my brother and I were playing the first time was If Looks Could Kill.
Probably doesn't matter, but there it is.
He should be posting here soonish.

Darkest Doomed |

Your profile is accessible from the Crowfoot68 part of your name.
Also, now that I look at Thilo again, you should consider rerolling. You could even choose Tomb Robber if you want, but your stat rolls were BAD.
Edit: I think I need to take that back. Your rolls weren't as bad as I thought when I looked last time: just swingier than I'm used to seeing, but you have some quite high rolls too.

Aubster |

Greetings program. I am brother to Landolf's player and I was having fun the other campaign before it ran out of gas and I sank into the swamp of sorrow. Where should I post my character? Does Thilo just post off my paizo profile?
You can go into your Pazio profile and make an alias called Thilo. Then you can put your Warhammer stats on the alias page. Give me a little while to figure out how Thilo joins into the group.

Talther, that is a very Empire profile pic.
Also, welcome Thilo!

Valghaz Ironhammer |

For the record, Valghaz is perfectly alright in beating the hell out of the sergeant and robbing him. If nothing else the man must be loaded from years of corruption. It would teach him a lesson on what it feels like to be victimized and probably get more information about the criminal world in a night than we could get in three years. And if he vanished in the river? Well apparently the watch isn’t immune to that.
WWGD? What would Grimnir do? Usually the most straightforward solution and one which involves an axe.

Darkest Doomed |

LOL. Possibly, but I don't think it helps us find the missing people. Beating Klumpenklug sounds like an extracurricular activity. I do hope he survives all of this to witness his folly though.
Coming back around to what to do now...maybe ask the under-bridgers who we could talk to that would know what is going on in Dunkelfeucht? We could also Scooby Doo the area where Eugen's father was last thought to be.

Darkest Doomed |

I guess that is my plan. Investigate the "where my father takes a dump" area and also ask the people who we could talk to that might know more about goings-on. Failing that, how to contact the Baron I guess.
I'll wait to implement the plan until I get a sign-off on it from at least one other player, though.

Valghaz Ironhammer |

I’ll give others a chance to respond, lest we leave the party behind.

Valghaz Ironhammer |

This is going to be deadly. I don’t know any 4e stats. But in previous editions, trolls were similar to the tabletop counterparts. So I expect WS in the 30s, with SB5 TB4, 30+ wounds, regeneration (around d10) and as it is a river troll we will have a penalty to hit in close combat. Fire, of course, stops regeneration. Luckily no armor. And vomit is scary, as it is an auto hit. I have no idea how that would work in 4e.
Also this is apparently a very large river troll, so the stats might be even higher. If we take this thing on we will be spending fate points unless we have a very well executed trap.
