I believe Sgrack will also be done on Saturday and I'm ok with either approaches to XP.
I'm using discord to a couple other games and it has been great so far.
Regarding skills, Sgrack will contribute with Knowledge (engineering), Perform (percussion) and Survival, but he will suck at the first two.

Keth Longstrider |

Skills Keth is good at or at least decent at
Handle Animal
Intimidate
Knowledge- Geography
Knowledge- Nature*

Perception
Profession<Herbalist>
Sense Motive

pads in panting...Looks at the others and barks once and then sniffs around and gets on his belly and crawls and then follows a scent...
then pads off.
(Boss says to tell you I can find things, follow tracks and sneak)

You're assuming I even realize that the magic they're casting is pointed at my face.
I don't think she's learned much about magic or how it works. She just has it at her fingertips.
I'm considering wearing a lead pot over my head so the aliens can't eat my thoughts.

Paradise GM |

We need to hear from Sha'nir but I believe they said they were going to try and cover the rogue like skills.
On that note if they respond with a build in time for Saturday we can start that day. Given the nature of PbP we can move as quick or as slow as we need. But as I said I have run the first two books of this ap twice so I am quite familiar with it and already have all the maps and all but one monster in roll20. Ohhh on the note of roll 20 if you want to find an image to represent your character other than the avatar you are using on the forums pm me a link to it or get it to me through some form of file sharing like discord, Dropbox or email I will give those to you if you ask. A full hi-def image is fine as I will crop the face to make a token and put the full image on your journal entry.

Sgrack |

I believe I'm done with Sgrack's background. All his racial traits are included and explained I think, but let me know if I missed anything else!
I guess I'm done. There are a lot of gold pieces yet to be spent but Sgrack is not smart enough to figure out what he needs. So far he has an armor and a weapon... the smart folks will have to point him the need of a backpack and stuff.
Sgrack, which literally means 'white maggot' in orcish, was born on Kuratown, an orc settlement in the Felldales of Numeria. Born as an albino, he was only not killed by the others because his mother was the mate of the recently slain leader of the tribe, even if by living he doomed both himself and his mother to being outcasts and pariahs.
When he was about 2 year old, Kuratown was attacked by a huge scorpion-like robot who killed many of his tribe, including his mother, before it was driven away. Without his mother to protect him, however, Sgrack was tossed into a huge hole that served as the cesspit and trash deposit for the settlement to the amusement of the other orcs. As fate decided, however, Sgrack survived by eating rotten leftovers and the scavengers who were also after his 'precious meal'. The other orcs allowed him to live, giving him the name of Sgrack and even making bets of how many more months and years he would survive.
And so he survived. Sgrack never knew his true name or that of his mother, which he barely remembers. He never learned how to speak and never socialized with anyone. Due to his extremely poor nourishment while growing up, Sgrack's intellect is deficient, even considering orcish standards. The harsh sun of the Felldales burned his sensitive flesh, which also bears the marks of countless diseases, infections and scars. His orcish eyes, normally sensitive to bright light, acclimatized with the sun, but caused him to lose a bit of his sight... and despite and against all odds, Sgrack survived, trapped in his hole on the ground for about sixteen years.
At eighteen years old, another of that scorpion-like robot (perhaps the same?) attacked Kuratown again after so many years and during the terrible battle it blasted a huge amount of earth close to Sgrack's hole, creating some sort of ramp which allowed him to escape the town, imagining he would die to the death machine. Scared, Sgrack run as fast as he could and when he regained his senses he found himself completely lost in the Felldales, with no clue of how to return home... for as miserable as Kuratown was, it was still his home.
Sgrack roamed the Felldales for a couple months, escaping from robots, monsters, animals and even the land itself, eventually reaching the First Blade's Path, which he followed, reaching the Sellen River to the east after a couple more months. Unable to cross it, Sgrack decided then to follow the river south. The Sellen River brought Sgrack to Hajoth Hakados, where he was hunted down and almost killed, and soon after he continued west, now following the Seven Tears River until he ended up on Torch, where he was also not welcomed, but at least there they were content with just beating him to unconsciousness.
Preferring to be beaten instead of killed, Sgrack lingered around Torch, being driven out many times before the inhabitants of the town decided he was not worth the effort, being strangely harmless despite his size, heritage and appearance. In Torch, he lived in the small parks or in abandoned buildings when he was lucky, eating whatever he could find. One of this favorite places in the town was behind the Foundry Tavern, where he discovered the leftovers were fresher and better tasting.
Four months ago, while gnawing at the bone of a hog's leg behind the tavern, Sgrack saw two foreigners following Val, the adoptive daughter of the owner of the tavern. She screamed for help and without thinking twice, Sgrack sprung to her rescue... but he was no real fighter and was unarmed. Val managed to escape, but Sgrack was once more beaten and almost killed, only being spared because Khonnir arrived. Since then, in thanks for helping his adoptive daughter, Khonnir have sort of given Sgrack a job in helping him carry heavy stuff, guarding his tavern and so on, going as far as teaching him how to speak!
Sgrack is a slow learner, but he is learning and already knows many words. He was told he needs to bath everyday 'or people will not like him', that he doesn't need to eat on the ground and other silly stuff... but he is learning... and he is really grateful and happy about it!

Keth Longstrider |

Sgrack- Keth is a Half Orc who tries to live down his Orcish Heritage because he was raised in a human rural area and his human father (mother died in child birth) His real Father was a Half Orc Adventurer who had a clandestine affair with his mom. He was also bullied but by humans.
I think hed feel for Sgrack once he saw him after the initial paralysis of not wanting to associate with Orcs or Goblinoids.
Keth has only been in Torch a short time and probably would have met Sgrack and begun to try and befriend him feeling protective.
Thoughts?

Meila Starflower |

@Sgrack That's pretty cool. He's been all over Numeria and despite being a level 1 fighter, he's still kicking. Question: Are you still going to be a pacifist when we play? If not, what changed?
@Keth you could help heal him up after he's been beaten so many times. The lingering diseases could be important.

Irizzle Luckcrafter |

Hmm, considering Irizzle has been living as a bit of a mad scientist hermit around Torch, I could easily see him having had Sgrack help him carry stuff and whatnot in return for some food. Irizzle wouldn’t even consider things like social consequences important, and often needs help carrying things (and will need that help during the campaign to boot!)
It would be a very odd relationship, might have happened the first time without Irizzle even knowing or realising anything about Sgrack’s mental faculties, but Sgrack having just enough cunning to know that Irizzle hadn’t been mean the first time and them both just kind of going along with it for not thinking of anything better to do.
Can anyone else think of a link to a mad scientist hermit?
I have some more of the alias filled in - does anyone have a particularly nice format for theirs I could sue as a template? Working out how things should look is not my strongpoint.

Sgrack |

@Keth: I'm completely fine with Keth meeting Sgrack and he would for sure be friendly. He has been treated like trash his whole life so actually anyone who treats him well will earn his trust and friendship. Depending on how long Keth had been in Torch, he could even have been involved in 'taming' Sgrack.
@Meila: thanks! Sgrack is not really a pacifist. I see him as someone who was so beaten that his first instinct is to defend himself instead of attacking. During his roaming in Numeria he was really scared and fled all encounters who were not seen as food.
What changed is that he was treated 'well' by Khonnir and Val (actually he was only NOT mistreated), so he felt he needed to protect her. Sgrack is completely willing to sacrifice himself to help someone he considers his friend.
@Irizzle: I believe yes, that could work! Just have in mind that Sgrack really looks like a monster, so perhaps the first couple interactions were probably more tense.

Irizzle Luckcrafter |

Irizzle is actually oblivious enough if he’s excited about one of his creations that he probably wouldn’t even notice unless Sgrack attacked him, and it doesn’t sound like he’d do that. It wouldn’t have been a friendly interaction, more like a convergence of blessed ignorance. I mean, of course this creature wants to help, he’s no doubt been struck speechless by the magnificence of my creation - must be a smart fellow.

Sgrack |

@Dread: The fields Gender, Race and Class, in this order, are displayed.
@Chunky04: You asked before about formatting the stat block... if you wish, take a look on THIS alias, where I have a caster. I find this kind of organization easy so look at!

Paradise GM |

Made the gameplay thread in prep of play Saturday. Go ahead and leave a dot in the thread in your alias so you get added to the character tab.
@Sha'nir haven't heard from you in a few days are you still interested? I can delay start if you need time I just need to know you are still around and interested.

Sgrack |

If he doesn't answer in time, we could start without him and he joins us when/if he is done.
If he doesn't answer at all, looking at our party, it appears we are pretty balanced, so perhaps there is no need to delay until we find a replacement.

Paradise GM |

Elves or Elf only show up twice in the Numeria book. both times it is as Half-elf or Half-Elves. So no there are no significant Elven population.
So, one would assume most Elves in the region are nomadic or transplants. No place is hostile to Elves so you could have stayed in any notable settlement without any difficulty. The next closest town to Torch is Hajoth Hakados about 100 miles south mostly traveled by riverboat.

Meila Starflower |

I remember the environment was said to be mostly wasteland, with some small forests. Is that right?
Is there a specific real-world culture that Numeria represents?

Paradise GM |

Outside of Starfall and the Silvermount Numeria is populated mostly by Kellid barbarians. Most towns are small communities closer to the Nations borders or on rivers so they can trade with the river kingdoms or Crusaders on their way to Mendev. There are also populations of Orc's usually river raiders or bandits. Pretty much the only reason to be here if you don't have a choice otherwise is interest in technology and the stars.

Irizzle Luckcrafter |

One thing I am a little curious on is if there is much AOE offense capability in the rest of the party. I was thinking of starting with a Blunderbuss to help cater for that need, however if we have that covered I may be better off starting with a Pistol or Musket.

Meila Starflower |

You have alchemy, tech, ranged touch damage, healing potions, knowledge, magic item use, decent mid-line defenses, lockpicking, stealth, nature skills, and every language needed.

Paradise GM |

The previous time I ran this the Bomb focused alchemist was more than enough aoe so having a blunderbuss and alchemical ordinance plus some tech you get pretty early you should be fine.
@Sron I am glad I didn't want to start without you.
I will make the first gameplay post sometime tomorrow afternoon. I would like at least one post from each of you for the weekend but extra is fine. I know for our down under brother that means p.m. for us but I think that should be fine. After this weekend lets try to agree to .75 posts a day or about 5-6 a week and we will adjust to meet a pace that is agreeable to everyone if that means 3 a week so be it as long as we keep moving I will be happy. If you have any concerns or need any concessions don't hesitate to let me know.

Paradise GM |

On roll20 when you launch the game go to the setting tab(little gear) and the first option is display name. Please change that to represent you characters name. Sgrack already did this. It wouldn't be a problem but I don't know any of your proper names irl so I don't know who to give access to what.

Paradise GM |

First post is up have at it. IF you go to the roll 20 you can see three images on the current page. The first is Dolga the dwarf in the post, the 2nd is Val Baine Kohnnir's daughter that some of you may know. The 3rd is Priest of Brigh Joram Kyte who if you don't know will come up soon.
Also the background image of the page you can currently see is a view of the town of Torch with its name sake The Torch during one of its monthly flare ups as normally it is the size of a bonfire.

Sgrack |

Thanks!
I'm not familiar with KotOR, so I'm not sure about these characters. Sgrack has been with Kohnnir and Val for only a couple months, and since he is quite scary in appearance, I'll leave it to you how at ease Val would feel in his presence, but by his part I believe he would really like her.
Imagining Val as a teenager or a young adult, I could see her telling him a lot of stuff he has no chance of knowing anything about, almost as if talking to a smart pet.

Paradise GM |

Mission is a fast and smart talking twi'lek scoundrel and Hanhar is a wookie she saved who acts as her over protective bodyguard because he owes her a life debt.
Val doesn't have a listed age but forum consensus is between 11-13 if I remember. So at first glance she may have been scared but actions speak louder tha words to her which is why she is with Kohnnir to begin with.

Sgrack |

Brainfart it is Zaalbar not Hanhar. Don't know who Hanhar is or where they come from.
Lol, so there is the reason I found nothing! I googled Haharr and found he is a bad wookie bounty hunter and then I was at a lost!

Paradise GM |

That works. Ok everyone has edit access and control of their own tokens in roll20 now. If you want to and are familiar with it you can fill out your character sheet. The built in compendium has all of core and some further content but a lot of stuff from this ap you will have to manually enter.
When we get to a map where you have a token and can move. I would ask that you don't move unless asked too and will trust that the honor system is enough for this. When combat is happening you can on your turn move your token. Sight on maps updates after a move so if you want to move in 5ft. squares so your vision updates with movement that is cool. Doors and walls block movement so if you want to move through a closed door let me know and assuming it can be opened I will move the object as to allow movement.
