Good for either. I need to brush up on the mass combat rolls and see how they stack up against L5R rules for such.
Both have its pros and cons, can't really decide. Maybe we should just do one of the options, whichever, then do the other option if it happens again in the future, so we can have first hand knowledge.
I think for Play-by-post, it would be best to do a battle within a battle - we (the active party) take on, say, the army's commander, with the outcome of our battle deciding the outcome of the overall battle.
We'll place Irabeth in command of the army itself for the battle, I think, so we can do that.
While our army of Paladins has a +12 OM on the first melee phase of the battle with Smite Evil, Standard Tactics, and a Balanced Strategy, and +10 OM in the Ranged phase which could quickly rout the enemy army, it could be boring for everyone who isn't making mass combat rolls - and if it lasts longer than one battle phase, could be even more boring.
Agreed, I'll let us play through a battle in the camp itself.
After the outcome of the encounter I'll post a summary of the larger battle itself.

It's with a lot of regret that I'm announcing I have to pull out of all my games - I simply don't post often enough, and I'm actually kind of afraid of posting in PbP. No, I don't know why (it's clearly irrational); I like the games, I like the characters, and I like the other players. You're all wonderful. I agree that we should get an arcane caster. It is really nice to have someone in that role, especially the Archmage mythic path is super helpful.
I'm still going to have us continue to play, while we recruit.
I also would like to use Serena as an NPC and side plot point in this game if that is okay with Rednal and none of the rest of you have objections.
ALSO, I can't find the old recruitment thread for the life of me. Do you guys remember specifically if you used point buy, I think by looking at your sheets, you're likely at 20-25PB or any other caveats or house rules when you built?
