GM Tyranius |
Sasha leaps forward to protect her friends and block the stairwell as she strips a good length from the zombie's arm, tearing it free from its body.
The skeletal champion draws it's longsword and advances on Natesh.
Longsword vs Natesh AC 16: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Crit for 22 damage
Natesh is run through with the blade and nearly falls gasping to the floor. Looking up at Ralthiss he sees the necromancer smiling. "That is for the insult insolent whelp. But, don't worry, you will join my army." The skeleton raises it's shield defensively.
The trio of zombies move in around Sasha, biting and clawing at her.

GM Tyranius |
Keep in mind that Leo, Malark and Variel are still upstairs searching, though you are now aware of the threat as Larraz has warned you. You are on the second floor on slide two.
Raini Riversong |
Do we have any idea how long the other members of the party will be, rough estimate? Also, where will they arrive - from the same stairwell?
GM Tyranius |
They are on the second floor, so it is just based on their movement speed is all. They can come down either stairwell.
Raini Riversong |
Seeing his comrade impaled by the hellish warrior, Raini will cast healing magic on the severely wounded wizard.
Healing Spell on Natash: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
2 actions to cast Heal. Natesh gains HP back.
After Natesh is healed, Raini directs Sasha to attack and retreat.
Sasha attack Green zombie: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Slashing damage to Green zombie if hit: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6
The panther then pulls back to a safer position to wait for healing.
Variel Dardala |
Variel hears the call and immediately rushes downstairs. As he gets to the bottom, he assesses the current situation and decides to interfere with the robed man. With a spin and a graceful leap, he changes directions and reaches his target.
30' move, so by my count two Strides gets me next to Ralthiss.
"I wouldn't be so sure of yourself!"
Third action Flurry of Blows, taking -1 for the Bane effect.
Attack #1: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 1 = 24 damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Attack #2: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 1 = 12 damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Natesh Dawnseeker |
Keeping up with the damage, it looks like the Skeleton dropped me to from 15 HP to 0 HP with the 22 damage crit. The damage on the initiative tracker only shows the normal damage though. Is there something that would stop the crit that I'm missing? In either case Raini healed me bringing back to at least 12 HP.
His skin a touch paler from the sudden wound and sudden mending from Raini, Natesh gasps for air as he throws up a quick magical ward to block errant blows as he falls back, his mind searching for how to counter attack.
Cast shield, stand up, stride up stairs

Leo drops the book in his hands and runs toward and down the stairs, his armor clanking and his heavy steps making thunderous noise.
3 action move
GM Tyranius |
@Natesh- Apologies, it was not a crit. At first I thought your AC was 15 which was a crit, then double checked and it was 16 and I forgot to delete that line. So no need to stand up. You can redo your actions.
Variel rushes down the stairs two at a time and punches Ralthiss right in the gut. Leo drops the books in his hands and makes it to the hallway just in time to see Variel running down ahead of him.
Raini pours a bit of healing into Natesh, closing the sword injury before it grows worse. Sasha leaps on the zombie, her back legs kicking wildly as she shreds the bones apart.

That would be kind, and I would take if it allowed, but you were right on my AC. My AC is 15 because of the ongoing fatigue.
Malark Evenwood |
"Desna's star! What is all that ruckus down there?" Malark runs towards his companions and is surprised to see they have company. "The undead have no place in this world. Tremble before the might of the pathfinders and be gone!" The bard's voice echoes through the halls as he seeks to inspire his comrades.
Inspire courage: +1 to attack and damage rolls as well as saves vs fear.
2 actions? to stride, 1 action to inspire courage. If it takes one action to stride to where the action is, Malark will use an action to draw his rapier.
Natesh Dawnseeker |
If I do get my full turn, spend my turn to spend 1 action step to the right of violet zombie and two actions to cast burning hands on the two zombies.
Fire Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 1 = 6 DC 16 Basic Reflex
I assume that inspire courage applies to burning hands and included it in the damage. I can't see anything stating that spell damage would be excluded.
Zhao Kang |
Kang grows increasingly alarmed at the undeads, especially when they come right up to him. "Oh dear, oh dear!"
Grasping an unassuming wooden ring on his right hand, he starts to chant, drawing forth its stored arcane energy. A rip in the space appears as a giant rat crawls out and immediately starts attacking the nearest undead.

GM Tyranius |
Ah, thanks Natesh, Yes that would then put you @ 12 HP and Wounded 1 then.
Kang summons a large rat in Sasha's place as it nips a finger from the zombie's hand. Coming back to his senses Natesh throws a shield up over his body, rolls to his feet and clamors up the stairs. though not before the skeleton takes another stab at him.
Skeleton AoO vs Natesh AC 16: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Crit damage is 18, this will put you at Dying 3
The skeleton's blade slits into Natesh's back, right through his lungs as he collapses back to the ground, gasping for breath. Malark comes down the opposite stairs nearest the necromancer and begins to inspire his companions with his voice. Larraz is nearly out of breath as he makes it down the stairs, He is doubled over and wide-eyed in fright.
Ralthiss rasps a curse as more Pathfinders come down the opposite stairwell. "Back to me." He commands and the skeleton comes to his aid.
Yellow Longsword vs Variel AC 19: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

It then raises it's shield back up to protect itself. The zombie's mindlessly claw at the large rat.

Pink Fist vs Rat AC 15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

One of the zombies grabs the rat, hefting it up as the pair crush it's body.
Ralthis shoves Variel away, retreating in between his skeleton and Variel to let his undead protect him as he concentrates on expanding out the dark energy. Expand Bane out to 10 feet. As his hand touches Variel a dark power courses through his body.

As he sees the newly healed Natesh get struck down, the druid's heart sinks. "NOOOOO!" shouts the gnome as he glares at the evil necromancer. But first, that menacing skeleton.
Touching Sasha, Raini pours forth a focus spell of nature, healing the animal as best as he can for now.
Heal Animal Focus Spell, 2 actions: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Once the healing energy subsides, Raini unleashes Sasha on the skeleton to aid Variel. Sasha strides to flank the enemy and bites.

Piercing damage, if it hits: 2d6 + 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5) + (1) + 2 = 12
Malark Evenwood |
Malark strides towards the center of the room and starts waving his hands to cast a spell. "Excuse me Rasha, could you move over to the side? You might want to close your eyes."
Swirls of colors start flowing from the bard's hands and envelopes Ralthiss and his skeletal companion.
1 action stride, 2 actions Color Spray: Will Save DC 17
Natesh Dawnseeker |
Unless something has changed I don't have a hero point to stabilize so this will be my recovery check to recover/not die unless I'm stabilized.
Leomund "Leo" Velinznrarikovich |
Leo draws his sword as he c-thunks down the stairs with every step. He ends standing over Natesh's body and swings at the nearby undead.
Sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Zhao Kang |
"Really, Raini? I don't think that went very well..."
But even as he whines, he waves his hands in the air as if throwing something at the feet of the zombies, and yells "ග්රීස්!"
A patch of grease appears at the feet of the nearby zombies.
(Ref or Acrobatics vs DC17 or fall prone.)
He then pulls out a vial, ready to feed its contents to Natesh. "Hang in there!" (minor elixir of life)
Variel Dardala |

GM: Waiting to post my action until I see the result of the Color Spray and Sasha's attack.
Natesh Dawnseeker |
Everyone starts with one at the beginning of the adventure. Did you already spend it?
I had already spent it while in the town. Thank you in any case for the reminder.
GM Tyranius |
Kang releases a small bit of grease underneath the zombie's feet.
Blue Reflex DC 17: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Pink Reflex DC 17: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Both zombies slip, slide and fall down as the sound of wet, rotten meat strikes the floor. Natesh continues to gurgle but sounds like he is getting a little better as Kang draws out a potion to help him out. That takes you to Dying 2.
Leo slashes his longsword across the undead zombie, it seems to be very effective. Colors swirl and splash out in the middle of the room.
Skeleton DC 17: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Ralthiss DC 17: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
The slightly less mindless than your average skeleton shakes as it seems stunned. Ralthiss seems completely unaffected by the color burst.

Sorry but Kang hasn't fed Natesh the elixir yet. He used 2 actions to cast the grease (to slow them down), and 1 action to pull out the elixir. He can only feed Natesh the next round.
Raini Riversong |
I don't believe that is the case Zhao. The narrative shows your elixir is pending, not completed. The wording reveals Natesh has stabilized but not been healed yet. At least that is how I read it. :D
Raini Riversong |
But I'll let GM Tyranius clarify. :p
Variel Dardala |
Zhao: Don't forget that in 2e there are no negative hit points - no matter how much damage you take, you stop at 0 and gain the dying condition.
Variel sees a temporary advantage on the skeleton and attacks.
Flurry of Blows, Strike, Strike. +1 attack and damage from Inspire Courage vs flat-footed AC from flanking with Sasha.

Attack #4: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 8 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 - 8 = 6 damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5
Wow, that was fairly unimpressive...
GM Tyranius |
That is correct, the potion has not been fed to Natesh yet. Natesh rolled high enough to take his Dying condition from Dying 3 to Dying 2.
Variel's fist cracks into the skeleton's shield as it cracks the outer later, breaking one of the skeleton's fingers. Shield block
Larraz raises his hand as a lance of positive energy strikes into the skeleton's backside.
Disrupt Undead Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The beam lances right into the skeleton, burning the bones. The skeleton strikes out at the space that Variel was last at.
Blinded flat check DC 11: 1d20 ⇒ 7
The stunned skeleton staggers about before raising it's shield. The zombies rise from the floor and slowly move through the grease.
Ralthiss continues to extend out his dark magic as it's weight is felt about the room. Bane is now out 15 feet. Pointing a finger Ralthiss sends a lance of concentrated evil energy at Sasha.

Electric Arc. Targets are necromancer and skeleton..2 actions for spell and another 1 action to Command Animal Companion.

Malark concentrates on inspiring and lifting others through the battle. He chants another spell as healing energy flows to Natesh. "Rise up, fellow pathfinders. We will fight on!"
Soothe to Natesh: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
1 action to Inspire Courage, 2 actions to cast Soothe on Natesh.
Zhao Kang |
Thanks for the clarification re healing. I misread "Kang draws out a potion to help him out. That takes you to Dying 2."
Kang looks at the elixir in hand even as Malark heals Natesh. Oh well, someone might need it later.
Rather than stow it away, it steps behind Raini and following his lead, summons an arc of electricity that courses between the two zombies.
electric arc: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Ref DC17 for half. Crit fail for double.
Leomund "Leo" Velinznrarikovich |
Leo swings twice at the zombies with practiced efficiency. Afterward he raises an arm, as if it held a shield. He then speaks a word and a swirling circle of magic sits as a shield on his arm.

Ralthiss Reflex DC 18: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Skeleton Reflex DC 18: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Only a single zombie makes it out unscathed as another bursts into flames from the amount of current running through it's body. Leo swiftly hacks his way through the remaining zombie, ending the undead menace.
Malark pours a bit of positive energy back into Natesh to help keep the man alive. Sasha leaps at the skeletal champion, her back legs dig deep into the ribcage and split the skeleton apart, flinging bones all over the room.

Variel smiles as Sasha destroys the skeleton, then turns to the necromancer. Changing his stance into a crouch and holding his fingers like claws, he imitates Sashas movements as he comes around to attack.
1 action to enter Tiger Stance; Stride 30' to circle around behind the necromancer; Flurry of Blows to attack twice with Tiger Claw.

And I continue my streak of accomplishing very little ...
GM Tyranius |
Variel feels the dark magic push back against him as his clawed hands are stopped inches from reaching the necromancer. Natesh chokes and coughs as he stands once more, drawing his crossbow. Larraz helps heal Variel's wounds. "It'll be alright."
Heal (Variel): 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Ralthiss reaches out and touches his hand into Variel's chest.
Harm (2 action): 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

"If allowed, in my humble opinion, from the both his intent and how many of animated bodies he has remaining, I would argue his use malicious and ineffective." Seeing the various undeads go down, Kang breathes a sigh of relief. He runs back down the stairs while keeping his distance. Hmm, need to dismiss that patch of grease. It's more of a hindrance now. But I've got something more important to do first!
Again, another arc of electric appears, this time leaping directly to the necromancer.
electric arc: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 ref DC17 for half.
Raini Riversong |
Don't forget about +1 bonus to hit and damage from Inspire Courage from the bard.

Raini uses the opportunity and spacing left by Variel to position Sasha to continue pressing the necromancer. The panther moves to flank the enemy with Leo, striking with tooth and claw.

S Claw damage: 2d4 + 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + (4) + 3 = 14
Raini then continues throwing eldritch energy at the spellcaster, hoping that a death by a thousand cuts still works.
1 action to command animal companion. 2 actions to cast electric arc.
Electric arc damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Save for 1/2 damage. DC 18.
Natesh Dawnseeker |
Raini is right, I forgot the inspire courage bonus making my crossbow attack a 24 to hit for 3 damage.
GM Tyranius |
Kang arcs a bit of electricity into the necromancer.
Reflex DC 17: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
The shock seems to absorb into the holy symbol dangling from his neck. "That tickled." He gloats as the hairs on his arms stand on end. Variel leaps back and drinks a potion, stemming the tide of his bleeding.
Natesh calms his nerves, lines up a shot and plunks a bolt into Ralthiss' hip. Leo hefts his sword, holding it level and magicallys propels it forward and through the necromacer's chest. Ralthiss gasps as his eyes go wide, clawing futily at the hilt of the sword with bloodied hands.
Sasha dives in, toppling Ralthiss to the ground as she claws and chews on his face. After a moment the necromancer stops moving and the large cat emerges with a bloody muzzle. The undead menace is gone for now but there is still the threat of the massive forces moving in around you.

Malark Evenwood |
Malark sheathes his rapier and lets out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad we've handled this incident without casualties. I'm afraid I'm out of healing spells."
He turns to Larraz. "Are you alright? That was quite impressive back there. You think you still have some spells for the injured?"
Raini Riversong |
Raini looks to his team and bends over to catch his breath.
"That was entirely too close for comfort."
The druid looks over everyone and prioritizes injuries. Seeing Variel is in the greatest need, the gnome pulls out his two Pathfinder scrolls he received from training.
"This is the last of my healing spells. It will have to do. We can't wait another minute longer."
Raini focuses the healing efforts on the first scroll to Variel. 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10. Uses 2-action heal spell to get bonus.
Seeing there are a few other wounded, such as Natesh, Raini elects to spread the healing around to all.
1d8 ⇒ 7 Uses 3-action heal spell for 30 foot burst to get everyone included.
"I'm afraid that's it. We must be going. Let's get what we have, grab Desert Wind, and make haste!" offers the druid.
Zhao Kang |
Kang pulls out another vial from his bandolier. "If anyone else is still wounded, I've got some healing elixirs here. But please, yes let's make haste!"
He does however make a quick search of the necromancer's body, looking particularly for some book or collection of scrolls. Spells are, after all, the weapons of wizards.
Variel Dardala |
"Thank you, Raini, I appreciate the assistance."
Variel looks around and asks, "Did we manage to check every room before the attack? I'd hate to think we left anything behind."
