Rinse and repeat
Harrying fire to AC of red: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 2 = 14 Success
Shoost v KAC: 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 - 4 = 5
P: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Shoost v KAC: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 9
P: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Reconstructor 287 DS |
I just realized 287 needs to move forward.
The top half moves forward and the bottom half shoots the last shots out of its barrels.
Shoost v KAC: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 9
1d6 ⇒ 5
Shoost v KAC: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 15
1d6 ⇒ 1

The bottom half of 287 reloads as the top half reintegrates itself.

You guys are able to move back to Aibretta's area without further incident (the drones didn't have much in the way of salvage on them.)
Remember, you can trade in stuff for UPBs or make your own gear at Aibretta's shop. I encourage you to look through the stuff to see if there is an upgrade for you before tackling the garrison.
Pratt Bivens |
Once we get to Aibretta's place, Pratt collapses, bleeding and exhausted (still 4 HP of damage).
I have a couple of items I really need to get a hold of--one is a suit of Freebooter Armor 1. Since I am eating a lot of attacks, that should help me tank a little more. That should be 750 credits, I believe. I also need a bayonet clip (light). That will make it so I don't have to change weapons if I get into melee. 300 credits.
Vampire GM By Day |
After a night of rest, the PCs get up early the next morning and Aibretta brings them some synth-paste and instant coffee.
"Well, seems Jellick is good for something after all. Before he got caught, he scouted the garrison. Didn't dare go inside, but he got a good look around the outside. There are the main doors of course, and then looks like there are some back entrances too.
Place is made out of the same stuff used to construct starship hulls, so cutting though it with handheld weapons probably won't work. And the locks are probably going to be pretty tough to crack, but there is an upside.
Dunno how, but that idiot figured out that you have to have a special transponder in Azlanti armor to get into the place. Apparently, you also have to have Azlanti blood, but he rigged up Reconstructor's armor here to give a false signal, so you should be able to go in. Question is, do you wanna go in the front or back door?"
Pratt Bivens |
Pratt agrees. "I think the backdoor seems like a good place to begin. If it doesn't seem to give us much advantage, we can always head for the main door. My feeling is they need to be feeling the pinch of low manpower at this point."
Vampire GM By Day |
Slide 4 is set up with you at the back entrance. The door automatically opens when Reconstructor gets within 15' of it. You can peer into M4
This wide room features a single blank screen and a computer folded up on a tray beneath it. A stout metal door in the east wall has an unlit red light above it. Two other doors—one near the heavy door and other in the west wall— are smaller and labeled with vivid green letters.

"Captain, I will defend our rear."
Xawn |
As everyone moved into position and approached the garrison, Xaun felt their ancestral memories tugging at the edge of consciousness. Moments like this were bound to feel familiar: standing on the precipice of fate, about to take actions of great consequence. They had their pistol at the ready and nodded towards Pratt.
Blind Rook |
Stealth (If it matters): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
"Let's keep moving. Mr. Bivens, if you would do the honors?" Rook said, taking up a position to cover Pratt as they moved into the next room.
Vampire GM By Day |
Entering M2:
This long room is lined with bunks, each with a footlocker bearing two different insignia. All the beds are neatly made. The east end of the room contains two rounded protrusions with a narrow hall between them; the northern protrusion has a small door with bright green letters painted on it. Two doors lead out of this room to the south and one more leads east, all labeled with green letters.
Reconstructor 287 DS |
"Captain, our rear is clear."
Blind Rook |
Rook puts a hand against the door of the side room and concentrates on his senses.
M3, the bathroom, using Blindsight to check without entering.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Vampire GM By Day |
Pretty sure blindsight doesn't let you see through walls.
Rook doesn't here much on the other side of the door. Maybe an odd squeeky pipe.
Pratt sees a few personal effects, around on lockers, such a stickers of cartoon Azlanti killing some unknown alien species or a holophoto of young Azlanti cheering over the corpse of a slain beast with the subtitle 'graduation from boot camp' in Azlanti.
Pratt Bivens |
Pratt steps past Rook as he contemplates the bathroom door.
He'll wait to be sure Rook clears that room, then he'll get to the work of giving the bunks and personal effects a good toss to make sure there isn't anything valuable here.
Reconstructor 287 DS |
287 closes the door to their current room and moves purposefully to the door to the bathroom, still facing the back door. "Ready Captain."
Vampire GM By Day |
Opening the door to M7 . . .
This spacious room has four stacked and folded metal tables positioned along the south wall. Several colorful, stylized posters adorn also the walls. Two doors lie to the west, both labeled with vivid green letters, and a 2-foot-square serving window that looks into a kitchen to the west. A door in the north wall also bears green lettering, as does a door in a rounded section of the east wall. A small electronic panel next to the eastern door is equipped with a numbered keypad, a yellow light, and a
camera lens.
The posters appear to be propoganda posters, with slogans like: "An -Azlanti soldier is worth 1000 aliens" and "Dominate the week, it it your birthright."
-The doors to the west are labeled 'lobby' while the ones to the east are labeled 'Command center.' The door you just exited from is labeled 'barracks'
Vampire GM By Day |
Opening M1:
This room is sparsely furnished but well illuminated. A heavy metal double door to the west resembles a starship airlock door. Smaller doors to the north and east are each painted with bright green lettering. The south wall bears several holovid screens displaying a detailed composite map of Madelon’s Landing, with heavy annotations scrolling beneath each building. A computer panel fits snugly beneath the screens on a sleek foldout shelf.
Xawn |
"Rook," asked Xaun quietly "What if this is a trap? This doesn't feel right!"
It was only when they examined the barracks that it had hit Xaun just how young many of these soldiers were. Soldiers? Maybe cadets. Who knows how these Azlanti treated their young? They could very well accelerate the growth of any conscript to adulthood using any number of vile biotech methods.
Saplings they thought feeling sick with shame. We've been killing saplings.
Pratt Bivens |
Pratt enters the room and takes a closer look at the displays and computers.
Hey, I noticed we missed M5 back near to backdoor. Should we check that out before we head into the round room?
Vampire GM By Day |
Backtracking to M5, you find a storage room. Inside are:
1 Pulsecaster Rifle
2 Autotarget Rifles
6 batteries (20 charges)
2 sets of manacles
200 ft. Titanium Cable
And a weaponsmithing Toolkit (+2 to Engineering checks when creating/modifying weapons)
Pratt Bivens |
"Now these are some nice weapons. I think I can put this autotarget rifle to use right now, although I could use some more ammo.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Hopefully someone else can take a shot at this perception check.
Blind Rook |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
"These don't need ammunition. They smell like accelerant, grenades I'm assuming," Rook said, as he fished out the box of explosives from behind a crate.
Pratt Bivens |
"I don't know how I missed those, Rook. I can definitely use those. I used my last grenade in the graveyard. I can use all of these grenades, unless someone else would like to hold on to one of them."
Pratt will also shoulder one of the autotarget rifles, and take the magazine out of the other one. The manacles may also come in handy, so he'll hold on to those. He'll probably also want that tool kit. The rest of the stuff can be stashed to pick up later.
Blind Rook |
"They are not exactly my style. Too loud, too smelly," Rook said, crinkling his lupine nose at the idea of using the grenades.
Unless any has any objections, shall we dig deeper?
Reconstructor 287 DS |
"Captain, I still have not seen any Azlanti forces."
Pratt Bivens |
"I think we may have killed a good number of them, 287. I still suspect there might be a few deep in the bowels of this building, though. Why don't we keep looking for them."
Heading for M6. With Rook nearby, Pratt will pop the door open and sweep the room with his laser rifle.
