Mogmurch by Larry Smith |

Mogmurch gets an evil gleam in his eye. "How about I try to cut the wasp nest down. Very. Carefully. Then throw it inside the house."
He makes a throwing motion, playing out his fantasy. "A buzz bomb with a billion bites!"

GMRed's Pregen |

Poog stares up at the wasp nest, when an idea strikes him. "Fire also very strong against wasps, Mogmurch. Maybe you cut down nest, and Poog uses flames to burn to ash!"

The Lady's Pregen |

"Any idea always better with fire," Chuffy nods sagely as he wipes the blood off his borrowed dogslicer. "Sneaky sneak up there, cut down wasp nest, set on fire, *then* throw!"

GM Puckers |

The goblins stand and stare at the wad of mud, contemplating their next move. The nest is on the railing so with some care they could probably move past it without disrupting it.
A long range barrage could release the wasps, but what would happen next you never can quite tell.
Burning it (and anything in general) is always on the table.
So whatcha gonna do? Let's see some rolls on what you decide!

Mogmurch by Larry Smith |

Mogmurch will Take 10 on Stealth (22), Climb (13), and Sleight of Hand (18).
Mogmurch gulps, swallowing his fear, then sneaks up the gangplank, climbs up the rickety handrail, and--very gingerly--loosens the wasp nest from its dried-mud anchor.
Returning to his friends, he asks, "Anybody got a sack?"
"I'm not gonna stick this in my pants.!"

GM Puckers |

Only the bravest and most hero of the goblins dares tackle the mud wasp nest: Mogmurch! Quiet as a mouse and with great care he ascends the step gangplank, one rung at a time, stepping through vines and overgrown vegetation to reach the top. Now that he's on the top rung and starts with his dogslicer to pry the nest from the railing....
TWANG!
The vines on the ladder snap tight and rip the nest right off the rail, hurtling it down to the bottom of the gangplank!
Sorry, your earlier perception check was just short of seeing this trap!
If you pass the save then you are able to snatch the nest from the air before it crashes to the ground below.
If you fail it lands and smashes open, releasing a very ANGRY swarm of wasps...
Feel free to describe your heroics, or lack there of as you see fit, or I can.

Mogmurch by Larry Smith |

Reflex DC15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
"Doh!" Mogmurch exclaims, when the vine tripwire he didn't notice on the gangplank heel-picks him.
Time seems to slow as he teeters on tiptoe, reaching up and out, lobbing the nest into the air. He twists as he falls, landing on his back with a squishy thud. The nest lands in his outstretched arms. The buzzing inside increases in volume for a few, tense moments, before it settles back to a low, constant thrum.
"Wow!" Mogmurch, covered in mud, gets back on his feet, a dung-eating grin on his face. "Did you see that!?"

GMRed's Pregen |

Poog applauds the display. "Cool! Should Poog burn nest now, or maybe leave alone? If fire doesn't kill all wasps, angrier wasps might escape burning nest and STING!"

GM Puckers |

As was Mogmurch's plan all along, he makes the spectacular look routine. Nestled in his arms like a sleeping whelp is the nest of wasps, ready to be used however he may desire.
The main deck of the shipwreck is cluttered with objects both natural and artificial. Thick swaths of leafy vines grow over the deck, and shiny green patches of algae and moss grow where the vines do not. The central cabin's roof has a wide edge, creating a canopied walkway along the ship's sides. A flight of steps up to the roof of the ship's main cabin, the entrance to which is blocked by a door decorated by a large number of rodent and bird skulls. A smoking stovepipe chimney extends up from the ship's highest point above.
Two rickety wooden platforms—crow’s nests—sit on the masts, ten feet above the ship’s deck below. Each is linked by a pair of thick ropes, and additional ropes hang down from the platform on the stern-most mast to the deck.
Its a bit confusing to describe the layout so please look at the map so you can see the full ship layout to the right of the map. The gangplank puts you on the main deck which gives you two straight forward options: up the set of stairs in front of you to the door with rodent and bird skulls, or around the edge of the ship to the stern.
Oh, just to reiterate, the wasp nest is made of dried mud, so its level of flammability isn't the same as a paper wasp nest would be.

GMRed's Pregen |

"Fine, this time, Poog be sneaky, even though hate being sneaky," Poog grumbles. "Dogfinder, you be quiet too. No croaking, or you get fried."
On his tip-toes, Poog quietly makes his way along the edge of the ship.

Mogmurch sneaks back up the gangplankladder, much more cautious this time.
"Watch out for trip-vines," he whispers.
He gets his friends' attention and points three fingers at his eyes and nose, the universal goblin signal for 'Look and you smell.' Then he moves around the south side of the deck, looking, listening, and stinking, er, smelling.

"Nice catch Moggy," is all Chuffy has to say on the matter as he quietly joins the others up on the main deck of the ship. He decides to follow in the same direction that Poog is headed, keeping his peepers and such peeled for trouble...and shinies.

The group quietly makes its way onto the ship, splitting up with a pair on each side of the covered walkway. As they creep along Poog steps on a hollow reed that blew onto the deck, and the crack and pop makes just enough noise to cause a brown poodle to cock its head around the corner, looking down towards Poog. It starts to let out a low growl, a well chewed bone between its teeth.

"... DOG!!!!" Poog yell-whispers, frantically waving his club around. "Can we kill it? We must, or we not really goblins, right?" He insists.

Mogmurch by Larry Smith |

Still looking around, Mogmurch wonders what he can see, hear, or smell on the south side of the ship's superstructure...

GM Puckers |

From his position Mogmurch hears the growling of a dog along with Poog whisper yelling DOG! The growling is growing louder...

Mogmurch by Larry Smith |

Take 10 Stealth for 22
Mogmurch creeps along the boat's deck, until he can peek around the cabin and see the giant, growling poodle.
He retrieves the juicy slug he'd kept in a small pot and tosses it to the dog. "You can have my snack, doggie," he whispers in encouragement.
That should distract him. The little goblin gulps. I hope.

GM Puckers |

I adjusted Poog and put a brown box over the center of the ship. The outer edges are the only walkable areas on the front half of the ship on this level.
The dog eyes Mogmurch warily as he tosses it what could be a treat, or just a gross slimy slug. Please make a handle animal check Sir to cow the dog if you wish. If you aren't acting in good faith then include a bluff check.
Once Moggy gets closer he can see the dog is chained to the stern's mast, but the chain is rusty.

Mogmurch by Larry Smith |

Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 15
I ain't no dog-handler, but maybe I can fake it. Mogmurch points at the slug, and gives the poodle an encouraging smile. Or at least it's what a goblin imagines is such an expression.

GM Puckers |

Fort vs Sluggo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
The dog gives Mogmurch a wary eye then stands and takes a few steps, sniffing the slug. The dog is pretty thin, and its fur in need of trimming. It daintily grabs the slug and swallows it down, gagging only slightly on the slime. It stands there waiting for more, never really understanding that the only reason people like poodles is they don't shed.
I'm going to assume you all plan to kill the dog so I'll roll out initiative. Mogmurch gets a surprise round, as well as the hidden Chuffy. Then its on to initiative order!

Chuffy I moved you back 1 square to keep the mast between you and the dog. Stealth states you need to end your turn in cover if you wish to maintain stealth. If you don't care to keep stealth then move yourself back.
Breaking Stealth: When you start your turn using Stealth, you can leave cover or concealment and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment. End of Combat. Save your resources: fire bolt, arrow.
A few different options for exploration lay before the goblins. From the other side of Mogmurch's mast, there is a door into the inner part of the ship.
There are dangling ropes leading up to a series of crow's nests.
Up on the level with Chuffy is a door that leads into the room with the smoke stack coming from the roof.
What shall you all do now?

The Lady's Pregen |

"Yeah! Chuffy #1 Critter-Stabber!"
Pleased with his track record Chuffy does a little gyrating victory dance before slowly lowering his dogslicer and looking around.

Chuffy, nor Reta hears anything from the door on the upper deck of the ship. Some light smoke rolls out of the tin chimney from its roof. All manner of dead critters are nailed to the door. Bones and feathers, skulls, etc. It resembles the door they saw on the other side when they first climbed onto the ship.

The Lady's Pregen |

"Yeah! Chuffy like big booms and cannot lie," the sadistic little stabber nods eagerly. "Maybe even make boom so big they see it back home! We be even famouser!"

GM Puckers |

The goblins make some grand 'explosive' plans, staring at the ladder that goes to the roof of the small, smoking hut before them. The ladder however doesn't reach the top of the smoke stack, so someone will need to make the climb up the 15' tall metal stack.
If this is your plan then I need someone to do that and which bomb do you want to drop down? Are you lighting it first or dropping it down in hopes it lights itself? Please include a climb check!

GMRed's Pregen |

Quick as a hiccup Poog makes the executive decision to scale the smoking tin mountain and flush out what lies beneath with his 'bunker buster 5000'. He makes his way up the pipe, moving quickly as the tin is pretty warm to the touch but not enough to burn. He lights the end of the foot long rocket, sending a shower of sparks flooding out the end. With a yelp he drops it down the pipe and high tails it down the pipe to the roof top below.
Before he can even get to the ladder a stream of fiery sparks shoot out of the top of the chimney and a loud VOOOMMP! announces the ignition of the propulsive charge. The metal stove pipe shakes and shimmies, announcing to the world that POOG is HERE!
BANG!
An explosion rocks the hut, blasting the door wide open and almost knocking Chuffy upside the head.
Smoke and sparks pour out the door, along with what looks like a very confused, burned, and blinded dog of immense size that stands up just inside the door! Shards of bone stick out of the dogs skin like shrapnel, and hot embers singe his fur and eyes.
