Barlespin |

Barlespin says to Morgan, "That's not necessary is it ...?" He then shrieks as he is attacked.
How far away from the shell am I when this thing strikes at me? Can I strike at the tentacles, or do I have to get closer to strike at the creature's main body? And is that main body still below the ground, or is it now visible?

Zaraith Menstina |

Waiting to see the effects of Sinna's spell on the creature, Zaraith draws his sword and looks at the shelled creature.
I am still here at least. Apologies for not posting for a while, but some real life things came up. Also, I would have tried to posted sooner, but everytime there was something that I wanted Zaraith to do, someone else had already done it by the time I could get on.

Watanabe Ren |

Watanabe grants Zaraith insight.

GM Ietsuna |

The Ghelarn has 10 foot reach so Barlespin is within the 10 foot zone. You cannot attack the tentacles but can 5 foot step into melee.
It is inside its shell but still able to be harmed by attacks, it just has an armour bonus from its shell.
Morgan shoots at the ghelarn again and strikes it .

Zaraith Menstina |

Zaraith moves up to the unconscious creature, raising his sword up before looking over at Barlespin. He holds his attack until the Grippli takes his actions.
Watanabe, which way did you bless Zaraith?
Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 = 10

GM Ietsuna |

Regardless of Barlespin's actions Zaraith's attack is enough to kill the Ghelarn.

Barlespin |

Ah, okay ... didn't intend to be anywhere near 10 feet away from the shell. No biggie, though.
Barlespin reaches for his polymer net, then shakes his head and instead pulls his dagger. By the time he does so, however, the creature has been slain. He nods to Zaraith. "Good work."

Zaraith Menstina |

Waiting a moment to be sure the creature is dead, Zaraith then nods at Barlespin. "Thank you." He then wipes down his blade and holds it, ready in case anything else is in this room.

Sinna Trexl |

Sinna regards the now slain Ghelarn, her face impassive as she says, "While I am not certain why this creature had to die....what is done is done...Let us keep to the path, so that other creatures, including us, need not die needlessly."
She gestures for Barlespin to come closer, holding her hand over his injuries.
Again , tiny motes of light emerge from her hand, settling on the wounded flesh, healing...
CWL: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Watanabe Ren |

Right as Sinna begins casting Watanabe says, "Wait." He concentrates and saturates the air with magical energy, super charging Sinna's spell. He then nods indicating for Sinna to continue.
Heal 1 more Barlespin.

Morgan Kincade |

"Guys, I suggest that we go south east." Morgan starts moving in suggested direction.

I am on the map 2nd slide

GM Ietsuna |

Morgan follows the path through the sandy room and finds that it leads around behind a rock formation. Here the walls become much more uniform and more "man-made"

Sinna Trexl |

Sinna give Barlespin a once over to make sure he's better, nods her t hanks to Watanabe for his arcane assistance, then follows Morgan across the sandy 'arena'.
Once around the rock formation, she nods, looking at Morgan before proceeding...

GM Ietsuna |

A crisp glow of light shines from the northern wall of this cavern, although no obvious source of the light is apparent.

GM Ietsuna |

Watanabe detects no magic on teh doors and Morgan detects no traps. However they both realize that the door is locked, but there is a small panel on it which looks to accept some kind of flat key.

Barlespin |

Barlespin nods to Sinna and Watanabe as they heal him. "Thanks for your assistance." With the creature slain, he surveys the area around the Ghelarn, to see if the creature, glancing inside the shell since he is so close.

The brown card does indeed fit and the door slides open as if by some kind of magic, although there is no hint of actual magic.

Barlespin |

Barlespin has his polymer net at the ready as he examines the new area.

GM Ietsuna |

This metal room is brightly lit by glowing panels in the ceiling above. To the left and right, complex machines consisting of spiral tubes and nozzles twitch and hum.

Barlespin |

Barlespin enters the room and begins looking in wonder at the various machines and glowing panels, trying to interpret their meaning.

Poke

GM Ietsuna |

Sorry. I have a few things going on. Work has been hectic and my marriage fall apart over the holidays. I am fine, but just getting things straightened out financially is a bit taxing.
Roll: 1d4 ⇒ 2
The pipes on the wall hiss but nothing comes from them.

GM Ietsuna |

The air in this room seems to buzz and hum with energy. Strips of glowing rectangles light the room from above, while strange flickering windows line the east and west walls. A large glass-topped circular table sits in the middle of the room. To the north sits a large metal desk covered with blinking lights, while a humming pillar of purple-and-black metal stands nearby, its sides flashing with tendrils of violet energy. A single golden panel flashes with a soft but incessant light on the side of this pillar. A thick layer of dust coats everything, diffusing the lights shining from the various surfaces, and many of the machines seem to be damaged, cracked, or otherwise ruined.
I have a zoomed in map on slide 2

Watanabe Ren |

Watanabe looks about the room lingering on the pillar. Anything that looks like writing? Do I know what kind of metal the pillar is?

Barlespin looks at the various objects in the room, particularly the large metal desk and the circular table. On the desk, in particular, he looks for anything that looks like a drawer or other storage compartment. He also searches the room for traps.

GM Ietsuna |

The metal of the pillar seems unlike any that you have seen before. The table seems to be very flat and smooth, with no drawers or other storage places. Barlespin finds no traps.

Barlespin |

With a 24 on Knowledge(engineering) I don't notice any sort of console or interface anywhere? Just lights?

GM Ietsuna |

Just lights. A single golden panel flashes with a soft but incessant light on the side of this pillar.
Watanabe touched the metal of the pillar and it feels cool to the touch, but other than that nothing happens. He takes a small scraping of the strange metal

Barlespin |

"This is a rather useless desk ... Who would cast light on a desk or table? Lights flashing on a desk wouldn't even help you read." He shrugs. "Perhaps a custom of those strange creatures with the extra arms ..."
Convinced there's nothing to find in this room, he proceeds back into the hallway, heading toward the next room as silently as he can.

A large metal table is surrounded by odd-looking chairs in this room. To the west, what appears to be a transparent wall looks out over a strange desert valley. Four pillars support the fifteen foot- high ceiling, while dozens of crude images of a pickaxe made of a skull and bones have been painted onto the walls with some sort of ivory pigment along with several phrases in an unrecognizable language.
Also here, standing gazing out through the transparent window is a four armed individual Picture on the left side of the map on slide 2

Knowledge (arcana, dungeoneering, engineering, or planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Not sure which of these, if any, would apply to identifying the creature.
Barlespin tries.

GM Ietsuna |

The creature seems to hear you all, but not understand.
It would be knowledge religion to identify the creature. It does look to be no longer living, or undead as you may say it. But you can identify it as a kasatha, like those previously seen in the desert area.
