Is there a map? No preference either way, just wondering how far I am from the enemy with my 60 darkvision and which meatshield ally is in front of me.

Nugats cautiously steps towards the frakas, "You ok, Narayan? We heard some really gross noises back here and then a scream. The scream was weird, it was like a wet plop grunt, followed by a high pitch squeal. Is that the sound you make when you are in trouble?"

Holding the rest of my action for kn rolls and distances

Nugats wrote:

Yes, follow the link above (info) and go to slide 5.

If you look at the map, you'll see that you'll need to (double)move up the stairs before you can see the enemies.

Nugats covers the remaining distance on his short legs, huffing puffing as he goes. Once at the top of the stairs, he tries to discern what is causing Narayan so much trouble.

As he sees the creatures, he covers his mouth in a gut wrenching dry heave. "Oh my! They are so gross. The insides are on the outsides. Not right. Not right at all." he continues to look wide eyed at the undead.

thanks GM!

Nugats (Bone): 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 12 + 2 = 29
Nugats (Green): 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 2 = 26

Nugats recognized both undead.

Bone is a Morgh, and Nugats knows it has no energy resistances or immunities and no DR. It differs from the Morghs he has encoutered before or read about that is seems to be attuned to the tapesties demi-plane and it is able to move through walls as a needle moves through cloth.

Green is a Cursed King, Nugats knows it has no energy resistance or immunities, but it does have DR (-). It too is attuned to the tapestry.

Boros quick steps behind the rumbling gnome, holding his bow with arrows at the ready. "Take them down quick! Get Narayan out of there!"

Can I see them from my position halfway up the stairs or do I need to get to the top?

As soon as Tree gets into position, surrounding the cursed king, Boros knows he can get a perfect shot in.

If I can see the Cursed King and take a shot from the steps:
Boros takes one of the standard arrows just recently coated in the holy weapon balm, takes aim, and releases the bolt. It zips through the air, expertly flying over Tree's right shoulder.

Modifiers - point blank, precise, deadly aim, coordinated shot, enfilading fire, holy weapon balm
Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 for Damage: 1d8 + 10 + 2d4 ⇒ (1) + 10 + (1, 2) = 14
If that attack hits, he has to make a DC 10 reflex save or take an additional 1d4 damage next round

If I can't see them from my current position on the stairs:
Boros gets right behind Nugats, snarling that he can't see over the crest of the staircase. His bow is out, and he grabs two arrows, knocking them on the string together. He calls out a short prayer to Callistria to guide his next shot. Cast True Strike

You'll need to get to the top of the stairs to see the enemies and the stairs count as difficult terrain when going up. Also there hasn't been time yet for buffs for durations of a minute or less, so the blessed weapon balm is still in its container.

Ok, perfect. That will change my actions just slightly then. I missed the part about difficult terrain so I will reposition my token.

Boros uncorks the ceramic vial from his bandolier and pours holy contents onto a handful of arrows as he moves up to the base of the stairs.

Move action to get close to the stairs, standard action to apply the holy weapon balm.

Unfortunately you scattered a bit too much for ideal Hasting.

"It is good to see such... enthusiasm."

Sparky will move up the stairs. As a swift action he will retrieve his wand of Haste from his spring loaded wrist sheath. Then he will cast haste on himself, Keriassa, Nugats, and Tree.

Haste

Quote:

When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)

A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses.

All of the hasted creature's modes of movement (including land movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a maximum of twice the subject's normal speed using that form of movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and it affects the creature's jumping distance as normal for increased speed. Multiple haste effects don't stack. Haste dispels and counters slow.

Don't forget TREE has Circle of protection vs Evil 10ft radius going as well.

Sparky has no knowledges of these undead, but Keriassa does know some additional information.

Keriassa knows the morhgs can cause paralysis, and normally can create spawn, but this ability might be suppressed due to the tapestry attunement.

She also knows some things about Cursed Kings. They have a demanding aura, which means that creatures close to it can be terrified into subservience. They can go berserk when fighting. They are vulnerable to fire and upon their destruction they release a curse that can transform people into animals.

Another mohrg walks through a wall and moves to Nugats licking the gnome with its purple tongue.

With the fight rolling up to the top of the stairs, Boros sees the wretched undead towering over his magical friend. In a flash, two arrows are knocked on his bowstring at the same time and arcing through the air. Before they even have a chance to close the short distance, another arrow is on the string and being loosed. Like a blur, Boros looses a barrage of bolts coated in holy weapon balm at the Mohrg with the purple mold on his ribs.

Modifiers for the below rolls - Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Manyshot, Rapid Shot, Coordinated Shot, Deadly Aim, Inspire Courage, Holy Weapon Balm. I have a table of how each of the potential modifiers I can use affect my to hit and damage in my profile, and I am happy to go through them in the discussion tab if you want me to!

Attack #1 (manyshot): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 for Damage #1: 2d8 + 26 + 4d4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 26 + (2, 1, 3, 1) = 39

Attack #3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 for Damage #3: 1d8 + 13 + 2d4 ⇒ (4) + 13 + (3, 1) = 21

Edit: Oops - forgot to mention that that was 4 total arrows. each one requires a DC 10 Reflex save or burn with holy fire for 1d4 damage next round. DC10 might be auto save at this level, but hey, worth mentioning at least.

Narayan is affected by the Cursed King's dying curse.

spoiler:
DC was 21
and gets wisdom damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 and charisma damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

With the enemies defeated you get the guides from their hiding place and approach the broken ziggurat. You deduct that the structure was the site of countless bloody rituals. The southwest corner of the structure has collapsed, revealing an interior stone door covered in runes. Several lizardfolk bodies lie nearby. The lizardfolk guides cry out, proclaiming that Oosthic sent these lizardfolk to retrieve whatever lies beyond the door.

There are three sets of runes, red, white and green. Anyone who can read Aklo, Draconic, or Undercommon, or who casts read magic, can read the runes:

Red:
Warm blood feeds the cold god.

White:
Pure minds speak in silence.

Green:
False skin emboldens the true.

I'm actually surprised I have no scrolls of Lesser Restoration. I normally spend 2 PP for 5 on my character. I see Narayan has 2 and Boros should be able to use them on him. And Narayan should be able to spend 2 PP for 5 scrolls since we have access to gear worth 1,500 or less.

"Good job all."

Sparky translates the runes then looks around for the trap.

Nugats comes out of his stupor. Agitated that he partook in none of the fun, he kicks the undead king before turning to Narayan. "You look terrible. Is there anything that I can do for you?"

Upon seeing the runes, he pulls his lesser silent metamagic rod out of his pack. "The runes probably describe some kind of telepathy or mind control, but just in case it is literal I came ready to fight in silence. If you can read lips look at me because silence will never stop me from talking."

He whistles softly as he follows.

The runes are clearly wards against the unworthy.

Tree rummages around in his haversack and pulls out a wand. It has a tag tied to it that reads: "Lesser Restoration (X)(X)(_)(_)(_)(_)(_)"

"Is this wut you need? This really cool Tengu guy named Zepha gave it ta me on this mission in Tian Xia. I used my irresistible charms(*) and tha Lodge let me keep it. I still 'ave no idea how ta use these things tho."

After listening to Sparky's translation, Tree will hesitate:

"I dunno 'bout dis feedin' a 'cold god' bidniss."

he'll look around for secret doors or any other way to proceed:

Narayan grins broadly at the offers of assistance, then closes his eyes to center himself, "Thank you friends, but thiss help should not be needed."

Unlesss Keriassa's earlier knowledge of this Curse indicates otherwise, Narayan will just use his Restoration SLA to clear his damage.
Taking a back seat on the puzzle though. Happy to roll any skill checks to decipher things, but Narayan's not exactly a skillsy-boy :-p

Keriassa's knowledge of the exact workings of the curse is limited, but Narayan quickly finds out that his restoration doesn't cure the ability damage.

NB: The hitpoint damage done by the Cursed King is cureable.

Knowledge (arcana/history)

Boros: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Sparky Fantastico: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33
Nugats: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36
Tree: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Keriassa: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 26

Nugats recalls that serpentfolk are masters of telepathy and view creatures lacking telepathy as beings fit only for servitude. Tree and Sparky confirm this.

So I suck as puzzles - no laughing here. There has to be some attainable way to use telepathy other than TelepathySchool divination [mind-affecting]; Level medium 4, mesmerist 4, psychic 5, sorcerer/wizard 6, spiritualist 6

Nugats casts Message in the hopes that the runes accept his paltry magics.

Bummer. We needed to spend two knowledge-check-Details to find out the effect of the curse then? Ah well, Ki is cheap.

Narayan stands back up, a perplexed look on his face. "When we return, we musst find ssome sscroll that can help me cleanse this."

Sparky Fantastico wrote:

Sparky drips some blood on the red rune, but nothing happens.

Knowledge (religion)
Boros Know Religion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Sparky Fantastico: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Keriassa: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 26

Nugats deducts that the stone on top of the zigurat is an altar where serpentfolk often sacrificed “lesser” creatures to their cruel gods.

When Sparky touches the altar with his bloody hand the red runes deactivate.
