Gotta go, will post tonight. But in starship combat crits don't do double damage. If they get to the hull, it damages a random system.

And that'll go through, so...starboard weapons are glitching!

The torpedo flies through space and hits the pirate ship through the hole in shields that Oda created.

Botting Rat, I'll have him try diverting to weapons. Things might not last as long as expected, though!

Oda's shot is dead-on, breaking through shields and into a weapons bay. Q-10 follows up with an absolutely devastating hit, with nothing to soften the blow. The Lawblight's life support systems are badly damaged. The pirates manage to maneuver around your trajectory - sudden panic'll do that to you.

Spider looks amazed by the great shots that the crew is making.

"Well done boys! Those pirates will learn their lesson today, hold on."

As he changes the throttle Spider makes their ship to fly backward.

Botting Q. I thought we were out of guns, but there's 4 on the front arc! Not too shabby.

Q-10 takes up the missiles or heavy laser, whichever one Oda isn't using. His shot hits easily but doesn't have much effect. The pirates leave their captain to flounder while they try to work a too-little, too-late fix on their defenses.

Shouldn't there be more crits happening? If I calculated well GM rolled 3 crits: one for guns and two for life support. However we should get 1 for natural 20, and given that we removed 53 HP from there hull and assuming that their CT is similar to ours (17) we should get 3 more (4 crits in total). So they should get 1 more crit. I was so much hoping for some engine damage so that I can gain upper hand in the initiative. However it seems that this fight might be over in this round- fingers crossed.

"Great work agents, their ship is barely holding. Keep on shooting."

Back off, DC16: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Spider again backs-off their ship knowing very well that their front shields are depleted for now. He hopes that their shooters will devastate the enemy ship.

I may have missed a crit, not quite sure. Their CT was 14, so you were just shy of one before this round.

1d100 ⇒ 62

Rat brings down shields and causes the Lawblight's engine to shudder. Q-10's missile hits the battered front. They fire back in the same instant, but ineffectually, shots missing or dealing superficial damage. The ship doesn't explode, but parts of it shatter and peel off. The pirate ship floats. It would be difficult to repair, especially with their life support on the blink. If they manage to return to civilization or their old ways, it wouldn't be on this wreck.

Your call as to whether they get that slim chance to begin with.

Good work! That was easier than I expected, I guess it was a tier 4 ship against a tier 2. The scenario doesn't discuss it, but your call what happens to the Lawblight. We can move on the conclusion speech and such shortly.

As the Lawblight is taken care of, Zahvos lets out a celebratory cry.

"Woot! We actually did it!" He grins to the crew. "Great job, all! I'd suggest turning the ship and its occupants over to the authorities. If that's even possible, given that we're quite far from Absalom Station."

"Spider" Male CG kasatha space pirate operative 2 | HP 16/16 SP 12/12 | RP 3/3 | EAC 14; KAC 15 | Fort +0; Ref +5; Will +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: +6, SM: +6 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: None.

"Huh, that was quick. We can send their positions to the authorities, they will 'rescue' them." says Spider, happy that this fight went better than the last one.

Rat disengages the targeting systems and focuses on the engineering console. A mix a Dwarven swears and check-ins with FR10R punctuate system repairs.

"Let the authorities have them, if they last that long. They can tell their friends Starfinders look after their own."

With the Lawblight out of the picture, you're free to return to Absalom Station. Venture-Captain Arvin stands at the ship's ramp as it extends for you to disembark. He greets you all with a warm smile.

"I trust it went well, considering the lack of any scratches on the Odyssey. A quick rundown of events would be appreciated. You can undergo the tedium of a complete debrief later. First, I’ve arranged for you all to enjoy a few days’ downtime in Kemanis, at the high-end clubs, theaters, and VR parlors. You’ve earned it. But," he warns, with a sly twinkle in his eye, "after that, it’ll be time to put you back to work."

So, you know, until Gameday starts a week from now.
