As the creature tries to stand Kirrote takes full advantage of its unguarded state.

battleaxe@monster, two-handed, flanking: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 2 = 15
damage,two-handed: 1d12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 3 = 12

Stinky rolls...

Spell & AoE Templates | 4-10: Arclord's Abode

CORRECTION I forgot the initial 3 damage from the breaking glass, Hootie should now be unconscious and bleeding out. Also, the creature's claws inflict bleed. Kirrote's bleed was stopped via Aldran's curing, but Hootie still has bleeding, and so automatically fails stabilization checks (meaning you have 8 rounds to heal her).

Botting Yangrit, because I know she's out of town now.

Cold Iron Kama: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The dwarf piles on as the creatures works back to its feet, along with her teammates. Her kama is held flush with her forearm, the blade jutting out to the side like a natural hook appendage to her limb. She wields it just as naturally, planting the entire blade in the mass of flesh.

However, there's still a lot of meat on this creature, and the party notices their gashes and stabs are damaging it, but not at the level they would expect from their exertions.

Now that the creature has its footing, blows taken, it turns its attention to Yangrit. It rears back with one of its large arms and swings a claw at her.

GM screen:

claws, S damage: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 171d6 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Thankfully the monk is still sharp on her feet and deftly dodges, leaving only air for it.

Yes thank you, I did forget that late at night :) So, does anybody have the acrobatics bonus to get over to hootie with some healing? Or do you think you can do this in eight rounds and then save her?

Edit: forgot I'd come over to heal Kirrote. I'll do that before moving on to other actions. Sorry for the confusion, GM, if you saw this post before I edited it.

Ahmande sees Hootie fall, but she's on the other side of the creature. He had little confidence in his own ability to move past that monstrosity safely, but a glance at Aldran only confirms that the dwarf could only fare worse.

"Aldran, can you get to Hootie? Run around, through the hall maybe?"

Hoping Aldran can help, Ahmande returns his focus to the rest of his allies. "This beastie is tough, but we're far from lost here. Rally around my voice, redouble our efforts!" He quickly looses a charge from his wand of cure light wounds into Kirrote, then stows the wand and steps back.

Actions:

Free: maintain bardic performance
Standard: activate wand of cure light wounds
Move: stow wand of cure light wounds
5' step

cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Ahmande's Acrobatics is only +1; he'd run through the hall to get to Hootie himself, but he needs to stay in the room to keep Inspire Courage up.

Worst case scenario, I channel energy and heal the monster as well.

Spell & AoE Templates | 4-10: Arclord's Abode

One other note, in the mummy fight you were able to coerce it to try to move in the grease, forcing it to fall prone alot: a fantastic strategy against a very high-powered/CR creature who has a horrible reflex save as an achilles heel. Your characters can all kind of tell by now that this thing is not *that* slow, but still pretty slow...

Ahmandé, I hadn't seen the post, so any edits are good. Ahmandé/Aldran, I like the strategy of exiting the room through the west and coming back through the other door. Count the squares on the map, but that seems very doable in the 8 rounds. The only disadvantage is if you're suddenly going to be wishing you could heal more of your teammates back on the original side. On the channel strategy: not a bad idea and it would *stop* Hootie's bleeding, thereby giving her a stabilization check. From there she has a fighting chance to succeed at that.

Spell & AoE Templates | 4-10: Arclord's Abode

Gratius thrusts with his pole-arm again, but this time it's learned his moves and dodges. Unfortunately for it, it opens itself to Kirrote, who slashes into it.

Ahmandé continues his inspiring words while taking a moment to lessen Kirrote's wound. The half orc is feeling better as the moments pass, not as near to the edge of peril as their companion Hootie now resides.

Aldran ponders the most effective move he could make, and his moment has arrived!

claw attack of opportunity, S damage, bleed: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 241d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d4 ⇒ 3

Its massive arm thrusts through Aldran's sanctuary and catches him across the chest with a massive claw as he passes.

24 to hit for 13 dmg, 3 bleed

Now it's time to get creative...

The fleshy construct, suddenly seems feeling confined by the enclosed space in the grease. It turns towards Yangrit and plants its back foot to rush at her...

GM Screen:

Acrobatics, move from grease at half movement, DC10: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (20) - 5 = 15
Bullrush vs. CMD14: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22

From one point of view, that's perfect because you stopped two bleeds and only healed the creature as minimally as possible.

Aldran stops the bleeding for two of his companions, deferring ultimate peril for the time being. He also notices, curiously, that his positive energy does not affect the creature at all. for... reasons :)

A field of arid soil the color of a rusty blade is littered with grave markers arranged in symmetrical rows. Despite the lack of water, the ground and gravestones are covered with mossy lichens, spiny cacti, and knotted, thorny brambles with pale blossoms that bloom in clumps. A few yucca trees stand between the graves, their trunks the color of bleached bone. None of the more recent, cleaner headstones show any signs of religious patronage, and many of the older headstones bear scars where religious iconography and aphorisms have been chiseled away or ground to dust. However, closer examination shows this dust is exactly like the strange residue left behind by those afflicted with aurum death. The stone walls of the structure themselves appear to have once been covered with ornate, carved illustrations which have now been sanded or acid- stripped away.

Knowledge (religion) DC15:
You recognize that the unique shape of the building and doorway indicates that this is most likely an ancestral tomb reserved for one specific family, and that some of the residual “ghosts” of the illustrations on its outer walls could be forms associated with a deity (though it’s now impossible to tell which one).

"Two golden gargoyles seen and I spot Gold dusted palm prints. I'll wager here is where our likely targets are hiding." Hootie is ready to find a suitable place to attempt to hide from sight.

"Are we going through those doors?" Kirrote points at the metal doors at the back.

Once Hootie points out the gargoyles Kirrote spots them. He pulls his battleaxe from his belt.

"This is... ahhh... actually it's a bit too hard to make out. This is definitely a tomb devoted to one specific family, and these figures were once likely representing a deity, but it's all too faded to tell which one anymore."

Yangrit squints at what Ahmandé is looking at, then shrugs and grunts: "Maybe we will be able to tell from the inside. Are we ready?" Yangrit strides forward and puts her hand on the door, ready to try to open it as soon as everyone else is prepared.

Spell & AoE Templates | 4-10: Arclord's Abode

The door isn’t locked, but it does emit a grinding, sorrowful howl when pushed open. Just peering in, you don't notice anything that isn't plainly obvious.

The door opens onto a long set of stone stairs that descend along a 15-foot-wide passageway, dimly lit by flaming torches set into wall sconces. The stairs descend to a small room with marble floors before descending further.

On arriving on the "landing"... Perception checks please, open spoilers at or below your check.

Perception, DC25:
The marble slabs of the floor have been cut into two sections adorned with small, hard-to-spot hinges. The marble slabs covering the east half of this room give way to a mechanical pit trap.

Note that the eastern 15'x15' (3sq x 3qs) area entails the trap.

Perception, DC29:
You identify a small trigger in the stone wall that, if depressed, opens a panel that leads to a narrow passageway lined with small, treacherous steps.
