The festrog slobbers and snarls a bit as it still recoils from the sting of the recent positive energy burst. It bites at the nearby cleric before departing for the source of the errant arrow.
bite attack vs. Aldran, P damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

The mummy, seeming satisfied with this aggression, then shuffles off towards Ahmandé, not quit reaching him.

At last! after a short prayer to Aroden, Gratius strikes the creature attacking Hootie with his glaive.
Glaive: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 1 = 18

Then he takes a 5ft. step back.

GM PaleDim |

As soon as the grip of paralysis releases Gratius' body, he raises his glaive high and slashes it down at the festrog, cleaving it's gaunt body in two!
Very good! Now you can all focus on the mummy, but do remain incredibly careful. It is slow, and as you can see is limited to 20' per move action.
Everybody but Gratius is up!

OWWWWW! %$#@&$#@$! The string of expletives that would have fallen from Yangrits mouth if she could talk would be enough to make a sailor blush.
Oh well. Guess no one gets to hear her potty mouth. ;P

"There, see, we're coming back already! We have the numbers now, we can take this mummy!" He steps away, trying to keep a bit of distance between him and the mummy.

Looks like your duration should be 4 rounds, not 3, based on your level.
Ahmandé creates a slick sheen underneath the mummy, and it's lurching starts to look less threatening and more clumsy as it struggles to keep it's balance...
Reflex, DC15: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
It takes a tumble and lands on its wrapped behind.
Mummy is now prone, his AC is -4 vs. melee attacks, but it is +4 vs. ranged attacks. SO, Hootie, see my question above but we can still resolve your attack before this happens. HOWEVER, understand that the splash damage would hit Kirrote, and typically you want permission from those players to be affected by collateral damage.
The newly arrived planar bird pecks and scratches at the mummy, but it seems to get little more than bits of the wrapping.
I'm going to await Hootie's input before moving onto the mummy's turn.

Summon Monster is from a CL 3 wand purchased off of a chronicle sheet.

GM PaleDim |

Right! I'd already forgotten the wand :) ty

![]() |

I did move before throwing it as it was a ranged touch and I didn't want to get too close.

GM PaleDim |

gotcha, so then the attack roll would need some -2’s for range increments, no? It looks like 30’ on. 10’ range, so -4. That’s why I figured you wanted to get closer. Or if you’re fine with this then I’ll proceed and resolve it.

![]() |

Take the -4. I don't do too well in melee combat.

GM PaleDim |

cool, time for the resolution then. A natural 20 is an auto-hit, but the crit does not confirm.
Hootie lobs an alchemist's fire through the air, and while it seems like a long distance to do so, she places it perfectly as it lands directly onto the mummy's head, pouring down its face. A bit of it spreads to Kirrote 1 splash damage.
However, strangely it seems the fire sits atop the gold coating of the mummy, soaking no further into its rags or onto its body proper. The flames quickly subside on on that goal coated surface.
The mummy then awkwardly positions its stumpy arms on the ground to push itself up...

Slice that mummy from groin to jaw, boys! Perhaps then I may survive whatever it does to me after I thump its rump.

GM PaleDim |

Gratius thrusts his glaive through the still-diminishing cloud of eagle feathers between him and the mummy and slices into its shoulder. More corpse "material" falls to the floor from under the rags and wrapping.
You can tell it's struggling mightily to keeps its footing on the grease while bearing the hit...

GM, I like the suggestion of moving to the right but I don't think I'm in the right mind to think quite that strategically at the moment.

GM PaleDim |

that totally makes sense rp-wise. the others could think it over though.
Kirrote swings his axe and seemingly hits the same area that Gratius had torn away at, and a chunk of mummified intestine drops out. The mummy seems to look down at it and frown sadly, as if it has just dropped something that was otherwise perfect beforehand.
So you've made some serious headway now, I'm start to feel much better about your chances :)

Good catch Gratius. Apologies.
The mummy caught itself at first, and then over-corrects by snapping straight up to return to its original lurch-y position. However, during the snap it loses its footing and crumbles to the floor again.
It stands up and into Gratius' thrusting glaive, which goes clean through it and comes out the other side. There is now a size-able hole through it's abdomen.
Its groaning gets more persistent as it surveys the ground around it for the best escape path from the grease next round, if it lasts.
As it's doing this, Gratius again thrusts at it with his polearm. He can still feel the solid pressure and pushback of substantial mummified, hardened corpse material, but he still manages to wrench another chunk from its midsection. A mummified lung slides along the grease.

It's looking quite rough, like it might fall apart soon. Yet, for now, it still stands.

Kirrote throws a final cleave at the mummy, tearing it in half so that the hardened parts that remain break apart and clatter to the ground. The upper portion, the head and arms, slides along in the grease until it reaches the friction of the default, stone floor.
Out of combat initiative. Excellent work team!
Yangrit immediately begins to feel her body again and the group is again whole. The room is suddenly "at peace", except that you remember the steady state is a burning building. You're suddenly more aware of the roaring of the flames from behind the eastern wall. It will not be long before it spreads to the rest of the manor...

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Shaking herself free of the paralysis (and chagrined that she couldn't do so until the mummy was dead, despite having a hunch that her efforts to fight it would have been less effective than she would have liked), Yangrit praises her team's work in defeating the mummy, grunting a curt: "Good job, everyone."
That being said, she becomes all business: "Now let us see to the west wing! Before we open the doors, we should take a deep breath of clear air and hold our breaths. Where there is fire, there is smoke." She then strides to the door and looks over her shoulder to see if everyone is ready before opening it. She is determined not to sit out the next challenge.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
"Yeah, I see it. I have no idea what it says."
Kirrote is not so interested in the paper so he moves to the door on the east side of the room. "Isn't this where the sound is coming from?"
Is it east or west?
