GM Z..D..
It is up to you if she takes acid damage while grappled. Technically:
SPECIAL ABILITIES
Protective Slime (Su)
A layer of acidic slime coats a babau's skin. Any creature that strikes a babau with a natural attack or unarmed strike takes 1d8 points of acid damage from this slime if it fails a DC 18 Reflex save. A creature that strikes a babau with a melee weapon must make a DC 18 Reflex save or the weapon takes 1d8 points of acid damage; if this damage penetrates the weapon's hardness, the weapon gains the broken condition. Ammunition that strikes a babau is automatically destroyed after it inflicts its damage.
The slime damage would be a nice bonus. But the main thing is to grapple so we know where she is, hamper her actions against us, and make it difficult to get away.

Hello there! I'll be traveling for one week. I'll try my best to post but if I'm delaying the action, please bot Voros or delay him.

If the Slime would have done damage when the demon attacked something else, than maybe. But, it calls out specifically be struck by something else.
But hey, you found her.

That's fine. GM's seem to be about 50/50 split on whether or not the slime will do damage while grappling. It's the only thing I use Babu demons for, since they are the one that has see invisible.

GM Z..D.. |

I have been forgetting the Medusa's gaze attack. But since this encounter is nearly over I am going to hand wave it.

I assumed that since she was invisible, the gaze attack doesn't actually work since we can't actually see her gaze. We would have to see it for it to be effective against us. I guess it would have worked on the little demons as they see her, but they also would have provoked AoO when trying to grapple (pretty sure they don't have improved grapple).

Gaze (Su)
A gaze special attack takes effect when foes look at the attacking creature’s eyesmeans invisibility shuts it down yes. The attack can have any sort of effect; petrification, death, and charm are common. The typical range is 30 feet, but check the creature’s entry for details. The type of saving throw for a gaze attack varies, but it is usually a Will or Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 gazing creature’s racial HD + gazing creature’s Cha modifier; the exact DC is given in the creature’s text). A successful saving throw negates the effect. A monster’s gaze attack is described in abbreviated form in its description. Each opponent within range of a gaze attack must attempt a saving throw each round at the beginning of his or her turn in the initiative ordermeans you only save if your turn *begins* within 30 feet of the creature. Only looking directly at a creature with a gaze attack leaves an opponent vulnerable. Opponents can avoid the need to make the saving throw by not looking at the creature, in one of two ways.meaning at the beginning of its turn, a creature within range can first decide to avert eyes to see if a save is even necessary
Averting Eyes: The opponent avoids looking at the creature’s face, instead looking at its body, watching its shadow, tracking it in a reflective surface, etc. Each round, the opponent has a 50% chance to avoid having to make a saving throw against the gaze attack. The creature with the gaze attack, however, gains concealment against that opponent.
Wearing a Blindfold: The foe cannot see the creature at all (also possible to achieve by turning one’s back on the creature or shutting one’s eyes). The creature with the gaze attack gains total concealment against the opponent.
A creature with a gaze attack can actively gaze as an attack action by choosing a target within range. That opponent must attempt a saving throw but can try to avoid this as described above. Thus, it is possible for an opponent to save against a creature’s gaze twice during the same round, once before the opponent’s action and once during the creature’s turn.
Gaze attacks can affect ethereal opponents. A creature is immune to gaze attacks of others of its kind unless otherwise noted. Allies of a creature with a gaze attack might be affected. All the creature’s allies are considered to be averting their eyes from the creature with the gaze attack, and have a 50% chance to not need to make a saving throw against the gaze attack each round. The creature can also veil its eyes, thus negating its gaze ability.
Format: gaze; Location: Special Attacks.

Oh, but they're tough little bastards right? :P
If I was GMing this I would have done the same and ignored it... if you have a 'Gaze' attack and go invisible, it shuts the gaze down IMO. The thing relies on the light spectrum and protons and all that jazz... :P

lol

Indeed! I found wi-fi but occasionally forget to log on as I'm on holidays. Don't hesitate to bot me :)

GM Z..D.. |

No problem Voros.
Anyway, it was a medusa, Voros vaporizes it.

![]() |

Forgot if someone channeled... can't seem to remember if someone healed up Theodric's giant hug from that gorilla... :P
If no one did, could one of you please be so kind as to wave Theodric's wand of CLW around? I'll mark off the charges afterwards. Thx!

![]() |

I will be attending CppCon (C++ developers conference) and classes starting tomorrow and going for 9 days until Sept. 22. Please bot me if needed but I will try to check into the game at least once a day.

Guys, diplomacy takes one minute to act. It's not a combat situation unless they don't attack us...
Meta gaming
Some scenarios/modules have specific things for if the PC's try to call for peace even after the fight has started. Doesn't really match the rules, but occasionally it is written in anyway.In-Character
We were sent to investigate, not just kill everything encountered. So Lavode would make the attempt.
Usually, it doesn't make much functional difference if I ready an action to cast the spell if attacked or just cast the spell immediately.

GM Z..D.. |

Just giving some background since it is already in motion.
There was a pass phrase that could have been used to avoid this one. However, the Red Raven did escape and these guys are prepped to stop anyone who comes chasing after him.
I do like seeing people trying to talk it out, but this time, it is not happening.

![]() |

Oh I didn't know that Lavode! Well, I know some GM allow it (I've allowed it myself) but I just wanted to point out the rules about it :)

![]() |

Hope you are feeling better!

![]() |

I'll be on vacation out of country and returning on the 21st. I will have internet access but don't expect a whole lot of posting while I'm away. Feel free to bot me as needed if I don't post fast enough.

![]() |

Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this game is finished or not but I'll be traveling for the next few days. I will still check in but from a cell phone. Let me know if there's any expected big post to do in the next 24 hours before I leave...

![]() |

There is more and additional parts after this in the campaign. There are four parts total and you don't get the XP until the end of the fourth one. I assumed we were going to keep playing through all of them as that is typically how I've seen people do it.

GM Z..D.. |

With Gameday wrapped up. This is my only active game that I am GMing for. So it should be updated at a more frequent pace.

![]() |

Ok cool I'll try to keep on top of things but feel free to bot me.

GM Z..D.. |

As we are nearly almost done part 1, please roll you day job checks.
Also, as this is part of the OSP, roll for a boon. On a 19 or 20, roll a d6 to determine the boon.
If you would also forward me email address, so it can be sent to you.

GM Z..D.. |

Had some free time so here are you chronicles for Part 1. For those of you who have not GM'd this scenario, at the bottom is a space for Campaign points. During the course of the series some of the choices you make impact you standing with the Decemvirate and are directly tied to the boons you recieve at the end of the adventure path. There are group awards and individual awards, so not everyone gets the same amount of points. So do you best to do what the Society stands for.

GM Z..D.. |

Yes.
You get 2 exp from part 1, and then 1 exp for each of the last three parts.
And 2 prestige points from you faction missions, since they are still a thing here.

GM Z..D.. |

After looking over the OSP reporting form, there is no way for me to pick submit you the boons. It is done by the Online venture agents.
So if everyone can PM their email addresses, that way you all have a chance to win a boon.

Assuming a night's rest between adventures like normal PFS. And I'm picking up a couple of new CLW wands to keep Kali and me healed up.

@GM Z..D..: what is the level range for the other parts of this adventure? is it intended to be played entirely at level 12 or is it ok to level up between parts? thanks!

![]() |

@GM Z..D..: what is the level range for the other parts of this adventure? is it intended to be played entirely at level 12 or is it ok to level up between parts? thanks!
I had to read up on that myself. I though we got all the XP at the end and we would do this all at 12, but what happens is that we level up after this next part to 13 and then get 1xp each for the last two parts.
So XP wise to be more clear, we get: 2, 1, 1, 1 for the four parts. We'll end at level 13.2 (38XP).
Prestige was also weird in that we get: 2, 2, 2, 2 or more. The or more seemed to really vary depending on how we do, I didn't want to look into in further as to not spoil anything.
The funny part is that I built this character to reach level 12, that's it. I never expected it to go any higher so I made some build choices that were less than optimal thinking I wouldn't ever have the opportunity to do anything beyond. Some of those limitation are now coming back to me. I also hadn't played this character for 3 years, so it is a bit of a challenge to remember all of the options.
