@All: Just a wee heads up that I'm off down to Edinburgh (Auld Reekie) tomorrow for a couple of days catching up with an old buddy.
Back Friday but likely (a little) worse for wear. Anticipate normal service will resume o'er the weekend.
Please bot me (if required) as necessary :)

Hello everyone!
Once again, thank you very, very much for your patience. All of it.
Just had my last day at my last job, and I'm starting the new one just before Helloween. Giving me ample time to get back to this and my other games.
I'm visiting my family for the weekend, but I'll get you a big summary post on Monday.
Cheers!

Azil |

Don't wanna necro the recruitment thread, but been reading your gameplay thread and wanted to ask if ya'll were looking for any infiltrator style character. Probs not since it looks like your full up with six, but hey don't hurt to ask none. I'd be new to the system, but once i get my teeth in i gotta tear some tome, and you guys seem to be one of the like... 2 Shadowrun games here on Paizo that i've found.

Road-Rage |

Hey Azil - guess it would be GMCP's call, but from my perspective, the more the merrier :)
If you're mulling a Rigger style pitch with drones etc (over a ninja-stealth) then I'd use the opportunity to shift my emphasis o'er to just a wheelman (or extra muscle for the group in a street-sam).
I'm also a newbie to the system, so you'd be in good (bad?) company lol.

Azil |

Thanks R-R, i've been looking at maybe a technomancer, assuming you are playing 5e. But I've got access to both the 5e and 6e books. By what i see your party break down is 2street sams, a spellcaster, a rigger, decker, and face. I could also be reading the character's wrong lol, is there a way to do a sort of support to Rigger and Decker? I can at least look while GMCP has a think on if they want another digital meatsack at the table.

"Sybil" |

I think that the GM has some special hate for the technomancers, so I wouldn't know, he-hee. I wouldn't mind an additional Matrix presence, if you take some time to tell me what you can do and how we synergize (I'm still new to all of this). Another possibility could be a Hermetic magician, I think? We have one shaman, but I don't know basically anything about their differences, strengths and weaknesses.

Road-Rage |

@Azil: Out of curiosity what's your take on 5E vs 6E? I'm liking the setting as a new player but damn the system is dice/mod heavy.
Does 6E lean it out at all?

It looks like 6th streamlines things a bit (removes a few rolls), but it also apparently has suffered a major proof-reading/editing problem

Azil |

Question, How crippling is a registered SIN? I've heard some horror stories about people grabbing one for those sweet sweet karma points only to be really screwed when it comes time to run. The reason I ask is i'm thinking of something along the lines of.
Technomancer who was hired by a business way under a corp, who finally said NOPE i'm out I'm tired of sitting at this damn desk/terminal/pod? as a wageslave. Burned a few favors(which lead to those people being no longer being alive in the end) and got out and saw that they couldn't really just make money by sitting around anymore and decided to turn to running.

SINner is a problem when it becomes one. Kinda like all the negative qualities. Some GMs really hammer home on them and punish you for those decisions, others let it slide.
I've see some tables flip on SINners in the past, since the pc is an inherent risk and typically anti-Corp sentiment is rife. It's especially bad if you're a rich kid type who's runningnfor jollies.
For a techno, if they're a SINner before they Emerge, that might be enough tongue them to renounce corp citizenship and run for the hills. In that case Wanted might be a good accompaniment since those Corp resources are gonna come looking for their runaway.

Having seen edition after edition all fail to surrender to any streamlining of noteworthiness, I've given up hope that the SR system will -ever- be trimmed.
At this point I wonder why they even bother putting out another edition. You'd think after so many (6!!) they'd have gotten it where they want it by now. =/

R-R has a registered SIN as a former con. So far... its not been a massive disadvantage but it does mean he's easier to track and could compromise his passengers fellow runners...
Makes for a cool RP hook and if the past comes knockin' we can send them packin' ;)

Hey everyone!
Post-work hit me hard and unexpected, but I'll not be dishonest and not say that I kind of put my PbP on my backburner for a week. But now I'm here!
@Azil! Hey! Welcome, and thanks for your interest. For Shadowrun, I've always been a firm believer in the 'play what you want and hope your plans/fixer are good' school of thinking. There's SR for Snow White and the Seven Chromed Trolls, and SR for Ocean's Eleven and anything in between. Different teams do different jobs, after all.
To be perfectly, brutally honest, I think we could've played without a Matrix runner at all, but there's one now, and I've freshened myself on the rules, and will again.
So, if you want to join in:
First - gimme a character pitch in the form of a backstory (and ideally, an IC snippet), then if I like it - I'll let you know how to build a character.
@Regarding 6E and Shadowrun bloat - You're all so right, yet despite all of that, I love the 'crunch' of the system. I just don't feel it'd be Shadowrun if you're not considering the difference between that assault rifle and that other assault rifle.
I've not had a chance to check out 6e, since I've barely had any time to post since it came out, but I managed to catch wind of it being a little dodgy. I'm generally against us changing systems, since I'd need to learn another one, everyone will need to re-build a character, and will destroy months of meticulous effort crafting NPCs take some time for me to gain enough understanding of the system, what's dangerous, etc, to make the enemies just the right amount of challenging.

Heya thanks for the feedback CP, gonna be a bit work just shifted into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE and we're doing 13 days of 12 hour shifts followed by 1 day off supposedly until the end of the year. So i havent gotten a chance to type any bg post. I've got most of my details(stats n such) all worked out, i hope. Just have not had the time to get to my computer. If not a techno, i may toss on another caster, seems ya have quite a few meatspace cyborgs.

GM Captain Placeholder |

Don't sweat it, guys!
Azil, the team is in a job at the minute, so no rush there. Take your time, especially with that schedule!
Nomad and Sybil, sure - I'm trying to move it in such a way to give you plenty of chance to be flexible in your approach. And also, re-re-rereading the Matrix rules.

Alex "Glass" Scott |

I'm holding off on an answer as the question was put to Sunset, but if there's nothing in a couple of days, I'll tag in

Road-Rage |

Perfect - with you covering drone rigging R-R can drop that altogether, concentrate on being a wheelman :)
Pilot: Aircraft no longer required - Sayōnara
5k Drone I'll never use: Adios :)

GM Captain Placeholder |

Heh.
I guess I'll have to do even more Matrix now, which is fine by me, but I have to remember to stress the actual mechanics alongside the fluff parts of the virtual reality!

So i'm snagging gear(holy crap they have alot) and also figuring where to spend my karma. How exactly does buying skill ranks with karma at CC work i've read it over what feels like dozens of times and it just isnt sticking.
Also GMPC i'm looking at picking up a quality that says to discuss with your GM, should I send a Pm with the quality and some details?

Buying skills at CharGen:
If you spend your build points as supplied by your priority choice, then they cost 1 Skill Rank per Build Point. To wit: Pistols 6 costs 6 BP. Specializations cost 1 additional.
If you're spending Karma, the base cost is 2*Desired Rank in karma. 1 Rank = 2 Karma, 2 Ranks = 4 Karma. Etc.
Those cost are accumulative, so the same Pistols 6 spending Karma would cost you 2+4+6+8+10+12 = 42 Karma total.
Specializations cost 7 Karma, flat, and cannot be added to skill groups or any skill that has either no ranks or a Specialization already.

Nomad was right about post CC costs and specialisations.
Shoot me a PM regarding what you are thinking about the quality, and also about your concept in general so we can work it in!

Right on thanks Nomad, i'll get to the PM when i get home later, it'll be nothing but typos if i do it on my phone XD.

Hey guys!
I know Thanksgiving is around the corner for at least half of us, so I'll give it until after it's finished (right after when I google exactly when it is), and afterwards I'll move the action ahead. So far, you've confirmed that there is, indeed, plenty of loot at those places, and as soon as Sybil gets some (pay)data or gets mind-fried by GOD, we'll go ahead to a final plan summary post and get on to the lootin', shootin', and bootin'.

Road-Rage |

Fellow Runners - just a heads up that recently got the awful news that our beloved 9 year old rescue staffy, Darby, has an aggressive brain tumour and only 4-6 weeks left with us.
Our red boy is the epicentre of our lives and this has pretty much shocked us to the core. We're brokenhearted and if over the next few days and weeks my posting suffers please bear with and bot me as necessary.

That's understandable. Much sympathy R-R. Think of the good times, rescues can be hard work, but very much worth the effort for what you get back.

Azil |

Hey GMPlaceholder how much would(and what kind of modification), would it be to put a cab extension/cover on the back of the Toyota Gopher? Price, Type of slot, Amount of Slots, etc?
I suppose the cab extension may fall under Increased seating, but didn't figure this was quite worth a PM and wasn't sure about the back cover. I sort of want to have the base stats of the gopher, have an extended front cabin with a extra entry/exit that leads to the bed of the truck. And have the bed of the truck have a cover so i can store my drones.

GM Captain Placeholder |

Freddy's asking for 3,500, which is mostly for getting a not-so-suspicious van on short notice from a shady dealer. Pricy, but not 'whole new second hand van' pricy, and ideally one that has a spoof chip installed.
The borrow idea could definitely work, if the run wasn't taking place in Downtown, which is a rich and overpoliced neighbourhood. Think flying traffic control drones and licence plate checkers in and out.
@Azil, Increased seating would be that exact thing, yes. I think there's a drone rack somewhere that takes care of the drones as well, which you can get to get a drone carrier.

Road-Rage |

@Azil: R-R can get 10% off the asking price of your Gopher - but I'd recommend the GMC Armadilo @ 22k (less 10% = 19,800¥).
The Armadillo is a interchangeable bed pickup from Rigger 5. Give your drone monger some flexibility.
Rigger 5 also gives you breakdown on Drone Racks
A drone rack is an indispensable tool for a rigger who relies on drones to accomplish critical tasks for their team. Drone racks consist of a metal framework or harness designed to allow for quick and easy deployment of a drone in an in- stant, turning a vehicle equipped with several of them into a powerful, multipurpose drone carrier. Any drone carried in any kind of drone rack can be deployed by spending a Complex Action, or Simple Action if it is wireless enabled. Each drone rack can carry a single drone of a maximum size depending on the size of the rack. Additionally, each drone rack can be standard or landing type.
All standard drone racks deploy drones as above but require a manual process to re-embark the drone. This involves physically putting the drone back into the rack, a process that takes about one minute per drone.
Landing drone racks have a mechanic or electro- magnetic grapple system that can automatically re-em- bark a drone that is directly beneath or adjacent to them with a Complex Action. This can even be done while the the vehicle is in motion, as long as the target drone can match the vehicle’s speed.
Micro drone racks can hold up to ten micro drones, mini drone racks can carry a drone of up to Mini size, small drone racks can carry up to a Small drone, medi- um drone racks can carry up to a Medium drone, and large drone racks can carry (you guessed it) up to a Large drone.
Let me know if you need pricing/built info

@R-R
Thanks for the advice chummer, but i already used rigger 5. It doesnt list micro racks, but there's an errata they are like 500 for a landing one. My gopher has several racks, i was asking more about cosmetic changes to the bed while retaining the gopher stats. But i may swap to the armadillo, i'll compare statistics and decide when i throw my alias together. But i've already thrown a 95% finalized version at GM placeholder. Actually used yours as a template, for the paizo site write up, since i'm a scrub who can't get chummer 5 to work, and also cause we're gonna be Rigger bros

Horatio "Nomad" Atticus |

TBH, the Gopher is the better vehicle, if you can add in the extra seating mod from R5.
Better On&Off Road Handling, 1 more armor, and older, thus more inconspicuous. All for like 2500 extra ¥?
Add in the rigger mods, and conceivably that's a 7/7, Spd 5, Armor 14 beast that sits 6 and has a bed for all kinds of shenanigans.

Road-Rage |

As a Scotsman its in-built into my genetics to go for the cheaper option lol.
No worries :)

Ok so here's the first ever post for this alias, still need to fill some stuff but ye.
R-R if it looks similar, it's cause I used yours as a basis, since we're both riggers i figure this'll be easiest for the DM to read as well as be able to continually keep track of.

To: Everyone
Around Christmastime I came down with multiple viruses that left me able to only do two things: 1) Cough, and 2) wish I wasn't coughing.
They also had a pretty good symbiosis worthy of a Magic counter-burn deck: The headache from the cold wasn't that bad...except when I coughed.
I can finally start to see the beginning of the end from here so I thank all of you for your patience and promise to start getting caught up soon.

Folks - just wanted to share that yesterday we had to say goodbye to my beautiful red staffy Darby. His passing was very peaceful and he's now free from the burdens his tumour inflicted upon him.
To say my wife and i are broken is an understatement - Darbs was, is and always will be, the epicentre of our lives.
Over the coming days, weeks and months we will heal and come to celebrate his life, but right now things are pretty raw. I may throw myself into distractions and my passions, so posting may be up, but likewise things may take a back seat - should that become the case please bot me when/where necessary.
Cheers

Oh, god... Bing bong...
Hello guys! I know I've been gone without notice around the holidays, but after getting out of the sarariman job I had my RL Shadowrun comparisons somewhat disappeared, for better or worse.
Looking back, I curse past me for deciding to find a reason to split the party, but the genie's out of the bottle now. I'll get a post either tomorrow or on Monday, and hopefully we'll get to introducing Azil soon.
