Hello GM! I'm soon switching wageslavery for something more fun too, so I know how you feel. When you are ready, we're ready to go nova.

Road-Rage |

Just a heads up gang that myself and my better half are heading over to UAE tomorrow for 3 weeks. My sister in law graciously paid for the ticket to allow us some time to relax, process the loss of our beloved boy and maybe heal a little.
I anticipate that by the weekend (and the weeks to come) I'll have plenty of time to post, but first few days I'll likely be off the grid as we catch up and fall into a routine.
If you could bot Road-Rage as/where necessary and I'll endeavour to get my head back in the game (literally) come time.
Appreciate the patience and understanding shown by you all.
Cheers
BD/Gary

GM Captain Placeholder |

I'm really sorry to hear that, RR, take all the time you need.
I'll try and move to a post every 2-3 days from now on when in combat until everyone's here on the schedule. I'll get one tomorrow, if people haven't moved, and push on with the situation (and the initiative.)

Does my profile and equipment look all good, I wanna make sure things aren't funky before joining in.

GM Captain Placeholder |

@Sweeper - all seems in order here, now that I've given it a closer look. I also noticed you don't have any F rating gear, so that's pretty nifty for you. We got a run to finish, and then you get to join the party! what's left of it, at least.

![]() |

@GMPH is.. is not having any F rated gear good? I mean the boy isnt a runner quite yet after all.

GM Captain Placeholder |

Libertarians fought for the right to recreational machine guns and grenades.
And, yeah, you'd be able to pass some checks on your higher quality fake SIN, with lesser risk of it being 'burned', whereas people with Forbidden tech need to pass said checks on cheaper fake SINs, and those IDs are busted when they're caught with them.

![]() |

Those are classified as necessary construction and rapid pacification equipment,... yes... totally what they are.

"Sybil" |

An explanation and an apology are both needed and overdue.
Recently, I've begun to feel out of phase with all PbP RPGs that I've been playing, either as a GM or a player. If any of you were in my games, you know that I've entered a hiatus of undefined length, thinking it was GM burnout. Apparently, it was not only that. Despite my life stabilizing in a new routine as I started my PhD, something has changed in my mind, and playing has become to feel more and more as a chore and less of a pleasure. It's not the stories, the GMs or the other players, I've been enjoying immensely the games until now: I think I've just saturated myself with PbP, with reading and reacting, and with the engagement every day. I've tried to soldier on, hoping it was just a phase, but in the end I can't force myself to play against my will.
I honestly don't know if and when I'll be coming back, I just know that I don't feel like I can give a meaningful contribution in this state of mind. It's very frustrating, given how much care I put into Sybil. At least you have someone other who can take care of the Matrix. Perhaps Azil can play her until his character is introduced? And for later, maybe she'll have to go treat her hot-sim addiction. Or maybe she'll look for ways to ascend as an AI.
If/when I feel more like the player I was, I hope that you'll be here to come back to, but if it doesn't happen I'd like you to know that it's been a pleasure to play with you all.
Merry gaming, may your rolls be high and your loot be plentiful.

Burnout is a right sod, and self-care is important. this game is ticking along very slowly, so you might not miss much by the time you come back :)

Road-Rage |

Just a heads up that I'm travelling back to UK from Dubai, so it'll likely be tomorrow before I'm posting again.
Appreciate the patience :)

Road-Rage |

@Sybil: Sorry to see you go, appreciate the heavy lifting you've done on the Matrix side of things. Be well and take care - when you do come back please seek us out :)
Cheers

Hey Sybil, sorry to see you go. I've been struggling with burnout myself, and that's something normal. (I think.) I've had a lot of joy playing with you, and I'd love to see you in the future. If not, then all the best for your future endeavours, and know there's always a place on this table for you!
@Azil, you're still sticking around, I hope, and I'll try and get to you as quickly as possible.

Azil |

Yeah, burnout is pretty common and folks recover from it at different rates. I had like two weeks that i couldn't post anything for any of my games... well nothing longer than like 2 sentences. But yeah i'm still here, forewarning i'll be absent for the final week of april and the first of may at a convention.

Road-Rage |

Double Bump.
Not sure where we're at - waiting on those with initiative action? Or are we dead in the water??

Azil |

X2 means you can have 2 rounds of actions
Merc Rigger 22
Wraith 18 x2
Nomad 11
Security Slave 11
Sunset 21 [i]x2
Spirit of Man 16
R-R 15
Mages 11
Glass 9
Was the latest post, so i think either it goes Wraith, Sunset(resolving actions from the previous round) and then follow init as normal starting from the merc rigger

Road-Rage |

Yeah pretty sure that's the running order. Not sure where we're at as a game tho'...

GM Captain Placeholder |

Merc Rigger's marked as his turn completed, that's why I gave Wraith two actions. They did... things. Unbolded is inactive.
Game-wise, though, I'm not sure. I'm definitely willing to continue, but the combat is bound to take a lot of time now, and while I can easily bot a couple of people, with all the rolls I'm rolling already, it kinda starts to feel like a fair bit of work. I'm still convinced I can commit to three posts a week, (especially if I end up working from home), but I can only post if you guys do the same.
About the maps, if and when we get to another map, I can start putting them onto Google Sheets to avoid apes distracting people. ^^ (And also, to give you tokens to move around.)

Alex "Glass" Scott |

I'm up for continuing if possible, but having said that, I'm going to be away Tuesday to Friday next week (5th wedding anniversary). Unless the UK goes into lockdown...
Barring things turning nasty(er), Glass is going to use a point of edge trying to banish the spirit, if we get to my turn while I'm AFK

Road-Rage |

Ditto - am now working from home until 01-04, so the upside is I'll be able to post more frequently.
Am game to continue - but am also happy to reconfigure R-R with an even more martial bent if necessary.

![]() |

I think i'm good to jump in with sweeper still, he's built pretty aerial rigger/anti hack rigger. So I could pass as a low-power decker if i got the equipment, but it won't be anywhere as good as a full decker only having 4 E.WF. Then again I also remember GM saying they didnt wanna dive Full into the matrix, so we may not need a full time decker?

Shugyosha / Suki |

I was advised to poke my head in here on speculation that I might be useful to y'all. While this version of Shu is 3e, if needed I can pretty quickly convert -- okay, rebuild -- her in 5e. For what it's worth, I'm a long-time SR mook. ;)

GM Captain Placeholder |

Heya!
While I appreciate the interest, we're currently running with 7 people out of the intended 5. (As I couldn't help myself) We're in a bit of a lull with us nor being sure how to proceed, and with all the craziness in the OG Fifth World.
So, if we need any people in the future, and none of the other applicants in the recruitment thread, whom I promised to keep an eye out for, reply - I give you a shout!
Thanks!

Road-Rage |

Apologies for any confusion GMCP - t'was I who gave the heads up to Shu as I wasn't sure who we still had onboard.

(Wow, then again I already have a 5e version.)
Not a problem -- I'm more than kosher to lurk and watch. (Or kibbitz, if that's allowed. Also good for PMs, as I GM 5e as well.)

Road-Rage |

I would but its Sun up next in Ye Olde Magic Shoppe... Happy to skip the queue if needbe... :)

Basically, a summary of how I'm doing the initiative for the people with a lot of passes:
Most of the Team, bar Sunset and Wraith get 2 passes, or rarely, 1. For the third one, to avoid unusual downtime, I pass the last actions of the previous round in the first pass of the next round.
So if you had 12 initiative at the end of round 2, and you're the only one acting on 2, you get to act twice at the start of round 3. Since you missed your action, you can fire at the drones - but at the time you're able to take that action, the Rigger's staying in full cover behind a crate, so you can't fire at him.
As the last action at pass 3, the rigger popped out of cover, and fired a wide full burst (10 rounds) rather than a wide long burst (5 rounds), giving him a penalty from recoil and you a penalty to dodge. As you were already out of initiative, you can't use the gymnastics to dodge.
If you want to use edge, you can probably use it to re-roll my s$#%ty soak roll, though, as I did roll bad on that.
@Everyone else, Wraith's point on Imgur is fair on multiple levels, so I'll get a google sheet for that, so you can move your characters as well.

![]() |

Ha ha. Now I'm totally lost. ^_^
As a start :: "Wraith 18 x2"
Your information about how you do initiative seems great! Mind you, since I'm posting quickly (currently) it looks like we might not need that right now. Also, it seems like I may need that action. ^_^
You said I could shoot at the drones as my '18' action, and I have done so. Then I dodged the Suppression Fire without needing a Dodge action, so I was still at 8 when I was shot at. So it still seems to me like I can burn 5 Initiative to do a Dodge? And then shoot more?
Does any of this make sense? o.O
(Also, apparently Shadowrun doesn't let you be behind cover unless you take a Simple Action "Take Cover" action. Go figure!)

GM Captain Placeholder |

You gotta run for cover!
Basically - In IP 2 of 3, you dodged the suppressive fire from the drones, leaving you at 8. Nomad, at 1, fired a shot at the drones, while the Rigger with his initiative of 12, opened the door and took cover, as his first action for the round. Round ended, bringing everyone's initiative down by 10.
In IP 3 of 3, as the Rigger was the only one who could act - as you were at -2 at this point. At which point, he popped out of cover, and fired at the obviously large threat!
As nothing was visible at Initiative 18, I can say you decided to take the Overwatch action, and have a shot at one of the drones without the benefit of the aim action. (That drone'd probably be down, they're busted up already!)
This guy oughta be taken care of in a round or two, somehow, and there'll be a Google Sheet for the next fight I'm working on right now.

![]() |

Ha! Now I'm still confused, but now I know why I'm confused!
"you dodged the suppressive fire from the drones, leaving you at 8."
Ah, Genie, I never did wish to get out of that cave. Erm, ah, I mean since I didn't add my Gymnastics to that dodge roll, that was just the standard roll that everyone gets. Therefore I didn't use initiative for that roll, therefore I still had an action left, therefore I get to use that roll as therefore I still had an action in IP 3.

GM Captain Placeholder |

Ugh. I should watch how I phrase things. Late night here. Hope this explains it better. On the bright side, I have more ideas, and with quarantine about, all my (decreased) spare time's spent on PbP.
Start of Round
IP 1
Rigger 22 - Does stuff
Wraith 18 - Gets an extra pass due to previous round's initiative. Didn't act, so take an Overwatch? Nothing else to do with your spare action, except maybe toss a box in the van?
IP 2
Rigger 12 - Opens Door, Orders Drones, Runs to cover.
Wraith 8 - Dodges Suppressive Fire, Returns fire (and do add that overwatch at the drones.)
IP 3
Rigger 2 - Pops out of cover, fires at Wraith.

![]() |

Okay, okay, alright. We got it down here.
Mind you, it looks like there isn't an Overwatch action, but there is a Delay Initiative. With "Nothing else to do" that is what I would have done, so it looks like this:
IP 1
Wraith 18- Delays
IP 2
Rigger 12 - Opens Door, Orders Drones, Runs to cover.
Wraith (18, Delayed to 11) - Dodges Suppressive Fire, Returns fire at drones.
IP 3
Rigger 2 - Pops out of cover, fires at Wraith.
Wraith 1 - Fires at Rigger.
Okay. That seems fine. You are correct in that I would not have had enough Initiative to try to Dodge, and with that crap of a roll >.< I wouldn't Edge a losing dodge GREAT JABBA THE HUTT WHY COULND'T THEY THINK OF A DIFFERENT WORD TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE -5 DODGE AND THE NORMAL ROLL YOU GET TO AVOID A RANGED ATACK?!?!?.
Hence, I owe you an Edge'd soak roll.
Party on. =)

Road-Rage |

Wee heads up gang - our management in their infinite wisdom are pressing ahead with an ISO audit (via Skype) which I'm heavily involved with due to my Ops Super role.
Been prepping all day today and audit is tomorrow - will likely be Friday before I'm back in the saddle again. Bear with and bot R-R if/where necessary.

Road-Rage |

Nothing doin' for just over a month in the game thread folks - am hoping everyone is staying safe and well in these strange days.
Just touching base to see if we're still up and running or calling time.

GM Captain Placeholder |

Hey everyone, sorry to leave you hanging for such a long time. I may have bitten more off than I can chew with this game, and you've been a great team of runners. Thank you all for your interest and your excellent RPing, and hopefully see you around Paizo in the future.
I'm archiving the game now.
