Sorry was out of town again for the 4th and still trying to figure out why I keep setting these types of schedules for myself.
Taking another 5 ft. step back, Cerryl weights the flask in his hand before looking around at the papers in their cabinets and decides that might not be the best option. Pointing quickly at the chair he instead defaults back to his old faithful and slams a force missile into it.
Force Missile: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Angry that a chair seems to be getting the better of the party and hoping that this fight isn't too loud and bringing additional guards. Cerryl still maintains the course with another force missile being unwilling to unleash any fire based attacks with the various notes and papers around the room.
Force Missile: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

![]() |

Cerryl’s force missile delivers a final and devastating blast to the animated chair and it collapses into a pile of inanimate wood...
Combat over! Pathfinders victorious!
I’ll go back now and look at any checks you made in your search and let you know what you did, or didn’t, find. Will post a bit later this morning...

![]() |

Under a time crunch, you quickly revert back to searching 3 of the 4 cabinets...
Cerryl and Jastrokan find nothing on Zalta in the Dossier cabinet; likewise, neither do Rosie nor Toban in the Miscellaneous section...
However, Lovissa quickly finds an evidence folder on Zarta Dralneen in the Evidence cabinet...

![]() |

Rosie checks out the last cabinet we didn't search yet.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

![]() |

Jastrokan moves over to the cabinet his siblings checked out, double checking in case they missed anything.
Perception (misc.): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

![]() |

Toban follows his sister to help her check out the unstarched cabinet.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
"Well," he remarks as he searches, "I've never fought a chair before."

![]() |

"Evidence? Huh..." Lovissa gives the folder a quick look-see.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

![]() |

Looking over Lovissa's shoulder after not finding anything himself.
Linguistics (aid?): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Afterwards ever conscious of the noise they made along with time continuing to tick away. Cerryl moves back over towards the vent they entered through and motions for the rest of the group to start moving on.

My apologies; just noticed my 'Archives Map' link went to a different session map. That's fixed now...
While Jastrokan does a thorough search and finds nothing of interest in the Miscellaneous cabinet, Rosie and Toban find a dual sided prisoner receipt in the remaining cabinet:
The backside of the document would've showed you which cabinet contained the evidence, but Lovissa has already found it...
They notice that most of the front side of the receipt seems to be written in the same code they discovered earlier...
Meanwhile, Lovissa skims through the evidence she found:
The evidence that Tancred used to indict Zarta consists of a series of letters written in a halting hand that resembles the paracountess’s. Upon closer examination, however, the letters’ writing differs significantly from the note found in Zarta’s study. Lovissa thinks some of this evidence was forged to frame Zarta of espionage and inciting an insurrection with a rival house to the royal Chelish house...
Cerryl skims over the evidence as well but finds nothing new. He deduces that you have less than half an hour before your disappearance will be discovered and urges everyone back to the vent opening...

![]() |

"Got it," Lovissa announces. "She's been framed, arrested, and imprisoned. But, we know where she's been taken. ...Or, we will after I decode this. Let's go."

![]() |

Rosie hurries over to the vent and climbs up into it!
Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

![]() |

Jastrokan follows his sister!

![]() |

With the evidence and receipt in hand, the Pathfinders head back...
Rosie expertly climbs up to the vent and helps the others get up as well. She leads the way back through the vent with no problem and in 5 minutes, you are back in Zarta’s secret chamber...
Just as you enter the chamber, you hear Amara Li’s voice via the message spell, whispering, ”You’ve got about 20 minutes...I’ll delay the ambassador as long as I can...”

![]() |

Toban carefully listens to ensure no ones in Zarta's chambers or outside the door...
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

![]() |

Toban finds her chambers empty of any other people. Listening at the door, while he doesn’t here anyone close by, he can hear some faint noise occasionally coming from the east...he thinks this is from the servants going back and forth from the hallway to the ballroom...

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Lovissa and Rosie take some time to pore over the coded note. We were just decoding it at the table now, so we're posting it now.
"See this number by the Imperial Seal on the prisoner receipt? 79402910. That number matches one of the names on the other paper we found. The name... Tancred Desimire! That means that Tancred person stamped her prisoner receipt. Hmmm... Interesting."
"As for the rest of this note..."
Prisoner Receipt: 4983A
Prisoner: Zarta Dralneen
Destination: Citadel Vraid
Duration: Indefinite-remit on request
Designation: Traitor. Evidence filed locker A23
Remit to: CROSSED OUT
Imperial Seal 79402910
"Which is the number for Tancred Desimire."

Rosie peeks out the door, then creeps over to the servants hallway we went to. If it looks safe she hurries down the servant's hallway and to the kitchen door.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Lovissa tries to stay near the front of the group -- disguised as she is as a Chelish officer -- to ensure it looks like the others belong here. She keeps a careful eye out as they traverse the servants hall, then listens at the door to the kitchen before letting anyone head inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Toban follows along, trying to be unnoticed.
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 10 = 31
He stops at the kitchen door (or earlier if there's trouble) and listens for anything different from the last time they passed through.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

![]() |

Bringing up the rear of the group Cerryl doesn't spend as much time looking around as much as attempting to minimize any noise.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 4 = 11 Cant remember the cloak's benefits completely thought it was +4 on stealth rolls...if not just remove or reduce that number accordingly.

![]() |

While Jastrokan steps on a creaking floorboard, causing one of the servants to glance your way before you make it to the door, upon seeing a Chelish officer with him, the servant dismisses him and continues on her way to the ballroom...
You all make it to the kitchen entrance with no further issues...

![]() |

Lovissa opens the door and strides through the kitchen as if she is on business. She makes sure that the infamous chef in the tophat is close behind her. Taking the same route we did last time.

![]() |

Seeing a Chelish officer followed by the top chef who’d dropped by earlier, the servants make a hole and bow reverently as you pass...
You make it through the door and outside, to the steps on the south end of the garden...

![]() |

Rosie tries to sneak through the garden, using the bushes as cover and hiding in shadows! I marked the path I want to take on the map in yellow.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 10 = 34

![]() |

Jastrokan gives Rosie a few seconds, then follows her, trying to be as quiet as she is!
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Oh, no! I use my eternal hope ability for the day to reroll that stealth check.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

![]() |

As he passes through the kitchens, Toban takes a moment to inspect the dishes of food and expertly adds a few garnishes and final touches.
Profession Chef: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Then he leaves with a flourish, following the Chelish officer outside and into the garden. He follows Rosie and Jastrokan's lead, slipping through the shadows...
Stealth: 1d20 + 5 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 10 = 32

![]() |

After Toban adds some culinary flourish to the desserts, Rosie, Jastrokan, and the chef stealthily make their way through the garden without drawing any notice at all, and await Lovissa and Cerryl...

![]() |

Lovissa strides through the garden. She tries to be quiet, but doesn't slink around suspiciously. If she's seen she wants people to think she's passing through on business...

Lovissa and Cerryl both make it across without arousing suspicion...
Jastrokan sees a break in traffic where he thinks two of his companions can sneak through...

![]() |

Rosie sneaks!
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 10 = 24

![]() |

After his sister goes, Jastrokan sneaks off after her, leaving the others to find their own gap!
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Does that get us up to the door before the curtain hall, or also through the curtain hall?

![]() |

That gets you all the way back, dude! Great job, you two!
Rosie and Jastrokan time it perfectly and make their way through the servant's hallway unseen, back into the waiting room...
As they enter, all of you hear a whispered message from Amara Li's spell, "I can only hold the ambassador off for about 10 minutes, maybe less..."

![]() |

Waiting to follow along behind Lovissa considering how well her officer disguise is working Cerryl attempts to make it down the hallway.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 5 = 17

Lovissa waits for an opening... then strides down the hallway with quiet purpose.

![]() |

Lovissa picks just the right moment to move and, with Cerryl in tow, both make it back to the waiting room with no problems...

![]() |

When she's in the room she drops her disguise and removes her hat, stuffing it into her bag. She also double checks that no one has anything they picked up in the embassy in view. Noticing some of us are bloody and dirty, Lovissa gestures for the others to quickly magically clean us if they can.
Prestidigitation, anyone?
Finally, she makes sure the papers they need to hand over are clutched in hand as if they were of the utmost importance. ...And that they're not dirty or bloodstained on the outside.

![]() |

Rosie shakes her head 'no' at Lovissa. But she waits for Jastrokan to clean her.
I gave up my spell-like abilities for something else. So not me!

![]() |

Jastrokan waves his brush around in the air and paints everyone clean and whole!
Prestidigitation!

![]() |

Mouthing to Jasktrokan Thanks. Cerryl quickly takes off his new cloak and stuffs it into his backpack before making sure they had the intel they are supposed to give to the new ambassador.
