Looking around the ship and at the fallen pirates.
If you can sail this boat it would be best to meet her as she expects...especially if she is going to scuttle the Titan regardless...but how much help are you going to need to get us there safely Toban?
Pausing a little more.
And going to need to find a way to keep this one under control if we are going to fight Alejia...dont want him to get other ideas when we are distracted.
Lovissa Halenbane
|
Yeah, how much crew do we need to sail this thing?
GM Otha
|
The scenario is not that specific...it only mentions that either someone in the party needs Profession (Sailor) or that you could hire someone in Riddleport. Since Toban has the sailor experience, y'all should be good to go...after all, Mumbuckle sailed it with just four crewmembers...
Mumbuckle stammers. "I'll tell you where to go...but only if you set me free afterwards. I'll not go with you; I'll not face Alejia...you make me do that, you can just kill me now..."
Lovissa Halenbane
|
"I accept your terms, Mumbuckle. Now speak! Tell us about the rendezvous. Where is it happening, and do you need to do anything to signal her?"
GM Otha
|
Mumbuckle nods to Lovissa. "Parlay...we have an accord. You won't be meeting on the open sea as we were to dock and rendezvous at Viper Cove; there are no secret signals as she'll not expect anyone other than me to be piloting the Lionfish. There's a map and other details of her plan in my quarters in the aft hold that will confirm what I've told you. The ship is yours..."
And with that, Mumbuckle bows curtly and then dives over the side of the boat and into the bay...
Lovissa Halenbane
|
Lovissa claps her fellows on the back. "Come on. One of use needs to return the skiff to the fisherman, and the rest can figure out how to get this ship sailing." She thinks a moment. "Viper's Cove... Let's give these maps and plans a look-see."
Jastrokan Tangletop
|
Jastrokan checks out the maps and plans.
Rosie Tangletop
|
Rosie decides she wants stay with her brothers, so she helps check out the maps and prepare the ship.
Toban Tangletop
|
Toban taps his lip. POP! POP! POP!
"Let's do this!" Toban gives directions and helps prepare the ship for travel.
Profession Sailor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
"Hmmm... Actually... I think it's like this..." Toban chuckles. "It's been a while, you see..."
Profession Sailor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Toban also heals everyone with his wand.
Healing Lovissa: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Healing Lovissa: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Lovissa's at full.
Healing Toban: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Healing Toban: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Healing Toban: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Toban's at full.
Healing Cerryl: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Cerryl's at full.
GM Otha
|
Toban, you need not worry about a Profession Sailor check; all you need to pilot the ship is any training in the Profession (Sailor) skill and I'll say your Breadth of Experience feat covers that...
In the captain's quarters you find the nautical charts that Alejia entrusted Mumbuckle with, which plot the planned coordinates of the Topaz Titan along with the location of Viper Cove. Several notes to Mumbuckle from Alejia, delivered via carrier raven, inform you that Alejia has boarded the Topaz Titan at Kalsgard and that the Liorifish is to meet her at sundown on Moonday (tomorrow) at Viper Cove.
Toban's already healed you all up; you'll need to leave first thing in the morning to get to Viper Cove at the required time. So you have time to rest and make any purchases if needed. I'll move us forward in the morning...
Cerryl Grey
|
Taking a moment Cerryl writes up a brief summary of what has occurred so far and looks for a runner in the morning before they leave port to send back to headquarters...other than that he attempts to think of anything useful for the trip that can be bought quickly in port.
GM Otha
|
You return the fisherman's boat and get a good night's sleep. In the morning, with his loyal Pathfinder crew manning the boat, Toban follows the nautical charts flawlessly, sailing the Lionfish to Viper Cove without incident.
The only landing point on the rocky islet called Viper Cove seems to be through a cavern entrance that leads to a shallow cove concealed withing the island itself. The walls of the cavern are lined intermittently with torch-adorned sconces and another ship is already moored on the northeastern side of the embankment...Topaz Titan is emblazoned across its hull in orange letters that shine brilliantly even in the limited light. On the eastern side of the large cavern, two exits lead further into the cave complex.
Lovissa Halenbane
|
Lovissa keeps her shortbow in hand and remains focused on the Topaz Titan as Toban and the others steer the Lionfish into dock.
She's prepared to shoot at any enemies she might see, if they appear hostile.
Cerryl Grey
|
Standing opposite Lovissa, Cerryl takes a moment to check that his wand of sleep is ready in the wrist sheathe before readying his crossbow and looking to see if there is any movement on the Titan.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Anyone need Mage Armor before heading into this fight?
GM Otha
|
Toban expertly docks the Lionfish alongside the Topaz Titan. As Lovissa has her shortbow ready to fire at the first sign of any pirates, neither she nor Cerryl see any movement aboard the other ship...
The Pathfinders warily disembark the boat once docking is complete...
Jastrokan Tangletop
|
Jastrokan nods. "Sure I'll take a mage armour. Thanks."
He follows the others off the dock.
Rosie Tangletop
|
Rosie smiles at Cerryl. "I would like that! Thanks."
Rosies peeks up at the Topaz Titan
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Then she peeks down the first tunnel.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The she peeks down the last tunnel.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Toban Tangletop
|
Toban holds up a hand to the others. "Let's check the Topaz Titan for survivors or prisoners before heading into the caves."
He approaches the Topaz Titan and heads aboard.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
GM Otha
|
Rosie doesn't see much down either tunnel and sees no movement at all on the Topaz Titan...
Toban boards the Topaz Titan to make sure, but he doesn't find anyone aboard, either above or below deck...
Cerryl Grey
|
Sadly only have one Mage Armor ready...guessing will give to you Rosie since you seem to be more towards the front than your brother.
After completing that Cerryl will wait for Lovissa and Toban to lead the way further into the caves.
Jastrokan Tangletop
|
Jastrokan pulls out two paintbrushes and holds on in each hand, holding them both at once! He's ready to double paint!
Then he follows whoever decides to lead the way.
Rosie Tangletop
|
Rosie also follows Lovissa.
She is posting soon.
Lovissa Halenbane
|
Lovissa casts lead blades on herself and leads the way down the first tunnel.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
GM Otha
|
Lovissa confidently takes the lead as she enters the near tunnel...
The chamber resembles a pit more than anything else, and bones of various kinds of animals-including humanoids-litter the floor near the cages. Several sconces with burning torches adorn the walls, and two empty cages stand at the eastern side of the room.
Lovissa hears growls upon entry and soon sees what the cages used to contain...three mongrels, near the cages, growl menacingly at the Ulfen woman and she can clearly see all three foaming at the mouth...

Toban leads the intrepid group of Pathfinders into the western cavern...
Three sets of wooden stocks hang from the northern wall of this room, pitons chaining the devices to the rock. Light flicekrs into the room from the water out in the cavern's main to west, and small holed in the deiling act as skylights, ensuring that the room needs no torches to light it during the day. Several natural stone columns break up the center of the cavern, sending shafts of shadow across the dimly lit chamber...
Before Toban has even time to take in all the cavern, three crossbow bolts come singing his way...
Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
...but only the small bolt from Alejia's hand crossbow strikes the gnome, grazing his arm in passing...
Alejia smirks at the Pathfinders as they see her standing next to a bound man...one you assume to be a Cyphermage. "My, my, what have we here? I knew you couldn't be Mumbuckle as my dogs would never have raised such a ruckus over him. You must've been sent by that pompous phony, Elias Tammerhawk...but you'll not take me alive...in fact, I think you'll let me go..."

You're correct on all counts, Toban
Toban moves boldly and quickly forward to get in position to keep Alejia from killing her hostage...
