Special Abilities:

------------------------------
SPECIAL ABILITIES
------------------------------
Mental Focus - 8+2+2=12
Conjuration - MF - 3 invested - +1 CL conjuration spells measured in rounds/lv
Divination - MF - 5 invested - grants +2 Perception, low-light vision, darkvision
Transmutation - MF - 4 invested - grants +2 Strength

Resonant Powers
- Casting Focus (Su): The implement empowers the bearer’s ties to the worlds beyond, allowing his spells to maintain their power for a longer period of time. The bearer can add the implement as an additional focus component to any conjuration spell he casts that has a duration measured in rounds per level. If he does so, he adds 1 to his caster level for every 2 points of mental focus stored in the implement (to a maximum bonus equal to your occultist level). This increase applies only when determining the duration of the spell. Apply this increase after other effects that adjust a spell’s duration, such as Extend Spell.
- Physical Enhancement (Su): The implement enhances its bearer’s body. When you invest mental focus in the implement, select a physical ability score. The implement grants a +2 temporary enhancement bonus to that physical ability score for every 3 points of mental focus invested in the implement (to a maximum of +2 at 1st level, plus an additional 2 for every 6 occultist levels you possess).
- Third Eye (Su): The implement allows its bearer to notice that which can’t easily be seen. The implement grants a +1 insight bonus on Perception checks per 2 points of mental focus stored in it, to a maximum bonus equal to the occultist’s level. If the occultist is 3rd level or higher and stores at least 3 points of mental focus in it, the implement also grants lowlight vision. If the occultist is 5th level or higher and stores at least 6 points of mental focus in it, the implement also grants darkvision 60 feet. (If the bearer already has darkvision, the implement increases the range of the darkvision by 30 feet.) If the occultist is 7th level or higher and stores at least 9 points of mental focus in it, the implement also grants the effects of see invisibility. If the occultist is 13th level or higher and stores at least 12 points of mental focus in it, the implement also grants blindsense 60 feet. If the occultist is 19th level or higher and stores at least 15 points of mental focus in it, the implement also grants blindsight 30 feet.

Focus Powers
- Flesh Mend (Sp): Conjuration - As a standard action, you can expend 1 point of mental focus to heal a living creature with a touch. The creature is healed an amount of damage equal to 1d8 + your occultist level. For every 4 occultist levels you possess beyond 3rd, the creature is healed an additional 1d8 points of damage, to a maximum of 5d8+19 at 19th level. This has no effect on undead creatures. You must be at least 3rd level to select this focus power.
- Legacy Weapon (Su): Transmutation - As a standard action, you can expend 1 point of mental focus and touch a weapon to grant it an enhancement bonus. The bonus is equal to 1 + 1 for every 6 occultist levels you possess (to a maximum of +4 at 18th level). Enhancement bonuses gained by this ability stack with those of the weapon, to a maximum of +5. You can also imbue the weapon with any one weapon special ability with an equivalent enhancement bonus less than or equal to your maximum bonus by reducing the granted enhancement bonus by the appropriate amount. The item must have an enhancement bonus of at least +1 (from the item itself or from legacy weapon) to gain a weapon special ability. In either case, these bonuses last for 1 minute.
- Purge Corruption (Sp): Conjuration - As a standard action, you can expend 1 point of mental focus to draw out the corruption from a creature. You must touch the target with your implement to use this power. This ability functions as either neutralize poison or remove disease, using your occultist level as the caster level. Each use of this ability can cure only one poison or one disease. You must be at least 5th level to select this focus power.
- Servitor (Sp): Conjuration - As a standard action, you can expend 1 point of mental focus to summon a servitor. This ability functions as summon monster I, but you can use it only to summon a single creature, and the effect lasts for 1 minute. At 4th level and every 3 levels thereafter, the level of the summon monster spell increases by 1, to a maximum of summon monster VII at 19th level. You can’t have more than one servitor in effect at a time. At any time, you can expend 1 point of mental focus as a free action to extend the duration of an active servitor by 1 minute.
- Sudden Insight (Sp): Divination - As a swift action, you can expend 1 point of mental focus to gain an insight into your immediate future. You can use this foreknowledge as a free action before you roll any ability check, attack roll, or skill check to gain an insight bonus on that roll equal to 1/2 your occultist level (minimum +1). You can use your foreknowledge only once per turn, and if it’s not used by the end of your turn, the insight fades and you gain no benefit.
- Sudden Speed (Sp): Divination - As a swift action, you can expend 1 point of mental focus to grant yourself a burst of speed. This increases your land speed by 30 feet for 1 minute. This ability does not stack with itself.

Aura Sight (Su): The occultist can read the auras of creatures around him as a standard action. This functions as the aura sightACG spell with a duration of 1 round.

Magic Item Skill (Ex): An occultist’s knowledge of magic items grants him a bonus when attempting to use them. He gains a bonus on all Use Magic Device checks equal to 1/2 his occultist level.

Object Reading (Su): An occultist learns how to read information from items he examines. Examining an item in this way requires him to spend 1 minute handling the item. If the item is a magic item, the occultist learns its properties and command word as if he had successfully examined the item using detect magic and succeeded at a Spellcraft check. This ability does not reveal whether the item is cursed unless the occultist’s class level is equal to or greater than the caster level of the item. If the item has any historical significance, the occultist learns one piece of information about its past (as determined by the GM). Finally, if the item was last used no longer than 1 day ago per the occultist’s class level, the occultist learns one piece of information about the last creature to use the item. This information might be a glimpse of the creature’s appearance, a brief vision of what it saw while using the item, or perhaps its emotional state when it last used the item. The GM determines what information is gained in this way. This functions like the psychometry occult skill unlock (see page 196), but doesn’t require a skill check and can be used at will.

Shift Focus (Su): An occultist gains the ability to shift his mental focus from one implement to another, though some of the focus is lost along the way. Shifting mental focus removes a number of points of mental focus from one implement and adds the same number – 1 to another implement; this takes 1 minute of quiet contemplation while touching both implements. The occultist can shift his mental focus only from one implement to another implement; he can’t shift generic focus into an implement. Unlike expending focus normally, this shift can reduce the effect of a resonant power in the implement from which the mental focus was taken. It does not, however, add to the resonant power of the implement to which the focus is added.

Background:

Being a Pathfinder ran in Lovissa’s blood. Her mother was a Pathfinder, and her mother before her. They specialized in the far north—Ulfen and Kellid history and relics. They were travellers and explorers and treasure hunters, and Lovissa grew up loving every moment of it. But her favourite part? The treasure. Every dusty relic and ancient coin; every rusty sword and battered helm… Each hid stories, and powers, and memories. They were amazing.

When she became an adult she travelled south, leaving the Lands of the Linnorm Kings behind for the first time, and eventually joining the Pathfinder Society in Absalom. And now, fresh out of her training, Lovissa’s ready to make some discoveries of her own.

Appearance and Personality:

Lovissa is a strong, and intelligent woman, with thick brown hair and a fierce smile. She cares more for the treasure and hidden wonders of the dead than she cares for the living. She’s brave, and bold, and used to exploring, but not particularly diplomatic. She’s a fount of knowledge, but much prefers fieldwork to studying tomes and treatises. When she feels like praying she gives her thanks to Gorum or Desna, but the urge strikes her rarely.

Boons:

Arnisant Mueum Patron Thanks to your work in Ridonport, your name is on display as a patron for the General Arnisant Museum and Historical Residence. In addition to gaining a permanent +1 bonus on Knowledge (history) checks regarding Taldor, you can borrow a weapon or suit of armour from the museum. After hearing the adventure briefing for a scenario, you can check one, two or all three boxes that precede this boon to secure a weapon, shield, or set of armour with a +1, +2, or +3 bonus, respectively, for the duration of the scenario. You can reduce the enhancement bonus of a borrowed weapon with a +2 or a +3 bonus by 1 in order to give the weapon the undead bane special ability. Any borrowed equipment bears inscriptions or imagery from the Shining Crusade, such as Aroden’s holy symbol or the heraldry of Taldor. This equipment is always made from common materials such as steel, leather or wood.

Confirmed Field Agent Having successfully completed and documented your Confirmation, one of the Three Masters has formally recognized you as a field agent and given you a wayfinder engraved with your name and the date of your graduation. If this is the first time you have received this boon for any of your characters, you receive this wayfinder for free.

Explore, Report, Cooperate You have an excellent sense of what makes an exemplary Pathfinder. As a free or immediate action, you may consider whether a particular action you name--such as subduing but not killing an enemy, befriending and NPC, or recovering a particular item--would help realize the goals of the Pathfinder Society. The GM then informs you whether the action's impact would be positive (contributes to meeting a secondary success condition), negative (opposes the secondary success condition), or negligible (neither contributes nor opposes). If none of these three options accurately reflects the action's impact on the PCs fulfillment of the secondary success conditions, the GM may respond with a phrase of five words or less. Once you use this boon cross it off your Chronicle sheet.

Ekujae’s Blessing - You rescued Ekujae from the forbidden caves of Dehu Inu, and the Ekujae elders granted you a ceremonial blessing. You gain the permanent benefits of endure elements but only in the heat and only to temperatures of 110 degrees F and below; you gain no bonuses in extreme cold. This is a supernatural ability.

Friend of Janira Gavix The field agent who oversaw your Confirmation is appreciative of your bravery and camaraderie in the face of danger. She helps you perform research, granting you a +1 bonus on Knowledge checks attempted while you are in the Grand Lodge.

Haunt Sense - Having encountered many different haunts during your adventuring career, you have a knack for reacting quickly and knowledgeably to their harmful effects. You may use this boon before attempting a Knowledge (religion) or Perception check to spot a haunt as it manifests to roll the skill check twice and use the higher result. In addition, you gain a +2 insight bonus on saving throws and a +2 insight bonus to AC against the haunt’s effects. When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.

House Thrune’s Favour: Your complete discretion in infiltrating the Chelish embassy has awarded you a rare token stamped with the insignia of House Thrune, signifying your favour in the eyes of House Throne. This grants you a +3 competence bonus on Diplomacy checks to influence high-standing members of House Thrune, the Cherish government, or a Hellknight Order in good standing. This bonus remains in effect as long as the token remains on your person, and the token imparts its bonus only to you.

Inside Knowledge: As a former member of the Aspis Consortium, Magali Delroya is well informed about the organization's activities, and she shares some of her information with you. You gain a +2 bonus on knowledge (local) checks about the Aspis Consortium and can roll such checks untrained. You can cross this boon off the Chronicle sheet to take 20 on a single Knowledge (local) check about the Aspis Consortium.

Kaghaze Redeemed - By destroying the altar of Camazotz, you broke the dark god’s sway over Kaghaze. The Ekujae consider you to be a stalwart ally, and they make a point of thanking you whenever you adventure in the region. Whenever you adventure in the Mwangi Expanse, Sargava, the Shackles, or the Sodden Lands, you receive a collection a collection of gifts that includes a vial of antiplague, a piece of +1 animal bane ammunition for your preferred weapon, and a healing potion. This potion is a potion of cure light wounds if you are level 4 and under, a potion of cure moderate wounds if you are between levels 5 and 8, or cure serious wounds if your level is 9 or above. If you do not use this equipment, the Ekujae ask for it back at the end of the adventure, with the promise to return it the next time you travel in the region.

Lord Avid's Recommendation: Lord Avid is impressed that you managed to complete your mission without using his writ, and he speaks highly of your discretion. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on all Charisma-based skill checks against nobility while on the Isle of Kortos. You can cross this boon off you Chronicle sheet to lean heavily upon your connection to Lord Avid. If you do so, the circumstance bonus on one such Charisma-based skill check increases to +4, and you can apply it while interacting with anyone on the Isle of Kortos. USED IT JUST NOW!

Prepared Agent You are more prepared for missions than most Pathfinders. When you attempt a Knowledge check as a part of an adventure's mission briefing, treat all Knowledge skills as trained. Once per adventure, you can add a bonus equal to half the number of goals you have completed (+1) to one Knowledge check or Diplomacy check to gather information.

Prince of Wolves Your experience with the Sczarni of the Prince's Wolves has given you insight into dealing with werewolves and other lycanthropes, and you are unfazed by their bestial natures. You receive a +1 bonus on Diplomacy and Intimidate checks against lycanthropes. Additionally, the intimidate DC for a lycanthrope to demoralize you is 2 higher than normal.

True Ally of the Lantern Lodge Amara Li recognizes your invaluable contribution in ensuring a strong alliance with the Way of the Kirin, and she promises to assist you in the future. Whenever you spend 1 Prestige Point to gain a +4 bonus on any one skill check while in Tian Xin, the bonus increases to +5. If you are in Goka, the bonus instead increases to +6. If you are a member of the Lantern lodge faction, cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet.

The Kirin’s Debt Repaid: If you have the Debt of the Kirin boon from a previous adventure, Iko Tsuneo offers to purchase back the ancient letter of credit in return for one of his organization’s treasures. Choose one item worth up to 3,000 gp (Subtier 3-4), When you next purchase the chosen item, you do so at a 25% discount. When you use this boon cross both it and the Debt of the Kirin boon off their respective Chronicle sheets.
