Firewarden Yanda wrote:Correction needed for Yanda's HP in combat card, should be -12 instead of -2. And what is the '? - dmg;' for between Yanda and Kala?
By my tally Yanda made her save (the DC was 14 and you had a 13 +2 for having your mutagen active) for 12 damage total, of which 10 were absorbed by False Life, so a net of -2 dmg. Or have I missed something?
The ? on the combat card is something(s) that you have not yet seen. :-)
LOL. Usually I am the one reminding the GM about the false life, not the other way around!

She sends a sense of comfort and patience to Stinky so he'll stay put.

Stinky had been wondering if Kala was forgetting about him, but the reassurance he receives assuages his doubt. Meanwhile, Stinky listens for new dangers and does hear... something beyond the door...
Yanda hurls a bomb into the midst of the shrine to Kro’akoth the Awakener. Whether this pleases or offends the Awakener is not yet known but one of the candle racks is now ablaze. The candles on the other rack burn and dance, almost giddily.
Meanwhile, Uhvat continues to struggle with the door but is still unable to open it. He has the sense that it is barred from the other side. Options include: continuing to attempt Str checks to open and hope you roll higher; busting the door down (i.e. hitting it until you do enough damage to break it - it appears to be a good quality wooden door); a knock spell or similar; or something else creative.

All of the pathfinders - except the perhaps aptly named Stinky - are overwhelmed by the foul stench. Sickened condition for everyone but Stinky.
The room (see updated map) is an irregular octagon, and stone and wood barricades have been built in front of the doors on the south and west walls. It appears the walls were once covered with frescoes, but these have all been smashed, leaving rough walls and jagged debris.
The entire room up to the barricades is difficult terrain.
Getting over the barricades requires an Acrobatics check (as a separate Move action); if you fail you can use another Move action to Climb over.
Six fearsome humanoid creatures with dull gray scaly hides and frames that resembles that of cave lizards, along with long tails and crests on their heads and backs are behind the barricades (which provide them with Cover). They all let fly with readied javelins at poor Uhvat!

The troglodyte is a feral, savage cave dweller. They are among the most populous denizens of the upper reaches of the endless caverns of the underworld, equally at home raiding the settlements of those who dwell above or below ground, yet for all their race’s fecundity and sprawl, as a whole they represent only a minor threat. At times, great leaders can draw legions of troglodytes to their command to create vast and deadly armies, but left to their own devices, troglodyte tribes are content to keep each other under control with numerous feuds, cannibalistic raids, and bitter civil wars.
Religion is strong among troglodyte tribes, and their shamans and priests are universally the highest regarded members of a clan. A troglodyte chieftain is not always a cleric or druid, but those who do not have divine power are usually mere mouthpieces and puppet lords that answer to the beck and call of the local seer or shaman. Troglodytes generally worship one of the countless demon lords, particularly those of a reptilian or primeval shape and form or those whose Abyssal domains most closely resemble the tangled caverns troglodytes prefer.
A typical troglodyte stands about 5 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds.
For every 5 by which you beat the DC you can ask one question (including both troglodytes and the fiendish template) from the list here.
Pathfinders are up! The bold may act!
Note that their readied actions move their initiative position to just before Uhvat. For clarity's sake I've moved them (and Uhvat) on the initiative card but basically everyone (but Uhvat) can act before they act again. Hope that makes sense.
P.s. don't forget to apply the sickened template to your actions. Except you, Stinky!

"*Hurk!* Oh gods... C'mon Stinky. Let's see what's in there before those candles explode again. Heel." Oh dear gods, that reeks! Still gripping Orc Brains in one hand, she readies her light wooden quickdraw shield and strides forward, inwardly cursing her stomach for trying to distract her and wishing she could close her nostrils without suffocating.
There's a line to get into the next area, however, and she sees all the javelins that clattered to the floor. Thinking better of charging in and becoming a human pincushion, she turns to cast Barkskin on Stinky. "You hungry, boy? It'll be snacktime soon!" At the mention of snacks, Kala's stomach roils anew. Ohhhh, that was a bad image. Ohhhh gosh. Groaning, she turns to face forward so she can move as soon as there's an opening.

He looks around, but doesn't see any food, whether in Kala's hands or walking around the room. Maybe they're in the other room with the interesting smells! Stinky prances excitedly and begins drooling heavily.

Pointing at a random foe (Green), Kala commands: "Stinky! Attack!" Then, wading through the debris, she charges up to another (purple), swinging Orc Brains in a powerful softball pitch-type movement.

Snack time! Yeaaaaaah! Bounding over chunks of whatnot, Stinky bares his teeth, anticipating the flavor of his target's (green) flesh as his fangs close in on it.
bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 251d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Ohmygosh that's so interesting! Not sure what to make of it. Gotta have another taste, just to be sure!

Green - S on Kala, in effect.
Purple S on Yanda, no effect
Blue - S on Kala, in effect.
Tofang blasts Orange, this time catching him squarely on the chin, and he collapses.
Yanda Acrobatics, sickened: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 2 = 11
Yanda is able to scramble over the barrier, but it takes all her energy to do so and she is not able to use her dagger. It required two move actions due to the failed acrobatics check, per the module text. Her movement also gives Purple and Blue a chance to try to bite her.
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
... uselessly.
Uhvat swings his last at Yellow but once again the barricades gives the poor fellow the chance to elude what surely would have been a crushing blow.
Kala solidly bashes Purple, while Stinky dines on Green.
Start of Round 8
Yellow attacks Uhvat with revenge on his mind...
Bite, PA: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

CRIT CONFIRM? Bite, PA: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Of course I'm gonna attack! They're hurting you! Also, I think they taste like chicken, but weird chicken. It's hard to tell for sure. Trying to get another taste of the walking snack bar before him, Stinky lays into the green-painted foe.

Did the troglodytes move during their turns? Can't quite remember. 'cos if the room is difficult terrain, they couldn't have 5-foot step, so wondering if any triggered his AoO? Of course, the first was a miss, but the second was a very nice crit.
Still gagging from the stench of the creatures, Uhvat looks faintly disgusted that the badger seems to relish chomping down on them.
He pushes that out of his mind, focusing on the combat at hand, swinging his lash once again upon his target.

"Ouch!"
Yanda is not particularly effective with her dagger, simply setting up shop to draw fire away from her companions and block the door and figuring she could safely evade any attacks, but the storm of claws and bites prove a bit much for her.
With a quick twist and flip, she attacks blue.

Tofang wounds Yellow with another pistol shot.
Uhvat, none of them moved on their turn but it's also only difficult terrain on your side of the barricades. You got an AoO in the previous round from someone making a ranged attack (javelin) within your reach but that hasn't happened again since then.
Uhvat swings again at Yellow but something about the barricades or the stench or both has messed up his timing and he misses again.
Yanda stabs at Blue and, being on the same side of the barricade, manages to draw a bit of blood. Even after adding the sickened penalty.
Everyone, incidentally this is why, both as a player and a gm, I'm very fond of people writing out the various modifiers that are being applied to the die roll - it saves the trouble of having to ask 'did you remember to add/subtract X.'
Start of Round 9
Yellow bites and claws at Uhvat...
bite, PA: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
dmg, PA: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

... but to no avail.
Green shifts 5' (as noted above, the area behind the barricade is not difficult terrain so there is no obstacle to a 5' step) and attacks Kala, despite having Yanda in a flank. (Because reasons)
bite, PA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
dmg, PA: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
claw, PA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

claw, PA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
dmg, PA: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
... a single fiendish claw draws more blood from the already wounded daughter of Krokum.
Blue continues the relentless assault on Kala! (Again, not being mean - I'll explain the reasons for their focused fire after the fight).
bite, PA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Me too. I don't write out the standard bonuses, but if I have extra bonuses from temporary effects I always try to cite them in the roll. It SOOO makes the GMs life easier and helps discover mistakes.
Yanda keeps whittling away at Blue, drawing a scratch, albeit a nasty one.

(Again, not being mean - I'll explain the reasons for their focused fire after the fight).
No worries. It makes tactical sense. These aren't mindless beasts, after all.
"Aagh! Uhgh..." At the edge of consciousness, Kala realizes that she can't safely disengage from this fight. Time seems to slow as her options flash before her mind. Her lips curl in disgust as she stows Orc Brains and brings her shield up to protect herself as much as possible. "Stinky! Attack! Kill 'em NOW!" The urgency in her voice, as well as the excruciating pain she feels, travels through the link between her and her beloved wolverine as she gives herself the Aspect of the Bear to help her survive. (+2 CON yields 5 temp HP)
Taking Total Defense for standard action; Animal Focus (Aspect of the Bear) is a swift action. Next turn, she'll grab a potion if she's still conscious.

YOU! HURT! MY! KALA! Not really caring which one of these bad thingies hurt her, Stinky flies into a rage, (really it's remarkable that he hadn't already,) biting and tearing at the foe before him. He's so enraged that he doesn't even notice the flavor of its flesh.
