Nope, did not know that. So it becomes 1 NL, right? Next time I'm just going to do an aid, or blow something up.

Uhvat continues to, almost mechanically, swing his lash, trying to connect with the lizard creature in front of him.

vs yellow: Power Attack, Furious Focus, Flanking, Sickened, Chill Touch
+1 ectoplasmic lash: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 11 - 2 + 2 - 2 = 22 dmg: 2d6 + 8 + 6 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 8 + 6 - 2 + (3) = 26
If that brings it down, Uhvat will move towards blue.

Uhvat has Combat Reflexes (i.e. up to 3 AoOs) and Reach. Rolling his AoOs in advance below in case any triggers.

Kala, I think your AC with total defense is 21, yes? Assuming so... 21 dmg, less 5 temp hp, is 16 dmg. With the 40 taken earlier, that puts you at 56 total dmg, or -15 below your normal 41 hp. With a Con of 14 this would normally make you dead but the aspect of the bear boosts your Con to 16, leaving you 1 hp away from death! If you fail your stabilization check you'll die but in PbP format you can roll anytime in your initiative group so you can wait and hope that one of your comrades can heal you this round. As per previous post, have moved Uhvat after his attack when yellow went down.

Seeing as Uhvat has a good chance to take down blue in one shot, will attack. However, if no one else heals Kala, he would pull out his wand of CLW and use it on her instead. If so, ignore the post below.

Uhvat frowns, seeing Kala fall. He pauses momentarily, deciding between pressing the attack and helping Kala. Trusting the rest of the team to do so, he makes his decision and swings his lash upon the last creature.

@GM Abraham: Your calculations are correct.
@Yanda: Thank you!

Blackness envelopes Kala as she plummets to the floor, through the floor, and into the void. The faces of her family, all of them, emerge from the darkness, staring at her with the same expressions they held in life: a mixture of stoicism, vacancy, jealousy, and venom, with one pinpoint of love in the mix. She locks eyes with her little brother, Kanum, as he reaches out to her longingly. Suddenly, there's a flash of warm light behind her, causing her family's visages to flinch. Kanum pulls back, sadly waving good-bye to Kala, sharing their special gestures to communicate: Later and I love you.

Kala's spirit is pulled back, away from her family, then stops, floating in an endless black void, mirrored by the emptiness within her.

Whew! Got lucky with that Animal Focus. It is used in 1 minute increments, until Kala deactivates it. She has a total of 8 minutes before it ends, but she'll probably stop it as soon as she's healed enough that doing so won't cause her to fall unconscious again. There are healing potions in her pack.

KAAAAALLLLAAAAAAAAAAAA! Instinctively, Stinky knows just how close Kala is to death. If he could lay down his life for her, he would. But he can't, and the rage that pours through him at this infuriating injustice cannot be contained. He leaps over her body to shield her from further attack and bites viciously at the blue baddie.

bite: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 251d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11
Includes Animal Focus Bonus; as there's no duration to the Animal Focus applied to an Animal Companion, I assume that it still applies.

Combat over! Pathfinders are victorious. And alive. Whew!

Yes, very lucky/wise move to use Animal Focus in that situation. Reminds me of one time I let my PC walk into a room with one hp of dmg not healed - he got critted by a 4x weapon before he had ever acted and died by 1 hp - I learned my lesson! :-)

The alarm bell has stopped ringing and the pathfinders hear no further sounds now that the battle has ended. Feel free to take time to heal up and recover from being sickened from the troglodytes' stench. Btw, the shenanigans factor in that fight was that they all had the ability to smite good - they mostly used it (randomly) on non-good PCs but two of them landed theirs on Kala - hence them targeting her and also doing more damage.

The troglodytes carry little of interest besides masterwork falchions of unusually high quality and (non-magical) amulets.

DC 20 Knowledge (religion):
The flaming head of a serpent engraved on their amulets is the holy symbol of Kro’akoth.

There is nothing else of interest in the room but there are two doors leading out of it.

What would you like to do?

"Always unpleasant, aren't they?"

Wait until we have recovered from the stench and those that were injured are healed up. I lost a character that way too. I tend to minimax my expenditures and I just couldn't see wasting money on 1 HP. But he was resurrected so all worked out in the end. And I'd do it again! So I did not learn my lesson at all.

Ah. Makes sense.

Gasping, and immediately regretting the deep breath due to the foul stench of those nasty things. She glances around dazedly for a moment as Stinky collapses beside her, licking her face and nuzzling her with affection. In the back of her mind, it occurs to her that it's a good thing he's exhausted from his rage right now, or he might accidentally send her right back into the darkness with his exuberance. After settling him down, she nods at Tofang. "Thanks. I owe you a million." With a sigh, she unpacks some potions and begins downing them.

Fine with me to retcon to use Tofang's wand rather than Kala's spells/potions. Note, however, that PFS rules don't allow you to *repay* another player for the charges used. The customary way to do this is to simply purchase your own healing wand and make it available in turn.

Uhvat does not hear anything behind either door.

Not waiting for her companions to cross the barrier, she rushes to the opening to the south.

Yanda wouldn't have believed it possible, but the smell is actually worse when she reaches the opening.

Here is the entirety of the module's text for the next room:

The troglodytes use this cave as one giant latrine. The less said about it the better.

Before he scampers after her, however, he tears a bite of inner thigh from one of the dead stinkies. Chewing and drooling, he catches up to her. Hmm... Tastes gamy, but not in a great way. I mean, it'll do, but I dunno. It doesn't taste like *home*. He swallows, and the chemical processes that inspired his name begin.

I would absolutely love it if I could apply a template to Stinky that would let him be as stinky as a troglodyte for x number of rounds per day. As it is, it's just roll play.

The door to the next room opens without difficulty and smells just like normal bad troglodyte smell, not troglodyte latrine smell. In the center of the room is a fire pit with a sizable blaze crackling away. On either side are two tables with four chairs each. The remains of several small subterranean creatures—mostly rats and lizards—cover the tables. It seems they were being eaten raw. Along the walls are several barrels, one of which is full of javelins. There are doors to the east, west, and north (this is the door you've just opened).

Tofang: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Stinky (Kala): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Everyone but Yanda notices a charred, smoking skull in the fire pit in the center of the room. The soft scrape of bone reveals the long, sinuous skeleton of a large snake, its head a humanoid skull with a snake’s jaws and it immediately moves to attack the invaders!

Everyone but Yanda can act in the surprise round - as usual, only a single standard or move action in the surprise round.

Initiative:

Uhvat: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Knowledge (Arcana) DC 14:
Advanced Necrophidius: N Medium Construct. Despite its sinister appearance, the snake-like necrophidius is not an undead creature. Rather, it is a magical construct built from the skeleton of a giant snake and then mounted with the skull of a humanoid creature. Fangs are cemented into the jaws of the skull, after which the entire creation can be brought to life by a series of obscure and expensive rituals—these rituals are traditionally well guarded by those who discover them. As usual, for every 5 by which you beat the DC you may ask one question from the list.
