Glad to be aboard.

Buildwise, I’m going for a pretty flexible switch-hitter and tank. I’ll be loading up on operative melee weapons and longarms. Between the revelations (Constructive Interference for sonic and electric, Dark Matter for DR), solar armor (fire and cold), and the Enhanced Resistance feat (acid), I should have DR or resistance to pretty much all damage types by the end of the game. My other goal with this build is to crank charisma and try to play something of a ‘caster’ Solarian with some of the nastier save based abilities.

If I’m the only full BAB character, I’ll probably default to playing Gunner, but I’ll also be rocking a solid suite of charisma based skills if we need a Captain.

Before we start the actual game, a bit of tweaking can be done with skills. Its always good to have a backup on some skills, but with a party of four, you do want to cover all the bases.


Completely new to this. So all I can say about Tali is that she is tech support :P engineering and computers

My read is that we’ve got an Operative and a character for each of the mental ability scores so generally we should have the bases covered.

Operatives are excellent and reliable generalists. Solarians can serve as solid face characters. Mystics do... exactly what it says on the tin, but also can rock some solid bonuses. Same with Mechanics. I will say that the Skill Synergy feat and the Skill Focus feats are our very good friends.


I cant add her stats yet. Working from my phone. But I did post her build previously in recruitment. So if you folks with more SF experience can have a gander at it and let me know what I can tweak, I will appreciate it. Thank you

First thing I noticed is that you’ve got Skill Synergy for Engineering and Computers. The bonus from Skill Synergy is an Insight bonus and won’t stack with the bonus from your Bypass class feature.

Thanks for choosing me top join the group Woran. I'm excited to play my first pbp AP. Skills are a weak point for mystics especially when it comes to starship roles. I signed for this somewhat by choosing options that made piloting a class skill. So I am covered on piloting,mysticism, perception, and survival. I can contribute to culture and sense motive checks, but i'm not that great at them.

The Mystical starship weapon property can let you substitute your ranks in Mysticism for BAB when making attacks and checks.

Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't seen that property yet. I haven't looked in that book at all yet as I'm also playing that AP in a face to face group. My dex and wisdom modifiers are currently equal, but I do plan to prioritize boosting wisdom so being able to use wisdom in place of dex could help in addition to the mysticism for BAB swap. This is of course assuming we apply that weapon property to our ship. Piloting is already my best skill, and my connection bonus will boost it even more eventually.

Tali there are Starfinder avatar pictures if you want them, but there's nothing wrong with using the one you chose. If you want to look for them I've found it easiest to use the "sort by date" option in the top right rather than the filters on the left as most of the Starfinder products were added fairly recently.

I will be working on my character tonight. But, he will have most of the skills at the start, and eventually pretty much all of them.

Still debating focus..., hacker operative is an obvious choice.

So, a suggestion on attributes. Don’t bother with a 17, since at level 5 both a 16 and 17 becomes an 18. That is my personal opinion.

Antonius will be a backup for most roles.. and should be able to fill all starship combat roles as needed.

Initial version of my character sheet is posted. Still have to purchase gear, but skills and feats are probably set.

I did take Skill Synergy so that I could get Diplomacy as a class skill. May tweak the second skill here... currently physical science.

My best skills are:
Acrobatics +8, Athletics +4, Bluff +6, Computers +9, Culture +8, Diplomacy +6, Engineering +11, Perception +5, Piloting +8, Sense Motive +5, Sleight of Hand +9, Stealth +10, Survival +7

Because... operative.

Eventually, I'll be buying almost all of the skills, so I at least get my operative's edge on them.

Weapon focus (small arms) is always pretty nice...

Think about if you are wanting to multiclass, though. A single level dip into Soldier could give you a LOT.

If so, you'll definitely want weapon focus, and then vesatile focus and versatile specialization, so that you you can get +1 with all weapons you are familiar with, and +level in damage to all weapons you are familiar with!

Note... I will probably not be splashing a level of soldier, as trick attack only works with operative weapons and small arms.

Oh, and using computers as a distraction... I wonder what sort of imagery he'll be broadcasting! :D

If you're planning on leaving combat to your drone and playing more of a support role with your main character, you could just change what skills the Skill Synergy feat applies to. Medicine would be a good choice, as would any of the sciences. Alternately, Medical Expert might be a sound investment. There are also some general survival feats like Mobility and Toughness.


I'm thinking of then picking up long arm proficiency. Same for the drone later. "Sniper" team

Not a bad choice. Though again that 1 level dip into soldier would get you longarm and sniper weapon proficiency. I'm not saying you should dip soldier just pointing out the option as it gets you the feat you were thinking about. If you did decide to go that route you could take Barricade to work towards your sniper concept since having cover is always nice.

So for the start of the advenutre, you're all on the same shuttle bound for absalom station. Before I kick it all off, what would be an interesting place you could have all met up to board the same shuttle? A planet? Picked up from another ship?

A couple of options present themselves to me...

-If we want to play up the Starfinder Society angle, we could be returning from some sort of official Starfinder training facility in the Pact Worlds.

-We could have all just passed quarantine on a platform or ship out in the Armada if we're coming from more distant lands.

-Any of the other member entities of the Pact Worlds would make a solid choice to be traveling from.

Regardless, I'm going to be keeping Rasalhague slightly distant and enigmatic for the moment unless someone wants to explicitly link backstories.

I was previously headed to Absalom Station via a Stewards cruiser. Could be they were redeployed for some reason, and either dropped me at the nearest planet or transferred me to the shuttle.

The Stewards are pretty busy. Getting re-deployed is something that could have easily happened. The shuttle could have picked you up along the way.

Also, if people want to link backstories you're free to do so! A connection between characters is always fun.


@Jaru. Since I dont know much about the world, mind if she tags with you? Could be we both were dropped off there?

Sure Tali. As I said in my backstory Jaru was aboard a ship travelling from the Idari(Kasatha "Homeworld") when it was raided by pirates, and was then rescued by thye Stewards just in the nick of time. I imagine he's been fairly introspective recently as he just had a near death experience which left him connected to something he doesn't quite understand yet, but I speak Castrovelian which might give us some common ground if you were on the ship and introduced yourself to him. How did Tali come to be on the ship, and headed for Absalom Station?


I'm thinking a ship engineer in training. Perhaps her section to maintain was where you were staying on the ship and the two began talking and became friends?

I’m going to use the idea that Ras is there to actually get some work with the Starfinders as an independent contractor and specialist. Having someone bankroll his wanderings sounds like a good deal to him.

If you don't mind my asking what is the purpose of leaving the space at the beginning, and why do you break the tagline up between race and class/levels lines rather than making it all one line?
