Does using a bomb or alchemist's fire actually set the webbing on fire, such that it continues burning and spreads, or does each square need to be attacked over and over until it takes the 10 pts of fire damage? Merritt has 8 bombs/day, and an additional 6 alchemist's fire, but he could deplete that entirely and not clear the room if it's the latter case, and then he'd be left without his most effective weapons if we get into any other combat today.
Merritt looks at the webbing again, and pauses, the bomb still in his hand. "I don't know... I only have enough reagent for so many of these... and we may need them more for the spider that must be here than for its webbing. I still don't like the idea of burning up anything flammable that might be caught up in all..." he wiggles his hand in a swirling motion towards the mess of webs, "...that."
He shakes his head and puts his bomb away. "Let's start with blades, and see how that goes." He retrieves his dagger and takes a tentative slash at the webs.

The attack on the web seems effective, but it's not quite enough to cut through.
As bombs and alchemist fires splash, I'll allow one bomb/fire to destroy a 3x3 area of webs. It doesn't specify that the fire spreads, but it does specify that any fire damage causes more fire damage later.

Anybody got a torch? It would be easy enough to retrace our steps and grab a stick from outside if needed.

Torrak Farcrusher |

"Come on now, either we're lightin' this shit up or we cut through it. I've gotta torch here, I'll give it tha first go," Torrak says as he lights his torch and starts igniting what he can.

Zelphar takes a torch from Torrak and swings it hesitantly back and forth in front of him a few times. "Anyone got a light?" Assuming someone does... Once his torch is lit he watches as others start using their torches to burn the webs and does his best to copy their methods.

![]() |

Merritt also takes a torch, lighting it with Torrak's flint and steel. He warily approaches the doorway again, carefully touching the torch to the webbing after closely examining the webs for either treasure or threats.
Merritt will Take 10 on Perception: 10 + 7 = 17 before igniting each square as he moves deeper into the room, waiting until the square is completely burned before moving deeper.

Massive black iron gates bar the eastern part of this corridor, fashioned out of twisted, angular vertical bars that have sharp edges and are about a hand-span apart, linked by welded crossbars. Moreover, a black iron chain with links thick as a human thumb raps around the gates where they meet above and below the lock box. The chain's ends disappear into holes in the lock box.
