I gotta say that I was consistently laughing throughout the entire movie, which is more than I can say for any of the episodes for the last two/three years.
I was really afraid that the movie was going to go the same way the series has (i.e. resting upon the laurels of past successes and just phoning it in), but I can honestly say that there does not appear to be too much of that in the movie.
OTOH, it wasn't the funniest movie I've ever seen. There have been plenty of movies where I probably laughed more (for example, South Park movie and Borat both had me laughing so hard that I was in physical pain), but Simpsons was very funny never-the-less.
FYI for those who haven't seen it yet: Do go see it. And stay through the credits.

For some reason the Simpsons movie just isn't grabbing me? I like the tv series and all that but the idea of sitting through a reeeeally long version in uncomfortable cinema seats dosn't seem good.
Is it very funny? Is it better (more real 'laugh out loud' moments) than the best episodes we've all seen on TV? Does it do anything new? Are there any classic Lisa moments? (I like her best) :)

It's like a 2-hour episode: no better, but certainly no worse. I'd wait, and rent it at home; Homer on the big screen pretty much looks like Homer on TV, only bigger. Lisa gets sort of downplayed through most of the middle, which is a shame, 'cause she's my favorite, too (except for Otto and Jimbo Jones, of course).
