Three months after a crushing defeat, the Dwarves of Gold Peak must band together, defend the city, rally their forces and allies, and eventually rescue the captured King Dak Nimbus.

Kragg though stood tall. Shaking off the effects of the poison he formed a spear, which was sent at the beast. When the spear landed it exploded into dirt, rock and mud.

Vargas gags and falls into a crouch, only a hand supporting him partially upright as the poison continues to rack his body. Any thought of the spell completely lost in the haze of pain.

Durnim in his enlarged form cracks the beast, wounding it!

Rubius misses with his first arrows, but hits with his second.
Tawny hits with a bite and one claw.

Vargas succumbs to the poison and loses his spell.

Thurgrom swings, but misses, and Kragg's shot barely bounces off the creature's plate. With Rubius hitting on 22 and Kragg missing on 21, you know that the creature's AC is 22.

Ungebrochen enhances Durnim further, and the beast seeing the oversized dwarf as the largest threat moves in to attack him!

Vargas regains his senses enough to see the creature attacking the mighty form of Durnim. Wiping his arm across his mouth he says "Ah, at least you can get some revenge for me..." and he then proceeds to chant a quick spell and lay a hand upon him.

Vargas leans over to the side of the swamp and empties his stomach as the poison racks him. He pauses to gather his breath and composure while leaned over before standing and rejoining the group. The thin dwarf begins to chant a spell that goes for nearly twenty seconds before he brings a hand to his green-cast skin. With a deep sigh he moves over and repeats the same long chant for Ungebrochen. "That is the last I can do for this until the morrow. But for now I have the wand for the strikes, I would suggest some cleaning of the wounds in case of infection although."

So the poison lasted 4 total rounds-

Durnim made save 1, failed 2 and 3 for 4 CON damage and I didn't see a save versus the final 2

Kragg ended it with 2 consecutive saves

Vargas failed all 4 saves, +4 from lesser restoration leaves him with 5 CON damage.

Rubius-failed save 1 & 2, made save 3 and failed save 4 for 9 total CON damage

Ungebrochen failed save 1 for 4, cancelled by the lesser resto but is pending saves against 3, 1, and 2 CON damage

Khazuk- made save 1; failed save 2 & 3, didn't see save 4 (4 CON damage pending save verse 2 more)

Vargas nods in agreement. "I agree, we should follow for here there is no choice. But if we reach a safe campsite it is something we should reconsider then. We don't have a way to scout ahead and charging blindly in is perhaps more than we should do weakened." he suggests.

Durnim comes out of his battle fury looking around for other targets. His deep panting recovers when he starts to shrink down to normal size.

"Ungeborchen, that magic was a amazing! I was big as a hill giant!" He greatly appreciates the magic.

"Brothers, this creature hurt us deeply with his breath. We follow trolls and must be prepared with fire and full strength. Let's forge ahead, but rest at the next defensible campsite." He suggests.

Rubius looks at Vargas. "Hey now! Whaddaya mean no way to scout ahead?! I may not be subtle in court but I can move through some brush!" To prove his point, the dwarf takes the lead, staying 30 ft ahead of his comrades.

Vargas chuckles and nods to Rubius in acknowledgment of the point with apology. "Aye, I meant a far-ranging scout, but indeed a little warning could make all the difference."

Rubius begins scouting slightly ahead, and Khazuk flies up into the air to scan further still.

As you go, you notice some changes in the tracks- the troll tracks are nowehre to be seen now, nor, in fact, are the horse tracks that were pulling the carts. . . the carts seem to have been moving without ANYTHING pulling them.

In fact, eventually it becomes clear that there are now only the cart tracks, and the footprints of a single humanoid- likely elf or human, and definitely female.

Khazuk sees much of the same terrain- bog, and swamp, but eventually ahead he spots a clearing- This is slide 8; the center hut is a large hut, easily big enough to hold a creature of massive proportions. The other huts though, are the missing carts of the caravan.

Near the front of the central hut, a solitary woman stands stirring a large cauldron.

This is probably a 3 hour trek further, and you've travelled several hours so you'd reach the clearing at about 2 PM.

The dwarves were attacked, and tracks of the carts have led here. Would you happen to know where the carts and provisions are? If we can recover them, we would be on our way."

As you approach, the woman is still at work in the cauldron, clearly brewing. . . something. She looks up to acknowledge Durnim's words, her beautiful lips cracking to reveal a set of perfect teeth beneath, her dirty blonde hair held up with a series of vines and twigs.

"What? Oh? These wagons?" she motions to the circle of wagons surrounding her, "No, I bargained for these. The master promised them to me for my work."

She isn't lying, per se, but you don't feel she's being entirely truthful.

To show this he raised the ground up beneath himself, giving himself a platform to speak on and raising himself to her eye level.

Failing to understand the maiden's meaning, Thurgrom does pick up on the kineticist's meaning to stay back, and quietly unhooks his waraxe from his belt. Should any other members of the party try to approach the woman by the fire, the mynrughdaer will grab them on the shoulder to stop them.

With that, she tips the pot over, and the liquid inside goes pouring out, as it does, a foul creature rises from the sticky goo! Her face has changed now, and you can see she is, in fact, hideous!

This appears to be an Annis Hag- a grotesque monstrous humanoid that attacks with nasty rending claws, has resistance to spells, and is best damaged by bludgeoning attacks.

Vargas grumbles as he moves up towards one of the huts, pulling out his crossbow on the way, but instead of loading it he gets a twinkle in his eyes. Chanting a spell quickly he points at the woman-like creature before them, a small dark grin on his lips as he hopes this may help.

Round 2
Tawny's attack is exactly what the zombie ordered, and he rends the unliving flesh till it stops un-living and returns to just plain dead.

Rubius' second shot hits, but does slightly less damage than expected.

Kragg's attack, however, is fully effective and the Hag screeches as she falls down, destroyed.

The hag dealt with It was an annis hag you reconnoiter the area. The wagons all appear to be here, but there is no sign of either horses or dwarves. Most of the goods and grain even appear to still be intact.

When you go to check the hag's seemingly oversized hut, there is a creature inside! A giant in fact!

You've only heard tell of these creatures in legends from the east, but there's no doubt, this is an eclipse giant.

Taking up the whole of the hut, the massive giant's dark grey skin is covered in arcane and occult symbols. You think you see patterns of the stars of the sky mixed into the other iconography, but you cannot be certain. One symbol which does stand out is the spear and angel wings of the God of Prophecy Pacifa.

You clutch at your weapons, worried for your lives, as the giant looks at you, it's eyes glowing like the largest silver moon.

It casually flexes it's muscles, and the bindings which the hag had apparently restrained it snap like twigs. Then it stands, exiting the hut and backing you all back into the clearing.

It looks to the sky for a moment, holding up its arms and making a few gestures, then looks down on you and speaks.

"Three times shall you touch the magic of the pacts.

First, a pact you shall break.

Second, a pact you shall make.

Finally, a pact you shall fulfill."
