Three months after a crushing defeat, the Dwarves of Gold Peak must band together, defend the city, rally their forces and allies, and eventually rescue the captured King Dak Nimbus.

Seeing the orc warrior entangled and lying prone, Kragg summoned a mining pick. Stepping forward he used both hands to bring it down on the foe.

Kragg plowed the pick into the prone fighter, adding more to his wounds.

Tawny moves to switch targets, andthe prone orc has not quite yet regained his senses and cannot attack- but even flanking the Witch's magical protection keeps it safe from their reach.

Durnim reaches out with his mighty sticker, and scores a brilliant stroke, leaving the orc's lifeless form laying in the dust!

Letting go of the mining pick, which like all of his weapons quickly crumbled into dust not long after being summoned, Kragg created an axe. He sent it spinning across the room towards the orx witch.

Vargas moved around to the rear ranks and reached out towards the fallen Rubius. Puffing for a moment from the movement of his own injuries, the prior lightning bolt nearly cooking him alive. "No time in now for a rest Rubius. There are still orcs!" He said with a grunt.

Rubius stands and fires at the witch:

Silently Kragg continued his bloody work. Another axe quickly followed the first, impacting solidly into the orc witch.

Swinging his waraxe high, the mynrughaer attempts to sunder the prone orc warpriest's armor.

Vargas brought the wand to Rubius again before heading the front line where more dwarven blood was being shed. Panting as he moved and wiping sweat and grime from his brow.

Kragg and Khazuk both came in. Throwing caution to the wind the Thrush cawed and pecked at the orc’s face. Nothing that could really hurt it, but enough to distract it. Kragg swung a stone pick, hoping that the weapon could pierce through the orc’s thick armor. Thanks to the orc being surrounded and distracted, that is exactly what happened!

Vargas moved up to the pile of dwarves hammering at the down but not out orc. Pulling out his dagger he tried to spoil its defenses against Thurgrom while calling out. "Jump on it! Tie it up. We might get some information here!"

Feeling the wash of negative energy further pulling at his wounds caused Vargas to gag a little from the pain. "We could also try to smash that symbol to stop him calling upon his foul deity." Vargas heals himself, counter acting the channel.

Thurgrom steps up and trips the warpriest, putting him on the ground again. This makes his effective AC currently 21-- 27, -2 from Dex loss to entangled, -4 for prone.

Kragg doesn't have to delay, as Thugrom tripped just before his turn- with the aid of his familiar distracting the orc, he manages a brutal crit!

Round 8
Tawny tears into the orc further, and Rubius hits with a single shot, piercing the orc's neck, and putting the war priest down!

All around, you begin to hear the cheers and cries- "For Gold Peak! Victory! Victory!" You pause to reflect and you see the signal fireworks exploding int he distance- the orcs have been repelled and Gold Peak is safe!

You search the orcs, and find the following equipment of note: +1 Full Plate, +1 Heavy Steel Shield on the War Priest, and a +2 Ring of Protection on the Fighter.

Kragg let the pick drop out of his hand, and it crumbled to dust.

”They shouldn’t have gotten this far...” He muttered wearily. He was an Oldstone through and through. The defenses of Gold Peak would need to be rebuilt and made stronger. This was a victory, but it should never have been in doubt.

Rubius throws back his head and bellows with joy. Tawny rushes over and leaps up on him, licking and nipping. Rubius begins hearitly shaking the hands of the other dwarves. "A gorgeous battle and well fought!" He nods at rhet suggestion of checking the defensese. #"Aye. Gotta make sure the orcs are really gone."

Vargas chuckled with little humor. "Aye, but the Lords of Battle assessed our strength well compared the attacking orcs. I am sure there were other gates guarded better. I wonder if another group of scions failed in their task where we did not. It is hard to say how weakened we are without seeing all of the reports from today."

Ungebrochen kneels down and starts to pray to all the dwarven gods. This battle has left him emotionally and physically drained, but the rush of victory flushes his cheeks.
"Thank the gods."Nodding to Vargas he adds.
"We should hope to get a moment to rest and eat and drink. And listen to all the other reports of the other barbicans."

All throughout the city, cleanup begins. The wounded are directed towards the various temples, all but the Temple of Hapi where the dead are directed, orc and dwarf alike. As the cleanup continues, Skycaptain Gale Festivus approaches you,

"You all did a good job on the wall, in the tunnels, and in the city. Your side held when the others did not, and you made it through without any casualties, which is better than most. There's reports that there was some fighting in the Vaults. I've sent the Stormhammer family to check vaults 51-75, me and my crew,"Gale gestures at the few young and very old dwarves with him, "will check 1-25. I need you lot go and check 26-50"

The Vaults Common Knowledge:
The Vaults are like oversized safe deposits boxes, or Greenwalts bank in Harry Potter. There are 75 of them in three tunnels, they are each individual vaults with combination style locks, heavy steel doors, carved into stone. Each vault typically belongs to one family, or very rarely an individual.

You head to the Vaults, and trudge down the hallway, checking each door numbered in clear plaques about them 26 through 50. As you reach the end of the tunnel, you hear a very faint sound.

Perception DC 15:
It sounds like a battering ram, in the tunnel to the east of your position which holds Vaults 51-75. After a short time, the sound stops.

You rush back down the long tunnel. As you are coming out into the opening where the entrances to the three tunnels meet you see the Stormhammer family, four Dwarves of young adult ages.

Knowledge Local DC 10:
The four younger Stormhammers are (from eldest to youngest) Valia, a sworn priestess of Hapi; Bruidon, a warrior also pledged to Hapi, Broodfist, a gambler, drinker, carouser, and general cad, and Asger, a young warrior. Their father, Valmoki, drank away most of the small noble house's fortunes over the past twenty five years.

Knowledge Local DC 15 or Perception DC 20:
Asger is noticeably different in complexion than his siblings, and his father, Valmoki, all of who are dark haired and pale skinned, whereas Asger has bright red hair and a ruddier complexion.

Sense Motive DC 15:
The Stormhammers seem to be in a bit of a rush; and seem to be potentially looking to avoid speaking to anyone.

Priests of Spiryth are able to treat your wounds with healing magic before you head into the vaults so everyone is back to full health except for Burn.

The bird also knows that there were some rumors in the past about the Stormhammer's mother, who died under mysterious circumstances shortly after Asger's birth. There were even tawdry rumors that Valmoki was not Asger's birth father.

They do not seem to be concealing anything physically on their persons.
