Finally using her sword for battle Nalia gets straight to work and has a brief exchange with the Vatyra thug. Nalia goes for a downward swing and the thug attempts to block it, but being a powerful magical sword it cuts through the thugs blade like butter and Nalia buries her sword deep into the shoulder of the thug. She then with a great surge of Holy energy heals her wounds almost fully.

Enough of these foolish games, I have played them long enough. with that Queen Vatyra does the same motion she did before palm sideways, then up then she points a finger at where the party is. She once again casts fireball and everyone except Beatrip needs to roll a reflex save DC:19 I went ahead and rolled to see if she passed the first one, she did not. If you pass you take 14 damage, on a fail you take 28 damage. Also need the roll for that necklace BobE, +7.

The fireball leaves Tinboy once again very scorched but this time he is able to avoid most of the fireball.

Ogald five foot steps into a flank and attempts to stab the cyan pentagon guild of beggars soldier. Hitting with one of the attacks and and digging the dagger deep into the mans side.

Eanulf moves up and headbuts the yellow circle guild of beggars soldier, not quite killing him.

The Butcher walks slowly towards Ib, not taking his eyes off of Turngut until he reaches the formidable hobgoblin. He quickly ducks a slash from Ib and delivers a savage deep stab into Ib's stomach.

Poppo sits on the ground as the fireball washes above him not even budging as he concentrates on his magic, the spell complete he points at Turngut, the orc grows to immense size.

He then hustles over toward his old buddy Ib, moving into a flank with one of the beleaguered Beggars.

Staunching the flow of blood from the dagger wound, Turngut doesn't see the fireball and gets smacked with the searing flames for full damage. Snarling, he looks over to The Butcher, but is able to remember BobE's words and stay focused. As he looks back at Ogald, Poppo's spell takes affect and (to Turngut), Ogald shrinks down before the orc's eyes. No longer caring about safety or containing the threat, Turngut stomps at the man wildly.

The fireball strikes scorching BobE and Turngut severely, and knocking BobE unconscious. The flames somehow wash over the sat down Poppo. Who with a flick of the wrists and some arcane energy makes Turngut gigantic. He then moves in to assist Ib and the left side of the battlefield. Turngut somewhat stunned from the fireball can't land a strike Ogald, who taunts the orc during the exchange.

For BobE's Eyes Only:

The fireball consumes your body and you black out from the pain of the burns. You see a long, narrow tunnel black on all the sides and at the end a light. Standing there in front of the light your family looking back at you.

BobE does not stabilize and his condition worsens. Beatrip misses both slams on Ogald and the BAGS hits once with its claws on the orange pentagon Vatyra.

Keep fighting! Keep fighting! Francis yells out Maintain inspire courage +1 Francis then moves in to assist the left side of the battlefield getting a good stab in on the yellow diamond Vatyra.

Ib severely wounded from the Butcher's stab and the fireball throws everything he has at the Butcher. He first studies his movements and then swings with his greatsword. Leaving a massive cut along the Butchers abdomen. Tinboy attempts to slice at the yellow pentagon Vatyra but is swaying from all the damage he has sustained and misses.

The archers near Queen Vatyra take aim at seperate targets this time the red one goes for Poppo and the arrows hits Poppo in the gut 13 damage. The second one fires at Francis again hitting the King of Beggars square in the chest Critical hit! 19 Damage

Summoned creatures. Vatyra laughs sending four magic missiles at the troublesome blood skeleton destroying it in an instant.

Seeing Turngut now larger and easier to hit Ogald will five foot step up to Turngut confidently and stabs into the orc twice with his daggers 7 Damage for both. Eanulf walks up to the yellow circle guild of beggars soldier spits on him grabs him by the head and just breaks the poor guys neck.

The true duel begins between the Butcher and Ib the Bruiser with Ib able to parry the Butchers rapier.

Feeling the slicing of both daggers into his flesh, Turngut's eyes flash. He sends a massive fist into Ogald's gut, doubling the dog-master over. He quickly follows with a swift uppercut elbow to the man's face and finishes with a solid roundhouse sending the limp form flying back to crumple in a heap.

I took some liberty in assuming that all 3 of those hit (finally!). If not, I think Turngut will take BobE's last instruction and grab Poppo and run!

Turngut releases a flurry first with a punch to Ogald's gut followed by an upercut that breaks the dog masters jaw instantly with a crunch. Finally Turngut's massive tree trunk legs roundhouses kick Ogald to the ground. Ogald goes prone from all the damage and with a spit of blood at Turngut, Ogald simply says Vatyra before going limp, dead.

Poppo moves away from the large group of Vatyra, as he does the green diamond Vatyra attempts to stab Poppo as he darts away. However Poppo blocks the dagger to the side simultaneously slashing the Vatyra's throat killing him. Poppo then moves up and thanks to Francis Bedlam's inspire courage Poppo is able to hit and kill the blue circle Vatyra.

The Vatyra and Guild clash once again! Two attack Poppo but both miss, notably one is able to bring down the very wounded Tinboy.

Oh I don't think so darling! Queen Vatyra says as Nalia approaches with BobE in toe. Two magic missiles strike BobE knocking him unconcious once again 8 Damage the other two strike into Nalia 9 Damage.

Eanulf moves up to Poppo and winds up his fist for a knock out blow! However as he is about to strike Poppo square in the temple Poppo is able to duck avoiding the potentially very harmful strike.

The Butcher very wounded side steps a sloppy strike from Ib and goes around his side. Not anticipating this The Butcher stabs Ib right through the back, blood pours onto the ground. The Butcher slides the blade even further into Ib who drops his greatsword to the ground. The Butcher pulls his rapier from Ib who falls to ground. The Butcher wipes the blood from his face and looks at Turngut holding both arms out Your friend is dead, so kill me you filthy disgusting beast!

GM offered me the opportunity to narrate the final moments of The Butcher...
WARNING: The following post contains graphic depictions of violence. Viewer discretion is advised.

Dashing the 50' across the battlefield, the massive, nearly 12' tall Turngut moves with supernatural speed thanks to the Warmind blessing. Leaping into the air, he delivers a devastating flying kick, each of his 24" feet slamming into The Butcher's face. Knocking the bearded man to the ground, his top hat flying a dozen feet behind him, Turngut lands crouched on his old foe. One knee presses into the man's sternum with only part of his 1688 pound body weight bearing down. Leaning down with his tusked face millimeters from the bloody remnants of The Butcher's nose, hot, fetid orc-breath gagging the man as he struggles to breath.

Turngut remember you, Butcher. He whispers, barely restraining his rage. Butcher bad man. When Turngut first see Butcher, Turngut big and Butcher run away. Now Butcher no run. With that, Turngut sits up and allows the weight of his body to lean on The Butcher's chest. With sickening, hollow pops, multiple ribs slowly crack in succession and the man's chest is visibly compresses as he gasps for air. Looking over to Ib and then back into the bruised and swollen eyes of his once nefarious enemy and yells, This for Ib! He slams a fist as big as ham hock into The Butcher's temple. This for trying to hurt Hoppo and Wrinklebutt! A blow to the other temple, this time sending a spray of crimson across the dirt. And THIS for being a bad, BAD man!! Taking both hands into a fist over his head, he drives down on The Butcher's head which smashes into the earth like an overripe melon. RRRoooaaaaRRRR!

Standing up from the body, Turngut faces Queen Vatrya, blood dripping from his clenched fists.

Now here's a throwback, when Turngut initially got to Enderal he got attacked by several of the Butcher's Bandits on the Suncoast and was left for dead. Sweet sweet poetry that the one who was left for dead came back and killed the one responsible and in such a fantastically brutal fashion.

Like Galagher smashing a watermelon so to does Turngut to the Butcher's head with a loud wet POP!

Poppo tactically moves back and waits for his time to strike on whoever approaches.

The right side of the battlefield is cleaned up of any hostile enemies by the remaining Guild of Beggars soldiers. And an additional one is slain with a soldier flanking with the giant ghoul.

The orange circle Vatyra moves up not suspecting the viscous attack from Poppo who drives the axe deep in the Vatyra's neck. The green circle Vatyra makes a pitiful attempt at hitting Turngut but doesn't even come close.

BobE you're up! Constitution role which for you currently is at -1. Don't forget about your ghoul boy and Beatrip.

Staring down the queen, while still standing over the body of The Butcher, Turngut doesn't notice the approaching dwarf gang or even Nalia going down. He does notice his halfling friend suddenly take flight! Snapping out of it, Turngut rushes up the wall to get past the Queen's bodyguards.

Full withdraw using Quick Runner's shirt (110' of movement). 50' to get to the wall. Climb check to move up 10' (40' of movement) and then 10' to get to wall #2 (assuming he makes the first climb check).

Ok wow umm...I am really sorry for what I'm about to do...

Poppo activates his cloak to fly up and meet the Queen face to face while Turngut sprints as fast as he can climbing up onto the first level and being met by the two bodyguards.

The Guild of Beggars fire insignificant shots at the bodyguards with only one really hitting. One of the Vatyra men runs off in the same direction as Eanulf while the other is ready to go down swinging.

BobE gets up and challenges Vatyra who chuckles at the demand.

On the bodyguards turn they drop their bows and morph into the same grey alien like creatures that you know as doppelgangers. The blue doppelganger takes position in a flanking position the two doppelgangers hands morph into long grey claws. The red one slashes at Turngut slicing is bicep and with his second claw severs Turngut's Achilles tendon. Down to one knee the blue doppelganger walks closer to Turngut in immense pain and draws the razor sharp claw across Turngut's throat... Total damage...56 from all attacks...I'm sorry Turngut but you are dead...

The middle dwarf has a short brown beard and short mow hawk. He wears a large number of gold chains around his neck and his clothing is fur-lined with his chest left exposed. Franics you bloody moron! How are you just going to take a Four Points Dance challenge without help from your ole friend Idrok Nernalt! Bloody idiot! Idrok looks around at all the bodies a bit disappointed that they missed all the fun.

Only really seeing Vatyra and the two bodyguards up on the building he frustratingly flails his arms around Well I cany do anything about them. I can climb about as good as a bloody pony!

Before the dwarves arrive, Turngut charges at the building and vaults onto the first floor, growling and fixed on the queen. To his surprise, the bodyguards morph into the very things that nearly killed his friend so recently. Shocked, he pauses a bit to long as he looks around for Poppo, to make sure he's not in danger. As he does, he feels the dazzling pain as his arm is nearly cut off from the first swipe of the doppelgängers. Pivoting quickly to face the first, he misses the second lunging in and painfully tearing out the tendon from his leg. With nearly no strength left as blood pours freely from his multiple wounds, Turngut's body begins to fail, but his eyes dart around for his first real friend. Perhaps the only friend he's truly ever had.
Landing flat on his back, unable to move, his eyes spot Hoppo flying above him towards the queen. Time slows down for the orc in his final moments...

H-hoppo? He barely manages to choke out, flecks of blood spewing from his mouth. Hoppo? Hoppo..OK. Hoppo..safe. A small smile crosses Tungut's battered face even as the light in his eyes begins to fade. Realizing this is his last chance to speak with his friend, Turngut rallies enough to bark out, Hoppo! Turngut is.... But his final words are cut off by the vicious slice of the doppelgänger through his throat and with a final gurgle, Turngut lays still, the first peaceful look on his face he's had in his sad, tortured life, his lifeless eyes open staring up at Poppo.

As the life drains from your body you feel a jolt and suddenly in a spectral form you begin to rise upward. You see your body below, Hoppo the bird flying towards Vatyra, Nalia prone but awake, and BobE. You rise higher and higher you see the expanse of the Undercity. Then ethereally you emerge and float above Ark. You see the many temples of the Temple District, The Dancing Nomad, The Sun Temple of the Holy Order. You rise further above the clouds and birds, above Vyn then you land.

At the foot of a great gate, a labyrinth so dark you cannot see. Then you see a radiant light from a lantern approach and then a figure. A kind man with a grey beard and a smile, his eyes a completely golden color. Turngut Ulgratch? I am Eroned the god that leads souls into the afterlife. I wasn't sure if you would arrive but your recent exploits have confirmed that you shall pass into the Heavens. The figure pauses and looks at Turngut with some sadness. If you pass through the Cradle your friends will not be able to bring you back. If you wish you can wait here at the gates. Or if you're are ready I will lead you to plane where souls can rest easy. This is your choice.

Master Nernalt, run with me to the top of the building. We'll find a way, Turngut can't hold them forever. We must make speed!

I assume I can't see that he's down, so if you could calculate how many rounds til we can get up there I'll be moving as slow as the dwarves. Can we make it in 2 if we run? Can we even enter the building from this side? Also, let me know if I'm missing anybody closer that I should be engaging but I didn't think so.

I'd say Nalia could defintly see Turngut go down the building doesn't have any railing and you watched as Turngut shrunk from being a large creature back to medium. The building looks pretty run down and while you probably could go inside you don't see any doors to the different roof levels meaning you would need to climb to get up there

Queen Vatyra points down to the corpse of Turngut Let that be a lesson to you as to what happens when you cross the Vatyra! With that Queen Vatyra snaps and suddenly her form turns to that of a thin green mist which floats away from the edge of the roof five feet before disappearing into the wooden floor boards.

Ok, it would take me a full round to get to the building and probably 3 more to get up the building assuming I'm a bad climber. Did you say she dissipated into the air or went down into the floor below thru the boards? And is it two or three stories high? She was up on the 3rd level and they are on the 1st level above the main floor? If I only have to climb to the first level than maybe I could do that in the next round. Are the guys running as well? And who wins the fight if she runs away? And did BobE's healing happen to help any of our friends like Ib, Francis or Tinboy? Lots of questions!

Well you were also prone which is a move action and then four squares toward the house. I already moved Nalia this turn. Yes three stories she was on the 3rd story cast gaseous form and went down five feet through the floorboards of the building. You dont know what happens if she runs but one would assume you win. You will find out on their turn if they are also running. The healing seemed to help Tinboy and Francis, but Ib is too far away from the channel and doesn't seem to be moving at all.

Poppo flying toward the building, sees Turngut go down! It looks bad, really bad. But, he can't be completely sure.

Nalia and BobE will heal him up! He thinks optimistically.
Poppo's an optimist overall and not a medical professional, he really has no reason to doubt that Turngut can be healed up.

He sees the gassy queen retreating and can't let her escape.

He flies toward the building looking for a bird sized opening to squeeze through.

Turngut looks around, confused. Uhhh. Eron? Eron-ded? You Wrinklebutt's friend? Uh, Turngut mean... The orc struggles to come up with BobE's actual name. Uhhh. Old-man's friend? Turngut feel happy for first time. Body not hurt, not feel broken in here. He taps his chest over his heart. B-but Hoppo! Hoppo need Turngut? Or is Hoppo OK? Turngut see Hoppo flying like bird. Hoppo free now too. Will Hoppo come to Cr-cradle too? Or maybe Turngut wait for Hoppo here? What Turngut do, Eron-ded?!

Turngut feels fully at peace and likely for the first time in his life. He genuinely wants to move on to rest, but the only thing keeping him from walking right through the gates, is his love for his friends. If he can find out that they are OK without him, he'll move on to the afterlife. Otherwise, he will delay his eternal rest until he can be sure!

Beatrip looks up with a resigned expression when turngut goes down. She then spied the last vatrya henchman on the ground and charges him

The ghoul races forward in a double move to get in front of the shapechanger on the left. If the other henchman is dead, beatrip will as well.

BobE sees Turngut go down and screams. It was supposed to be me! Take me instead Elnil and Eronded. Take me instead! He is young and strong and will serve you better! Dont make me live through the death of another loved one. NO!
BobE pleads to take Turnguts place as he stumbles ahead. He points the giant rod of summoning ahead of the shapechanger on the right and another GAGA rises to intercept him

Poppo flies to the building and is easily able to find a hole that he is able to squeeze through in his raven form. The wooden building is falling apart and its probably a miracle that it hasn't. While each level used to have a floor, the floors have since fallen in meaning it goes straight up to the ceiling where you can see a thing green mist floating in the air.

Beatrip easily finishes off the last thug.

For Turngut's Eyes Only:

It is your choice to make but I can show you if your friends are alright. With a wave of a hand Eroned projects a three separate images of each of Turngut's allies. Poppo flutters in his raven form looking up at a green mist within a wooden building. Nalia sprints towards the same building. While BobE makes attempts to heal himself in others. For the time being at least it appears that your friends are okay. I see a strong bond between you and the young master Poppo, if you wish you can take a seat and wait right over there. Eroned motions to a peacful garden with several stone benches on one sits Ib the Bruiser in a similar spectral form. Many sit and wait, wait to cross the Cradle with their loved ones or close friends. And you can wait for as long as you need to. The choice is yours but when you are ready I will be here.

When you scream out "NO!" your vision changes in an instant. You hear the flutter of paper as you see below your feet a sprawling humongous tapestry folds out and goes farther than your eyes can see. Snow emerges on the ground a great chapel sliced in half on a great mountain, forest of massive trees surround you. You get a peaceful feeling then feel the presence of Elnil. You see a dove fly and perch on a nearby tree branch. The doves voice is neither male nor female and calms you. Loss is part of life unfortunately. the dove says never actually opening it beak. You in particular have faced quite a bit of loss in your life, worse then most I would say.

Do you know where we are? The place that I have brought you? the dove asks. This is the Dark Tapestry my domain, a place of peace for undead. This is the place that Beatrice created out of service to me. The dove flutters down and lands on the ground near you Do you see the snow? the dove asks It is not natural in this place, summer sun on the skin of someone who hasn't felt peace in many moons is one of the greatest feelings. Carsis creeps into my realm and Vyn, if you give up now then you will be letting the Crow win. I understand your pain, I understand it but they're are other ways to bring your friend back without sacrificing yourself when your work is not yet complete.

But I am failing you. He is younger and stronger. I cant keep up with any of my companions any more. Shouldn't you choose someone younger. Someone better? I dont think I can do this. You would be right to choose someone else.

Francis runs over and attempts to heal his wounds with a cure light wounds but it does not seem to take affect. Francis looks at the corpse of Ib and his former friend William Brown and a tear goes down his face. He looks up at Turngut and his face becomes even more sad, he looks at BobE screaming out then at Nalia and mouths the words "I'm so sorry".

Tinboy limps closer to the final hostiles but can only keep himself up by putting one hand on a wall.

The two guards move back both retrieve small vials from belt pouches drink them, then go invisible.

The dove laughs Believe me when I say you aren't failing me. I could have chosen someone who was had no wrinkles, someone who could lift great things. But I didn't...I chose you. I chose you not because of your age or how strong you are. I chose you because you are special. You, Poppo, Nalia, Turngut are special but you caught my eye because you had the courage to stand up to Carsis. It also helps that out of all the people in the world, of all the high ranking priests and powerful beings in this world Beatrice chose you to bring her back to the Tapestry.

The dove looks down at the snow But if you do not want to carry on I cant stop you. I will say that it is your friends choice if he wants to come back and his soul is tied to the Heavens not to the Dark Tapestry I do not have the power to bring him back. I am sorry BobE.

As always I will do as you wish. But my powers seem... intermittent. At times I bring an army other times I contribute little. I worry for my companions. Our foes seem to prepare for a gigantic battle. If my powers are off, my friends suffer as they did today. Should I leave them for a while? Should I seek the dark tapestry only? I thought by dying I would bring here with me. Is it time to part ways with my friendd to save them. The rest of them? Please give me a straight answer yea or nay I beg you. Or at least give me choices on where to go next
