Nalia Malphason |
I'll follow Turngut into the room with my sword drawn and shield in my right hand. Just made Nalia a lefty!
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 and I'll detect magic on skeleton and briefly as we explore the room.
bobie |
I try to blend into the shadows. I sense a foulness to the air, but it may be the ork.
Turngut |
Seeing that the light is coming from the Northern hall, Turngut will move stealthily and keep his darkvision peeled for any activity that way.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Still gonna poke the skeleton with my toe though!!
Benjen Harris |
Poppo does not spot a trap. Turngut pokes the skeleton, it remains still. Nalia casts detect magic on the skeleton, she doesn't detect any magic.
Cultist Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Turngut doesn't see or hear anything down by the light.
Turngut |
Turngut looks at Poppo and shrugs with a questioning look. Where we go, Hoppo?
Want to go for the lighted area or sneak down the narrow southern passage? Turngut can take the point with Nalia
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Poppo gestures toward the light. There
Benjen Harris |
The group rounds the corner to go toward the light only to met by a large man crouching near a torch wielding a kris knife. He wears a sack hood with two crudely cut eye slots. As you round the corner he chuckles and moves to attack.
Initiative!
Nalia Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Poppo Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Turngut Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Bobie Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Jespar Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Cultist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Initiative Order Round 1
Nalia
Turngut
Jespar
Poppo
Bobie
Cultist
Everyone can go.
Benjen Harris |
Jespar will move forward and shoot his bow at the cultist.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 171d6 ⇒ 3
Jespar hit shooting the cultist in the shoulder.
bobie |
The worshipers of the false snake god must die. I feel Erondina has a plan for Nalia, therefore she must be kept alive for the time. I rush up and attack the cultist she confronts on her own.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Has Bobie ever rolled higher than a 5 on an attack roll?
Poppo rushes at the scary cultist and takes a stab.
short sword v. flat-footed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) - 2 + (4) = 4
Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
So that's 5 damage or 6 if that confirms vs. flat-footed
Move to move; standard to attack
Turngut |
Turnout stands confused for a few moments, but seeing Nalia move up to attack, he snaps to and rushes the cultist, dropping his long spear and drawing the dan bong as he goes. He charges and slams a flying double knee into the man's chest.
Unarmed Strike (lethal) POWER ATTACK: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 24 -charging
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Second level Turngut. Now, new and improved with Power Attack!!
AC is 14 after charge
Benjen Harris |
Nalia blocks the stairs while Turngut and Poppo attack the cultist, Poppo getting a particularly good strike on him. The Cultist is still technically up though he struggling to keep balance on his feat.
He will try to attack Turngut.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The cultist misses wildly and goes unconscious. But right as he goes unconscious the door on Bobie's right opens and you see two more cultists. One will strike Bobie.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The cultist stabs Bobie right in the side.
Initiative Order Round 2
Nalia
Turngut
Jespar
Poppo
Bobie (6 Damage)
Cultists
Everyone can go.
Nalia Malphason |
Not wanting to give the cultists any chance to run, Nalia quickly stabs out with her longsword at the red fringed one in the doorway.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 -2 for partial cover already included.
Turngut |
Turngut's head snaps around at the sound of the door opening and Bobie's grunt of pain.
No one hurt Turngut's friend!! He bellows (reverting to Orcish in his anger). He dashes past Bobie and attempts to dive past the first cultist Acrobatics to avoid initial AOO of leaving Bobie's square and then to go through the Red cultist's square..
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
The Red cultist is too fast and blocks the door, forcing Turngut to back off. He takes a moment to remember his training in bull rushing weak humans. Martial Flexibility - Improved Bull Rush
Growling through clenched teeth, Turngut snarls at the cultist,
I'm assuming that doesn't pass the cultist's CMD+5, so Turngut will end his movement to the square to the south of Bobie and provokes and AOO. If it also didn't meet the CMD, it provokes a second AOO for failing to move through occupied space. (1 for threatened square and 1 for occupied square, I think?)
Move action - 1/2 speed acrobatics;
2nd move action - Martial Flexibility: Improved Bull Rush.
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Bobie! Poppo calls out seeing him get stabbed.
I'll delay till to see what bobie does.
bobie |
no, i have never rolled over a 5 in an attack
I feel the cut of the sword on my side, and I withdraw 5 foot step As I pass the orc, I grab on to him for support and pray for Erondina's GUIDANCE on him.
How dare you strike your elders you dis-respectable young'un. I'll have Turnybutt turn your butt into a hide for my head.
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Once Bobie moves back Poppo steps up and gets ready to stab any cultist that comes out the door.
move - 5' step; standard - ready
short sword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Nope!
Benjen Harris |
The red cultist will take his AOO on Turngut.
AOO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The cultist gets a good stab in on Turngut as he tries to make his way into the room. He will then five foot step up and dodge Poppo's attack and try to stab Nalia.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
He stabs Nalia right in the gut, twisting the blade a little bit.
Suddenly emerging from around the corner is another Cultist who runs at and Turngut and will try to stab him.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d6 ⇒ 2
These Cultist have levels in Rogue so I get an extra d6 for sneak attack. Possible Crit
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The yellow fringed cultist catches Turngut off guard as he slices the back of Turngut's neck.
The blue cultist will go around and double move to Jespar.
Initiative Order Round 3
Nalia (6 Damage)
Turngut (17 Damage)
Jespar
Bobie (6 Damage)
Poppo
Cultists
Everyone can go.
Jespar will drop his bow, quick draw his two daggers, and attack with both of them.
First Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 101d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Second Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 191d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Jespar gets a hit with his off hand.
Blue Cultist 4 damage
Turngut |
Although his anger burns at the Red Cultist, Turngut's fighting pit instincts take over as Yellow comes up behind him and he spins and unleashes a flurry of small punches, elbows, knees and kicks at the cultist.
Brawler’s Flurry: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Brawler’s Flurry: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
YES!! Don't mess with an angry and well trained orc.
If Yellow is still standing, I'll move 5-ft to the west (where I put Turngut on the map). If he drops, then I'll 5-ft to the south and occupy the square where Yellow used to be.
bobie |
cast cure light wounds on turngut
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Benjen Harris |
Turngut punches the yellow cultist twice in the face, the second strike breaks the cultist neck.
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Poppo darts past Bobie to try to flank one of the cultists, hoping his halfling luck gets him there.
Acrobatics + adaptive luck: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 19
He gives the cultist a stab.
short sword + flank v. Red: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) - 2 + (1) = 3
Confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Move to move, standard to attack
Nalia Malphason |
I'll attack the red fringed cultist next to me, hoping to finish him off.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Benjen Harris |
Poppo nimbly jumps around the red fringed cultist, and gets a solid strike in but not a crit.
Nalia misses her attack.
The blue bandit will attack Jespar.
Blue Bandit Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
He hits slices Jespars arm.
The red bandit will attack Poppo
Red Bandit Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
He narrowly misses the quick halfling. And will five foot step out of the flank.
Initiative Order Round 3
Nalia (6 Damage)
Turngut (9 Damage)
Jespar (5 Damage)
Bobie (6 Damage)
Poppo
Cultists (Blue 7 Damage)
Everyone can go.
Jespar will attempt to leap over the blue bandit.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
He will then ready an attack on the blue bandit when Turngut moves into the flank.
Turngut |
Despite the obvious tactical move of flanking Blue, Turngut's mind is singularly focused on Red, the one who hurt is friend, Bobie and is now threatening Poppo. He shifts over past Bobie and growls at him to get out of the way as he moves.
Brawler’s Flurry POWER ATTACK: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Brawler’s Flurry POWER ATTACK: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
This time, his fury puts extra force into his attacks, as he rapidly sends 2 open heel-palm strikes at Red. In his desperate attempt to kill his opponent. one of his strikes was reckless and easily knocked aside by the cultist.
Actions: Full-round flurry, 5-foot-step. I'm assuming only one hit for 9 damage on Red.
BTW, what level is Jespar? +7 to hit on TWF!! Wow! :o
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Spotting Jespar's move, Poppo moves in and provides the flank, he than has a go himself.
These guys are cutting us up! We need to take'um down!
short sword + flank v. Blue: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25 Another 19!
damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) - 2 + (1) = 2 Another 1 on the sneak attack die, sigh
CONFIRM: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
move - 5' step, standard attack
Nalia Malphason |
Remember the 7 damage I got on the red guy.
Attack on red.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 81d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Nalia Malphason |
If you don't mind, before my last failed attack I'll do a fervor healing on myself, swift action and don't think it provokes aoo.
fervor: 1d6 ⇒ 5
bobie |
The orc bumps me about 5 feet over where I am flanking the red dressed cultist, so I attempt to put my shovel into his head.
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 121d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Benjen Harris |
Jespar is a level three rogue with masterwork daggers. Thank you for reminding me of that damage on red Matt.
Turngut punches the red cultist bringing him unconscious.
Poppo steps into the flank with Jespar and with their combined strikes they bring down the last cultist
Nalia (6 Damage)
Turngut (9 Damage)
Jespar (5 Damage)
Bobie (6 Damage)
Poppo (Unharmed)
Out of combat. What would you guys like to do?
The room the three cultist came from was once a fine dinning room but has since been turned into a makeshift armory with several simple weapons scattered across the dusty tables. A decrepit deer head is mounted on the chimney. A small hallway to the East leads to a door at the end of the hall. There is also another door in the hallway on the right side.
bobie |
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Ah a deer from the decrepit family. Very popular in this area I believe. Not to be confused with the avids people like to hunt. I am always finding people who claim to be avid hunters.
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Interesting Bobie. Nalia I'm not hurt but it looks like the rest of you took some cuts and scratches. Perhaps you could heal everyone up with that new fancy wand?
Poppo then proceeds to have a look around the armory, paying particular attention to 8 ball hearth area.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Nalia Malphason |
wand of clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 nalia
wand of clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 turngut
wand of clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 jespar
wand of clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 bobie
Wow! Pretty good rolls for a wand! Must be a good one, will have to keep it special. Close enough for everyone or anyone want another hit?
I'll help drag the bodies into the room to sort of tuck them out of the way a bit. Then I'll get ready to check out that hallway and door at the end.
Benjen Harris |
So looks like everyone is full on HP apart from Turngut and Bobie who are down 1
Poppo searches around the hearth but finds nothing. Nalia checks out the hallway searching the door on the right she finds a mostly empty closet. Do you listen at the door?
Turngut |
Between Bobie's in-combat healing and Nalia's excellent wanding abilities, Turngut feels about as good as he's going to get. He listens to Bobie talk about the deer and the avid hunters and decides that he will keep his eyes peeled for Avids. No sense taking any chances.
Turngut thank little-boned woman. New friends are all good at combat! He says as he beams a tusky grin. Turngut get bodies for woman.
He hoists all the bodies up on his shoulders and dumps them unceremoniously in the triangular closet. The one by where Turngut and Nalia are currently standing. As he carries them through the room, he begins humming/singing again: Turny-butt, turny-butt, oh turny, turny-butt. Turny-butt!
Once in the closet, he takes a look around for anything of interest. Listening at the door as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Nalia Malphason |
I'm sorry Ben, do we listen at the closet door? Or is that the room Turngut dropped the bodies in? Think we'll want to check out the small corner room closet if we haven't already. From there, I don't know.
Benjen Harris |
The room full of corpses is the closet which on the map is triangular room. The other door isn't on the map because I accidentally cut it off when copying the map onto google slides. I marked the other door with a black oval.
Turngut searches the closet and he notices that one of the bricks in the closet is loose. Upon removing the brick Turngut finds ten platinum pieces. He then listens at the door but doesn't hear anything.
Nalia Malphason |
If we don't hear anything at the door marked by the oval, I think we can head east into the next section, unless Poppo wants to sneak in and check ahead. I've got my sword ready for whatever happens.
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Quite the find there Turngut! Let me just hold onto that for safe keeping! As Turngut finds the small windfall.
He holds a hand out toward Nalia, as if to invite her to open the door.
Hard to sneak through a closed door. If gives the warpriestess a wink.
Turngut |
Turngut starts to hand the money over to Poppo, but pauses with his open palm, filled with platinum, over the halfling’s open hands. He looks at the money for a moment before letting it tumble down to Poppo’s care. Turngut never seen that much money. Funny color, not like gold or silver.
He readies himself behind Nalia as she opens the door.
Benjen Harris |
Nalia opens the door the reveal what was once a kitchen but has long since gone to ruin with several bags of grain rotten and many barrels destroyed.
If Poppo is sneaking in go ahead and give me a stealth check
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Not sneaking right now.
Turngut with that funny color we can buy a really really big bag of those tasty oranges!
He follows in the burly fighters, not really worried about sneaking.
Come on Bobie.
Benjen Harris |
The group begins to enter the silent kitchen. You briefly see the table in the middle of the room slide a little. But before you can react a rat the size of a small horse emerges from under the table, destroying it and letting out a loud squeal as it runs up to Nalia. The rat has several larges abscess's around his matted fur, and it drools a white foam.

Thankfully the recent surprises have Nalia on edge so she's not surprised by the giant slathering rat. Something in the back of her brain says she doesn't want to get bit by this critter!
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 101d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Poppo Hedgehopper |
Oh GROSS! Poppo exclaims as the disgusting rat emerges.
Think I'll have to delay a bit and she what Turngut does. Close quarters in here.
