Question for GMs:
What level was the scroll of magic missile I purchased from Grok (back on the Wormwood) written, or is it assumed to be cast at my current level when I read it?
Tamesis Kieran |
don't forget about range penalties, Tammy. they're out in the second increment right now.
Yep, I am aware. That was calculated into my attacks.
+10 base, -2 Spell Combat, -1 Risky Strike, -2 Range, +4 Arcane Accuracy. +9 Total.
Madiya |
Just making sure! (that's a lot of modifiers...)
Tamesis Kieran |
Tell me about it...
Darth Maximus |
I'm fine with using massive damage if you guys want to. Doesn't come up very often.
As for the poison, Baolus, I've always played it as such:
1. First exposure, if you fail you take the damage.
2. On your turn, save again and take more damage on a fail.
3. If you are exposed to a second dose, you don't take immediate damage again, it just extends the duration and increases the DC.

WHY CAN'T I ROLL A DECENT CONCENTRATION CHECK?!
*curls into a ball and cries*
Buhayra Sarraf |
Oh the plus side the carpenter's apprentice might not be dead yet...if we can finish this battle quickly Buhayra might be able to heal him back up to standing. Unless he went so far negative that he just insta-died.
Buhayra Sarraf |
No updates makes Buhayra sad. :'(
In otherwords...bump!
Tamesis Kieran |
Seconded.
Buhayra Sarraf |
Ack, simulposted with Sven.
Balous is closer to the boy then I am, so if he runs and picks up the body then I will meet them in the middle to take the actions I described.
Tamesis Kieran |
Semi-tangentially, Choon, I looked through your aliases, and I noticed Cuddles.
I was actually reading along with that game, and it's the one that made me fall in love with S&S. I actually tapped that same GM to try to run S&S for my weekly group at the time (that inevitably fell apart). And Cuddles was a big part of why it was so enjoyable.
GM Choon |
@Cuddles: Awww. Thanks! Cuddles is one of my favorite characters and I reuse him occasionally. He's in a discord-based game right now dealing with a zombie apocalypse the only way he knows how: Hugs!
(He's also half-crab in that game because reasons.)
@Godwyn campaign: Ya. Monkeygod is kinda bad at keeping anything resembling a pace going. Which is sad.
And you're very welcome. It's an honor to create moments like that with people.

There is a set of signal flags next to the window that overlooks the open sea.
Okay, so signal flags tells me they are using a system like Semaphore to communicate with the ships?
Darn, I was hoping it would be a more simple "raise the flag for occupied" kind of thing. :)
Buhayra Sarraf |
I am waiting to see if one of our more charasmatic party members want to attempt a handle animal check to make a friend. If not, Buhayra definetely will, although she will undoubtedly will fail. After that she will be ready to head back to town.
Buhayra Sarraf |
I had already removed the amulet from our loot list in anticipation of us turning it over for the squibbing (honestly I misread and thought we were paying up front like Sven). So I don't remember what it was or did...
Anybody able to help me out?
Kehlysch |
Found the description on the D20PFSRD.
It basically gives you 10 automatic successes on Handle Animal checks (specifically, it allows you to count up to 10 failed Handle Animal checks as successes), then it disintegrates, so it's a charged non-rechargeable item.
Buhayra Sarraf |
Thanks Kehl!
Buhayra Sarraf |
I like sunset challenger...a ship fast enough to outrun the setting sun...that's a pretty cool image.
Tamesis Kieran |
Yeah, works for me.
Buhayra Sarraf |
Anyone else want the morningstar? Buhayra can make use of it until we get around to selling it...it is a melee option she can use if she is burned out and someone threatens melee.
It would be the last resort...she is not a in your face kind of gal, but maybe a good option to have.
In other news, adding 600 gold to our party loot fund since we sold that amulet to pay in full for the squibbing, but then ended up with discounts on the squibbing.
Buhayra Sarraf |
Buhayra will take a watch if the PCs are doing the watch schedule. I am also fine with NPCs watching...there are enough in the crew that we trust that I imagine that would be okay.
Tamesis Kieran |
Historically, it would be a mix of officers and crew on watch. Probably do a rotation with one of us and one or two crewmembers, without having the same people on two nights in a row?
Buhayra Sarraf |
Works for me.
Kehlysch |
It looks like we have half the group that have darkvision and half that don't. If we pair those of us who don't with some of the NPCs with darkvision (if any survived), we should be good to go.
Buhayra Sarraf |
Information for me...is there an alarm/revelry bell on deck? How is the alarm normally raised?
Darth Maximus |
There would definitely be a ship's bell on deck somewhere, probably on either the forecastle or sterncastle.
Let's say it's the sterncastle, near the ship's wheel.
As for raising an alarm, there is always shouting, screaming, and otherwise making lots of noise.
Madiya |
Misdirection! It matters right now! Fooled ya! Hahahahaha!
I actually snort-laughed at that. Not that it wasn't expected, but still. :D
Darth Maximus |
So it's going to take a move action to get out of your hammocks, and another move to get out on deck for all of you, except Baolus and Tamesis. Tamesis has to roll Acrobatics to get out of her hammock as a move action, otherwise it's a full round, and if Baolus is in the same cabin as Fishguts, down below, it's going to take him a couple of actions to get up on deck...
Madiya |
Kel and Madiya didn't move themselves on the map, so I placed them. Please, everyone, update your token when you move. The only one exempt from this is Sven.
I looked at the map, but it didn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. Where exactly are we sleeping? It sounded to me like we were on a different deck than the combat (hence stumbling up the stairs), so I wasn't sure where on the map we would end up.
Tamesis Kieran |
Madiya, the officers quarters are in the front of the ship, under the forecastle, so the door opens directly on to the deck. I think it was probably assumed you were sleeping there.
Sven, why not charge?
Madiya |

Oh. Then I wouldn't have needed to double move, just get out of bed and fire. Oh well...
That said, what is the lighting level outside? Silly human no have night vision, so can she actually see what's going on, or are we just assuming that there's illumination?
Tamesis Kieran |
Hey Buhayra, don't you have Kinetic Blade? That counts as a weapon and does more damage...
Costs burn, but...
Buhayra Sarraf |
Provokes attacks of opportunity to manifest it. Doubt I could maintain concentration on it any better.
Not really sure how a kinetic blade build is supposed to work without better concentration checks.
