Submitting Rigel, a cleric of Gozreh who has healing, weather magic, can act as a poor man's face, and has a trident. What more could you ask for, besides the six demon bag?

Ships Wizard, reporting for duty!

I would like to apply with Loges, if approved.

I also applied with Virgil, but I like this one better.

I do allow multiple submissions, yes. I shall add it to my list.

A diviner is an interesting choice, I don't see too many of those played. That drawback is rough, though. You sure you're comfortable with it?

I see him as having tunnel vision. He is easily distracted...squirrel!

I think that it shall entertain...lol.

Ten Minute Background :

The Ten-Minute Background

Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged!

(1) Buhayra is a tall woman with skin the color of tropical waters. White waves are tattooed from her cheekbones down her torso and onto her legs and arms. The tattoo seems to stretch the length of her body and as she moves it seems to ebb and flow like the tide coming in under a noonday sun. Her darker blue hair is evocative of an undersea cliff, dropping into unfathomable depths. A hint of a smile often finds its way to her lips, or glinting within the depths of her eyes.

(2) Buhayra has a quiet and otherwordly sense of humor. She often takes advantage of others lack of knowledge about her heritage to misinform and ridicule. "My blood is seawater...Undines don't sleep, instead our consciousness returns to the ocean depths...If you keep looking in my eyes while we swim down you'll be able to breathe water. "

(3) She doesn't know where in her genealogy the influence of the sea came into the tree, or how it has given here such wonderful powers. Nevertheless, she is grateful. To her mind there is no greater joy than floating in the ocean with unknown depths beneath unless it is using the power of the waters to bring someone back from the brink of death.

(4) One of the most formative moments of her youth was when a boy with a crush on her went out with the pearl divers to impress her. Trying to find the best pearl to give her as a gift, he stayed under too long and was brought back to shore unconscious and barely breathing. The guilt she felt overwhelmed her so that water began to bead and drip from her fingers, hands, and arms. Embracing the youth she felt an energy surge out of her like a tidal wave. Suddenly the boy gasped and coughed up have a lung of the bay. This was the first time Buhayra's powers manifested themselves.

(5) The longevity of undine life has worn slightly on Buhayra. The young boy she saved in her teen years has since married, had children and grandchildren, and is now living out the sunset of his life. Meanwhile, Buhayra is as youthful as a 20 year old human. As such Buhayra has started seeking out the friendship and companionship of longer lived species such as elves and gnomes.

(6) Buhayra asked her father years ago about her name. She was told that it is a travelers blessing in an ancient language. It apparently means 'calm seas'

Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.

(1) Having mastered the basics of her abilities, Buhayra is ready to explore her powers further. She feels a potential wellspring within her and is convinced there is untapped potential there.

(2) I look forward to exploring the potential of a kineticist as I have not played one before.

Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet.

(1) Buhayra is slightly scared of her powers. Everyone around her calls them a blessing, but with that untapped potential she senses a destructive power as well. She is somewhat worried that if she puts cracks in the dam she may not be able to hold back the dangerous power it is holding back.

(2) A human cult worshipping Charon have become obsessed with gathering items of power to enhance Charon's influence within the water domain. They have become aware of Buhayra's water powers and believe her to be a sign and emissary from Charon. Unbeknownst to her the seek to insinuate themselves into her life and bring about more power to their diety and his favor.

Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character.

(1) Tomas Thornbrook - This 80 year old human was once a teen boy with an infatuation that nearly ended his life. While he is know nearly at the end of his life Tomas and Buhayra are still the best of friends.

(2) Shahera - This tiefling bar maid has been serving at the local watering hole for years. Recently she has become involved with the cult of Charon and now hopes to bring Bihayra into their circle to advance herself.

(3) Bartok Greenskin - The captain of the last vessel Buhayra served on, this half orc became fond of her and hopes to pursue a romantic involvement of the opportunity arises.

Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.

(1) Buhayra is sly and a trickster. She enjoys practical jokes, but sometimes takes them to far.

(2) When healing someone of operating Buhayra mutters to herself in Aquan. She hasn't told anyone else, but she is reciting children's stories and nursery rhymes because it helps to calm her emotions.

(3) Buhayra had never felt emotionally attracted to anyone. She finds people pleasant, but romantic advances to be of putting. She will often work to make a courting suitor see her as a friend instead.

No writing sample this time. The previous one showed I can string words together. That was the point.

Pretty close to what I have on my side. Still 25 minutes left (it's 11:35 here in CDT). I'm staying up late to make the cutoff post. Will be back in 25...

***OPEN RECRUITMENT IS NOW CLOSED***

Anyone who has expressed interest but has not yet submitted a character now has 48 hours to get a submission in. Since there's so few, though, I'll be sending PMs to them, so we might be able to get underway sooner.

I have filled in the basic information on both submissions profiles and put the links to their Myth-Weavers character sheets there. This should make it a little easier to review them during the QA/selection process.

The sudden silence that has been drawn over these threads is spooky.

We're at the edge of the map now; there be monsters!

Felt in the mood for "Pirates of the Caribbean" today...lol.

Shame that they didn't have a Ships Wizard...lol.

We all sit in hushed anticipation for the judgment of our GM.

I have to agree...

...with the others.

The suspense is killing us!

So I may have accidentally deleted Madiya's alias this morning. Not to worry, it's back up now. :)

Ready to burn the inn down if not chosen. I told them to lay off the oatmeal and rum!

Heeheehee. Glad to see we're all still fired up. Just one more day (and 4 hours) and we'll get ourselves started. :-D

may or may not have been listening to the Assassins creed 4 sea shanties all day haha. Best of luck to everyone!

I've been resisting installing Sid Meier's Pirates again...

Yo ho ho and another bottle of rum...*hick up*

Resist Sid Meier's Pirates? It is one I regularly return to. Icon is in the lower left hand corner of my screen . . ..

Yeah, but I'll get sucked in, and then my wife will get sucked in, and my 3 year old daughter will probably get sucked in, too...

That sounds like it could suck.

It could.

But it's a REALLY good game.

Like many of the best games, it is deceptively simple.

Just posting to say I'm still here and anxious. I've not joined the pre-game RPing simply because it would suck if I get a sample of Baolus and then ended up not being picked!

I've done that before with another PC... you get a fell that you are part of the story... and then you are not. :(

Same...much sameness.

Also, not sure who I would preRP...I like Aloch and Buhayra. I know who I would prefer to play, but the GM might go in a different direction and pick the other one or neither of them.

I would prefer to stay at my current level of excitement and investment until the results show up.

That makes sense. I've been toying around with different combinations of characters while we wait, and I'll be honest, some of what I saw in the RP warmed me up to a character or two.

We'll see if we get any last second submissions, but if not, it should be a pretty quick process.

I've read posts here about how the rum rules in the original book are pretty nasty and there is an alternate set that makes sure the crew isn't dead a few weeks out. Might be worth checking out.

Plus when this AP was released, there was a huge interest but few got off the boat or finished the book. So those selected should make a plan.

Yeah, I've seen those alternates. I've got a plan for how to handle it.

My character is allergetic to achoul [if I can finish translating the dang background]

I've detached the pregame RP thread in preparation of starting the game, just so there's no confusion.

Not sure we should allow the Wizard rum....

I've got most of Capricia v 2.0 done, though I still need to finish off gear and double-check skills.

Good luck to all who applied!

Alright! Capricia is actually the last submission, as the other 3 people who hadn't posted yet pulled out (via PM). I'm going to do one last sweep and deliberate, and will have the final list posted later on tonight.

A note to everyone who doesn't get selected: PbP games have a notoriously high dropout rate. While I hope and pray that the selections I'll make will stick, I also hope that the rest of you will be willing to jump in as alternates, should the worst happen (God forbid).

All set for either result.

Wether or not the inn survives unsorched has yet to be determined...

Liz: Go ahead and burn it down. Sorry.

The chosen few are, in alphabetical order:

Baolus Yeralzery
Buhayra Sarraf
Galessa*
Kehlysch
Madiya
Sven Olaffson*
Tamesis Kieran (eldritch archer)

*I was honestly torn between your two submissions. I, personally, like Sven more, but you said you think Galessa is better. Either one will fit with this party, so go ahead and pick which one you want.

To everyone else: We had some REALLY good submissions. This was a lot harder than I expected it to be. I do hope you'll consider being an alternate, should something happen, God forbid.

To those who were chosen: Congratulations. The Discussion thread will be up momentarily, so go check in there.

Congratulations! Have fun, guys!

Have fun on the high seas guys! And Maximus, Nathan isn't going anywhere so if anything does happen he would be happy to be an alternate.

A few days later, the inn burned to the ground and the smell of burned oatmeal wafted through the air for days.

And nothing of value was lost.

Sven it is! An Ulfen pirate joins the ship! Thank you.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If the group ever makes it back to Port Peril, I may have to make this canon...

Silver Crusade

Con grats everyone

Congrats! Make Besmara proud!

Can't say that I am not bummed.
Have fun on the high seas!
Thank you for the shot.
