Kaldane Starlight |
It's worth noting that Bestow Insight requires the caster to have at least 1 rank in the skill.
On a seperate note, I'll get Kaldane levelled up tonight.
Kaldane Starlight |
Okay, so I have Kaldane levelled up, and he has some new skill based shenanigans: specifically, I took Natural Divination, which I can use 4/day to give me, among other things, a +10 competence bonus to a skill check. I also took ranks in Engineering, History, and Geography (three of my favorite non-identification knowledge skills) and I am planning on taking the wandering spirit, at least for the first day when we give mission orders, the sum total of which is that I'll be able to add my cha instead of int to all int-based skills.
This should let me have at least a chance on a few skill checks.
Also, I found a cool new 7th level spell I'm looking forward to trying:
Nox Neuropastum |
Okay, official purchases,
5 prestige and 600 gold for skill retrain,
3500 gold for a new talisman of breath of life
2000 gold for incense of eidos
4000 gold for cloak of resistance that I somehow neglected to ever pick up? (Cause I'm usually not targeted, but clearly this is more dangerous than I'm used to.) I'm skipping the mossy ioun to pick this up for now since we seem to have enough tricks that a single spike to +13 on local doesn't seem as important as getting my saves up.
Sir Hendric the Vigilant |
Sir Hendric will pick up the following:
Gloves of Reconnaissance (2,000) which will be loaned to Nox
Incense of Eidos (2,000)
Loading Shield into Cracked Vibrant Purple Prism (10)
Scroll of Shield (25)
Scroll of Air Walk (700)
Potion of Enlarge Person (50)
Potion of Lesser Restoration (Con) (300)
Potion of Darkvision (300)
Page of Spell Knowledge (Tears to Wine) (4,000) which will be loaned to Kaldane
Total: 9,385
Nox Neuropastum |
OOOOoh... shiny gloves!
They seem like the kinda thing a GM hates (Speaking from experience), no strictly mechanical benefit but all SORTS of trouble you can get up to.
Sir Hendric the Vigilant |
Clairvoyance is one of the best and most overlooked Wiz3 spells. These gloves basically give you a limited version of that 1/day. I suppose scrolls could do the same, but the 10-minute casting time could be a problem.
The GMs who hate this sort of thing are, IME, the ones who look at PF as a straightforward tactical minis combat game. You bring your power build and try to kill the thing that is behind the door. Very little regard for information gathering and counter-measures. I did play with one such GM but that hasn't been the norm in my experience.
I find it far more interesting to play smart and try to stack the deck in your favor - or at least circumvent the things the enemy has done to stack the deck in its favor.
Edit: one more item for Sir Hendric - Potion of Fox's Cunning for 300.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
I definitely agree with you, Hendric, I personally would only “hate” it because it requires me to think of stuff off the top of my head that the scenario didn’t account for (which I’m relatively bad at).
Nox Neuropastum |
Heh, Xavier is at more what I was talking about. These seem to be the kinda item that will have me stop for a second and look at my players before incredulously asking "You do... what?"
My favorite sentences that proceeded that have to be..
"I attach the squirrel familiar to the arrow with some twin and shoot for the top floor window."
and
"I cast "Awaken" on the Tarrasque"
but my absolute favorite will always be...
"I tie the coconut to the sparrow and cast "grow beast" on it."
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
(My favorite was a kitsune rogue who successfully sold Girl Scout Cookies to a barrister.)
Géatan Émond |
I have just seen. I think Tear to Wine is not legal. It is not included in the Archive of nethys.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Oops! Could've sworn I checked that. Géatan is correct, it is not legal. Not even on Additional Resources (it's from Arcane Anthology)
Sir Hendric the Vigilant |
My mistake!
I am in a non-PFS game where we really need some high Knowledge checks (Strange Aeons AP) and was trying everything I can think of.
I can totally see why.
Incense of Eidos, just checked, that IS legal.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Yeah...that combined with the incense is pretty much an auto-30; pretty absurd.
Géatan Émond |

GM Xavier Kahlvet |
I’ve got an IRL con today and a funeral that I’m attending tomorrow, so I may be pretty spotty with my updates.
Tortuga |

Sorry I haven't posted yet. I just haven't had time to finish updating Tortuga between work and other IRL events. I hope to have him ready tonight. I just have to spend some gold. I should have about 25k and was looking for ideas.
Winged boots would be 16k and would make it easier for me to get airborne.
The only possible option for ranged attacks I have are shuriken (crossbows are a joke at this level). I could pick up some durable adamantine ones (only material DR I can't beat at this point). Not sure if they are worth getting enchanted.
Items to boost my AC are pricey. 9k for the next bracers of armor increase, 14k for the next ring of protection boost. Increasing my headband to +6 would be 20k but would not just increase my AC, but Will and a whole bunch of other monk abilities.
Sir Hendric the Vigilant |
@Tortuga: If you can fly, I think ranged attacks are less essential. But maybe a +1 adamantine weapon that can do piercing and/or slashing? Your AC is pretty good and you have some ways to boost it.
My revised purchases:
Gloves of Reconnaissance (2,000) which will be loaned to Nox
Incense of Eidos (2,000)
Loading Shield into Cracked Vibrant Purple Prism (10)
Scroll of Shield (25)
Scroll of Air Walk (700)
Potion of Enlarge Person (50)
Potion of Lesser Restoration (Con) (300)
Potion of Darkvision (300)
Scroll of Eagle's Splendor (150) (works just as well for hitting the ability score required for AMF, but also helps the UMD check)
Scroll of Bull's Strength (150)
Potion of Fly (750)
Total: 6,435
Day Job, Profession (Barrister): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Alright, my posting for today is still likely to be pretty inconsistent, but I will still be able to post a decent amount (I didn’t realize the amount of down time I’d have today).
Géatan Émond |
Trickster?
Gaétan as a champion spirit. Unless you wanted that I refrain IT. (If I am capable)
Sir Hendric the Vigilant |
Oh, I thought you could change every day.
So if you channeled the Trickster on the day when we did the mission briefing, we would have a skill bonus that day.
And if you channeled the Champion on the day when we explored the location, we could have the damage bonus that day.
Unless you are an archetype that only gets one kind of spirit.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
That is generally true of mediums, but you also must realize that the spirit they channel is dependent on the location they channeled it.
Géatan Émond |
No, I am okay with the Trickster. I just didn't know IT. There a lot of Alley in Absalom, (or théâtre) si i could channel either of them.
Wow, medium is more versatile than what i was thinking.
Géatan Émond |
I Will post m'y briefing tonight.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
As always, anyone can use their folio to reroll these, but any individual d20 can only be rerolled once. The +2 comes from the True to the Mission boon, which I know that you all have.
Kernaug Group: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Axe-Fixers: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
I’ll keep these open to be rerolled for 24 hours, after that the rolls will be final.
Huh, the forums changed that first d20; it rolled a 5 before...Whelp, what’s posted is what’s posted, so a 10 it is.
Kaldane Starlight |
So what did people want for buffs again? Let me know so I can a lot spell slots.
As far as my spellcasting goes, I am casting an Extended Barkskin on myself, using my Lesser Extend rod.
Sir Hendric the Vigilant |
I'd appreciate a GMW from Kaldane on the lance, and a Barkskin as well (and also one on Sentry - can summon him from the armor, cast the spell on him, and send him back in the armor). Thank you!
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Hey guys, today’s going to be an insane day for me; I won’t be able to post as often as I’d like.
Tortuga |

Last time I took a GMW for my foot.
Géatan Émond |
I am good also.
I forgot. I am not here for the weekend.
Sorry.
Géatan Émond |
This adventure is awsome!
Géatan Émond |
I Will post tonight.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Once more, you all have 24 hours to say so if you want to reroll it.
Scroll Seekers: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Nox Neuropastum |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Well, a 9 is below 10, and bonuses or not, that's never good, and I like Janira, so i'll use my reroll to try to help the team. Here's to hoping I don't make this worse...
Scroll Seeker scroll seeker: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
.... WOHOO! I am COMPLETELY okay with that nat 20!!
Géatan Émond |
Don't tortuga would be able to understand this language?
Tortuga |
Tortuga has a constant tongues effect.
Géatan Émond |
I cannot post Today. Bot me.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
@Géatan: seeing as how there isn’t an immediate threat I’m just going to delay you for right now.
