Katsu and Helena slice into the sphinx, causing it to stumble and falter, but it does not fall. Seeing the effectiveness of Katsu's blade, the mummy steps up to deal with him.

”Not this day!” Luli cries, and Byron feels like he has a second chance...
Using Misfortune to force a reroll for that saving throw. First person each round can also declare that they’re using Misfortune to refill something (just be aware that other folks won’t be able to use it (and Luli won’t be able to prevent crits) until Luli’s taken another turn).
”Helena, if you make some space I can try to aid Katsu!” Luli says as he guides Karma to prepare for forward movement.
Okay, I think we can do this in one turn. If Helena squeezes and steps back 5 ft, Luli and Karma can rush forward and heal Katsu while Helena in-squeezes into their old space and attacks. If the GM thinks this acceptable and legal, Luli will delay.

Grandmaster TOZ |

I will allow Karma to ready to move forward when Helena steps back, effectively switching places. It will prevent Karma from attacking however.

Byron manages to resist the despair emanating from the mummy with Luli's help, but the sphinx manages to just dodge out of the way of his ray thanks to its quicker than normal reflexes. It continues to assault Helena with claws and bite.

Helena will move depending upon if the sphinx has fallen or not.
If it has she will move forward (east 5ft., diagonally southeast 5 ft, then 10ft further east)
If it has not fallen she will step back to give Luli room to maneuver.

Grandmaster TOZ |

Helena cleaves clean through the undead sphinx, leaving the two halves on the floor! The gap allows her to move into the room, but not enough to avoid the reach of the mummy!
AoO Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20

"Stay with us Katsu!" Luli yells, but the mummy's blow to Helena hits him too and blood begins oozing from sudden cuts on his face. "Umm.. hang in there and I'll get to you next!" Luli amends as healing light surrounds him and Karma steps forward with bared teeth. "Or wait - maybe Gaellin needs help next. Sorry!"
Cure Moderate Wounds to Luli: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2) + 4 = 12
Might need to dismiss this spell soon - Luli can't keep up with this much damage before falling himself. Thankfully, we've only got one opponent to deal with now. And don't forget about Misfortune when you need it!

Grandmaster TOZ |

Katsu slips his blade in under the mummy's arm, but the supernaturally tough flesh resists the worst of the well placed blow! The unholy light in place of its eyes narrows at Luli, before the monstrosity slams into Helena again, spreading the damage back to the halfling. It then shifts away from Katsu's reach.

Edited, missed the trip. I'm not going to be able to safely throw an alchemist's fire at him while he's prone so I'll instead ready the throw for when he attempts to stand up.

Byron splatters the alchemist fire all over the undead, the wrappings burning readily and increasing the effectiveness! Then Karma snatches the mummy off its feet again, despite its supernatural toughness preventing much of the bite from being effective.

"Oh no!" Luli says, horrified. "Katsu, you've been infected by the mummy! We've got to get you to a more powerful spellcaster than me, or at least find some scrolls to remove both the curse and the disease!"
Given that we've left and come back before (thanks, pyramid!), we could probably do so again to nab scrolls of remove curse and remove disease. Otherwise it's going to be near-impossible to heal Katsu given our level.

![]() |

"Yeah, that sounds quite serious. There was a remove curse spell written on a wall in an earlier room we could try."
Page 7.
In the event we need to return, I could do with a restock of some splash weapons. I'm also willing to contribute to the cost of getting Katsu healed.

![]() |

"Removing such an affliction is also beyond my abilities." Turning to Katsu, "It appears you have been tasked with enduring more, when we are able I will see that your additional burden is lifted."
Helena will use a wand to tend to the other injured.
can we take average 5 on a single charge, 11 on 2? to determine appropriate charges to use, for the non-cursed targets? 4 for Gaelin, 2 for Luli, 3 for Helena, leaving Luli and Helena each down 1hp

![]() |

"Oh yeah! But that doesn't help with the need for remove disease..." Luli says mournfully.
We could try exploring to find a match for the remove curse (if one exists), but we effectively can't heal Katsu for the duration. That's rather risky, but I would defer to their opinion.

![]() |

Pretty sure I can be healed, just not cured of mummy rot right? 'cuse I'm still down 14 HP.
I'm also just done with this adventure. It is not fun anymore. I'm wondering if it ever was. I'll see it through to the end, of course, it's just . . . terrible. Whoever wrote it should be shot. With fire.

![]() |

The trick is that it takes a caster level check (DC 20) to restore hitpoints to someone affected with mummy rot. So a 10% chance with a wand, 25% from Luli for the spell to not be wasted.

Oh, I see, it’s on the creature statblock, not the disease/curse statblock. Great. Well, I’m not likely to survive the week long trip back to town to get de-cursed so I guess I’ll just hang back and plink stuff with arrows and maybe we’ll get a scroll or remove disease or something. Though-given this scenario-I doubt it. God-this is just the worst place. No offense to the GM-they did nothing wrong, this is just. . . Just not fun. No other way to say it. I’m not having fun.

Grandmaster TOZ |

Okay, let's the get immediate unpleasantness out of the way. I hear ya Katsu, it's that kind of module.
Con Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Cha Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Of course. :/ Luli knows that the remove spells must be cast in quick succession, so you'll want to wait on the scroll. For now, Katsu is hurt but safe. If you can clear the rest of the tomb before his next save, we can look at options.

![]() |

"Let us search our surroundings to seek for something we can help Katsu with."
Assuming taking average on the wand is alright, I have adjusted my hp, and subtracted charges from my wand

Grandmaster TOZ |

I'm not sure where people got the idea you could take an average roll, but I've not been able to find the rule.
Helena sees that the body of the pharaoh has crumbled to dust save for its right hand. The sarcophagus is crafted of rare woods and inlaid with precious stones as well as embellished with gold leave. Examining the good along the walls turns up clothing, furniture, weapons, and other household items of excellent quality. The only other thing of note is the double doors leading south, back towards the entrance of the tomb.

![]() |

I'm not sure where people got the idea you could take an average roll, but I've not been able to find the rule.
it’s just a time saving house rule that some in PFS use. Instead of sitting there rolling a d8 for ten minutes and doing math to see how many charges you use, you just say: “you need 110 HP? Well we could roll for the next ten minutes, but if we assume it all averages out then that comes to 20 charges and we could just get on with the adventure.” We only use it for out-of-combat when randomness about healing isn’t as important.

![]() |

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like Katsu would get an additional saving throw to avoid taking the Con and Charisma damage today:
Onset: Some afflictions have a variable amount of time before they set in. Creatures that come in contact with an affliction with an onset time must make a saving throw immediately. Success means that the affliction is avoided and no further saving throws must be made. Failure means that the creature has contracted the affliction and must begin making additional saves after the onset period has elapsed. The affliction’s effect does not occur until after the onset period has elapsed and then only if further saving throws are failed.
Luli would happily use Misfortune to give Katsu better odds of making that save. The lack of healing still is terrible, but at least he'd not be as close to death.
