Pretty sure that's not how a stabilization check works - it's a d20 + your Con modifier (and rarely other stuff) vs. DC 10 + damage in excess of max hp. So that check would have still failed, but not as badly as it looked.
Also, hold in there. Luli's here to help. Might just want to stabilize you though since I don't think the creature let you go due to the adhesive, and if you're conscious it'll just constrict you again.

Dying
A dying creature is unconscious and near death. Creatures that have negative hit points and have not stabilized are dying. A dying creature can take no actions. On the character’s next turn, after being reduced to negative hit points (but not dead), and on all subsequent turns, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check to become stable. The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total. A character that is stable does not need to make this check. A natural 20 on this check is an automatic success. If the character fails this check, he loses 1 hit point. If a dying creature has an amount of negative hit points equal to its Constitution score, it dies.
I'm at -10 at the beginning of the round, and have a 12 con, so it's 1d20+1-10, so the math is correct.
I agree on the the stabilize over full heal, although if its some sort of automatic damage I may be dead either way.

Oh, that's just a different way of thinking about it! I usually increase the DC, not add a penalty on the roll. Thanks for the explanation!

Oh by the gods!
"Let go of him you stupid box!
Swift action - snapping turtle style, No action - 5 ft. step, Standard Action - grapple attempt on the sticky box.
Also, grappling a grappler is probably not the BEST idea, but hey its what he would do. The CMD to reverse this would be 24.
| GM DeadlySecret - society |
Etemyc grapples the box. Technically the box isn't grappling, Byron is just stuck to it and is in the grappled condition. Knowledge dungeoneering to know more. Etemyc is also now stuck to this box.

I guess I’ll run around to the other side. Assuming it doesn’t get an attack of oppertunity on me I’ll attack?

| GM DeadlySecret - society |
Katsu moves around the creature and attacks with the flank and hits, it appears it took the sneak attack damage. A thick slime exudes from this creature and your hand is now stuck to the creature. You’re technically not grappled, but your fist as a weapon is stuck to it but you can proceed with other attacks if you want but you won’t be able to move away from the creature.
The creature will attempt to reverse the grapple and gain control of Etemyc CMD 24
CMB: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Success
Gaellin tries to start cutting Byron free but the adhesive seems to be everywhere and is starting to stick to your weapon and you know you’re at risk of losing it to this strong adhesive.

Sorry, I was attacking with my swordcane, which I said I had out at the start of this thing. My fists only deal 1d4 damage, as I am not a monk.

"You got it!" Luli calls back to Helena. "Karma, quickly!"
As he comes up behind Byron, Luli reaches out to touch the elf and closes his eyes. "Like an oasis in the desert, bring new life to this man!" he cries out, and a flash of magic surrounds Byron.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7
Karma bares her teeth at the creature, but does not attack.
| GM DeadlySecret - society |
OK, Katsu your swordcane is now stuck to the creature.
| GM DeadlySecret - society |
Luli cures Byron.
Helena hits and does some damage, she is unable to pull her weapon away from the creature as the adhesive is all over it now and the weapon is stuck. This is also the case for Katsu’s weapon.
Forgot to have you roll this save. Helena & Katsu please roll a Reflex DC 17 to see if you can prevent this from happening.

"Karma, fetch!" Luli says as he points at Byron's unconscious form. "Stones, lend us your blessing!" he continues, and a burst of magical energy surges forth.
Luli casts bless.
| Madame Karma |
Karma yips affirmatively, then takes hold of Byron's clothes as gently as she can before beginning to tug him away from the creature.
I don't know, maybe a Str check to break the adhesive? GM, if you want something different you can look at Karma's profile and add the correct modifiers to this roll if you want.

Luli casts bless on everyone.
Madame tries to tug him away but the adhesive is too sticky and strong and he just doesn’t detach.

After prying Byron off the creature, Luli searches the wizard for his wand (unless Byron already gave it to Luli) and begins healing the unconscious elf.

"Goodness, that was frightening," he says. "But we made it through! Does anybody else need healing?"
Luli is happy to use anyone's wand to heal them if need be - go ahead and make your own rolls if you take him up on this.
Byron Milibanke-Grears
|
I'll keep my wand on me since I've got a halfway decent UMD score.
"Thanks, Luli!"
After dusting himself off, Byron reactivates heightened awareness from his wand.
Helena the Fanatic
|
"It seems nearly everything here is dangerous. We must maintain our vigilance and be on guard. Byron do you need any more assistance?"
Helena will move to far exit of the chamber after extracting her sword from the creature, and wait till the group is ready to proceed.
Byron Milibanke-Grears

Byron laughs nervously, and claps Myc on the back.
"Well, I wasn't, total faith in my companions. Of course, I was unconscious, so I suppose I couldn't be nervous..."
Once we are ready to continue I'll be making active perception checks, looking for anything dangerous, interesting, or out of place.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Byron Milibanke-Grears
|
"Ah, very kind of you Gaellin. Perhaps a sip, but no more. Need to keep my wits about me, such as they are."
I'm not positive but I think that there wasn't actually a sarcophagus, just a creature imitating one. If there was a real sarcophagus though I'll take a look.
| GM DeadlySecret - society |
Correct, the sarcophagus was the creature.
A black granite statue of a pharaoh stands on the polished alabaster floor in the center of this chamber beneath a vaulted limestone ceiling decorated with gilt stars. An engraved panel of granite stands against the western wall, carved to resemble a door. A flat granite slab lies on the floor in front of the false door.
Lucky Luli
|
"Hmm..." Luli says as he pokes at the floor slab with a stick. "Do you think we could see what's underneath this?"
Byron Milibanke-Grears
|
Byron carefully scans the area around him, looking for traps.
Perception to look for traps: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Gaellin & Byron do not think there are any traps.
