·Sorry· |
Welcome Weyland!
Please, don't be mean to Sorry.
She is evil, but she is a nice person! :)
@Dm
Once more, I've taken some freedon to craft myself a map from the stolen lands. I made a quick search on google and this map showed up, and the icons.
Feel free to use it as well, since your other map has the effect of making me want to move all those blue strips, and see what's beneath it. :D

Um, it occurs to me to ask... how exactly are we dealing with the departure of Pyotr? I would like to suggest that he is staying behind to protect Oleg's and help make the place defensible while the rest of us venture forth to deal with the bandits at their source. Thoughts?
Cyrioul Fasar |
Good.
·Sorry· |
As they ride, Weyland starts giving everyone the once over the with a little detect evil
The only ones that gives off an aura, is Weyland and Cyrioul, which is a good aura.
Check detect evil spell/ability.
Carina, Sorry, Derren and Bolys only begin to shed aura after level 5.
Edit: Also, I'm kinda interested to see how Weyland and Sorry will be in the future! I'm guessing we'll be best buddies!
Cyrioul Fasar |
Yep, Law, not Good. Abadar is more or less benevolent, just don't get behind on your payments. :)

Yup, I know, but Weyland just met you guys. As for later, who knows? With Weyland standing as a gleaming exemplar of goodness, how will you be able to resist the siren's call of the light?
Bolys Quinn |
For Bolys, it's less that the laws apply and more that he's grown up in the kind of frontier area that the law just isn't relevant or enforced. One of those areas that sees guardsmen or magistrates maybe once or twice a year, and for the most part has to rely on self-governance. It doesn't breed strong support of heavily enforced society, and results in interesting characters. Heck, I was sorely tempted to make him speak in frontier gibberish, ala Blazing Saddles.

Hi all - I have to go out of town for work today through Sunday unexpectedly. I will try to post if possible. Feel free to RP it up without me.

Ping!
Cyrioul Fasar |
Yup - just realized I hadn't done anything in several days, wanted to check in.

A players ranting…
Kingmaker, the fabled AP that everyone wants to play!
I’ve been trying for so long to get in one that when Calvus chosen me, I was really happy. However, that initial happiness endured only for a couple of days…
I’m not here to put blame on someone else, but what I what is to get game in tracks so we can all enjoy the game.
I’m DM’ing in the boards right now, four games and I know DM’ing is a hard job. You have to work five times more than each player and consider what everyone did, may do, or are capable of doing, to create interesting and fun scenes where the others can interact and further write down the game history.
Now, before I start saying where I think the game went wrong, please take your time to read this amazing guide to PBP by Painlord. The point I want to mention is: #1: Become a Master of the Push and of the Hook.
In this game, we have several characters with a well-worked backstory. More than that, we have superb players that really get into the char. I was Amazed by everyone else RP, and felt clumsily in my attempts to write Sorry’s answers. I have to work really hard to be in the same level as the others.
But here are the things I think it’s killing the game, at least for me:
1st: There’s no minimum posting rate.
We had to wait about one week, so Calvus put a notice he would not be able to post, for about another week.
2nd:PBP is slow by nature, the DM should be the one rolling the dices such as initiative, perception, survival and anything else that is needed to move forward the history.
So, here is another example:
We left the trading post at: Tue, Mar 10, 2015
Since there was no post from the GM to move us forward and there was a new player in the table, we started to RP among us, to get into the character and integrate the paladin.
So, we are all waiting for the history to move forward and then, when the DM posts again, here is what we got three days later:
This is a good intro. I assume you are still heading for the bandits?
Humm, there’s no moving forward here, or anything added to the history or anything that the players can respond to.
So, what we do? We RP some more while still wanting the DM.
Then on Mon, Mar 16, 2015, three days later, we got another post from the DM:
great rp
Well, nothing added as well, but let’s just continue RP’ing while we wait some more…
Then, two days later, the DM posts ‘moving’ the history and putting a notice he won’t be able to post for some time, but, the moving part is this:Bolys you manage to keep your way for another 3 miles.
Then we wait for about a week and get another post:
The land move before you ask you ride and talk. After 3 hours you need to check the map again
And then another:
Night falls as you enter forest. You hear wolves howl in the distance.
===//===
The point of all this?
DM, we need more details to work in the game. We need descriptions and hooks to RP about.
We are traveling in the wilderness to meet bandits? Cool! However, we need something more than: “The land move before you ask you ride and talk.”
This line gives us nothing to work with, there’s no hook from where we can take up and continue the history, more than that, and this is a personal opinion, mostly we like to read.
===//===
Night falls as you enter forest. You hear wolves howl in the distance.
Okay, I’ll take this as example to illustrate what I mean:
What forest? How is the place we are camping? Is there something nearby? A river, a cave? It’s well hidden? It’s near the road? Is it just before the sun-set?
The wolf’s howls are close? Far away? What someone used to living in the field such as Boyls thinks of it? Is it hunting howls? Is it just a howl?
In the end, I’m writing this all up because I want the game to move and be pleasant. But we need more to work with in PBP.
P.S: English is not my native language and I’ve written too much. I’m sorry about my bad grammar.
Cyrioul Fasar |
Thanks, Sorry. I agree, we do need a bit more to go on / to respond to.
I'm conscious that I'm not super push-y with this PC, because I feel like most of the other characters had been helping to keep things moving. That said, if we continue at a faster, more informed rate, I'll be happy to be a bit "pushier" in the good-gamer sense.
·Sorry· |
Well. I tried.
The GM for some reason choose to ignore my requests (twice, since I had already sent him a pm and he did not answered as well), and continues with the same poor one-line description.
@GM, I do not wish to play in your game anymore, please inactivate me as character.
@Others
I apologize for this drastic attitude, and hope you have fun playing.
Cyrioul Fasar |
Agreed!
Weyland Piper |
Can't ready a charge action. It's a full round action and you can only ready standard actions.
Darren has given the bandits the option surrender, so it wouldn't be honourable to preemptively attack them. As such, no point to roll anything, since I have to delay until after the bandits' turn anyways, to see what they do. :(
Derren Orlovsky |
GM Calvus, and Those in the Game,
I’m sorry to do this to you all here, but recent events in my life have put me into a position where I need to cut back on my gaming a bit. I’m still around in a few games, but I’m dropping from several. This is one of them.
My grandfather is currently in the process of dying from cancer, and it’s put a lot of stress on me. My lack of focus on this game is, in part, because of that. Additionally, Derren as a character was difficult to play, simply because I don’t consider myself to be an ass like him.
I’ve enjoyed playing with you all, and would like to play with you again someday, but this isn’t the time. Thank you for giving me the opportunity. Please move me to inactive.
I'm sorry,
Derren
Cyrioul Fasar |
Sorry to hear it, Derren. Prayers for peace during the time you have left with your grandfather.
