Speaking of reading everything...The DM mentioned above that he'd posted this in the OOC Discussion Thread, so let's take it there, and leave this thread for the game...We have a lot of strong personalities here, which has the possibility to make this an epic game, so it's best we get this settled sooner than later

Male Human Cavalier level 1

Just checking in. Still unconscious? Okay that's fine. Heck of a lot of OOC going on that I don't have the patience to read. I'm just looking for the part that says: "Germon is conscious" That's about it

For DM Imimrtl Only:

I'm running a few games myself and one thing I do is I have everyone take turns in two round increments. I post nothing til I have the actions from everyone for the rounds. Then I sum up the results in one post. Nice and easy. That's how I do things anyways. If you want an example. Look Here and This is how it looks in action. So far it works for me and I have yet to come across any problems. Usually I won't post anything significant until everyone has made one post or they have all posted moving on. That is my recommendation. You don't have to use it if you don't want to but go ahead and take any ideas you like.
Also Mathpro is back and has posted on the legacy of fire thread.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

After this battle I will be making some changes to how combat flows based upon everyone's input. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Lance dances forward and thrusts his sword deftly between the layers of leather armor that one of the lesser hobgoblins is wearing, slashing through lung and heart killing the creature instantly.

The last two hobgoblins move to attack Cael and Lance. One on each of you.

Cael: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Lance: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Finally some nice rolls for you guys!

Next round and The Slice is up first. You can easily move to flank with Lance without suffering any AoO's if you wish.

Male Human - Saves (STR +1, DEX +6, CON +2, INT+5, CHA +3) INIT: +7 (Rakish Audacity) Rouge / 3 (Swashbuckler), Passive Perception 11, AC 15, HP 24/24, HD 3/3: SPD 30, (Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, Orc, Thieves Cant

The Slice moves to flank the remaining hobgoblin, and attempts to skewer him with his trusty punching dagger.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Punching Dagger attack

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Critical confirm +2 for flanking = 14

1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Damage
1d6 ⇒ 1 Precision Damage

2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3) + 2 = 9 Critical Damage if 14 hits.

All these "lucky" rolls scare me for the future

Male Elf Cleric 2

I guess i'm next then.

Darnail will move up next to Logarth and place a hand on him as well.

Stabilize

edit: Phew, the dice were on my side for this action.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

Sorry for the absentie, but while on vacation the internet has been shotty due to lots of thunderstorms, but for the time being Logarth is here and not bleeding at the moment.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Seeing his comrades in good hands with sir elf Cael continues with his mighty swing and whirling around attacking the next hobgoblin threatening the sanctity of his "group"

Rage rounds 4/9
Raging power greatsword 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
damage 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (4, 1) + 12 = 17

apparently seeing two of his friends drop is affecting him more than he's letting on

1d20+4 Punching Dagger attack

1d20+4 Critical confirm +2 for flanking = 14

1d4+1 Damage
1d6 Precision Damage

2d4+2 Critical Damage if 14 hits.

All these "lucky" rolls scare me for the future

The Slice deftly dodges behind one of the last two Hobgoblins and the next thing anyone sees several inches of blade bursts through the creatures chest before being ripped out. The creature has a somewhat stunned look on its face while it slides to the ground dead.

No problem. Sorry you had to come back to this but at least you got a really good shot in before you went down.

Lance is up

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

I'll attack the next hobgoblin I can, preferably one that has flanking with (if that's possible)...

1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20

Damage If I hit...

1d10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

By the way, while we are fighting these hobgoblins in the room, there was some word about their version of "young", if I am not mistaken. Are they (the young goblinoids) fighting, hiding, cowering, or running?

The last hobgoblin falls beneath Lances blade. The two female hobgoblins crouch with their young. They look terrified.

You have all gained a level! cue final fantasy music! Duh duh duh duh-duh duh-duh dun!

Dice roll for hp: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
When Logarth comes to he looks around and says,"Wow been awhile since I took a shot like that." Upon seeing the boy,"Poor lad, Danail is it possible for you to heal this poor lad perhaps he can yet be saved?"
Logarth then begins to look around for signs of the other child.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Then he will loot the bodies.

Nice roll!

You notice that one of the hobgoblins had a knife wound in his side, you would guess that the boy got a hold of a blade and knifed his guard before fleeing out the back tunnel. You are sure he did not come your direction otherwise you would have seen him. As far as loot goes here is the sum total once you all strip everyone, though with your survival roll you are getting a little worried at the water levels. Pretty soon you may have to swim out. This area is raised so it is only 1 foot deep now but the rest of the areas are significantly more covered with water.

Talks-with-fists had:
Masterwork Greatsword
Breastplate
21 gold pieces, 205 silver pieces and 47 copper pieces in a leather satchel.

The flunkies have 3 sets of studded leather armor,3 longswords,3 longbows and 20 arrows each, along with 25 silver pieces.

Seems the other child fled down this tunnel. I think we should go after him and bring at least one child safely back to town."

Unconscious still, taking my HP roll anyways lol. By the way, to reach battle Herald, I'm taking a level in Bard now.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing it.

Male Elf Cleric 2

If folks are leveling now , they will wake up on their own without further healing from me, yes?

Darnail will move to the child, knowing what he will find but checking for life anyways. Sadly, he will close the eyes, and then take off his cloak to wraps the small body in.

"We won't leave him here. He will be returned to the village for burial."

edit: cael, how are you casting cure light wounds?

The Slice retrieves his thrown dagger, then retreats to a rock a bit apart from the rest of the group. He quietly lays out a leather cloth, and takes out his many daggers one-by-one, inspecting their edges for nicks, and scratches, then giving them a quick polish and edge, all the while whistling an eerie melody under his breath. He will quickly re-sheath them in a blur when the group moves forward.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Perform: Knife tricks

His excitement at the finished combat making his hands shake a bit as he tries the re-sheathing maneuver. With a slight curse he picks up his dropped throwing dagger, and sheathes his a little harder than necessary. I must learn to control these at all times...they are not toys".

Yes everyone is conscious now due to leveling to at least 1 hp.

Cael took a level of Oracle because he is working towards rage prophet. Also anyone who has not done so already please tell me what type of signature item you would like.

The battle is over and now you have a question as to where to go and what to do about the remaining hobgoblins. As I said the water is still rising and in addition to the spot where you came in there is another tunnel leading further into the mines from this room.

Male Elf Cleric 2

Okay. Does that mean all my powers refresh because we leveled? and i have no longer used 6 of my channels, 2 of my domain powers and 1 of my spells? If everyone instantly recharges when we level do we jump back to full hit points? This is different from how my tabletop group does it(which is the new stuff comes when you next rest for the night) so i'm seeking understanding to know what's what. Oh, and eh, Elven Chainmail i suppose.

edit: cael, how are you casting cure light wounds?

pure awesomeness. What you thought I was just a big dumb barbarian?

Cael will hoist Germon up much like a wolf will do with a cub and say stand up your not hurt that bad. And give him a hearty slap on the back it was good what you did but next time it might help having a bigger weapon and points to the hobgoblins greatsword.

Cure light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

now what do we do with them? pointing at the rest of the hobgoblins. And then you see the idea hit him. He picks up the leaders head and throws it in their direction.

Intimidate 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

run he bellows.

He goes to retrieve is Earthbreaker and collapses from exhaustion. Kneeling down for a good minute before standing again. Still winded.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

For DM only:
I think my signature item would be brass knuckles if they would be allowed with monk weapons and furry of blows otherwise some type of pendant perhaps from the acolytes at the temple.

Looking at the collapsed Cael, "Perhaps a bit of martial arts conditioning would do you good." Logarth bellows with laughter and then goes over to help Cael up.

No anything you have already used is still used. You also do not gain full hp when you level. For instance you have still used 6 channels, etc. but now if you have say 7 channels per day you would essentially have one left for today.

Male Elf Cleric 2

But if i gain a level in a spellcasting class I suddenly gain memorised spells and abilities that i didn't have access to seconds before? That is weird to me and makes no sense from my perspective, but alright then! you're the dm!

Memorized spells are different. Those you would not get until you were able to memorize them. But you could use the unprepared slots for cure spells if you are a cleric or summon natures ally if you are a druid that sort of thing.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

Logarth begins to snarl a bit,"If we be going after the lad that is alive I wager that we best be movin as I have little desire to become a buoy. Also I once again persist that those of you who wear armor remove it before we be swimming." Logarth says and looks very proud of the fact that he does not have to disarmor himself.

Male Human Gunslinger, 1

I say nothing, but pick up the boy that has been butchered and hold him. I have sheathed my sword and I walk up the tunnel that they have indicated.

How heavy is the boy?

I do not look proud, or happy, or really much of anything. My expression is neutral, and my eyes flat. I turn to Darnail.

"|Brother, my services are entirely inconsiquential to the disocovery of the other child, and to the assistence of whatever may stand in the way of his rescue, should it need be completed. Thou art correct in thy request to return him to a true place of burial, however. I shall, therefore, take him with me now to the place of his fathers so that he me may be looked after. If thy discover the other lad, please do thy best to see that he is well taken after. I would not have him perish as this one did,|"I add.

Then I turn and walk back up the tunnel, carrying the boy to where the chains are that we climbed. I will do what I can to get the boy to the top; my intention is to bind the body securely, climb the chain and pull his body up with rope fastened under his arms, then carry him back to the village.

They don't really need my help to find the other boy, and if the water is comming down hard, then getting the body out of the water now is better now then later.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

Upon Lance's speech to Darnail and subsequent exit Cael will add Hmph, So Sir Elf what did he say? Are we no longer seeking out the children? Cael says as he starts doffing his armor. He then looks at his armor and you see his face almost sadden as he lays his sword with the rest of the stuff and withdraws a dagger.

If nothing else is said, upon removal of the hides on his chest the nasty gash on his chest quite visible and still bleeding. He grips his dagger in his and plunges into the river.

In reply to Lance:

"|While i am glad you agree with me as to the boy needing to be returned, you do yourself a disservice in saying you are inconsequential to the other child. Without everyone, i think we all may have fallen in this chamber. I cannot say what else lies further, but my instincts say that we have not weathered everything and i would ask that you stay with us. I would like to return the boy and the ghost's body both to town for last rights and burial. Yet, as saddened by this fate as i am, Brith's words come to me. 'It is Right to mourn those that have passed, but it is important to not neglect those who still Live.' Another child's life still hangs in the balance, and we should endeavor to make sure a tragedy like this does not befall him as well. Please stay and help us.|

That having been said, Darnail will not press the issue any further, and should Lance choose to depart, he will understand why he does so, and not stop him.

In reply to Cael.

"He feels great remorse over the loss of the child, as do many. We need to find the other, before things get worse down here."

AFAIK, unless i got this wrong from leveling up as well, you would have gained your HP from leveling and not be only at 3hp?

Darnail will appear solemn, and look around the room at the others, silently assessing their condition.

Could i get a summary of how hurt everyone is before we leave this room?

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

Logarth has 6 hp currently
Aye a watery grave is no good for any person let alone a young boy. My vote is to find the other so that we can at least return one boy whole."
Logarth slips off his wooden sandles and plunges down into the waist deep water.
"Master Cael seems I wasn't the only one to take a good slashin' seems like you will have a scar across your chest while mine...mine across the back. We have indeed shared much. I shall buy you a stiff drink when we get back to town and perhaps tell a story or two."

Male Human Cavalier level 1

After Cael hoists Germon up and points at the sword. Germon is in a state of bewilderment. He looks around. "I am still alive, I have all my gear, and somehow the boy and the goblins are all dead." He listened to the barbarian suggest the sword. Germon waved a hand in dismissal. "I have no need of such a weapon. My families blade is sharp enough. If anything needs improving it is my own skill with it." Germon glances at the battlefield once more. "I assume things didn't work out like I had hoped. The beast was stronger than me and was therefore the better man. Though I am saddened by the loss of the boy, I cannot help but feel I've learned something from this exchange. Every battle we walk away from we learn something." Germon will touch his sword with a spell and it will illuminate. "Finally, I got that confounded trick to work. Magic is a tricky feat indeed. I'm glad I got it working." Germon will then attempt to heal his injuries.

Cure light woulds:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

I'm assuming Germon can cast these spells right off the bat since Cael was able to.

Germon will then nod. "A proper service is necessary. We need to move quickly less we lose another young one. I will not proceed until everyone is ready to." With that Germon will collect his lantern and stow it in his bag. Hoisting his shield and glowing sword, Germon waits for the others to follow.

Yet, thy words speak to the heart. For the sake of he that lives, I shall come with thee, for now. As usual, the wisdom of thy people has shed much light on the shadow of folly.|"

I gently lay the boy the ground, but before he slides under the water I kiss his brow softly. I have no love for child murderers, or those who would slay the innocent with reckless abandon. Placing my hand to my hilt I draw my blade from the sheath and indicate that he lead on; if so, I shall follow.

Male Elf Cleric 2

"Logarth, Brith's Mercy shall ease your pain."

CLW

1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

(this assumes Cael has the 7 hp from leveling and is at a 10 total currently)

Concentrating one again, he will let the Light flow over everyone nearby.

Channel Energy, should effect Cael, Germon, and Logarth.

1d6 ⇒ 5

After all that, he will square his shoulders and give a look to the others that he has done all he will do here and is ready to move on.

"Let us delay no further, and find this other child. Thank you for waiting for me."

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

If we automatically gained the hp then Cael is at 10/21 with the channel 15/21

At Lance's and Darnail's exchange he merely raises an eyebrow, now is not the time to let on that he was finally able to understand the Elf tongue. He merely utters hpmh.

@lograth. Thanks my friend that will be wel needed.

Before plunging into the water he prays before his sword. Lo there do I see my father. Lo there do I see my mother and my sisters and my brothers. Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo, they do call to me, they bid me take my place among them, in the Halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live...forever.

One quick question, what do you want to do with the hobgoblin women and children? Are you leaving them to their own devices?

As you press into the water it goes up to near your shoulders. The tunnel progresses and all of a sudden the ceiling dips into the water and if you wish to proceed you will have to swim. You cannot tell how far you will have to swim in order to get to the next air pocket.

Ok you all get to the tunnel and see that it dips down underwater, you are all going to need to swim to the next air pocket. It is close enough so you do not need to make swim checks. When you are underwater you notice that the tunnel has a branch that goes off to the right deeper under water and ends at what appears to be an unfinished section of tunnel. Directly ahead in the tunnel there appears a air pocket and once you break the surface you see that the tunnel reaches a dead end. Huddled in the darkness that is broken only by your light is a small boy of about 8. He seems terrified and has his hands over his ears as if blocking out a sound. Right before you speak you start to hear something as well.

Nice, I like this survey, very thorough.
Now, do I just make up most of this stuff or is there some kind of guide book I need to look at. So far all I have is the Ashar wiki site. That gives loose information about the lands and gods of the world but not many names of families or cities.

Very nice survey. I will fill it out for you tonight when I have more time. Need to read a little more from the wikki page before I can answer some of those questions.

There are some capitals and stuff like that but for the most part it is fairly open. Jehannum has a few major cities and I'll give you some of the detail on that here

Jehannum Info:
Crom Calamar is the capital of Jehannum. Every citizen goes armed, because only people who can fight are counted as citizens. The Iron Dukes are in charge. These are nine of the city’s finest, elected by the citizens, who meet up at Burgenstoch to decide policy. By long-established tradition, every Iron

Duke wears an iron mask when appearing in public or before strangers, to protect his identity and to emphasise that his office is not the same thing as his personality. Jehannum is the most stable nation in all of Eastern Ashfar. As far as personality goes, Jehannum is very militaristic in all aspects of their lives. A newcomer to the city will often find himself challenged to a fight, not for malice but because that is how the people of Jehannum find out if the person is a decent fellow or not. Refusing to fight or using magic is considered a gross insult to the challenger. The fights are almost always bare knuckle or weapon to first blood, but rarely is someone killed. There is no law against dueling but killing your opponent is looked down upon highly. Crom Calamar is the capital but there are several other major cities, Vorgsbund, Nebelkir, Dun Brondel, and Esveltarn.

Ok, Here is my completed survey. Kind of elaborate. I hope this is all the information you need, if it isn't or I happen to make something unclear let me know. If there is anything you don't like in particular about my character, I am open to criticism and if something doesn't fit with the story or campaign, or even something you or the group really don't want to deal with, I'll change it. I am going to take the Houndmaster archetype so I am going to reorganize my sklils, just a smitch. One more note about my character, he has his beliefs and they are strong but these beliefs do not extend to those who are know to be common criminals or bandits. If a group of Drow were to jump out and attempt to mug him, he would defend himself violently without regret or a second thought. This is going to be fun

Germon Background:

Background
Where was your character born?
-In Jehannum in the city of Crom

Who raised him?
-His uncle, Javal Falleyas and an centuries old drow woman name Suspanna
What was happening in the region when your character was growing up?
- Not a whole lot, much was growth and development of land and military to keep Visk at bay and to continue the head hunt for any drow that may still lurk in the area.
Does your character have any relatives?
-His parents, Terval and Gina Falleyas, his uncle and his Grandmother Bethany Falleyas.
Motivation
What are your character’s immediate goals? What would he like to do in the coming
year?
-Learn more about the world and make an honest living for a while. He will take any opportunity to explore or learn something new. Especially if it allows him to learn more about the Drow or Elves.
What are his long-term goals?
-To create his own kingdom. If the opportunity were to present itself, he’d love to conquer his homeland.
What type of person would be his ideal mate?
-A stong supportive person who would be by his side, even in battle. He currently isn’t looking for a spouse but his fascination with the Drow might yield some possibilities. The kindest person to him growing up was a female Drow.
Who is his patron deity? Is he a devout worshiper?
- He is highly philosophical. He believes in hard work and if he were to devote himself to anything, it would be furthering his cause.
Is he a devout member of any nonreligious cause?
- Oh yes. Good old fashioned self-reliance as well as a healthy reliance on his friends
Is there any race, creed, alignment, religion or the like against which he is strongly
prejudiced?
- He is skeptical of elves but he wants to understand them better. He believes everything has a place and there is no room for prejudice. Though he will act in the sense of what he believes is right regardless of rules or alignments. (Usually he will attack evil so long as he understands them first)
What is his greatest fear?
- His greatest fear is being Helpless. He hates not being able to act on his beliefs, defend or save a person he cares about, or not be able to defend himself (this also ties into his hydropbia)
What is the one task he absolutely refuses to do?
- enact justice on someone because of prejudice. If there is no evidence of a crime, then there is absolutely no need to harshly.
Idiosyncrasies
What is your character’s motto or favorite saying?
- Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
What is his favorite color?
-Gold, it is pure and refined
Describe what he would wear if money were no object?
- Regal armor or royal clothing. (He’d wear it even if he weren’t a king…..or even a leader for that matter)
What is his favorite food? Drink?
- He likes seafood. He is also a fan of white wines.
What is his favorite animal?
-(Houndmaster) Dogs of course, most loyal soldiers he’s ever had.
What habits of his friends annoy him most?
- When people gossip about a person or race they have never met.
What well-known media figure from sports, movies or politics most closely
resembles your character?
- Truth is I have no idea. I’ve been making characters for over 12 years and usually draw from all sorts of sources. If anything he kind of resembles Thor from the Marvel movie. He definitely looks like Thor. There is some personality similarities and traits. Germon is impulsive to an extent but were Germon in Thor’s shoes in the movie, he would have sought to have a peaceful meeting with the frost giants and not start a war. Yeah I’d say he closely resembles Thor from the Movie.
What would be his theme song?
-Hero by Skillet. He is a hero (Corny I know but fun)
If his friends were to write his epitaph, what would it be?
- He led us and died for us. His life was dedicated to changing the way we all perceive each other. He treats everyone will equality and fairness. He fought for a future that was seen as impossible. Maybe his memory will encourage others to continue this battle for a fair and equal world.
What would be his job in modern society?
- Politics of course. Not the field I like but it’s what he’d want.
Introduction Questions
Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or aliases?
- Germon the Just. Germon the rebel without an army. His uncle always like to call him Ermon and he is fond of the name Dipzaer which is a Drow name given to him by Suspanna, his Drow mentor.
What is your full birth name?
-Germon Gallantious Falleyas
Where do you live?
-At the present he lives in a monastery Murduk Ram
Why do you live there?
- Is away from his homeland. He is there to find wisdom and hone his battle skills. Though he doesn’t plan to stay to long.
What is your citizenship status?
- Used to be a citizen of Jehannum but now he is just a wanderer.
What is your most obvious blessing or strength?
- Leadership and Charisma.
What is your most obvious flaw or weakness?
- Naivety, he knows little of how people really are and the outside world. it has cost him his home.
Was there any event or cause to cause these weaknesses?
- To some degree, ignorance and a presumptuous behavior. He was sheltered for the most part. He believed everything he was told and not witnessing anything.
Physical Traits
What is your general body type, frame, bone structure, and poise?
- Though he is an exile, he is in excellent physical shape. He has muscle but prone to damage.
What is your skin colour?
-White
What is your hair colour?
-Blonde
What is your hair style?
- Shoulder length wavy
Do you have any facial hair?
- He has a beard but it is usually trimmed and well kept. It’s blonde to (duh)
What is your eye colour?
- Green
Does it change?
- Only if someone hits him in the eye then one of his eyes or both may go black
How attractive are you?
- Looks, he is quite attractive by human standards. He had many girls vying for the chance to be Lady Falleyas.
What is your most distinguishing feature?
- A charming and alluring smile. Makes you feel comfortable around him.
Do you have any scars, tattoos, or birthmarks?
- He has a scare aross the top of his left eye. At 15 he challenged an outsider to a duel and not (First blood) The duelist gave him that scare. That was the only duel he had ever lost. He only had like 6 in his whole life though.
What is your handedness (left/right)?
- Left handed. Catches some warriors off guard.
Do you resemble some currently known person?
- The guy who played Thor in the movie.
Do you wear a uniform?
-He does, he custom made his own insignia while staying at the monastery a circle containing a pentagon with five unique swords in each pointing from the center to a corner of the pentagon. When he gets enough money he’ll have a custom made more professional looking uniform.
What kind of clothing do you wear?
- Usually wears armor or fine clothing. Doesn’t particularly like wearing travel garb but finds it necessary to keep his good clothes from getting ruined.
History
Where is your homeland?
-Jehannum
Did you have any childhood friends?
-Bennian Harrimond, His favorite sparing partner, rival, and good friend. He did not go with Germon when he fled the country. Germon never got a chance to ask why he didn’t come but thought it might be for his family.
What conflicts might arise from your past?
- He openly declared war on the council of dukes branding him a traitor and a rebel. He is to be killed on site and his head brought to the council. They fear his leadership abilities. Thought he is just a boy he could be a great threat in the future. There is a reward for his head and it stands until he is proven dead. Bounty hunters from both Jehannum and Visk might come after him. (Visk may not want him dead however, they could use him thought he doesn’t care for their government)
Do you have any sort of criminal record?
- Fraternizing with Drow terrorists. And Treachery.
.
Family
Who were your parents?
- (Thought I answered this question) Traval and Gina Falleyas
What did your parents and/or foster parents do for a living?
- Traval is the youngest son in his family but the most successful as a general. His mother was into politics as an advisor. (Not sure how the kingdom views women in the workforce, especially government.)
Are they still alive?
-Yes and very ashamed of their son. They didn’t really raise him and would not hesitate to slay him if it’d bring honour back to their name.
Personality/Beliefs
Do you, or did you, have any role models?
- Suspanna and his uncle Javal Falleyas
Do you have any great rational or irrational fears or phobias?
- As a boy he was bit by a snake while swimming for the first time in a local pond. He has also heard stories of monsters dwelling in lakes and the ocean. As a result he has hydrophobia to some degree. If he cannot see the bottom of a mass of water more that a foot deep, he freezes and may need to make a will save to pass through. This fear has also made it difficult for him to learn to swim.
What, if anything, would it take for you to be able to overcome this?
- Someone he cares about being in danger. Otherwise I’d say a will save or a great deal of encouragement by his fellows.
How do you react when this fear manifests itself?
- Freeze and wastes time trying to find a way to avoid the obstacle. He doesn’t like boats much either. He fears falling overboard and having to swim in a large body of water in which he cannot see the bottom. He’s likely start hyperventilating given that circumstance.
Are you willing to discuss, or even admit to, the situation?
- Absolutely not! Last thing he wants is for the people he is with to know he has weaknesses he hasn’t overcome.
What are your attitudes regarding material wealth?
- It is a tool he can use to achieve his goals.
Do you have any unusual or nervous mannerisms, such as when talking, thinking,
afraid, under stress, or when embarrassed?
- When he’s thinking he talks to himself, even to the point of arguing with himself loudly. When talking he speaks clearly and and very direct. Though he learned to charm ladies. He does find their attraction to him amusing. Under stress he says little and usually takes moments to stop and breath. When he’s embarrassed he sounds as though he’s forcing himself to speak until he can shake embarrassment. He’s usually pretty good at pushing embarrassment aside. Unless it’s a pretty girl coming onto him. Then he tends to struggle to find words.
What is your most treasured possession?
-The Bastard Sword his uncle gave him before he was exiled. His uncle was the only person left in the kingdom who didn’t see Germon as a traitor but a man who sought to better himself and his country.
Do you have a good luck charm?
- He has a small trinket given to him by Suspanna before she was executed. He had it made into a necklace after he fled the kingdom of Jehannum. It isn’t so much a good luck charm as it is a reminder of his mentor and a symbol to help remind him of his goals.
Describe your worst nightmares.
- His worst nightmares are being helpless and unable to defend himself and others. Running from some horror but never able to get away from it. Or watching his friends die and being unable to do anything about it. The one nightmare that haunts him most is watching Suspanna’s execution and being unable to stop it.

Ok if you need more of a back story let me know, or call and I can elaborate. This was done in between the studying for my final tomorrow and my run.

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

aka Slice.

Really hectic week, but I've got some downtime on Saturday, and I'll get this knocked out. Really looking forward to this adventure, and playing with you guys. I think we've got a good crowd here.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

This is Shanosuke, I am now posting under my Alias for this campaign.

I forgot some minor but important details under motivation.

His motivation also includes trying to do whatever it takes to make a name for himself and the money necessary to acquire a base and potentially an army. (He wants a good name) Also to explore any Drow communities he may find along the way.

Here is my character survey: If you have any questions just let me know.

For DM:
My character was born to a orc tribal leader in the mountains surrounding Crom Calamar. He was so big and strong that at the young age of 8 years old be became a prize fighter and was essentially raised by his trainer a human named Etter Fallenbridge. His father's tribe was very militaristic in nature and there was always open conflict with someone, and that is the reason that he got his son out of there and into prize fighting as a means to escape that life until he was grown enough to handle himself. Logarth does not know who his mother is, but he assumes that his mother was a slave or captive his father took during one campaign. His siblings were all killed before Logarth was born. He assumes it was due to the constant wars his father's tribe was raging, but it was due to this fact that his father tried to have Logarth escape his village.
Motivation:
His immediate goal would be to prove to himself that he is more than just a fighter that killed someone in the ring. He is constantly struggling with overcomming his brutal and violent nature. In the coming year Logarth would like to find adventure and take his mind off his past that haunts him. His long term goals would be to raise up in the ranks of his church and eventually establish a monostary perhaps in his home region to take in other vagabonds and rejects like he was. His ideal mate would be someone who understands that there is violence in the world, but does not relish in this fact and would look to provide solice to those who seek it. His patron diety is Aranu and he is very devout and is currently an acolyte seeking to prove himself to move up in the ranks of the church. The only nonreligious cause that Logarth finds attractive would be to give a place of refuge and solice for those who have none. Since finding Aranu he seeks to rid himself of prejudice as he was once looked down upon. His greatest fear is that he is nothing more than a cold blooded killer and that he will eventually relent to his primal urges. Logarth has done many things as a vagabond and so the only thing he refuses to do anymore is cleaning chamber pots.
Idiosyncracies
Logarth's motto is strength of mind can overcome any wall or obsticle. His favorite color is blue as he always fought in blue shorts and it reminds him to stay calm and overcome his primal nature. If money was no object he would wear what he wears now simple navy and light blue gui with wooden sandles. His favorite food his braised pork with roasted turnips and beets. His favorite drink is ale, he prefers the seasonal brews. His favorite animal is cats of prey specifically the black panther. He really has no friends, but the thing that annoys him most is prejudices that exclude or look down upon someone. I would say that Mike Tyson or the Hulk would most closely resemble my character, but that is the side of him he fights to control. His theme song would be the Rocky Theme Song. His epitaph would be he was strong, tolerant, but violent at times. His job in modern society would be MMA fighter / martial arts trainer.
Introduction:
While a prize fighter he fought under the name of The Tusked Terror, but when people see him now they call him Champ, or Murderer. His full given name is Logarth Stoneherd. He currently lives in Crom Calamar at the monostary there. He lives there because that is the only place that would take him in after he killed a man in the ring. He is a vagabond and really accepted nowhere, but his home village as a citizen. His most obvious strength is his natural strength and discipline. His most glaring weakness is his sometimes brutal and violent nature. The cause of this weakness is most likely the brutal and violent nature of his father and their militaristic nature.
Physical Description:
Logarth stands at over 7' tall 7'1 to be exact. He is very muscular in build with very little in terms of body fat. He is large even for someone of his height with broad shoulders. The way he walks you can tell that he is a very dangerous man. His movements are almost serpent like in nature and very fluid. His skin color is a pale green that has tanned from years of work in the sun. His hair is black as night and is kept in a single long top knot the rest of his head is bald. He has well groomed full goatee that is medium in length (just long enough to be soft, but not long enough to pull). His eyes are red just like those of his father, but they soften as he meditates and harden in color when he fights. Logarth looks more orc than human with medium sized tusks protruding from his mouth and is thus not considered attractive by most. Aside from his size and snakelike motions his most distinctive feature are his large tusks. Logarth has a few scars on his face (below his left eye and above his right eye) from his days as a prize fighter. He also has tattoos running down the blades of his forearms (reminding him of his creed) and a large tattoo on his back depicting the mark of his father's clan. Logarth is primarily right handed, but due to his training can do everything with either hand. He does not resemble any known person. He does not wear any uniform, but does wear a simple blue gui with medium blue pants, and a medium blue and navy blue top.
History:
His homeland is the mountains around Crom Calamar. He has no childhood friends that are still alive (that he knows of) as most of them have been killed in the constant conflict. The only conflict that may arise is people seeking retribution for me killing a man in the ring as for his criminal record he was never charged, but he did kill a man.
Family:
Logarth does not know who his mother is and if she lives, but he knows his father is alive and is a tribal chief. But the man who practically raised him Etter Fallenbridge is still alive and Logarth does keep in touch with him via letters.
Personality:
At one point Logarth looked up to and wanted to be like his father, but as he fought and that brutal and violent side came out he decided he did not want to be exactly like his father. But he still looks up to Etter because he spends his life training others and trying to better their lives for it. The only thing that Logarth fears is himself and loosing control. It takes training of body and mind and constant meditation to overcome that side of him. When he feels himself start to loose control he tries to shut down and meditate. Logarth prefers not to discuss his fear of himself, but does so with some of his most trusted people (i.e Etter and the Priests of his monostary). He is unusual for a half orc as he is very well spoken, but when nervous his language reverts back to a more gutteral orcish type speech. He also is constantly on edge some would say a little jumpy. Logarth cares nothing for material wealth, but is trying to save his money as to be able to buy a book with which to start his own monostary. His most treasured possession is a medalion that he wears around his neck signifying his time as a champion. His good luck charm are in fact his tattoos. His worst nightmare is reliving that fateful night in the ring where he killed a man.

Male to kill the six fingered man Duelist/20 years

Hey Erefine. Really great job with the survey. The only thing I would change is your location. Jehannum is a military state that affords its citizens a measure of freedom and generally lets them leads their lives but stamps out any disruptive influences ruthlessly. Tribes of orcs would not be tolerated, especially not so close to Crom Calamar. A suggestion would be to move his home to Urmish which has a large orc and goblinoid population and would be perfect for multiple tribes warring with one another. From there you could have moved down to Murduk Ram through Visk or Kahoon. Other than that I like the prize fighter aspect, almost like a bare-knuckle boxer or pit fighter.

No problem whatsoever, happy to have you! BTW if anyone is using Herolab to create your characters if you could send me the portfolio file that would help me out a lot. That way I dont have to remake each of your characters and only have to make the ones that dont use Herolab. You can send them to imimrtl@gmail.com

Hi everyone! One more thing for everyone. You all have a birthmark in the vague shape of your starsign somewhere on your body. It can be small or large in plain view or hidden. It is up to you but you all need to have it and it needs to be at least as big as the palm of your hand. It is greyish in color but other than being a weird mark, there is nothing special about it at this time.

Dang guys, I got left in the dust. So what happens to characters who can't keep up? I shudder to ask really

I wouldn't worry too much. I think it was a bit of 1st day eagerness on many parts. I myself was surprised by today's pace compared to the others i have been in/seen.

My personal plan for when i miss other people's posting blocks will be to do a "summary" of my characters thoughts/reactions and into the "now" and just keep going. As long as you meet the recruitment guideline (which was 1-2 times a day i believe?) i doubt there would be a problem. I'd not have any complaints on my end as it were. so don't worry!

Yeah sorry about that. It was first day excitement. The pacing will slow up a bit, I will make sure no one is left behind or anything like that though.

I'll apologize too. It was my only release that weekend on a 70 hour work week on top of 30 hours of school. Needed something of a relaxation.

I would make an alias, but I don't know how...lol

If you go to "my account", the 4th block down should have say something like "message board aliases."

Hey Slice, sorry about the disrespect. While Logarth is intelligent for a half-orc, he is a half-orc after all.

I am with Slice in that perhaps a talk of tactics is in order. Both Slice and I can stealth and sneak attack damage is always helpful especially in a surprise round. Just my two cents.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

My tactics in a nutshell...

HEY!!! LOOK AT ME!!!
SMASH!!!

Which would be fine if there were no other players in the game. It really messes up other peoples concepts if you do that every time. Everybody might as well make barbarian type characters then.

Male Human Cavalier level 1

I am a teamwork character. I like flanking badguys or extending my shield to cover an nearby ally with a +2 AC as an immediate action. Germon was keeping close to Slice as he entered the room (Germon isn't aware that he wasn't being stealthy though) In my head, I'd be right next to Slice, I'd offer a +2 to slice's AC. I can do that when it's not my turn.

Male Half-Orc Monk level 1

Slice I can be your flanking buddy when we stealth somewhere so you can get a surprise round with sneak attack.

I think the issue here is we need to be more patient. I know PbP can be a little slow to develop sometimes, but everybody will get their time to shine.

It's OK to let the stealthy players take a couple of days to scout ahead, and your character do nothing. By just raging in you're basically saying, "Bah, your characters mean nothing to me I just want to fight". As I mentioned earlier we could all make Barbarian characters...and all be killed just as quickly. We must keep in mind that PbP is slower paced than RL games...which is not a bad thing.

The slower pace requires patients, but it allows for more detailed "ROLE" playing, because you can take your time with responses, and to develop personality. We currently don't allow for that. We had a couple of players that wanted to take the time to do some role playing with the village leader, the shopkeepers, and the serving girl, but we were wrenched from that by players eager to battle.

For Instance in the previous example it would have been prudent to let The Slice and Logarth methodically examine the rooms before entry. Chances are we could have dispatched the hobgoblin while he lays sleeping. Now things worked out OK, but The Slice would not have taken an attack in the meantime. The over aggressive players are as much to blame for his wound as the Hobgoblin. If this had been a critical hit...you would have been responsible for his death. I realize you're playing your characters personalty, but this is a game with other players and you have to give them room to play their characters as well. Chances are the characters would have never made it to adulthood if that was their real personality.

On the other hand if we had scouted ahead and found a dozen Hobgoblins sleeping, we would have come back to the party, made preparations, and the warriors could be set loose. Then I'd step back and let your guys do what your best at. You can't relegate the other characters to ineffective targets because your guy is ultra aggressive.

It's almost like there is a bunch of crazed rabid dogs trying to rush through one small opening in the fence to attack either the postman, or a tank...no idea because you haven't seen it coming, and believe me the dog that attacks the tank can't win.

People also wander off on their own without scouting abilities, which invites falling into a trap, or having 2-3 battles going on at once which spells TPK.

I don't want to be in the spotlight all the time, but my character is good at advance scouting to let the rest of the party know what's ahead. After that I'll willingly step aside and let those best suited deal with what's ahead.

I'm willing to give this a chance but I'll not keep playing if it's going to become a race instead of a planned "Group" encounter. Which would be a shame, because I really like this character, and have always wanted to play this adventure series. But I want to play it, not hack my way through it.

In concept that is a great idea, but your character is not stealthy. Logarth would be a much better scouting partner. Your abilities are wonderful once the battle is joined, but not when we're supposed to be determining what the situation is.

I actually happen to agree with Slice on this one, the point is for each character to shine and just like in a normal battle situation you should operate off as much intel as you can get your hands on (yes that means actaully taking the time to role play out your character with other npc and group members while that intel is being gathered.) We got lucky this time, but everyone going in different directions and charging in everywhere is a recipe for disaster.

Male Human Barbarian 1/Oracle 1

hey not so quick to judge there. If you recall I was doing pretty well in talking to the bartender and was content to stay there and grab more information. Also there was more stuff I wanted to take care of at the shrine but when everyone runs ahead. I am going to catch up and be a part of the party. You are attempting to condemn a barbarian for doing what he does when in reality I posted multiple actions that my character would do if he couldn't reach the hobgoblin. Perhaps it might be better for an introspective approach on how can I use the loud guy to my advantage, perhaps I could distract while you flank and "steal" the kill. That would lead to more RP as well. It's not really tactics its the learning curve involved on how the other characters will respond in a given situation. Also take note that there have been 0 rounds of rage.

If he wants to be the stealthy character let him try maybe he will get good at it just needs to learn the necxessary skills.
