And in a brutally ironic stab to the chest, my post about how I only post with my phone gets lost. >_<
Long story short, I only use my phone and putting in bold brackets for every time he speaks would be incredibly stressful with my phone's keyboard.
Good thing about phone is that I usually respond quickly.
Bad thing is that it has a tendency to lose posts and is difficult to format.
Ergo, my profiles are just simple enough for me to get the info I need. Nothing fancy and no good set up. It's all just there, somewhere.
I will set speech apart with spaces like I'm doing with these sentences. Separate actions and speech, including pronouns after speech (which destroys the soul of my inner Grammar Nazi, by the way) are on different lines.
But, I /have/ been doing pbp for a couple years now, so I mostly know what I'm doing. :)
I hope this won't slow people down too much.
Also, character sheet should be finished. Let me know if I missed anything important.
I mostly post from my phone too. Yeah, it's a pain. I might switch to the "" format instead.

Is there any equipment I can borrow from my church? Like a warhorse or some platemail?
Chalk it up to an advantage of being a paladin. You too can get good equipment from the church providing you're of outstanding moral character and are willing to submit your life and soul to Sarenrae. :)

If you're taking the item route, well.
Probobly, but /you actuslly have to find a way to return it when you're done/, or pay for it.
After the reincaration shenanagens.

Why would someone not try to return the church's rightful property? I can't think of any reason why anyone would be so selfish as to keep what's not rightfully theirs.
Looks knowingly at Edgar

Hey now, that stuff was in the past, I only steal now if it would be for the greater good!

Also, to the cleirc-
If the wand is the only reason you're taking normal weath, you could work in a number of heals per day into your item.
It is the main reason I went with wealth for level, but if you will incorporate some healing charges into an item, I'm all for it. I think a heavy shield possibly with a holy symbol of sarenrae and maybe some powers or protections against undead. She hates undead. I'm thinking as part of her history, her mother was raised as a zombie and she had to put it down, hardest thing she's had to do in her eyes. I may even tie the item into her backstory before her father remarried.

Ok, I think my character is ready.
Stats in profile, along with a rough background. Hoping we'll flush out the rest of our backgrounds in character like Sarrissa and I have done so far.

A bit of story for my character to tie in other characters:
Fray was born into a rather wealthy family. As he grew, he became obsessed with himself, despite how others viewed him. He took great care of himself, but soon he wanted for more. He began researching ways to enhance himself; to become even more beautiful. He stumbled upon the art of alchemy and became instantly entranced. He read of gained physical prowess, enhanced powers of persuasion, and even a few instances of slowing or even stopping the aging process. He found a tutor and began training immediately.
During the course of his studies, he found that a special plant that only grew in a specific swamp was required for his research. He hired a few bodyguards to accompany him to the swamp, as he did not trust local merchants to supply him with what he needed at a reasonable cost.
I like it! So Edgar and Chris could be two of your bodyguards, is anyone else traveling with you or guarding you?

Aside from a few people's, I'm gonna be public about item development.
In development-
Blessed wedding token (would like to know what, exactly, the token is, for some features)
Sheild of the dawnflower
Katana of storms
---------
Need more info-
Castell, I've got no clue.
Magic (decision on if you want the mantle or not)
-------
Hasn't requested one yet-
The perfectionist alchemist,
-------
Hidden in pm-
Lord foul's item.

Merek Montague |

Connections so far:
Merek is married to Sarrissa with Castell as the best man.
Sarrissa is half-sibling to Castell.
Castell was in the church choir at Merek's church.
Zvaris and Merek were close childhood friends and have recently rekindled their friendship as adults.
Edgar and Chris work or have worked together protecting caravans and rich folk.
Fray was one of those rich folk that hired Edgar and Chris (perhaps he acquired this contract because he's good friends with Chris' extended family?)
I'd like to have it be a member of Chris' family that rescued Merek when he was young.
I think it would also be good to have a connection between Fray, Chris, and/or Edgar with Zvaris.

Katana of Storms, I love that =D
I honestly don't know much about item creation or balancing, but it would be cool if like once a day at whatever level would be acceptable, it gave a haste effect, and maybe a movement bonus or something at lower levels, maybe a cold energy ranged touch attack or something, I dunno lol

Progress made in he last five minutes-
Katana of storms-
The katana of storms is a +1 katana.
1st level-
An astoundingly light and well balanced katana, that can be used with the weapon finesse feat.
3rd level-
The wielder of the katana never has their vision obscured by natural weather.
5th level-
The katana gains the shocking weapon enchanment.

It's the length of silk she's tying around his arm.

Maybe a ring that can also be worn on a necklace to occupy the neck slot, or a scarf that you could wrap around almost any location...I think the scarf would really fit.

Katana of storms-
The katana of storms is a +1 katana.
The katana, if all the pieces are present, can be reformed by leaving it out in a thunderstorm. When the storm ends, all the pieces will have returned.
1st level-
An astoundingly light and well balanced katana, that can be used with the weapon finesse feat.
3rd level-
The wielder of the katana never has their vision obscured by natural weather.
5th level-
The katana gains the shocking weapon enchanment. At 10th level, this becomes shocking burst.
7th level-
The wielder of the katana is unnaturally light, and can walk on objects that are barely solid- he gains a +10 to acrobatics, and with a DC 30 acrobatics check, can walk on water at half his normal speed.
9th level-
Magical weather no longer obsucres your vision. You can rig smoke bombs to produce fog instead of smoke, allowing you to see through it.
11th level-
The katana gains the speed weapon enchantment.
13th level-
The weapon becomes more unnaturally well balanced- it's enchantment bounus increases by two.
15th level-
The wielder's movement speed doubles. Once a day, when the wielder would be killed or knocked out by an attack, as an immediate action he can become a thin mist, and move up to twenty feet, negating the attack. Until the start of his next turn, he is under the effects of a gaseous form spell.
17th level-
The weapon's balance becomes perfect- it is now a +5 weapon.
19th level-
The katana itself can call huge, wrathful storms- once a day, you can cast call lighting storm, with rain so thick it obscures vision like create fog in it's entire range.
The sword itself takes the move action to call a lighting bolt every round.

I have to say, Ice, your magic item design is quite good. Thank you for doing this.

Zveris Pilvo |

I actually saw a whole forum about magic item uses for a hankie. Was pretty cool. Most were silly. Some were thoughtful and cool.
With the cloak, as cool as it is, there are a couple things that make it not fit him.
1. I choose for him to not be religious at all. This ties in with how he relates to some people. He's not anti-religious. He's just not religious. His experience with the church hasn't been the best.
2. It does a lot about the moon type stuff and the thing with the silver. He already shifts into animals, and after he becomes a crazy new monster race, I don't want to make him so werewolf-y too. It's weird, but I've done a were before, and I don't want to do so much of a repeat.

Well, they did take away his best friend.

icehawk333 |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

How's this looking-
The wedding token-
1st level-
The wedding token is indestructible and perpetually clean so long as the person who it was given to lives.
The wedding token, if need be, thanks to it's indestructible state, is actually a usable whip or rope when unwrapped from the arm, that the person who it was gifted to is automatically proficient in. It cannot be used to tie up a target.
3rd level-
Hero- the scarf has 5 hero points in it- once there are consumed, they cannot be used again. If any of these points are used to cheat death, only one is consumed.
5th level-
Devotion-
Once a day, you can add a +2 morale bouns to any one attack roll, save, or skill check made in combat. If you are below half your maximum hp, this increases by 3.
This can be used an additional time at 10th and 15th level.
7th level-
Retribution-
You gain a +5 to damage rolls against foes who have struck your spouse deliberately within the same combat. This only applies if the spouse was the intended target- getting hit with secondary damage, such as splash damage, doesn't count.
Protective-
In addition, when you stand adjacent to your spouse, you both gain soft cover.

Merek Montague |

That's fantastic. Is the protective feature a part of the 7th level ability or is it always on? Can't tell based on the wording.

Merek Montague wrote:That's fantastic. Is the protective feature a part of the 7th level ability or is it always on? Can't tell based on the wording. Was intended to be seventh, but it might work better as cosmtant.
I concur. In relation to the katana of storms, it's a little weak as is. The hero points make up for a bit of it, even if they are limited. Having the protective status makes it more solid.
I think having it add some sort of bonus to armor or making the hero points regenerative (maybe 5 per year) would balance it out quite nicely. The 5 per year wouldn't help in game at all (as most games don't last the span of years in-character), but flavor-wise it would work well.

Merek Montague |

How about this feature added to it: it allows him to know the current health status, direction, and approximate distance of his love. Distances are: within a mile, within 10 miles, within 100 miles, within 1000 miles, or "on this plane of existence." Health statuses are: healthy, sickened (Includes poisons, diseases, viruses, or the sickened/nauseated/some other status), injured (50-100% HP), severely injured (10-50% HP), critically injured (0-10% HP), and dying.

Aside from being indestructible, the object isn't actually magic- it's merely resolve given pysicial form.
Protective-
when you stand adjacent to your spouse, you both gain soft cover. You cannot be made to attack your spouse.
3rd level-
Hero- the scarf has 5 hero points in it- once there are consumed, they cannot be used again. If any of these points are used to cheat death, only one is consumed.

9th level-
Unyielding-
The person who received the scarf acquires the diehard feat. If your hit points drop to a negative number that would mean death, you fall unconscious, and are one hit point away from death.
11th level-
Unwavering-
The person who recived the scarf obtains the deathless initiate feat, and the number of negative hit points before death becomes 10+con+cha.
13th level-
Heroic refusal-
The owner of the scarf gains the heroic recovery and heroic defiance feats.
15th-
Undying-
You gain the deathless master feat, and fast healing 1 while below 0 hp.
17th-
Absolute retribution-
Whenever you first use retribution against a foe, you gain a free smite against that foe, that functions regardless of alignment. In addition, if the attack knocked out or killed your spouse, the effects of smite are doubled, and your first attack is as if you had true strike cast on you.
19th-
True hero-
You gain a temporary hero point at the start of every day, that fades at the end of the day.

icehawk333 |

Protective-
when you stand adjacent to your spouse, you both gain soft cover. You cannot be made to attack your spouse. You have a constant status spell Cast on the both of you, that both of you can use. At 10th level, this increases to greater status.
3rd level-
Hero- the scarf has 3 hero points in it- once there are consumed, they cannot be used again. One hero point recharges a month. If any of these points are used to cheat death, only one is consumed.
As a note, time skips in this campain won't be rare, due to long periods of traveling, possible rallying of armies (and having to wait for prepared war), and the fact that it's rather open world, so you won't always have an exact direction to go, ending up waiting (in charecter, it's quick out of chsrecter) for something to happen.
This is acutslly impranant enough that I will be listing the day, month, phase of the moons, and other such things every in game day.
