Lord Foul II |
That's actuslly really cool, foul.
thanks
3.5 also went into "weapons of legacy" which is similar and cool, and some of them are super flaverful, and I would also like to point out that not all of them are weapons, though most are, there were like three amulets, a couple rings, a shield or two, and a coue suits of armor as wellZveris Pilvo |
Question:
Would you allow people very close to a character to count as family for the Kin Guardian Trait?
For example, Stinson his best friend raccoon and Merek a childhood friend?
It fits into his whole "defend my pack" kind of dealie that is the same reason I took Intercept Charge. If he doesn't have close ties to the ithers, if they do develope, you could give me a point in roleplay at which point it would count for them.
Or not. I /am/ asking for an allowance here. Up to you for the extent of it if at all.

Sure.
Burning your action to give even a +4 to AC isn't even close to broken.

I'm ok with it. I'm not sure how well I can roleplay out relationships. I'm not really comfortable with it at a live table, but more comfortable in PBP. I'll go with it so long as everyone realizes that I'll just keep to surface topics as far as relationships go and will rarely go into deeper emotional talk.
As for as my past roleplaying games go, I've always been most comfortable just noting a relationship on my character sheet, and allowing it to lead to new adventures.
As far as in character concerns, this would mean that my paladin would assist the cleric first, look to the cleric for advice first, heal the cleric first, etc...

Well, my character tends to go were the wind takes him, if he heard a rumor about some goings on in some town in the sticks, he sees it as a sign from fate that he should go check it out (which can often lead him on some wild goose chases, but he's okay with that, it was fate right?). So I guess to answer your question, I have to ask what happens to lead up to us pissing off the witch?

You'll be playing pissing her off.
She's mentally unstable, hostile, and leaves her things scarred across the swamp.
It's ubsurd levels of easy to piss her off.

Z and I grew up together. His path took him towards mastering the wilds, while I took the Nobleman's path of righteousness and honor. I can still remember the day that lead me down my path. The rains were coming in heavy; Z and I were young and looking for adventure. Seeing the river full and the rapids wild, we couldn't resist. We stole a small boat from an old fisherman and took it for a ride to challenge the forces of nature at its finest.
I remember seeing Z, standing at the bow with his hands raised up towards the sky, bellowing at the gods, "IS THIS ALL YOU GOT?" White water was splashing up over the rim - it would have wet us if not for the torrential downpour already leaving us soaked.
In the end, we faced Mother Nature and beat her, but the small craft was destroyed in the process.
A wave of guilt came over me for such a dishonorable act - thievery and lying, the destruction of a good man's property.
I'll never forget that day - it's the day that started me on my path to becoming a man of justice and honor - a Paladin of Sarensrae.

Apparently my paladin is married to Sarrissa, and Castell was my best man, but I haven't detailed out our background together. Since Castell was the best man, then either he's very good friends with my paladin or perhaps a brother to Sarrissa.
Maybe we'll hear about this part of our story from one of them?

You're very open to this. I think I apprecate that.
Also, if you're going "speical Magic item" route, I've got a bit of an idea of where you could get it from.
Sarrissa |
It was easy to fall in love with Merek. It wasn't that he was handsome, even though he was. It wasn't his station in life or the way he carried himself. It was his compassion, his goodly nature. The way he treated people. That look in his eyes after he helped someone, you could just tell, he did things because he saw the need. He wasn't expecting any reward, didn't need some one else's grattitude. He sincerely wanted to help. How could a girl not fall for a man like that?
Sarrissa watched Merek for years, watched him grow into the man he is today. Always going off with her half-brother Castell to get into trouble and have an adventure. Mom would have liked him she thought to herself. Sarrissa's mother died when she was very young and her father remarried a few years later. Castell and Sarrissa were close growing up, father always made sure to treat them equally. They were very close in age too, which would make her wonder at times, but she tried not to think about it. Mom was gone, and this was her family now. Why bother trying to dig too deeply into things that were clearly painful for her father.
Feel free to critique anything, just tried to put pen to paper and see what came of it.

Wow, nice.
Anyone have any thoughts on how one or more of you would know my character, a guard in training for the upper crust, people who expect their guards to also be able to deal with magical problems.
My ninja is a wanderer, it's possible that we could have met at the town you were guarding, maybe we took down something that was a threat to your town
Edgar Storm |
He would more guard individuals than a town, maybe we were both hired to protect a traveling caravan of pompous rich people?
Sounds good to me =)
Lord Foul II |
Or perhaps a common rogue (thief, cutthroat, both, neither *shrug*) with a few maical tricks to make things easier, since monks themselves are rather eastern.
I mean yes there were (and in fact are) western monks, but they didn't go around punching things.
CrusaderEm |
My character is going to be a bit of a narcissist. He became an alchemist to further enhance himself in an attempt to gain power and become "perfect". The man's in love with himself. I really like the idea of him flipping out when his "perfect features" are replaced with kobold face or something. Should be fun.
Christopher "Chris" Farrell |
And he could easily be one of your pompous rich people.
Ok now that sounds awesome, and I heartily approve
Hmm a but more background details for my character and his family,My character's family is wealthy working class, and nearly all of them can cast arcane or psionic spells/powers to some extent
typical for the adults being about a 3rd-5th level adepts, the leader of the family is a 9th level wizard who curently serves as the court wizard for one of the local powers (jarl/duke/whatever, not king or emperor) , the curent heir is a 5th level arcanist.
They've held onto a bit of political power, but not particularially much, and they have not a drop of noble blood anywhere, though the current heir (my character's older brother) is attempting to court the daughter of a duchess, which would be a major step up for the family
The family is about 20 in number
The promising youngest child of the family's leader suddenly going missing would draw some bad publicity to the family, but some monstrous barbarian claiming to be him out of the blue would likely be worse.
DM, if you find any of this unrealistic please let me know what I can change,
Also just courisity, and because you have made them before, do you have any campign or regional traits for this game?

Paladins regularly work and mingle with the upper crust; our characters could easily know each other on either a casual, professional, or friendly basis.

I'd like to try this out. But I am at a loss for what my one item would be. Could you come up with something for my character?
