Looking at the other standing non-mite, ignoring the blue fellows for they seem to be tossing darts at the wall behind him and at his feet, he fires quickly again.

I was waiting for everyone else since I seem to be critting all the time.

Darren's arrows prove deadly accurate as Grench Teppish falls where he stands, blood pooling beneath him. The last blue creature drops his blades and raises his hands in supplication as soon as the cleric is dispatched.

Li ceases his preparations to jump the stream and simply walks around to join the group. He maintains a watch while others question the prisoner.

The still conscious blue creature (Any Knowledge Nature rolls?) looks at Selter with confusion etched on it's ugly, swollen face, as he speaks and seems to understand very little of what he says. It speaks in very broken common, "Slaves. Move boxes here." It taps its chest, indicating itself, and pantomimes struggling to lift the large crate he stands beside.

Odo comes around the corner and joins the group. He addresses the small blue creature.
"Slaves? Did I hear right? Were you slaves to these men?" He points to the body of Grench Teppish.

Darren waits quietly for their response.

"If it was raining brains that thing wouldn't get wet, the person I reckon had the answers is here" Svetlana pokes the dead casters body with her foot for emphasis, "So work out whether we are taking that thing or cutting it loose, I reckon we need to push on before this stiff is missed"
Looking to push back South

![]() |

"Isn't that just back up to the street? We only came down twenty feet, reckon the lot we are looking for are hidden down here in the dark - Derro won't have a want to go up I reckon"

![]() |

"If we were lucky it'd be a tavern with warm meals and cool ale, I know where I'd rather be; they might even have some eggs for you eh?" Svetlana jests in good natured mockery.

![]() |

"I think it would still be a good idea to check out where we are. The Venture Captain's assistant thought it likely we would see the Teppish family involved, and here Grench Teppish is at our feet. Our mission may be to find the derro under the sewers, but I feel we would be remiss to not seek an answer to this riddle as well. The building above this cellar, or wherever those stairs lead, may bear some connection with the derro and may have information we can use."

Selter can not quite identify the small blue creatures, but he suspects they are some variety of underground dwelling fey.
Svetlana finds little to interest her, the men were outfitted similarly, both wearing half-plate armor and wielding masterwork heavy flails. The crates and barrels appear to be food and supplies for a pretty sizable settlement.
The door at the top of the stairs is 10 feet wide and leads to a large hidden closet in a storage warehouse above—that closet has rope and block and tackle for lowering the crates and barrels down into this room. (The warehouse isn't featured in the scenario, so you can note where it is for investigating later.)
The small blue creature eyes Odo warily, squinting at his features, "Slaves, yes. Derro take." It seems to know only limited common and as the strange dwarf looms over it, it seems to lose even that much understanding as it sneers and trembles before him, exclaiming in it's own strange language.

![]() |

"Peace, Brak Gunddur. I would like to try a more gentle approach."
Odo tries to calm the little fellow down, speaking in reassuring tones and trying to use peaceful body language (he sheaths his scimitar and shows his open empty hand). "We will not hurt you. We do not wish to fight slaves sent to do the work of their masters. You are safe with us. Do you understand?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Odo continues with a request. "We are looking for the derro. We want to fight them. Can you help us find them? Lead us to them?"

The creature seems to understand Odo's intent and relaxes some, but still eyes the dwarves warily, seeming dubious but hopeful.
"You kill derro?" It points to it's fallen comrade on the stairs. "Help mite?"
The one Darren shot is obviously long gone, but the one on the stairs looks like it may yet be salvaged, barely.
Marco searches the area but finds little to interest him, Teppish was wears half-plate armor and wields a masterwork heavy flail. The crates and barrels seems to be food and supplies for a pretty sizable settlement.

Putting his bow away, Darren moves up to the mite and bows, then steps to the fallen mite and attempts to tend his wounds, feeling very guilty for slaying a slave.

Whoops, tacked that onto the wrong gameplay thread. This would be a very short game of Marco Polo, seeing as Marco is not here. lol!
Darren tries to administer first aid, but the mite's wounds are beyond his skill. That's a failed FA check, though Darren probably doesn't realize that.

Though he mumbles and mutters to himself, What is is about these mammals that can't fight for their own freedom? Selter walks over to the bleeding mite. If it has not yet expired he uses a small amount of power from his wand to stop the bleeding.

Selter stabilizes the wounded mite, but the creature is still unconscious. The other seems reluctant to leave his fellow, but willing to lead you on.
Going to kick us along a bit since I know at least one player draws short on time. ^_~
The mite moves south out of the room and west, back toward the junction you came from and crosses the board-bridges, passing by another dark alcove where the stench overpowers your senses. The foul waters swirl and dark forms bob in the water like some cresting aquatic beasts. A second look with the aid of your light reveal them to be pieces of floating garbage collected here. In the middle of trash floats three well-dressed, bloated corpses, their skin purple and splotchy and their bodies floating face down.
The mite notices your hesitation as you spot the long dead carcasses and explains simply. "Bad slaves, derro kill."
You wind your path among the sewer-ways, following the mite at his plodding pace. Finally he stops, turning back toward you and signaling for quiet. He gestures around the corner to the south and east, speaking low.
"Way down, men watch." The mite holds up two blue clawed fingers and points to Darren, seeming to indicate his bow and arrows but struggling to express what he wants to communicate.
"Wall shoots?" He looks unsure of the words, but doesn't try to further explain.
Make any preparations/plan your approach and I'll add the rest of the map once someone moves around the corner.

Selter whispers to the group, The little mammal may mean trapsss that ssshoot arrows or that there are 2 archersss along the wall. I am not sssure which it meansss.
Friend Darren, would you be willing to ssscout along the ledge?
Sithiss and I will follow as closssely as you wisssh.

Darren takes a moment to prepare his bow, knocking an arrow, he tries his best to hide in the shadows and move forward quietly, though before doing so, he does look back to ensure everyone is prepared for the coming storm.

I did the double move, but if there are critters/enemies as he turns the corner, he's back at the other corner in front of the mite. Sorry, I misread and thought the map was not up just yet

Darren can see one man standing on dry stone where there should be another pool of sewage water. Someone has constructed a large dam here made of wood scraps, ship beams, broken crates, and rocks. Beyond the dam is a room that once functioned as a catch basin for the sewers but now has dry, clean floors. In the northwest corner of the room, a sewer grate is set in the floor, and a huge chalk drawing of a rat about to pounce is sketched on the floor near the dam.
The man is armed with a quarterstaff and outfitted in studded leather armor. And apparently leaning at his leisure as he does not appear to have noticed the approaching ranger and druid.
The map docs are acting a little funny tonight, hopefully it's working.

Darren creeps forward, moving as far as he can, but trying to stay silent.
Double Move, half speed, stealth. Not sure if it's the same stealth roll or a new one, so I'll throw one anyway

Sithiss motions the others to follow quietly. (Stealthiest in front of the the others please. You guys may want to stay at the last corner until things get noisy.) Then follows Darren while continuing to allow the distance to open.
Selter stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Sithiss stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
I can't see the map at work to move my icon. So I'd appreciate if some one could keep me 20' back from Darren with Sithiss right behind me. I picked 20' since that would give them another -2 penalty on their perception check. Also once something happens, it would allow Sithiss and I to double move past Darren to protect the archer.
Edit: Hmm... Not great rolls, we will have to see what happens.

Odo whispers to the blue guy, "Wait here," before moving forward himself. He inches closer to get closer to the action but stays well back from the corner.

Li Shuo follows Odo's admonition to hang back, but he does move up to a position from which he can rush in if needed.

Svetlana uses the time that the others are trying to sneak around to see if she can just push down and cross the bridges, hoping to come up the other side of the tunnel rather than all be stuck on the same shelf.
BIG horseshoe around if possible, no point all being wedged and only two people being able to get in there :)
