"Follow!" cries Li Shuo, rushing into the building as he nocks an arrow to his bow. "Woman is screaming!"
| GM bluedove |
The building consists of two stories and as you approach from the south, you see only empty office-like rooms through the windows, the entrance to the northwest seems to be where the steam and smoke is the most concentrated and you can see only more cloudy mist through the windows there. Entering through a window requires a Str Check to open and a Climb Check to climb through, or you can proceed to the entrance to the north where visibility is virtually nil.
Kurse
|
"Ssince we may encounter more derro there may be ssome ssmall blue creaturess with them. They might be friendly sso try not to attack them until I try and communicate with them." Kurse then tries to open a window.
1d20 ⇒ 14
| GM bluedove |
Climb check is DC-10 to go through the window, so make that check if going through the window.
Kurse opens the window and as you climb into the small office and crack the door into the room beyond, you see a green-haired, female gnome bound on the floor in between three unsavory looking fellows. As you look on, one of the men delivers a nasty kick to her midsection. "Answer the question or I'll give you another, Gnome!"
Once inside the Hall of Wonders, you can see the outlines of three great structures piercing a thick mist that chokes nearly the entire western half of the building.
A brass planetarium rotates in the northeastern corner. Next to the celestial model, a clockwork contraption ticks and tocks as it turns on its axis. Finally, a giant metal crab sits with its claws extended on a southwestern platform. A hatch at one end of the crab provides an entrance into a barrel-like chamber.
Updated the map to show interior.

Kurse looks a sight trying to clamber through the open window, just as he is about to make it over, he slips back down as if something had tugged on his pack at just the right moment, unbalancing. You can take 10 or use aid another to help climb through the window. ^_~
Anyone preferring to enter through the front doors can place themselves there at the beginning of the move. You can only see 5 feet ahead of you when moving through the mist.
Svetlana and Frindlikh move into the room beyond, Frind slipping into the shadows. As two of the half-orcs and the green-haired gnome notice Svetlana, their eyes travel upward to a pale, dark haired young woman holding a heavy flail and wearing a chain shirt. You've not seen her before, but her fierce eyes and sculpted bone structure remind you strongly of the Ismacco woman you defeated on the deck of the Prancing Prince.
"What are you smiling at, tiefling wench? Get her!"
The half-orcs are slow to react and answer her command; one of them is still intent on the gnome and has not even noticed the icy beauty approaching.
Added the 2nd floor to the map, hopefully it's not too confusing. Sorry again for the delay!

Svetlana lunges at the oblivious half-orc, bringing a surprised "Oof!" as his chaimail halts the bardiche's blade. Frindlikh uses the cover of her attack to slip into the mist and seek out the ladder to the catwalk.
The half-orcs turn to face their attackers and Li's arrow catches the slow one in the throat and he falls to the floor, clutching at the shaft and choking on his own blood.

The Hellion and Oti swing and lunge with their weapons, but cannot manage to do more than make contact with their armored foes. The half-orc furthest away steps over the bound gnome and sends her sliding against the wall with a backward kick. Both enemies raise their clubs, swinging at Otiophon, but the aasimar proves too nimble to strike.
From the catwalk above, the woman holds her beaded holy symbol as she casts a spell that sweeps over all the Pathfinders.

Enraged, Oti steps up and punishes the brutish behavior mercilessly with his longsword, laying the last of the half-orc thugs low.
Findlikh tries to move in quickly and quietly but the toe of his boot catches a support cable and rattles the catwalk. The blackbird's quick eyes dart to pick him out from the swirling mists.
"Not so fast!" She calls out, dodging the worst of his blade so that he only nicks her.
Her eyes travel down at Kurse's call and her dark eyes go wide, rolling madly in the sockets like a spooked horse. She screams, "Abomination! Keep away from me!" and backs away from Frindlikh in a panic as she hustles as far from Kurse as she can.

Withdrawing his longsword and seeing that the engineer is out of harm's way, Oti runs into the mist, following the direction of the woman's footsteps overhead, hoping to intercept her.

She looks nervously into the mists and waits to see the outcome.

Frindlikh's strike seems well aimed and nearly grazes the mad cleric, but the swirling mists betray his depth perception. Svetlana proves more accurate, however and hacks with her bardiche, wounding the cleric.
Frustrated over having stupidly fled her superior position under the effects of a fear spell, the Ismacco woman clutches her beaded holy symbol and calls out to her diety for aid.
