Darren then begins to do what he was sent for. Searching...

Odo volunteers, "I am no healer, but I am curious and the dead hold little terror for me. I'll look to the body in the webs." He then goes to check out the humanoid figure caught in the web.

![]() |

Marla starts to move to investigate the body in the webs but gladly lets others take over. She takes out her book and pen and makes a couple notes. Brak unsecures the rope above and after strapping his axe to his back climbs down to join the others. He gives the dead spider a hate-filled look before standing by Marla while the search is conducted.

Selter and Odo go to check the humanoid hand Selter spotted earlier and slice away the webs to get a closer look. Selter quickly confirms the shriveled, blue-grey creature caught in the webs is indeed a derro, albeit a thoroughly desiccated one. Though it has been dead for some time, it still carries it's gear, including 2 potions of cure moderate wounds, leather armor, short sword, and a repeating light crossbow with 10 bolts all sized for a small humanoid. The bolt tips are stained with a dark substance of some kind.
Darren marks out a few suspicious looking bundles of webbing that might be egg sacs, but what interests him more is the heavy metal drain in the middle of the room.

"Hm...lucky us. There is a trap door right here that looks like would cause a nasty fall. We can either avoid it...or I can try and disarm it. It does not look to overly complicated. Though if we need to retreat, it might not be a bad thing to have it here and know about it." He then indicates where the pitfall is situated.
Sizing up the trap, he gives it a once over and attempts to disarm it.
Disarm: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

![]() |

Darren, are you sssure it isss jussst a hazard and not a hidden route to sssomeplace? If you are, then I would leave it be sssince we know about it. Ssshould we need to retreat, it might be a hazard to ssslow our pursssuersss.
.
Showing the others the vials, Who needsss to carry thessse healing drinksss?

![]() |

"I feel confident it's faulty equipment and not a way to go. We are in the sewers, after all."

![]() |

Odo helps cut the derro corpse from the webbing and lays him out below the route upward. "That should leave him in a better position to be cleaned up later, should the need arise. Would anyone prefer to be custodian to these potions? They may be useful in an emergency."

![]() |

"I'll hold one"
"Reckon you can decide what you all do with the hole, reckon it isn't much of my business because if the party is falling back being chased I'm probably already dead" Svetlana offers in a bit of gallows humour as she begins pushing forward down the sewer on the look out for further danger.
Begins Deathwatch

![]() |

"Give the other to Li Shuo. I have a want."

![]() |

Marla makes a few more notes about the Derro and what it was wearing and carrying, and about the location of the pit, before closing her book and packing it up again.
Brak continues to keep watch, but at the mention of the pit, he grins. "Might be a good tactical advantage should we need it. Leave it for now. We can disable it on the way out." he says.

![]() |

"Looks like we have two sides of a sewer, so we could almost go in two fronts with half on either side. Any enemies fighting on one side would engage our blocker, and then get peppered with slings arrows and spells from the far side, hammer and anvil. Reckon I'll go down the side closest to us on the turn, Odo can take a half group down the opposite side. We get into a scrap we take advantage of the bottleneck - whats the point in being a big long chain of fools?"

![]() |

"I could lead and scout ahead, for the most part, especially since I have an eye for traps."

![]() |

![]() |

Odo nods his assent. "That sounds reasonable to me as well, though Marla may want to stick closer to her grandfather."
He heads around the ledges to get to the other side of the main sewer channel.

![]() |

Marla nods, but says, "Uncle." to Odo's words.
Odo doffs his helmet in apology. "You are quite right. My mistake and humblest apologies. I have heard how important family relationships and history are to your folk and I didn't mean to mistake the relationship. I never knew most of my family and have a hard time keeping straight how family lines work."

Ok, the other groups are through the combat and your maps are updated, let me know which way you want to go and I will update again accordingly.

The dark, fetid sewers beneath Cassomir stretch out before you, echoing the sounds of water lapping, pouring out of pipes that come in from every direction, many of them more foul than the last. Occasional splashes in the distance remind you of the rodents that must infest this place, but they stay out of view.
As the group travels south and east you notice a slight glow of light emanates from the room just beyond your view.

![]() |

Svetlana signals the group...
Suggested advance
Keeping the groups moving down, if the north gets tagged, the South can either push around or engage with ranged weapons as they see fit

![]() |

Selter nods in agreement.

Odo sheathes his scimitar and pulls out and loads his sling. Then he carefully makes his way along the sewer ledge, trying to be quiet, and get a peek into the lit chamber.

Given the rolls above by all and sundry I think its safe to say we aren't likely to get far with stealth and are probably best just rolling up and over targets at speed instead... what a pack of elephants :p

![]() |

Agreed.
Li Shuo stops trying to be stealthy, realizing that it won't matter, and simply forges ahead, listening carefully.

Odo moves to a position to see into the room ahead, but unfortunately it is a case of see and be seen as a man cries out a warning and points out the halfling. A somewhat familiar voice sounds, "Drop that and kill the intruders, you bug-eyed oafs!"
Several small blue creatures with bulbous heads and enormous eyes, squinting in the dim light draw blades and begin to plod dutifully to intercept your party.
This room appears to have once been the basement of the building above, the wall separating the basement from the sewer long ago smashed in and repaired, giving it the appearance of a natural part of the sewer system. The ceiling here is 30 feet high and the room is lit by torches in the north and south walls. Stacks of crates and barrels line the north wall, and a set of finely carved stone stairs start on the south wall and make their way up and around the west wall to a door high above the room in the northwest corner. This room is clean and well-maintained, a harsh difference from the sewer just outside the archway. The torches provide normal light within 20 feet of the north and south walls, and dim illumination in a small bit of shadow at the center of the room.

Upon laying eyes on the man, Odo has no doubt that this is a Teppish. Grench Teppish is the spitting image of his twin brother, Dalirio, all the way down to his choice of weapon. The other man seems to share some familial features as well, though he seems the elder of the two.
Odo's sling attack ricochets off the wall uselessly but Darren has better luck with his bow. The cold iron arrow pierces the chest of the small blue creature nearest the entrance to the room, pinning it to the crate behind it. The bulbous head slumps over and is still.
Grench casts something at Darren as his companion moves to see the halfling and casts at him as well. They point and speak, though the sound is broken and strange, almost as if they were talking backwards. The halfling paladin shakes off the effect easily, but the ranger pauses, feeling a momentary confusion before regaining his senses. Saved by the skin of his teeth!
Grench moves behind his brother, shouting something in an unknown tongue to the small blue creatures. They seem to balk, looking at their swiftly slain comrade, and then draw forth darts and fling them at Darren, coming close, but failing to hit him.

Li hustles along the sewer's edge and fires his bow at (whichever brother is to the left on the map).

Li fires his arrow across the sewer way and seriously wounds the elder Teppish, but Darren's next two shots rip through him so viciously it leaves little doubt that he is dead, unsalvageable. Grench clutches at a beaded holy symbol and sends a wave of negative energy out toward the intruders that now quickly close on him in a desperate attempt to keep them back.
The blue creatures lob more darts toward the ranger, but they now seem more afraid of hitting him than missing.
These creatures are not derro, they are mites. A rather nasty and pathetic type of underground dwelling fey.

Turning the corners forces Odo to slow down, but he keeps hustling along. He draws out his scimitar, a quality weapon forged by ironmongers in the shadow of the Worldwound to cut through the supernatural skin of minor demons. Odo hopes it will serve him well in this fight.
Two move actions. Life can be slow being an armored halfling.
