King of Talingarde

"Hey, where'd the GM go?"

Sorry guys about the disappearance. Just a bad work week. Had a couple not much sleep nights dealing with not just 1, not just 2, but 3 freezer emergencies at work (medical related freezers, not food related). And I'm the lucky guy that gets to document the reports of what happened, what we did, figure out what to do with the contents, blah blah blah.

Combine that with the tornado and storm last night (and my internet not working a good portion of yesterday), plus covering for a co-worker's vacation means this week kicked my butt.

I'll try to move us forward either during lunch break or if I can this evening when I get home (if my internet there is up).

If there is anything I can not stand, it is a GM who allowing little things to get in the way of the game.

Yaaaaa... I not want to think about what all is spoiling when a hospital fridge goes out. O.o

He said he works with Blood Plasma if I am correct. Anybody remember the 90s spiderman cartoon.

I guess you do.

Hmmm... and now all our opponents have cover against me. :(

Hey Alaric, I have an idea.

I feel bad about yanking the rug out from under you with my big bull rush. I want to help get you in position, but I want it to feel like something an ogre would legitimately do.

So, can you use some of that Dark Knight charisma to tell the ogre to help you get closer to the fight?

It'll be good, I promise. :)

It would break character to even acknowledge his presence as helpful. If you want to do something crazy go ahead, but if you're throwing him or pushing him then Alaric would take an attack of opportunity on the ogre, assuming he gets one. He's not a nice person and the notion that the ogre is 'helping' him would insult him beyond belief. It's part of the Asmodean concept of power.

It's really fine that I'm on quote-unquote clean up duty. Alaric is the one who is annoyed; me as the player I am ambivalent. I actually think the bull rush was funny and wish they got tangled into a katamari or something. Then we could roll them around being happy : )

Fair enough. What with the Lord of Darkness thing being all about commanding others to do your bidding, I thought it might work for you to order an ogre about. No problem though.

I'm Darth Vader. You don't hear him saying "Give me some cover fire so I can get closer to those jedi!" He just walks out into the laser fire everything be damned, and chokes the soldiers who don't follow him.

The heroes are the one asking for help; Darth Vader is the one telling people to kneel.

Ya know?

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Just for my clarification, is the grass difficult terrain anywhere with green or just the darker green.

Gotcha. :)

I believe all the grass is difficult terrain.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

I believe you killed the horse.

Sheesh... hopefully. If that doesn't kill it, we're in trouble. O.o

King of Talingarde

Any square more than 50% grass is difficult terrain (light and dark green included).

And now I have to introduce a Moff for Alaric to choke...

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Alaric naming himself Vader made me realize even more that I think I want Fargo to go vampire. There is one is becoming more like over time.

Percep +4. Init +8 -- Hp 50/50. AC 18, t12, ff16. Fort+4, Ref+4, Will+6

Cain, in addition to a (relatively irrelevant right now) +2 intimidate, this spell will allow you to discharge it upon a successful hit to force a DC 17 Will save vs nauseated.

Well, now that's tasty! Thanks for sharing. >:D

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

Alaric, I'm pretty sure you can carry a two handed weapon in one hand. It just isn't considered wielded so it doesn't Threaten until you get both hands on it again.

Also, because "changing grips" (moving from a one handed to two handed grip) is a Free action, you could let go with one hand, do something, and then re-grab again at the end of your turn (so you could still threaten when it isn't your action).

In fact, the only reason to drop your weapon to switch to Ranged would be if the ranged weapon required both hands.

There's also a slightly cheesy work around for using a two handed ranged weapon without dropping your melee weapon. You just attach your melee weapon to yourself with a weapon cord so it can be retrieved as a free action after you drop it. It's a little silly thematically, but mechanically it works great.

If you already know this stuff ignore my rambling.

I think he has a shield, doesn't he?

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

Forgot about that. If it's a light shield he can still hold things with his shield hand.

Sounds like a good reason to employ the weapon cord trick. (just attach the cord to a belt or something rather than the wrist, because otherwise it's just dumb)

Or, ya know, cut your way through the wall of stinking bugbear to get at the actual target. :D

Male Human Lord of Darkness Antipaladin 5; HP 57/57; AC 23/11/22; Initiative +1; Perception -1; Fort +8, Ref +5, Will +5 (+1 vs. divine spells);

Shield and one-handed bastard sword. I'd normally sheathe it but I needed the move to step into difficult terrain.

Plus, when I get there I'm just going to corrupting touch him. So it's no big.

HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning

I love anti-paladins. Such awesome abilities.

In my experience, Touch of Corruption doesn't get used too often, which is sad. There's a few fairly cheap items that are handy for getting more use out of ToC (because you can expend two used to Channel Energy)

Sanctified Shield
Consecrated Weapon
Iron Eye
Authoritative Vestments
Just Scale (potentially the most useful of all of them)

and of course the Conductive weapon property.

Fun stuff. :)

Keeping the masterwork stuff might be useful in disguising one of us. With the help of a circlet, one of us could take on the identity of the captain we just killed when we infiltrate the fortress.

Fargo Drinog wrote:
The Bugbear in question follows Alaric's finger with his eyes. Get it yourself. We were told to help kill some humans. They are dead. We are done.

Let me get this straight... we annihilate the rangers with nearly zero actual contribution from the bugbears and one of them is giving us lip?!

Male Human Lord of Darkness Antipaladin 5; HP 57/57; AC 23/11/22; Initiative +1; Perception -1; Fort +8, Ref +5, Will +5 (+1 vs. divine spells);

It's a good enough moment to showcase my huge intimidate. Let him go get the guards after 1d6 minutes; they'll shoot him with arrows, or, he runs to you, and then I stab him with my sword of compensation.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Posting just because. I figured you would kill the Bugbear. You did say you were Vader.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Just an FYI. Tomorrow I am going down south to a friends for the weekend. I probably will not have any internet access until Sunday (yeah, it back in the sticks). I am going to eat very yummy piggies though.

How about lets not murder our tentative allies until we've cemented a power base?

I tend to agree... especially as I was a strong breeze away from dropping. Had it turned to combat, one good thump and Cain could have gone down. I'm sure the team would have survived... Cain's ego, not so much. :)

Also, we about ready to kick this thing forward? Theres not much more to do at the ambush site. So we gather anything we're keeping as loot and make our way (in a non-direct manner) back to Aldencross and check in... coming up with a suitable story.

Anything I'm missing?

Percep +4. Init +8 -- Hp 50/50. AC 18, t12, ff16. Fort+4, Ref+4, Will+6

Sounds good.

ok back in contact

King of Talingarde

Don't have time to post right at present, will get post up tonight.

Generic Excuse Information: Finally got my new apartment, and now the movers won't get my stuff here until the 21st or 22nd. So I'll be buying a chair tonight on my way home. Also what would have been my new neighbor may have been murdered, though I seriously doubt it (stupid rumors, don't even find this one funny). Police didn't say much when questioning me, especially when I explained I just moved in. Figured if something like that would have been suspected they would have asked me more questions. Reconsidering policy on not drinking, though I can only imagine what those posts would be like...

Dang. That's not encouraging. Hope things settle down for you soon.

Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)

Yeah, the same here.

King of Talingarde

Okay, new #1. Raises fist into the air dramatically. "POSTMONSTER!!"

I had made up a post a few minutes ago, but when I went to submit, DENIED!! Blargh.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I want to apologize for my sour post last night, was feeling a tad down. Shoulda waited until morning. Sorry!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For sneaking back into Aldencross, just let me know how you plan to do it and when. If you want to roll Disguise/Stealth/Perception/Bluff or anything else you feel is applicable go ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looking over your plans, I see two things still needing to be done before the assault.
1) Mott/Eddarly affair
2) Poison the food
What I need for those is at least a basic outline of how you want to proceed and we can go from there.
HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning
I also need to charm a magic shop owner.
And did someone have a game plan for the Mott/Eddary affair? I don't have something specific in mind other than "try to get them to kill each other" or "get them into a situation where we can kill them and make it look like they killed one another"
... that's about as far as I got. Ideas?
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
The thing to do would be to make sure the husband hears about the wife indiscretions.
HP 27/35, Temp HP 0, 3 str damage, AC: 11, Fort +02/ Ref +2 / Will +6, Perception:+5 Channel 8/8, Bolster 8/8, Infernal Healing 50/50, Command Undead 50/50. Active Effects: Fox's Cunning
I think that's mostly Price's thing, sewing the seeds in her sewing circle.
If I remember right she totally nailed her Bluff/Diplomacy roll to get that rolling.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
I think you are right. Any body heard from Price lately. A note shoved under the cuckolded captains door would also help.
I just got an email from Price's player this last week. Life in general is being a bit on the overwhelming side for him lately. He said he'd like to get back on Paizo at some point (didn't give a time), and he said he was still interested in playing in this game.
He said he was sorry for his sudden absence, but beyond that didnt' give many details. I'm sure he would understand if we moved forward for the time being; I'm guessing he'd just like to be able to step back in when life gives him the chance.
With the way this game has been working so far, I don't think that will be a problem. We can just assume Price is off working on some other project for the time being.
One of the great things about the structure of this game is that unless we're in combat, characters can easily drop in and out of the spotlight.
King of Talingarde
All right so I plan to move this forward without Price. Or more specifically NPCing Price to get things moving on. I'm working out some details but I'll get the next post up for Xanos and Cain tomorrow afternoon.
Male Half Elf (AC: 15|11|14 - For:+4 | Rex:+3| Wil:+5- Per:+2Init:+3)
Just a reminder, Fargo was going to be at third eye when Xanos came in, just in case.
And if Alaric agrees, Cain would ask him to come as backup.
