The thing that sparked me asking was that zombies retain flight abilities. I want to create Fast Flaming Bloody Zombies out of those crows we're about to kill.
Each template casts double the HD, but crows are 1/8 hit dice, meaning each one would count as 1/2 hit dice with all the templates. I'd be able to create and control 24 of them.
I figure a flock of nigh-indestructible flaming birds could be pretty dangerous so long as I can keep them out of range of any Channeling clerics.
What do you think? I could do this with Skeletons, but then they'd have to stay on the ground. (I'd probably want to use cats or something in that case)

I want to review all the templates creatures on that first. But if it helps any, I just imagined what you described and thematically, I love it!! I see the concept of a flock of Flaming Raven Zombies darting about as pretty awesome!!

Cain... |

Okay, Cain put down 900g for the Effcient Quiver. I'm deducting the balance (900g) now and addicting it to his Gear.
Also, in this post, I asked about some other items. Based on Xzaral's response, I'd like to make some additional forward-thinking purchases.
Xanos, would you have the time/ability/willingness to help cut the price down on some scrolls by crafting them? And if the spells aren't' on your list (ranger spells) how likely are you to succeed?

Xanos |

If they arent on my list I can't make them (as far as I know)
I think there's a work around for other magic items with involves raising the craft DCs to ignore a requirement, but scrolls don't have a craft DC, so they wouldn't work for that. Basically a scroll is a way to cast a spell now and store it for later, so a caster can only make scrolls of spells they can cast themselves.
If you want scrolls of some of the spells that overlap on both lists (or if you have enough UMD not to care) I'd be happy to crank out some scrolls for you. We just need of buy a scroll first so I can learn it and make more.

On the other hand I could make a 1x per day wondrous item of whatever spell you want, even if I don't know the spell. It's a little more costly than a scroll, but it's a money saver in the long run. For 1st level spells I can make them for about 1k each. The +5 craft DC for an item that inexpensive is negligible.

I am back from the con and working on catching up to my games. Sadly my return to work was more eventful than I cared it to be following a vacation, including a visit from the president of the company (O_o) on short notice (I learned while I was gone).
I'll try to get things moving forward tonight.

It was basically a feel good type of thing, come in and say hi, meet staff. He visited three centers in one day so it was a fairly brief visit. Problem is with something like that is the make everything look great for him and to welcome him here, and all the associated prep work that goes with it while still maintaining daily tasks on a short staff.
Fortunately a new person has been identified an hired. Now it's just the amount of time to spend training them, and still looking at hiring one more person I'll have to train as well. Plus another visit was announced for next month (not the company president, but probably a more intensive and detailed visit), and at the end of next month I have a regional meeting to attend.
Also other personal stuff (there's a reason I couldn't post last night).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that my rant over my personal life is over...
It looks like the last item needed to attend to is a building to ignite on fire. My thoughts are a tannery. Easy to ignite, difficult to put out. Usually isolated (both good to get to but bad since it won't spread). A burning tannery smells PUTRID. Important enough usually to demand attention to put out. Try to plan it (either by guessing with winds or addition of magic) to have it blow towards the town and it will get people off the streets.
There are of course other options, I just have some strange obsession with burning tanneries. And utlimately it will have the same desired effect. If there's any buildings you prefer, let me know! Mechanically you made the perception roll to find something appropriate, at this point it's fluff.
Am I missing anything else? Particularly from Price?
So good and bad news.
At work I've finally gotten the requested help hired and training begun. Problem is now I have to have that training completed ASAP (blargh). So my work days are going to be long through the end of September getting that completed (and possibly into October).
What that means is that slow updates will be a thing through that timeframe. I'll have time this evening to update, but probably not again until Saturday. So I'm leaving this up to you guys. We can do another hiatus until then or deal with slow updates.
I do apologize for this.
Could everyone who's still here just reply so I know, please?
As of this moment, it looks like the only thing left for Aldencross is the poisoning and the attack aside from the funeral description. While I'd rather do something colorful and RPish for it, I'll post some important information here just to prevent that from holding back.
Remaining important NPCs that Price is able to tell from the funeral
- Lord Havelyn
- Tacitus the Magister (obviously a mage from dress, acouterments, and wand at hip)
- Father Donnigan (priest)
- Captain Barhold
- Mother Ryanne (head priest from Aldencross's church, visiting for the funeral)
- Mad Martin (Keeper of the birds)
Anyone not on that list seems to be common soldiers or servants.
The calendar lists the poisoning as Moonday the 9th, with the attack on Toilday the 10th at about 1-3am. I'll give out a freebie that the poisoning is realtively easy to perform and just need to know what you plan to poison with.
If no one has any issues, we can start with the assault part of things. Let me know what you think.
Also one more question I wanted to ask everyone. Up until know I've been using google maps to do everything. What would people think if I went over to using Roll20 for the maps? This would involve everyone setting up a Roll20 account, so does require a unanimous vote. Just a thought I wanted to run by everyone.
Xanos |
So long as the link takes me straight there from here, I don't really mind what site is hosting the map.
If it doesn't work we can always switch back.
I'd like to say that this group's dedication over long absences is amazing. I've never seen anything like it in any other game.
King Markadian V |
Price and Cain, you should both be able to move your tokens around now if you want to play around with it. I'm typing up the post to kick off the attack, just wanted to see if any technical troubleshooting needed to be done first (or switch back to the other method). I'll probably go ahead and post it tonight to get the gameplay moving as well.
Going back through the thread, Here and the two posts above it.
Crafting a Scroll, Potion or Wand requires that the person that has the spell be the caster. Otherwise, the spell just has to be cast daily for the crafting.
As far as making items of first level spells, that's within certain limits. For example, a rock that casts Cure Light Wounds at will costs about 2,000gp based on the formulas, but the actual benefit of such an item is worth more than a little more than that. The same goes for an item that does Mage Armor at will, which would normally be a 16,000gp item. So any custom items tend to need to be ran by me, if you don't mind please. Mainly to gauge costs against other items.
