I suppose it's a difference of approach. Bugbears scare people by waving spiky clubs in their faces. Orcs scare people by cutting their friends in half with an axe.
The longspear is a bit of a thematic stretch. It was pulled mostly from the idea of creating a central theme around goblinoids as a whole. Losing it wouldn't hurt them. I'd have them drop the morningstar still, and probably replace it with a Kukri or a Sap. If I were giving them a complete overhaul, I'd give them racial proficiency in the Net and the Mancatcher. Maybe the Bola too.
Then all of a sudden Bugbears have an underlying theme of live capture, which is both frightening and opens up a lot of interesting narrative possibilities.

Mark,
I was considering hopping into GMing a Pathfinder campaign on the forums and I was wondering a) where your magical map came from and b) how you create the tiny trinket-esque tokens for the game.
Thoughts or techniques shared would be appreciated

The map came from a google search for "forest map with grid".
The tokens were made with token tool from RPtools.net The learning curve for Token Tool is pretty small. I actually found it harder to get the program to run than to use it, lol.
For the map itself, I just create a Google Drawing and give everyone permission rights to edit it. Realizing I haven't said it yet to you, Alaric. If you accidentally move the base map, just center it both horitzontally and vertically by right clicking on it (you have to do it once for each). I always align it both ways in case I move it by mistake, happens more than I care to admit.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Honestly, when I attempted to look for a picture for Captain Varning, I started searching for things like 'ranger mounted', 'mounted scouts', 'mounted cavalry'. It kept giving me civil war pictures and whatnot. One search (I don't remember what exactly) gave me that picture, which I kind of liked. Didn't realize who it was until I had made the token, then was like, 'Meh, it works'.
Of course that could just be me trying to distract from how awesome Captain Varning is :p
Off-hand, my first PC death in my tabletop game was from one of the four Captains. So they aren't pushovers. I'll relate the story when we're done with Aldencross if you like.

I never understood Chuck Norris jokes. He was a good martial artist, and a medeocre actor, and now he's a laughable political commentator. As far as life stories go, that gets a big old "Meh" out of me.
I can think of half a dozen people who deserve the "insanely Badass" rep more than him. Bruce Lee (broke his spine, taught himself to walk again, completely revolutionized martial arts), Teddy Rosevelt (got shot during a speech. Finished the speech and walked off stage before going to the hospital), Andrew Jackson (after an assassination attempt, Jackson, who could barely walk at the time, beat his assailant to permanent brain damage. It took five other men to drag him off the assassin), and my personal favorite Christopher Lee (I dont even know where to start. Dude's life reads like a history textbook of absurd badassery. He's 90 years old now and is still making movies and recently began recording heavy metal albums. The shit he did in WWII is still classified)
So basically, I'm looking forward to killing good old Mr. Norris.

When I first heard of the 'Chuck Norris' jokes, I agreed with that statement. I really don't know how it got started or why it took off and didn't really think much of him.
At this point, it's ingrained enough in our current culture though that even people who don't subscribe to the 'Chuck Norris is badass' phenomenon (or whatever it's called) recognize the usage of his image is being used to represent, well, badass. Which is why I chose to use that particular image since, while we have been playing together for a while now, I don't really know enough about everyone to use something personally recognizable so much as culturally recognizable. My own take is it's a necessary part of being a member of this culture.
And while yes, those are definitely great examples of badassery, it's that cultural recognizability that I was drawing on to go ahead and use the image after I realized who it was.
In other words, "IT'S MY JOKE AND I'LL USE IT IF I WANT TO!!1"
:P

Fair enough. :)
I do think a lot of the jokes are funny. Like most memes though, I can't help but ask myself "how the hell did that get started".

I think we should make a rules-board post asking "What happens when you force two horses and two humans to share the same space, and then cover them in Tanglefoot glue? Oh, and the whole area is difficult terrain."
Anyone have another Tanglefoot bag or a Net that we can toss over the lot of them? Preferably both. :)

I was considering commanding the horse to lay down as well. Just to be a jerk.
But Alaric doesn't speak horse. He only speaks sword.
Is it my turn yet? I have a speech I want to deliver.
In sword.

Wait, this isn't www.gaybarnyardgluebondage.net?
My drider sense it tingling, and it's not in a good way.
Also not clicking. At least not while at work...

Alaric, I'm gonna try to clear a path for you to use that Smite on Varning. Either bu targeting the entangled rider or Varning's horse.
Xanos, maybe you could have the ogre help with that effort?
It's really unlikely I'm going to get to him, sadly enough. The ogre bullrush pushing them into difficult terrain ruined my chances. If I kill the soldier, I'm moving forwards and attacking the entangled rider, then moving and provoking and then attacking Varning. He'll probably be down by then.
But, if you kill the entangled rider I'm double moving on an empty turn and taking an AoO to get there. Then you kill Varning the next turn anyways (I don't think he has 50 hp). Better if you just focus Varning down and kill him.
Literally the second the ogre bull rushed him I was on clean up duty. Alaric expressed as much. 20ft movement and 5ft reach in difficult terrain vs. two characters with 30ft and 10ft reach. Difficult to compare.

Your call. Cain's still going after his horse first. Drop his speed dramatically, and force him to choose between his lance or his shield.
Then I might make it there before he's down!
Don't worry about my smites being 'call-outs.' But thanks for caring. You give me the warm fuzzies, sir.
Cain...
It has more to do with having new characters establish themselves... and, in a real sense, letting Cain get a feel for Alaric's true capabilities. Want to have that out of the way and established before we hit the fortress.
Shulme got his frog encounter. Fargo beat up Cain in the sparring room.
Plus, like i said, I'm still primarily concerned with being certain Varnibg can't get away... which he certainly won't do on-foot.
...in difficult terrain.
... in heavy armor.

Alaric, why not just jump up on a spare horse? How's your Ride skill?
-5. 50/50 chance of not being able to use a weapon and shield, 100% chance of no quick mount. 50/50 chance of getting knocked out of the saddle if hurt.
Guhh. I'm cool with just carving my way across the lane.
Xanos
Yeah, nevermind. Ouch.
Why the hell Ride is effected by ACP, I'll never know. Disable Device too. Makes no sense.

Yeah, its on him. He's been having posting issues lately. Hope everything is ok.
Everything is okay, just that life is resisting the idea of becoming less busy atm. On top of work, my sister who has just graduated from college arrived to visit yesterday.
Which is great, but I have a low wisdom on the least busy of days, and so now I keep losing track of various things. Apologies (again).
Shulme-Silule
Well, then Im' sorry for pesticating, man. I certainly don't mean to add to your stress.
Just ignore me. :)
No worries, it doesn't bother me. I've just been being unusually forgetful. But other than that, life is good. Busy, but good busy.
